I was so enamoured with this band and this song when it was released. Fast forward just two short years to when I got to see them live at a festival. Massive let down, they lipsynched their entire set and the crowd from the front row to the rear of the stadium could see the fakery. The energy of the entire crowd of spectators dropped to almost nothing and the set was an epic fail. No wonder it took me more than 30 years to watch the band again. Yep, high energy catchy song, but the memory of the fake lipsynch version just drags it way down and I can't even enjoy it now. Bad decision by the band then and the memory still haunts me now.
*I WAS 19 AND MY LIFE WAS F-KING AMAZING* when this came out - got my first job and it paid proper money - night club 4 nights a week, not a care in the world...
I had a son in 1988 lol my life was also awesome but back then I was treated like I was a witch, so I acted like one and threatened to hex people who pissed me off 🤣 🤣 🤣 the 80s were fun and no cameras ❤
I was 19, too, and was visiting my then girlfriends oldest sister and this was playing on TOTP and her two oldest kids, (8+9), were looking at the TV, then looking at me, then back at the TV, then back at me before they asked their mum how I was able to be on the TV and in their house at the same time. Apparently, the guitarist looked exactly like me, lol.
I'm in love with the naughty minx all these yrs later. Quite beside my self in my 20s I was. My mum said she could see love hearts in my eyes n it was the only time I sat still 😂
The whole band had a pretty cool look here, the dark-haired boys with black leather jackets and white jeans, and blonde-haired Wendy with the black top. Almost like the early Manics - I‘m not sure if they ever mentioned Transvision Vamp, but I can see their pop-punk sound and their Top 10 success being an influence on the Manics.
I was twenty at this time & life was awesome, this track takes me back to life without mobile phones or social media etc. These days life is crap. We rely on all these gizmos to give us meaning. Whenever time machines get made, I’m go back to my youth & stay there.
I agree, I would have been 21 then. The internet had not even been born yet, people didn't demand to be seen and heard on social media and life was just a bit simpler...
I'm with you on the time machines--back to our youths indeed! The cellphones and social media are not going to give anyone meaning. Social media is basically a blight on the planet. Wendy and the band sound superb, love this tune!
Transvision Vamp, baby i don't care, my favorite Vamp track. Wendy James one of the sexiest ladies in music history, definitely made my eyes pop if you know what i mean.
This is the best song of 1989 and the best track Transvision Vamp ever did in my opinion. And Wendy James... looks stunning in this video... absolutely gorgeous ♥️
I played my 45 of this every day, after school, for about 2 years, dancing around my room taking my school uniform off, flinging it all over the place before putting my play clothes on. Awesome song. And the only thing I'd ever seen her on, on the telly, was Star Test. I was always so taken with how intelligent and well-spoke she was. It hardly mattered that she was beautiful as well. 34 years later, I've still got a thing for her.
Fook me but she was scorching back then!!! Jeezus - so many memories!! A great rocker of a track from a girl who could really belt them out in a voice that hit hard as nails or smooth as honey depending on the need - epic!
This plays at my local cinema on loop, so when I’m on my shift, I sit in the middle of the screen while this plays and stare at all the empty seats surrounding me… this song makes the isolated setting feel much better
Remember seeing her being interviewed..the guy said to her about her sexy persona..she just replied look mate I'm incapable of not being sexy.. Wendy not half..what a smasher
If I'm ever asked what was my first serious infatuation growing up I send them the link to this video. Brilliant pop punk and an amazingly attractive woman.
What a lovely lady! What a song! What an amazing inspiration! Debbie harry love you so much! You have been here and seen me through so much! And I love you so much for that! Thank you lots of love from Dave xxx 😊😊😊😊
@@jamesquinn5489yes James you are quite right! Why i wrote Debbie is baffling! (LOL 😂) I absolutely adorable them both! Never have I met Wendy but I have met Debbie 2 times. And on both occasions she provided herself to be true class as I am sure Wendy would be aswell!! If you see Wendy in interviews she certainly does come across as true class aswell!!! Have a lovely weekend James and thank you for correcting me! Enjoy your weekend Love Dave xxx 😊😊😊
I remember a massive life size poster of Wendy in the Sixth form Block at The Abbey School in Faversham where I taught for a couple of years. Shout out to pupils of 1990-1991.
A wonderful lady of her time. Which was yes, a pretty short time. Saw her live from the front row at Sheffield City Hall back in 1988/89 or so? At a guess. Spent the whole time looking RIGHT UP Wendy's mini at her keks. I couldn't name one song they sung to this day. And I do still listen to my old TV CD's occasionally.
Saw Transvision Vamp at Leeds Uni way back in the 1990’s… GREAT concert! Wendy on top form. What is sad is the speed at which the years fly by; seeing this video reminds me of better times. Wendy is still at it though with her fabulous voice, though the years are catching up with her too :-(
Wendy nearly sent me blind as a teenager😂 still smashing it in 2024 .
#metoo…..she’s been in my bank ever since I saw this😂
Wanking
I saw you the other day. I see you're still using that white stick.
Just think how good the uk was look at it now and I'd definitely use her knickers as a face mask only time I'd wear another
Yeah I was 11 when this came out. Immediately in love.
retro man 2024 looking for gold
Any young one watchin this, hang on and enjoy your youth as much as your possibly can. It wont last forever...
2024 listening to this great song and watching a absolute honey …great times back then ..
unlike today where everyone gets offended and cries about it and massive hissy fits
Wendy James absolutely drop dead gorgeous back in the day fact
After 35 years: fell in love again with the song, the band ... and Wendy!😄

