It makes me cry too. I try to sing along proudly but my voice always breaks from being so choked up from emotion. It acknowledges the custodians of our great southern land as being the first Australians, it acknowledges the convicts from my ancestors and is all inclusive for every person in Australia. Definitely should be our national anthem.

@@patkelly6349how to say I didn't understand what the voice entailed, without saying I didn't understand what the voice entailed. Well done - you are one of the over 70% of fellow Aussies that made our indigenous feel like second class citizens in their own country. Go and do some nursing in the outback, as I have, and you would see that our indigenous are not treated the same as every other person. I called the coppers 20 years ago for an indigenous lady that was being sexually assaulted in real time in my back lane in Kalgoorlie - the coppers didn't even COME!! So, do you still think we are all the same? My sister worked in family and children's service and her stories are more gut churning than my nursing stories. The voice wasn't about wokeness. Why do you think that the aged pension is released for indigenous 10 years before us whites?? If we are all the same then why is their life expectancy at least a decade less than ours?? You should have done some actual research before you closed your mind.

I think the differences between our two nations are that the US values are religious beliefs, reverence for the military and veterans, respect given to power and wealth. We are almost a secular nation, our values are cultural as opposed to political, and everyone is regarded as more or less equal. It's not perfect, but more harmonious.

Me too. I migrated to Australia from the UK in 1988 as a grown-up but I loved the Seekers when I was a little girl and Judith's beautiful voice always sent shivers down my spine. The Seekers were a great band and I think they were more popular around the world than they ever were in their home country. Still very sad that it took the Australian media 3 days to report Judith's untimely death; sometimes I think Australia is so desperate to be seen as "cool" on the world stage it forgets its humanity.

David, there is no female singer past or present that comes vaguely close to Judith Durham's voice. So called stars like the one that dumped Glenn Wheatley from being her manager after he got her famous should eat humble pie after they listen to Judith Durham's voice as she can actually sing ! Unlike a certain American singer who squeals in one of her famous "songs"

It's really sad to see such a divide - and the people that say "we're fine" meaning the whole of Australia - should be saying "I'm fine" as they are only speaking for themselves. Thousands are protesting, Govt and media not listening, lies, lies and more lies, power hungry politicians who don't listen to their people :( However, This song and The Seekers - yes we can be proud of that!
