Excellent.... Ive built a 6m x3m shed very similar to this but low slope apex roof (tin) and an L shape similar size garden room and can attest to the costs. If you can stretch on the cost and plan your roof space right, you can further capalize with solar panels. Also, in my case, ive laid all the main SWA cables and my solar uses micro inverters so the solar uses the same wires as the feed to the buildings. There is a bit of cost saving here since when they come to fit the solar, all the main electrics will be done and consonsumer units oversized to accommodate the extra spare ways for sockets and lighting hence saves me getting an electrician in for the end point connections and consumer units and it will all be proper registered with building control (two birds with one stone)
You also missed off the cost of the plasterer - I appreciate everything else can be done with the "help of a mate" i.e cutting wood and digging/filling the base, but the plastering is a skilled trade that "normal" people would have to pay for.
It could be a workshop, home gym, garden room, home office or somewhere to run a business from. I'd say it would be a great way to add value to a property and a great way to learn alot of DIY along the way. 👍
I'd have been tempted to just tape and joint rather than skim but it is a great finish. Good job as usual. Still trying to get my finance director to sign off my garden room build...
Good series, quite the mark up for labour but when you consider thr various trades involved its not hare to see why it mounts up. Will you be doing any videos on kitting the place out?
Thoroughly enjoyed watching this series... Have a slightly green envy look at the moment to be honest! I wish I had the space to build something, smaller admittedly, but this is absolutely wonderful! Would you have considered any sort of alternative to plastering the interior? Some form of cladding or wood lining maybe? Just curious. 🙂
Awesome stuff, would you be able to tell us about the regulation side of things if it isn't already in a video? Like building control and an EIC for the electrics (did your friend certify your electrical work?). As far as I'm aware you need building control approval if it's close to the border which yours is. Thinking of doing something similar and pretty confident with the actual work but confused on the admin stuff. Thanks!
Damn that was fast. I see the vid 18 hours after upload and the competition is already sold out. Build looks great. Hope you get a lot of use out if it.
That speedskim is too narrow for a pro plasterer - I think that's the smallest one they do (looks about 2 foot? 24 inches, I have a 22 inch skimming trowel). Either way, it's not much bigger than a normal sized trowel. Try a 3-4 foot one, you'd have that ceiling flattened in a few passes end to end.
Nice job, thanks. Are you still planning on doing a video on a garage personnel door? I think if you approach Latham's door they will probably help you out ;)
Brilliant build, remember watching the laying of the concrete base. Will have to catch up on the rest of the series. Im sure ill be tempted to have a go myself also. Meanwhile, please can you advise if a building this size needs planning permission? I notice also the building is close to the boundary on the left side, how close are we allowed to build?
Why do you suppose that in the USA we only cover the joints and feather them out, as opposed to covering the entire surface with compound as you guys do?
Taking off electrics, do you think you could do a Quinetic retro fit? Yes, I've got a few and they are brilliant but fitting has been a nightmare Thanks
I don’t I’m afraid. You should be able to save all the videos to a playlist or watch later and follow along step by step. If you want extra advice then join the DIY club and message me and some of the guys on the discord group and we will be able to guide you through the build 👍
Hey mate. It’s in the description but if you can’t find it, here you go 😀 raffall.com/365045/enter-raffle-to-win-dewalt-cordless-power-tool-bundle-hosted-by-the-diy-guy-competitions
Just wanted to say I've really enjoyed watching this build come together - nice one 👍
Awesome, thank you!
Every day is a school day. I am a builder but learnt a lot from this series of video.

Thanks for a great series, has really helped me learn and given me the confidence to build my own next spring, better start saving!
Love the content pal, keep up the good work
Great series! One of your best yet. Looking forward to seeing what else you do in the future.

Absolutely! I will be updating you guys in the coming months as to its use and kit out
Nice build. Great job and some really good info👍👍

You can get a good finish with tape and joint 😀
Really enjoyed this series, such a great build, it looks awesome!
Glad you enjoy it!
Thank for sharing everything! Great stuff. Really helps us out there.
Great series! Professional build, love the attention to detail, and the overall look. Thanks for sharing with us! Enjoy it!

Well done mate 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Very nice. Are you going to do a follow up of you kitting it out?
That's the plan! Thanks
hi mate, really quality videos, anything on fitting lightweight coving, skirtings and architrave
Thanks a million. You gave me some ideas of how to do my project. I did save a few pounds on your videos.👏👏👏
Glad I could help!
@@TheDIYGuy1 👍
Superb build love what you've done!
Did you not think about adding a window for some room ventilation?
Please do a new series on building a rear extension
It takes more time to move the ladder than connecting a quick wire downlight 😂 Good work!

