Dr. Berg, My son is 28 years old with Autism, non verbal. I start my son on clean ketogenic diet/16/8 in sept.of 2022. Now we are in the mid november of 2022. In just 2 months my son got way better, with his focus, he actualy look at me when i talk, he lost from 210 lbs down to 180, his blood sugar from 140 down to 72, blood pressure from 139/ 95 down to 117/73. I am so happy for him. I only wish i new about this awesome diet way earlier. I was watching youtube on TV, and that's when i saw about KETO/AUTISM. That's when i took action. Becouse i start it back in july of 2022, and keto/ketovore/ fasting, now i am carnivore/omad help me with my own health too. We thank God, that we don't have to kill ourselfs anymore with those toxic meds, or poison carbs and sugary fake sweets, ever again. Ketogenic diet for my son and carnivore diet for me, it work for us, and we are taking care of our body by eating a clean PEOPER HUMAN DIET/FASTING. Thank you dr. Berg, great youtube video👍👌👍👌

That's great. I thought you may like to know, there's a strong connection between gut microbiome health and mental health, and between gut dysbiosis and autism. Repairing gut health is essential, it may bring great improvements, the Keto diet helps but it won't be enough without probiotic rich foods. Fermented foods, as natural yogurt, kimchi, kefir, fermented vegetables which can be easily made at home, will bring the good bacteria that restore gut microbiome health and heal leaky gut, thus improving or reversing many conditions including autism. I hope this helps you, wishing for great things to you. 🌟

I'm just about on the spectrum and let me tell you. I'm currently 28, from the ages 25-27 I lived by myself and controlled my own diet, doing alot of fasting and removing the foods that the dr here mentioned helped me tremendously ease my own autism. Now I'm back at my parents house and I'm eating what they have always fed me, breads dairy etc, I can feel a distinct difference in myself that leads me to believe that my parents diet which iv been eating since I was born has directly affected my autism. It's not their fault but it is. The difference is night and day when it comes to diet. Also I'd like to throw in that during my time living by myself I played around with low carb and keto and I concluded that alot of the autism I was experiencing came from an excess of insulin in my body. Insulin I believe has influence in my own autism.

Your parents (like all of us), did not know at the time the effects of sugar and carbs on the entire body and it's system. I am only just learning now at the age of 57. It's never too late for us to learn. Maybe you should show your parents this video to educate them. I'm glad you've made imperative changes to your diet and lifestyle. I have been doing keto and fasting for 2 years and I have learned a lot from your TH-cam channel, so when I noticed changes in my 1 year old son back then, I knew it was autism and I started changing his diet to keto when he turned two without letting his aba therapist know and after consulting his doctor, 2 weeks later I was told by the therapist that he has been alert and responsive and I’m so glad I followed my heart and put him on a ketogenic diet when I did. Also, his eye contact has improved a lot and he responds to his name 4 time out of 10. He is 3 now and I’m planning to continue this path.

I have noticed, however, that fasting, removing gluten from my diet and increasing my intake of omega 3 fatty acids improves my symptoms significantly. I am much more confident in social gatherings of any kind, for example.

I'm on the spectrum too. I have P.D.D. The therapy thing sounds like that you struggle in regards to your own moral dilemma, which isn't helped due to having autism and possibly a troubled upbringing. My suggestion is to look up Stefan Molyneux's non agression principle, this helped me a bunch and gave me moral ammunition to challenge and shut down people who force me into situations that I don't want to be in.

But I wasn't diagnosed with it until now TwT and I'm already a teen TwT
The doctor said " It's often missed in girls than it is with boys " and that is honestly very true. My mom used to work with a boy who had autism and she said " It was like talking to my daughter but on a different level". The only difficulty that is there for me is school TwT
Most schools aren't taught about Autism in girls, only in boys so that often creates trouble for me. So far everything is going fine.

I went dairy free and mostly ate chicken and vegetables. I bought children's powdered probiotics and when she started drinking water she had that once a week. 3 meals without snacks helped her but she was so picky so I had to sneak foods in. The only issues I find is controlling my hectic thoughts and not getting lost inside my own head. Three meals a day one small dessert. I remember being active outside all the time running and playing - burning off calories and getting vit d from the sun. My daughter may or may not even be autistic. But she will not even eat chocolate if it has words or "designs" on it. It has to be smooth. No gummy bear-shaped vitamins. Won't eat a cupcake because it has zig-zag edges. She is 5; she knows these things are tasty but she cannot bring herself to do it. She is also very compassionate and decided to be a vegetarian. Which, I don't blame her. It makes sense to her; she doesn't want anything with "killed animals" in it. So I try to get her to eat more eggs from our chickens. Texture issues there too! We're just trying to get by and get enough fat & protein into her (with mostly cheese), and micronutrients. Which she gets mostly from fruit. Keto is a no-go for us.

