Today we will be exploring a property unlike others I've documented in the past, a mansion that is as extravagant as this one, amd with how much expensive materials are left behind. You will be seeing luxury cars (Mercedez-Benz),THOUSANDS of designer clothes, never worn and rotting away. along with much more. The mansion itself is a statement of wealth. Over 10 rooms and over 9 bathrooms, along with 30 ft high ceilings in some areas.
Although the appearance of this lavish palace is stunning, the story behind its abandonment is one of tragedy. The former owners, Father and Mother, with two children. The father was a wildly successful surgeon, and was a licensed pilot as his hobby. One day when flying with his son, they lost control due to engine failure and they both never returned from that flight. The mourning mother, wife could never return home since then, not being able to afford the Enormous mansion for herself, and what for ?
since then, the property has been overgrowing with weeds, decaying, and although time outside keeps advancing forward. Time inside the mansion stands still.

This is the home of a black doctor Hector Collison. There is a video "Dr. Hector Collison's Mansion". This mansion is in Potomac, Maryland. The belongings you see are not property of the Collison family. This home was sold to a Nigerian national who was put in Federal prison and deported. Everything he left behind because he was imprisoned. The dogs were starved they broke out of their cages and survived on water from the sink as long as they could. That is why the sinks are full of feces. The dogs died in there. His wife and children were deported. Dr. Hector Collison was a colleague of my fathers he was a great doctor and businessman. Sad what happened to him and his son. Potomac has a lot of wealthy black people mostly high powered attorneys, doctors and real estate investors. Dr. Collison's daughter Amira is a psychiatrist.

I never understood how some doctors made so much money and some didn’t. I worked at a bank and occasional saw mortgage loan applications. One was a husband and wife who were both Doctors. Anesthesiologist and had no office or staff overhead. They just ran from hospital to hospital passing gas 🤡. But, seriously, they made $1,000,000 each. So, $2,000,000 each in 1980’s which would be close to $4,000,000 today. If they can spend a quarter of income on mortgage payments,as is common, they could pay a million a year on mortgage. That means a $12 million dollar mortgage at 8%+- Times 1.25 for cash down = home worth $15,000,000. The problem for bank is one of these doctors dies the probability of foreclosure is 100%.

He wasn't a pilot but a cardiologist (Dr. Collison) who flew small planes as a hobby until he crashed his plane and died with his son on one of his flights. His widow could not afford the $50,000/month mortgage and the $8 million left to pay off on the house. Since it was still under construction and unfinished, she couldn't sell it within the 3 months that the bank had given her so the bank foreclosed on it and it was sold to some Nigerians who were later deported. All the items in the house is what the Nigerians left behind when they had to leave the country in a rush.

That locked door room on the second floor that you saw was actually an elevator. You can tell by the two up and down buttons next to it and the way the door is locked as well. It is a requirment by codes as a safety feature to be locked when not level with the door on residential buildings to prevent someone opening the door and falling in.

One reason so many of these mansions don't sell is because the original owner/builder puts so much of their personality into the decor. Unless you happen to like the same style it would be hard and expensive to redo. That staircase is beautiful but not to everyone's taste. Think what it would take to redo all of the staircases and balcony rails.

I am amazed at these abandoned homes still with all the valuable possessions left in them and noone has ransacked them or stolen all the belongings, there is a ton of valuables left here that some would die to have, especially the cars, it just amazes me noone has come to reclaim them or stolen them. Another thing that is really strange is how one room will be perfect and another room totally destroyed, like someone lost their temper and or totally lost it due to sadness or great loss and just threw stuff everywhere. The clothing is also amazing all new with tags still on them never worn, including the shoes. All I can say is "WOW!!!" Simply amazing. Thanks guys for showing us these amazing and sometimes very sad places and the people that once lived in them, and also how it looks like one day they just got up and left and never returned, leaving behind their legacy for us to see. Simply amazing!