In my 50's now. Wow! Loved this song. Good times.
I love you !!!!!!
Absolute Princess just couldn't help but fall in love with her back in the day
Back in the day? Hell, I'm in love with her now.
This is the first time I have ever heard of this group.
I find the appeal is that she is not a princess a sex goddess maybe
I'm in love with the naughty minx all these yrs later. Quite beside my self in my 20s I was. My mum said she could see love hearts in my eyes n it was the only time I sat still 😂
Absolutely brilliant song, and Wendy James always was gorgeous and she always will be ❤❤❤
However sex sells! :)
I dunno... she went a bit far with the plastic surgery I'm sorry to say. Sad.
@@GreatPolishWingedHussars Indeed. However, she is richer than you?
😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
I always wondered about Wendy being a blonde English bombshell. Then I found out she was adopted and is actually Norwegian apparently.❤

Haven't seen this video in about 30 years but reminded me of exactly why I fancied Wendy James so much back then. Gorgeous!
Rough as fuck nowadays
You and everyone else , Wendy could melt an iceberg .
How on earth that long, was you stuck in a cave or something???????
A real firecracker of a song. Go Wendy! We are a great generation.
Sparkly!
However sex sells! :)
God she was gorgeous

Love the band,and Wendy,so beautiful, great track,x
I'm 46 going on 47 and Wendy James still stirs my pot and dang her voice I now realise is timeless ...Her screams are phenomenal!!!
Just 47. Fancy jumping back in time with me??? 💥💥💥💥 and staying there?
Me 2. Im 48. Love Wendy James....!!!!
Gorgeous Wendy James ❤️😍
Wendy James fueled my ribald fantasies for 10 years . She STILL has it! On doc the most underestimated bands/ singer in the music industry.
Lol
"RIBALD FANTASIES".....:) yeah i guess we know what you really mean....but what happened after 10 yrs is the question?
I think she’s fuelled many ribald fantasies!
Yours and I would assume many others at that time.
Women wanted to be her, and men wanted to be with her.

one of the better songs from this generation and she was a stunner,,
still remeber this :-) and now i know im old 🙂
the opening 'woah' starting at 7 seconds is a great beginning to this catchy tune.
I was five when I saw this initially on TV and thought Wendy was pretty but why did she scream like that?
Transvision Vamp, baby i don't care, my favorite Vamp track. Wendy James one of the sexiest ladies in music history, definitely made my eyes pop if you know what i mean.
I do indeed 😁
Would not touch her with yours frankly...
Wendy James and Wendy O' Williams, nuff said?!
One absolutely, ferociously outstanding person. No air brushing back then, what you see is what you get beauty that can sing as well, love the Vamps.
Wendy was pretty close to ideal IMHO...except for the smoking!
This is the best song of 1989 and the best track Transvision Vamp ever did in my opinion. And Wendy James... looks stunning in this video... absolutely gorgeous ♥️
This is Wendy’s best song but #1989 belonged to #LisaStansfield..
aye she is a bonny lass

much better than it being your turn in the barrel!!!!!😅
Fisherman or navy?
Great song played it hundreds of times on the jukebox in 1989. Wendy James was a great in transvision vamp, good band
She is still rocking
We grew up with moon landings, super sonic airliners, star wars, and Transvision Vamp !
It seems like another universe.
So true! I buy her albums early 90's, LP and copy to C cassette and play in my car all the time. Those golden years...
you spent a long time growing up
I only remember Wendy James.
Ditto!
that singer is SO PRETTY!
Beautiful woman voice + Powerful guitar + Rock and Roll = Perfect Combination! Savvy?
Mujer preciosa que te manda al cuerno. Perfecto 😂😂😂😂

She was the reason that millions of teenage boys had so many odd socks
Grab the whole state!
Saw them play in Adelaide, Australia at a bar called Le Rox in the 80s. Great show and certainly fell in love that night, so cool and cute on stage!
Wow, I was there to !!!!!
Man the 80s was a blast.
Damn right 👊👊 it was mad
The more 80s music I listen to the more convinced I am that it was peak music...
I am starting to think the same... things started going downhill early 90s!
Never mind music it was the peak of humanity
Love this song and video. Very well done. Triggers memories.
Wendy James triggers boners.
Love this Song & Wendy James. I was 20 when this song came out. Had a huge crush on Wendy.
Great tune. She was absolutely gorgeous! ❤️
my first crush 💯%! Loved Wendy James then and still do now! Love the music too, absolute classic!!!

The late 80s.... they were great and made even greater by this gorgeous girl..!
Боже, какая она классная!, сейчас таких больше не делают(((

She was my absolute crush when i was young, I even married a woman that looked like 90% like her. She is timeless fabulous!
Damn you are hardcore cold 🥶...
Totally and utterly brilliant, seriously Far Out, Wonderful, wonderful, Wonderful, and WONDERFUL !
This was a hit back then and it still is..
No tats, fillers or botox! Incredibly sexy and a kicking voice!
Wendy is what all girls should be. She should be cloned. A tattoo on a girl is like seeing a scarred work of art.
80s hairy bush
Yep
It was my getting ready to go out song that summer. Loved Transvision Vamp.
I had a crush on this woman back in the day LOL!!
Saw her live in '89 wanted to be her with her fell head over heels ❤