Vaccines cause autism, along with ALS, Alzheimers, child leukemia, Mast Cell Disease, Lupus, MS, Asthma, autoimmune disease of all types, Polio... as happened with the OPV, which was funded by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; it was his vaccine. It caused OPV Type 2 polio, as well as death of many African children. The scientists in Africa found that the polio the children had was from the vaccine strain... and the CDC had to acknowledge it, because what else could they do. Mainstream media should be reporting on all of this, but they will not, as they are more than 70% funded by the pharmaceutical companies. Vaccines are one of the most destructive, and deadly poisons to human kind. Glyphosate is also very dangerous, but not the cause of autism.

Hello, I just saw this comment and thought, you may like to know about the connection between gut microbiome health and brain/mental health, and there are many studies showing a connection between gut dysbiosis and autism. What this means is that by repairing the gut microbiota, healing leaky gut, restoring the child's body's ability to properly absorb nutrients and remove toxins, the symptoms could be greatly improved and even that autism could be reversed. I have read about this, it really can happen. All that is needed is to help the child to eat a healthy, natural foods diet, and add probiotics through fermented foods. For example, natural yogurt with the live cultures in it, or fermented vegetables which can be easily made at home. Conventional medicine does not know about this. There's even a special diet called the GAPS diet, created specifically for treating autism. I just wanted to say, there are great hopes for your granddaughter, do try reading about this and taking care of the diet changes, it could bring amazing results. Wishing for healing and great things to you 🌟

My sons are all adults now, but 2 of the 3 are diagnosed and disabled due to autism spectrum issues. Middle son now 30 is diagnosed as autism and OCD (combative disorder) though in grade school was PDD-NOS. He is low functioning, was aggressive (less now but as he approached puberty dangerous), he beats himself in the face. I don't know, the only sure trigger I felt sure to avoid was red food dye increased the combativeness. He also had a difficult birth, had a bruise over the soft spot, they did an EKG as school thought he had seizures but they said no on that. My youngest son is PDD-NOS, like a 2nd or 3rd grade boy in the body of a 6'3" 250lb Viking. Generally a gentle person, a master of electronics and finding the most bizarre content on TH-cam.
My high school science teacher had sent information on vaccines, to me I never saw a connection from the records, I saw problems with their development prior to vaccinations. The middle son was combative in the womb, screamed like he had colic from the time he came out and had night terror screaming through childhood. I relate to my own nightmare prone childhood and sleep paralysis of my early 20's including full on auditory hallucination with one episode.
Given today's diagnostics I think myself, my father and my oldest son all could have gotten a broad spectrum diagnosis, example my mom talks about how I never wanted to be held and I see I was always screaming in my baby photos, bad eye contact etc. I was just considered shy, but maybe it is something more. Still it was years and years of having to face life, work and develop to become a reasonably social person though inside you are normal. Can't describe it but of course you always craved contact even though I would literally push affection away.
Diet, to me it is treating the symptom and not the root cause. I believe there is a complex variety of genes involved, that it is largely hereditary and that it is a part of the long seen syndrome of the tortured artist - talent and disability or Einstein great brain power and lack of body consciousness. Change in diet, good foods won't hurt certainly. Keto is good, I do think when in full ketosis I am healthier and helps control overeating. Hard to compare I had a high carb youth combined with easy time on academics. Keto and diet as a cure for autism? I will say probably not. Perhaps therapeutic and eliminate a trigger? OK ... But good structure in life (was hard for me as a fly by the seat of your pants person) and work on problem behaviors, work on communication (their main shortcoming) and love them, yes. :)

    • @Blossom-73
      @Blossom-73 4 ปีที่แล้ว

I believe you since my niece avoided eye contact as a baby and she never spoke and walk. But there are many cases of children who were born fine and got autism at the age of 2 and 4. So the cause that made those children autistic is not in their genes so Keto diet can help and cure those children. Also children who were exposed to complications shortly before or during birth, including birth asphyxia and preeclampsia became autistic.
But for my niece and all the children who were born autistic I really don't know. Her mother insists that the reason her daughter became autistic was a nurse's fault. The nurse threw the stroller with the medical tools to the floor and the noise was terrible. And that happened at the same time the baby was born and baby got very scared from the noise. A very bad welcome to the world for the the baby.

