I came back after 18 months away the problem is after 180 days out of the country my uk travel insurance is over and medical insurance mainly non uk and very very expensive .
Thanks for sharing your experience. I have been living in Thailand for the last 6 years, I decided rightly or wrongly to self insure. Concerning health insurance, I believe that you would need to declare all past medical problems however small. So you would have to obviously declare your blood clot and I assume blood clots would then be excluded from the insurance. So if you buy health insurance, come back to Thailand then have another blood clot you would still have to pay for any medical help yourself. Am I right or have I misunderstood? Thanks in advance, Keith
Good message. I also have great medical insurance. I’ve seen so many TH-camrs say medical care is so cheap in S.E. Asia pay it yourself. It’s so wrong most expats don’t have the money for anything serious. Trust me I was in Bumrungrad hospital and my insurance paid over 3m bhat.
Yes, having medical insurance is the right way to go, but it doesn't always work out that way! I live in Thailand and I had expat medical insurance. When an MRI scan indicated possible prostate cancer, my insurance company (a French company) cancelled my insurance immediately, refused to pay for my medical bills and refused to refund any of the thousands of USD that I had paid them over the previous couple of years. I was forced to return to the UK for hospital treatment on the NHS which happily found no prostate cancer (the MRI scan in Bangkok actually found 2 benign calcium stones in my prostate). So I was able to return back to my home in Thailand. Why did my insurer refuse to pay out? Because they said that I did not disclose all my medical history when I took out the insurance. Even though the minor medical issue that I didn't disclose had nothing to do with prostate cancer, it was a reason for them to wriggle out of paying for my medical treatment. The moral of my story is: If you take out medical insurance, absolutely disclose every medical condition or operation that you have ever had in your entire life! (For my new insurance cover, I disclosed a bunion, a bicycle accident when I was 10 years old, an ingrowing toenail etc etc!!). By disclosing everything, if the insurer accepts to cover you, there is nothing at all that they could use at a later date to deny paying for any medical treatment.
A similar issue with Thai medical insurance. Checked at Bumrungrad Hospital. Found a cancer marker. Was tested from head to toe with various tests. Thankfully everything was fine. The testing was expensive. Bills were submitted to the insurance company, and insurance refused to pay, based on the fact I, "wasn't sick." No matter what we said, the insurance company still refused to reimburse because I "wasn't sick." ......lesson learnt. Scrutinize every damn word in the contract, as they will do somersaults to avoid payment.
Having been diagnosed with what appeared to be a Pulmonary Embolism, you are advised to take a 13 hour ride in a pressurised cabin at 40,000 feet. Just about the worst thing to do. But this is Thailand. Nothing is quite what it seems, that’s just outrageous. But remarkably, you survived the trip home. Good for you, now go buy a lottery ticket! If ever you doubt the need for decent Medical insurance just read this folks!
They didn't say it was in Thailand l, they said it was my heart, I'm starting to lose the will to live, saying the same thing, if I had medical insurance, they wouldn't of paid anything at all I'd of paid the same
Problems are in Thailand is getting a insurance company you can trust a friend of mine had medical insurance and she fell on the bad pavement in Pattaya and broke her shoulder she contacted her insurance company who refused to pay for her treatment because she forgot to put down on her medical form something that happened to her arm 40 years ago cost her a fortune poor girl absolutely disgusting
You now have a pre existing condition. And heart problems and clotting it will be near impossible or very expensive to get travel insurance, from now on. You will most likely be prescribed Eliquis thats what they prescribe here in the USA. It is very expensive. They cause the problem and make you dependent on there pills to live.
I can guarantee you the insurance companies know what's going on with the vaccine injured. And will protect themselves accordingly by denying coverage.
I use pharmacies, next is the government hospital and finally for serious cases I will use my health and accident insurance in a private hospital. If I end up paying tax as a tax resident I will be showing my tax ID number at a government in the off chance. Tax is for government services not a money grab.
