"1st woman lead Star Trek-production"? Ehm what abaout Star Trek Voyager? It`s been whole series with a women lead starship, from the beginning, to the end
People tend to forget history when they try to force a narrative they want. Personally I can care less who leads it just make a good movie with a great story and visuals.
It also says the trailer "will change Star Trek FOREVER!". I get the feeling this isn't actually in the video either. I'm getting so tired of clickbait videos, I'm starting to not watch TH-cam videos like I used to because almost every video title turns out to be a lie.
And Georgiou can't have Kirk as her role model, since she is older. I would in that way say that Kirk had Georgiou as his role model, however, it was more Pike.
As a lifelong Star Trek fan, I can say with absolute certainty that I don't give two shits about a Section 31 movie or TV show, and I doubt that there are many Trekkies that do. Nu Trek completely botched the entire premise of what Section 31 is. It is supposed to be a top secret, clandestine organization that works in the shadows, where only a very few people even know of its existence. They DO NOT have their own combadges, uniforms, super powerful ships, or even a headquarters, hence the super-secret clandestine part.
My personal problem is that 31 was supposed to be an evil whose necessity was up to debate. In DS9 they were almost always the antagonist, sure some of their plots gave the federation an advantage against the Romulans, but they also resorted to bio terrorism and genocide the moment the federation was threatened and it was ultimately Bashir stealing their anti dote that made a peacefull solution possible which they didn't even consider.
Sadly, Star Trek was changed forever when Kurtzman's Secret Hideout was given control of the franchise - and this change was not for the better - were now left with mindless action and stories written by people who consistently display their complete lack of understanding of what Star Trek is supposed to be about - but hey, enough explosions, mindless action sequences, add crying & hugging Starfleet crews and completely nonsensical storylines; maybe nobody will notice! R.I.P. quality Star Trek - something wonderful destroyed by ignorance and greed.
Kate Mulgrew's character Kathrin Janeway WAS the first female Captain both on TV series and on movies (she made a special appearance in one of TNG's movies). But it's true that Michelle Yeoh was one of the only good "things" on Star Trek Discovery and I'll be happy to see her again as Captain Giorgiou. I just hope she's not coming back along with Michael Burnham.
Section 31 ( dont care really ) Discovery S4 ( dont care really ) Starfleet Academy ( dont care ) ** Please make STAR TREK LEGACY **** Terry Matalas the only guy whos made good STAR TREK in 20 years
Yeah..., right. I'll believe it when I see it. Face it, the "NuTrek" shows are NOT "financial blockbusters". As an example, almost 7 years after the debut of "Star Trek: Discover", Paramount STILL hasn't released ANY ratings or viewer ship numbers for that show, which is NEVER a good sign. Additionally, the merchandise is NOT moving. So Section 31 allegedly being in "pre production" means NOTHING.
It would also be interesting to have a plot line where section 31 both exists and does not exist both simultaneously but it is held together somehow by a time paradox loop that must remain intact in order to better protect the timeline so that section 31 can continue to defeat any possible enemy that would threaten not only the timeline but also the universe.
It began as a series. But thinking about a Georgiou-led series, so much had to be re-worked after The Guardian of Forever (Carl) sent her back in time to before the Prime/Terran universes split. Didn't make sense for a series. A movie gave them more options & a definitive end.
