I'd humbly suggest Northwest Passage by Stan Rogers as an unofficial Canadian anthem And while on this roll, how about Caledonia by Dougie Maclean as Scotland's?
@@rogerbuzacott2648 Northwest Passage is definitely a strong candidate for Canada; I'm an avid Stan Rogers fan, and that's a truly great song, telling of the long-time search for that elusive sea route. For Scotland, your mention of Caledonia brings to mind _Ferry Me Over_ by Andy M. Stewart, and its refrain: "Ferry me over, "Ferry me there, "To leave the hills of Caledonia "Is more than my heart can bear." I'd place that in the running for Scotland. For that matter, there's also _Fire in the Glen,_ by the same author. There's a really superb, mesmerizing version of it by a now-defunct female duo of Jennifer Culley and Brooke Parkhurst, that went by the name Clishmaclaver (a name which unfortunately for searching, has been used by others). They were local to the Washington, DC area around the 1990's, and they made some marvelous recordings; that song is on an album titled, "Roots Entwined," from a line in the Si Kahn song, _Luray Women,_ which they also do a top-flight job of, on that album. Unfortunately, due to its relative obscurity, it may not be possible to track down now. Fred
@AKM Saifuzzoha Chowdhury I didn't mean your *national* anthem. There are anthems that aren't officially "national" anthems; an anthem just sings the praises of some country. The other two anthems I mentioned in my main comment aren't national anthems, either. Fred
Actually, the US has 'God Bless America' lyrics and music by Irving Berlin and introduced and sung by Kate Smith which should be the US national anthem.

You know what's amazing? And I think most Aussies would agree with me on this, but you can be Timorese AND Australian at the same time. For us, it's not so much about where you were born as it is your spirit. Being Australian isn't a geographical thing, or a race thing, it's an attitude one.

@@andrewmccloud8581 But no one is celebrating British Heritage, it's a song about Australians, celebrating Australian heritage, only one line in the whole song talks about coming from Britain. Fuck Britain, Australians were already considered and considered themselves a separate culture from the British by 1830.
Lived in Australia for 4 years from year 2 to 5. Had to go back to my home country because the recession hit my family really bad. I’m now living in the US now but the 4 years I spent in this wonderful country is perhaps the best 4 years of my life.
That's really beautiful Jacob please feel free to come back. Thankyou & best wishes to you and your family I hope life is better for you now. ❤️
It couldn’t be a more important time than to sing this song ! 🇦🇺 This song is the PEOPLES CHOICE as the Australian National Anthem!
I mean its a good song but i still like advance australia fair over this. Advance is more about progress as a society and trying to improve australia this song is more about comming together from all cultures. I think advance is just has a better premiss of trying to make this country better were all people work together to make australia better for all
I love you Australia! I'm an aussie in my heart and will hopefully go there one day and if you want me I'll stay. Greetings from Costa Rica! 🇦🇺🇨🇷
Come over mate, you are welcome, we would love to have you here.
Your welcome Bernal love you to join us !
A beautiful song! God bless all Australians, plenty originating from Scotland .
Bless the Australians, the world is with you, we support you, the song brings tears to my eyes, love you, Esther
Sure am. A great Aussie song indeed and The Seekers sure do this song justice.
RIP our beautiful Judith. Such a pure angelic voice you shared with many. Thanks to the group - The Seekers.❤🇦🇺
I listen to this whenever I'm sad cause it cheers me up that I'm Australian and I'm proud to call myself an Aussie
I shed many tears while this song was singing by a girl on the day when I received my citizenship. All those images of different lives running through my heads along with the song. And my whole journey from many hardships and life risking situations to the point of being in that room becoming a nationality of one of the best country in the whole world. It’s just so crazy. I am super grateful and I swore on the spot that I will live my life to the fullest, keep improving and keep on giving. After all, I am Australian!
Judiths voice is so powerful. I'm not an Aussie, but this always makes me tear up.
I’m Canadian and this incredible song and performance has the same effect on me

Bruce Woodley, you are an amazing song writer. Every time I hear this song I get goosebumps. Absolutely amazing.
I live far away from Australia... But this song about the country is just awesome.. I really understand them who wants this to be the National Anthem. The lyrics just tells the complete story. It's so well writen and performed. Just gives me the chills... Thanks.
I’m so proud to be Australian and this should be our anthems
My husband and I love this song very much. We got teary eyes every time we play this and sing at the same time. Such a wonderful song for Australia and tells every thing I think and should be a national anthem too. This play a lot on ABC News every after news break. Love it
Happy Australia Day

