Thirty years ago, the Swedish pop sensation Roxette got their fourth US #1 single with ”Joyride” - the title track to their third album. With MTV being an ever increasing power in the early 90’s pop business, a spectacular - and costly - music video was a necessary element in the bag of tricks that could send a single all the way to the top.
And ”Joyride” truly was no exception. It became a strikingly playful video, with Marie and Per sometimes sitting on a Ferrari while a hidden driver operated the accelerator and break-pedals.
A joyride in 4K
But thirty years of heavy rotation had made its mark on the original video (which probably had been copied and then copied again, before disappearing out of sight), so a restoration was definitely due. As a part of the 30th Anniversary celebrations, the “Joyride” video has resurrected in a new and improved version with sparkling colours and amazing clarity in 4K resolution.

I got the Joyride vinyl LP as my 11 year old birthday gift in 1992. I still keep it and now I play it to my children to explain them how I used to listen to music in a time when there was no internet or spotify.
That's good. One of my cousins gave me the cassette of Joyride in 1991 - and I loved Roxette. As a boy I listened to my father's LPs. I wasn't surprised when, years ago, my hairdresser mentioned an 8 year old girl who thought her Dad's vinyl records were "big black CDs". Life used to be simple.

She was beautiful and such an outstanding vocal artist.
The last time Roxette were in Brisbane it would be one of their last tours to Oz. The most touching moment for me was at the end of the show, Per took Marie by the arm and led her from the stage like a true gentleman, I can't help but feel sorrow for her family and Per in particular in regards to her passing, such a terrible loss.
I forget how much I loved these two in the 1990s. I can’t believe Marie is gone. I think Roxette was way too underrated. Her voice is amazing. I love his voice as well. Together they were unstoppable at one point.

I remember buying this on tape when it came out, and how sweet the tape smelled, how good the cover looked, and how happy I was to listen to it. One of the first records I ever owned.
Roxette is my third favorite band of all time, and this album in especific its my fav from them, although i love all the others, especially Have a bice day, CBB and Room Service.

I am confounded that music so happy and upbeat came after the dreary and solemn hippie mellow 60's. Per says his favorite music is from the 60's which is even more unbelievable.
My god those guitar riffs/licks/chords are just incredible/heaven/perfect on the ears!!!!! Oh and of course the bass, drums, vocals, whistling etc too. So perfectly done, thank you Roxette!

Saw them in Cape Town in 94 with the Crash Boom Bang Tour...absolutely one of the best live acts to have seen! The guitar on this track is fantastic...frankly Per makes it wail in a distinctive way on any track. MARIE rocked that show...proper pop rock queen's voice. She is missed.