Great tour, Thank you. I've seen this place before, but not done as well as your video. They didn't show all of the new clothes with tags. Imagine eleven bedrooms and each has a bath. Now that's the only way to do a good job building a home. I'm very surprised that there was little to no male clothes or shoes. And no evidence that a child lived there. That seemed very strange. The first owner of this house was a cardiologist . He had the house built and they'd lived in it 7 months when him and his 15 year son went on a trip in his plane and crashed and died when the plane crashed. The wife had to sell it because of 8 million was still owed on it and the husband had let his multi million dollar life insurance lapse 2 months prior to his death and the mortgage was $50,000 and 8 million was owed on the home. The man saved for years it was his and his familys dream home unfortunately the wife and other 3 kids had to sell the home and take what they could and move back to their old home. The youngest daughter become a Dr. Like her dad. The mortgage company gave the wife 3 months to sell the home and she did , to a nigerian national and a woman named natalie . Ironically the nigerian national also died and natalie was forced to leave the home. Its been tied up in the courts since then starting in 2015 for back taxes. No one else has owned this home and no one else ever will. Some homes arent meant to be owned after such tragic events happen. No one will ever keep this home the sadness is embedded in the walls. Someone elses blood , sweat , and tears went into the planning and construction of it and he worked his life to afford it and ended up losing his life after and it was tragic for the family. Houses hold memories and emotions ..not all good. This house will be cursed for anyone who tries to own it. Both people who have owned it died tragic deaths at two different times the other owner, the nigerian national died in a bad car wreck. You can feel the sadness and anger in the house. You can almost see the family there too

It's probably all diced up in loans and investors a lot people living at that level especially building such a house would be up to their eyeballs in debt - financial packages - and those get bought bundled up & sold throughout. One part of the financial/insurance package goes down - if it's peripheral OK recovery possible - but the main breadwinner's/shareholder's salary gone stagnant - that's the lubricant that keeps the family's ownership going - once it terminates all the separate parties start baying for their cut. There are a high percentage of shopaholic 'show wives' generally they are with a new provider instantaneously once their current one is out of the picture - however that happens. Irony is often such wives are penniless if the deal breaks for whatever reason. So technically even the clothes wouldn't legally belong to the wife all bought on credit cards owned by the package dealers even if her name is on the cards. Once her husband's money isn't chugging or flowing she'll be offered an out. Like Road Runners they're off as fast as their mascara dries after the initial shock & in the care of their new provider who expects to & can replace everything left - she doesn't need it.

Such a sad story about the family. It doesn’t appear theres a ton wrong with this house for the most part, it needs a lot of cleaning for sure and some repairs but it’s all fixable. The incomplete pool area and the outside needs a lot of attention/clean up too. But it’s got good bones, what a beautiful home, someone that had the financial means could fix it up and live there for sure after it receives the cleaning, completing, attention required to make it inhabitable again. I really hope somebody saves it before the apparent damage get worse or vandals discover the place and destroy it. I agree with you that it’s a shame those clothes and shoes are just sitting there when they could be used by people that need them. So sad what happened.

The "locked" doors were actually not rooms. They were elevator doors that only open when the elevator is on that floor. The call buttons were beside the doors to the right.

Dr. Ime S. Umanah, a Nigerian national, and Middleton acquired the property located at 9808 Bentcross Drive in Potomac, Maryland as joint tenants. Umanah granted Middleton power of attorney to act on his behalf. At some point, Umanah moved back to Nigeria. home was purchased from Connie the late doctor Hector collison wife whom built this home for his family but passed away with 15 year old son to soon to enjoy or afford, absolutely sad story all around.

Yeah the Mercedes looked like an AMG model with those wheels. Someone very small ,drove/owned it, the seat was pushed very close to the steering wheel. The VW looked to be close to new. Absolutely no wear on the top or the interior and was a 5 or 6 speed manual transmission. It looked like a 2009 or 2010 model. The Mercedes was older, probably early 2000's or late 90's model. It looked to be a nice car too. Looked like it had a two tone gray and blue leather interior to match the silver and blue top.

This is strange to watch because the owners of this house are (probably) still alive. They could be watching this and reading these comments. Imagine how you would feel seeing this, knowing the story and memory behind all of those items, and what has become of it. I don’t think I could take it.