It’s Anzac Day. And I can’t stop crying. They sacrificed so much for our peace ❤
I love our country, I love all those who come to stay, I love those who were here for thousands of years before us and are this countries spiritual wise men and women, I love those who we call brothers and sisters, all who wish to be Australian, because it’s not a race or a culture that makes you Aussie, it’s the fact we are all from different places, different colours and cultures- and we all have a story, but we beat with the same heart and this great land just does something to you, it’s great spirit fills you with peace ❤
I'm from the United States of America. I first listened to this song around the first of last week. It's such a beautiful and inspirational song. Very moving. It almost brings me to tears to listen to it. I just love this song. It's already one of my most favorite songs of all time, and my most favorite The Seekers' song.
What a fantastic and very beautiful song and what a wonderful country and people! Much respect from a great fan of Australia from Romania! God bless Australia! 🇦🇺

An amazing song. A huge thank you to the Seekers. We have almost completed our trip around Australia and I am so proud to be an Aussie.
I’m a mixed blood on this land born on Murray land but with Koori blood, Irish, Greek and Asian and I’m proud to say that this song gives me joy to listen too, if my family hadn’t have to hide and we still had our connections I’d be proud to learn of our tribal family and ways. The best part of it was being to volunteer at 4K1G Too Deadly
I'm from Indonesia and have been heard this song since 5th grade. When some Australian elementary teachers came to my school. This is truly a great song and makes my heart warms everytime I hear this ✨
Heard this during a bus tour of Sydney last month. Had to find it and am absolutely delighted to have discovered this here. Thank you for posting this. Every nation needs an anthem like this that each citizen should sing full-throatedly every morning with enormous pride. I
I love this song, because not only does it remind people that Australians have been here for tens of thousands of years, but many of us were brought here without much say in the matter as well. Convicts, first nations people, and many settlers, were all treated like second class citizens, if they were treated like citizens at all, by the British Empire.
No more than now as we are in the hell of these fires, does this song ring true. 🇦🇺
And the virus now that threatens us all.
@@skullsaintdead credit where credit is due, the response to COVID-19 by the federal government has been absolutely phenomenal - as opposed to the fires. No place I'd rather be right now than home in Australia.

Is so many bushfire because thank you 🙏 for Australia
For South Australia and victoria last year
The U.S. has _This Land Is Your Land,_ by Woodie Guthrie;
Canada has _The Railroad Trilogy,_ by Gordon Lightfoot;
Australia has this song by Bruce Woodley of The Seekers.
I'm American, and jealous of you Aussies. What a magnificent anthem!

I'd humbly suggest Northwest Passage by Stan Rogers as an unofficial Canadian anthem
And while on this roll, how about Caledonia by Dougie Maclean as Scotland's?
@@rogerbuzacott2648 Northwest Passage is definitely a strong candidate for Canada; I'm an avid Stan Rogers fan, and that's a truly great song, telling of the long-time search for that elusive sea route.
For Scotland, your mention of Caledonia brings to mind _Ferry Me Over_ by Andy M. Stewart, and its refrain:
"Ferry me over,
"Ferry me there,
"To leave the hills of Caledonia
"Is more than my heart can bear."
I'd place that in the running for Scotland.
Not our anthem but would be good
Oh my God... I couldn't stop crying... there is nothing to add but - on the inner plane - this IS the true anthem 🇦🇺
To an 'all inclusive' Australia day ❤😇🕊
Not many songs bring tear to my eye, but this is one for sure, definitely should be our National Anthem. I am, You Are, Were All Australian.
This song makes me proud to be Australian! ❤️
The Australians came to our school in East Timor and they teach us how to sing that song
I’m Timorese btw and we love this song
Specially in this line “We are one but we are many, and from all the lands on earth we come, we’ll share a dream and sing with one voice, I am You Are, we are Australian”
Even though I’m not Australian but we can be friend😊
(Belated) Happy Independence Day Kim and to all Australia's friends in East Timor.
You know what's amazing? And I think most Aussies would agree with me on this, but you can be Timorese AND Australian at the same time. For us, it's not so much about where you were born as it is your spirit. Being Australian isn't a geographical thing, or a race thing, it's an attitude one.
@@remielpollard787 No you cannot be Timorese and Australian at the same time. Australia was built on a racial policy. The first law passed when we federated was the Immigration Restriction Act of 1901, AKA the White Australia Policy.
@@Azetay67 don't know if you've noticed or not, but it's not 1901 anymore, and those laws were repealed a long time ago, which makes them irrelevant.
@@remielpollard787 They are relevant because they were the entire reason we federated and became a nation. The people who made this country what it is all believed in a White Australia. The people who fought and died in WW1 and WW2 were fighting for the British Empire and a White Australia.
I am your neighbor, Indonesian.. it such a heartwarming song to be honest.. i cry alot listening to this.. what a moving song.. IMMORTAL GOLDIES #WeareAustralian