So just do everything that was needed to be done from the beginning for your child Now, because the same problem that was there then when he was a child, is the Same problem that's still there now while he's an adult, and the Same solution is still there to help him. The increase in autism in recent years may be partially atributable to the fear surrounding preformed vitamin A (retinol), causing people to avoid it too much. There was a human study conducted that found that a single high dose of vitamin A mitigated much of the symptoms of autism. I don't recommend this approach (vitamin A can definately be dangerous in very large quantities), you should work with a doctor or stick to dietary guidelines, but it does provide evidence of benefit.

I have been on a keto diet during different periods of my life and I didn't see any change whatsoever in my autistic symptoms. My mother, who is also austistic has been on a keto diet for decades and there has been no change in her autistic behaviors/traits. Neither of us have ever had digestive or intestinal problems. We were both breastfed. I think the dietary component may exacerbate symptoms for some people, but the underlying neurological condition is not caused by it. Having a healthy diet and taking your Vit. D certainly won't harm you, and has benefits for your general health, but it may nor may not help your symptoms of autism.

My son has major food aversion and sensory overload with food. He only eats his "safe" foods. Unfortunately it's carbs, cheese, sugar.... Junk! He's 13 and he is extremely anxious if I even mention a diet change. Idk how I would stop gluten and dairy and sugar.... He doesn't give in to hunger. He REFUSES to eat it if it's not safe to him.

Digestive Enzymes for gluten and dairy. They have major trouble with the gluten and casein proteins having a morphine-like reaction in their brain. The enzymes break the protein down before it can do damage. Read "the Un-prescription for Autism" by Janet Lintala. It'll change your life.
Edit: And really make sure you read her book and do your research. Don't just go buy some enzymes and give them to him. The enzymes have to be introduced slowly. As the enzymes start to work and break down the proteins the brain begins to be starved of it's morphine. If you go to fast it'll be like a drug addict coming off of drugs. The withdrawal will be brutal for him and he will probably be very irritable. Read and research before you act. Also check out the AutismOne TH-cam channel and the conference they have every year. Many good doctors and information there.

If he refuses to eat then it helps his fasting, which only benefits the brain. Ultimately he will give in to hunger and the healthy alternative (preferably organic) foods that you offer when he breaks his fast will taste better, due to the heightened state of hunger and it tricking his taste buds.

As someone on the autistic spectrum myself with ADHD and asperges syndrome level 1/2 I know that I have abilities that far exceed the norm of people with out such conditions. The only issues I find is controlling my hectic thoughts and not getting lost inside my own head. How I've managed to utilize my conditions with maximum effect in my life, is by understanding my passions which then creates hyper focusing, which not only goes in to an incredibly obsessive yet extremely creative field but also gives me a calming presence. Much love to you all : )

There are a few studies out suggesting Pitocin is a factor of autism. What do you think about that? I am in a job where I have direct access to pregnant women and a majority of those who discussed their autistic children said they had a difficult pregnancy and were given pitocin. Coincidence??? I am a huge supporter of vaccines, but they need to tell the truth to people that they changed the formula of vaccines and then the amount of autistic children dropped. Coincidence??? I think everything you said in his video is spot on. I absolutely love your channel.

I really want to try all of these recommendations but my son who is 4 and mildly autistic, is EXTREMELY picky and wont try anything new. The only foods he will eat are toast with pb&j/cream cheese, mac and cheese, cheese and crackers, pancakes, cereal (I use one made from beans and use almond milk). I have tried getting him to eat only what we are eating for dinner, and hed rather starve. I dont know what to do...I give him prebiotics and probiotics with a daily multivitamin. I'd love to take away dairy but then I'm not sure what hed eat. I do buy gluten free bread...help!!

Glucose is the brain's preferred energy source. Even if you don't eat a single carbohydrate, the liver will produce some amount of glucose (about 30% minimum according to studies) just for the brain's basal requirements. The brain in general does better on carbs than ketones. Studies show glucose helps neurons fire within tighter tolerances - it literally makes your thinking sharper. Keto is great for some things, but it is not a solution for everything and it is not a long term solution. The real solution is to fix the mitochondrial dysfunction - the things getting in the way of proper glucose metabolism.

Dr Berg thank you for your research and sharing your knowledge of the keto life. I weighed 192lbs I now weigh 155lbs. I have a question, my grandson will be 4yrs old in July 2020 is has autism and does not speak. He is very picky with food. He is still drinking a bottle and all he wants to eat is cream of wheat maple brown sugar. They have tried not giving him anything for half the day to see if he is really hungry and will eat what is given to him. He will not eat. He just wants milk and his cream of wheat. He does like the goldfish snacks and Cheetos which I know is all wrong and bad but we don't know what to do to get him to eat healthy????