Love your series and used it as great inspiration for my own build, great job man! 👍👍
Thanks bud. Always good to inspire others as I’m sure you will with your channel 😀

Damn that was fast. I see the vid 18 hours after upload and the competition is already sold out.
Build looks great. Hope you get a lot of use out if it.
I know. We’ve some more great opportunities to win tools coming soon.
Glad you like the build

Awesome build and 12K is a great price. 👏👏❤️🇬🇧
Yes indeed! Totally agree
Looks great man, always well paced quality videos thanks
Glad you like them!
Sold out quick!
Are you going to fit out the interior. That would be really interesting. What shelves are you using etc?
Yep, I will do a video as there’s big plans for the workshop 😃
As always a very professional job! 👍
Thanks again!
Looks brilliant, top job! 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
👍👍👍. Thank you
Nice job, thanks. Are you still planning on doing a video on a garage personnel door? I think if you approach Latham's door they will probably help you out ;)
I am indeed. It’s part of a future project and I will have a chat to lathams haha!

Thanks. Check out the rest of the series where I explain the permitted development rules for you 😀
Why do you suppose that in the USA we only cover the joints and feather them out, as opposed to covering the entire surface with compound as you guys do?
I have learned a lot, Thank you!
Glad to hear it!
Another added cost for regular folk would be tools
brilliant job well done
Thanks a lot
AWSOME.
Glad you like 👍
Taking off electrics, do you think you could do a Quinetic retro fit?
Yes, I've got a few and they are brilliant but fitting has been a nightmare
Thanks
Quite possibly! Thanks
RCD main switch and ringmain on a 16A 😫😫
Do you have plans available mate? This is something I’m really keen to undertake

Get yourself a pair of A2 P3 Filters for that 3M mask mate. Better for spraying.
Thanks 🙏
Defo don’t think I would be able to to it like u
Why no jointing compound between plasterboards?
Not required 👍
Great build, will you be meshing the bottom to stop vermin?
Good question. It’s something I do want to do 👍
Looks great 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
16a breaker and wired as a ring? 🤔 No need to be a ring if less than 32a
I would have put the paint in the bucket first, then used the water to rinse out the pot.
👍
you said it was over budget - may i ask what was your budget?
I think it’s a bargain at that price but the wife wouldn’t. Thanks for the videos keep them coming
Me too! My better half doesn’t either😂
Johnstones paint is far superior than Dulux
Hey pal .. WHY don't u get a switch bot trigger switch. No hub needed. Then u can set the outside lights on app timer. Just idea
Good idea that!
I’ve got to say your very good
I appreciate that 😄
did it require planning? as it's 6mx4m? I thought max under permitted was 15sq Metres?
Nope no planning needed. Thanks
What are you going to use it for? Maybe once it's kitted out give us an update? 😊
Oh yea I intend to update you very soon 😊. Something big is coming
No videos on guttering?😢
I thought it was going to be a workshop, if it's a garden room, why a roller shutter and no doors and windows?
You’ll see in future. But it’s a workshop and something else!
I've purchased 5 tickets. Wish me luck 😅
Good luck!
Epic job. I think I’d be paying £25k if I wanted one 😝
Hah you can do it!
No windows or skylights?
Nope, security reasons
I would have thought this would be more secure than your house ! Why is it a security issue ??🤔
Neat.
Thanks
Where’s the raffle link?👍🙏
Hey mate. It’s in the description but if you can’t find it, here you go 😀 raffall.com/365045/enter-raffle-to-win-dewalt-cordless-power-tool-bundle-hosted-by-the-diy-guy-competitions
@@TheDIYGuy1 missed it😢I’ll be quicker next time 🙏👍
Haha no worries. Something big is coming soon so keep an eye out! Cheers
👍
😁
I missed the raffle 😢
Looks great, now just to get some man glitter (sawdust) on the floor
😂 that’s the plan
👍 👍 Sir
Thanks as always 😃
10:41 exposed wire? I know you can't do that yourself DIY guy, as it is in the consumer unit but that to me is a big safety concern
And tools to do the job 5k.
XL underpants on the washing line ..... 🙄
😂
I need tools
Sorry but not the clean install the consumer unit should have been