Good info on this video about what happens if you don't have insurance. I am headed to Thailand end of September to middle of October. Heading south to Krabi. Btw if you did have insurance do you still have to pay at the hospital for the treatment and then claim the money back yourself or does the hospital go to the insurance company for payment (if you show them your insurance docs) ?
Thanks for sharing. You are a lucky man! A friend was diagnosed with severe CAD. He needed immediate surgery. He was admitted to a Thai Govt hospital. No Insurance. He never checked out! Everyone living (long-term overseas) anywhere needs health insurance. Anyone over 50 definitely needs to sign up for health insurance and NEVER let it lapse. Even then, insurance has its limits.
Damn, man, I remember joking that you survived the castle because you didn't post a video for a long time... I didn't know the castle was that bad (joke) But I am glad you are back on your feet now (this 5 months after video was posted) As you I am on the verge of not being old to being old. And yes I won't go with outh insurance.
Good honest vlog butt. Looking forward to meeting you in Pattaya i arrive 26th October. If you remember i live in Sweden now and have home insurance which covers first 45 days of a vacation always good to have as you now realize:)
ive been to the baukhouw clinic at least 10 time over 13 years...cheap enough that i never make a claim on my insurance....penicillin shot in the ass and an iv drip that takes forever as its not hooked up to a machine to power pump it in you...and youre good to go the next day...i wouldnt step foot outta canada without travel insurance...
I wonder how long its going to be until insurance companies ask for your 2021 safe & effective jab status upon application? And how much extra its going to cost to be covered?
@@welshboywebbyI get that, but this video is about insurance and your medical nightmare that is obvious to any critical thinker was made much more likely to happen because of the needles.
Travel insurance probably wouldn't have helped in this instance as even annual policies have a fixed number of days from 30, 60 or 90. What you need is a Thai health insurance policy
That's what I'm on about, I live there, so travel insurance is pointless, I'm trying to get proper medical cover, but it's crazy what they are asking for me now and I'm only 51
IF you cannot get insurance or its coverage is severely restricted then only choice is to self-insure and for Thailand this now requires substantial financial reserves put aside -minimum B5 million imho
Thank you for your video , I’ve been to Thailand three times for 3 month stays each time and although I have insurance in my home country it doesn’t cover me there, I feel like I rolled the dice each time , and now after seeing your video I will definitely get it for my next trip. I’m curious if you got the covid vaccine and if you feel that may have contributed to you getting the clot ( especially where you had no medical history ).. I’ve gotten the vaccine and I think it saved my life because I’ve got a significant heart problem history and I made it through covid unscathed , but I have heard that the vaccine can cause clots .
Thanks for the reply,.. I had a hear5 attack when I was 43 …. Not gonna mess around next time I head over to Thailand,.. will be grabbing some insurance @@welshboywebby
If you can't afford travel insurance then maybe you should not travel. Just purchased travel insurance for my next trip and it cost me and the wife 620 dollars AUD for a month as I have had heart surgery 45 years ago which was only about 135 dollars more expensive than some one that had no medical history but you have to have it. Note that if you have a accident when intoxicated they will not cover it.
I had a friend who died 6 years ago from lung cancer in a Thailand hospital. Because he owed money to the hospital they seized his passport so he couldn't leave for any treatment in the United States. The lesson here is carry medical insurance which is accepted in Thailand for major medical events or have enough money in a Thailand bank account so you can pay for any medical procedures necessary.
@@welshboywebby He couldn't go home because they seized his passport. He was being treated for lung cancer in the Thailand hospital and he was paying for it but then he ran out of money and he still had charges that he had to pay so he had no place to go.
Never give your passport to anyone other than police or immigration. the hospital can't do that, it's illegal, just make a payment plan and walk out, If they threaten to call cops laugh at them......
you needed oxygen to live, but yet you felt on top of the world🙄 I have a brother like that. He has type2 diabetes, but he thinks it's okay to eat cookies and drinking soft drinks several times a day.
As I said before Webby never let your insurance expire at all simple as that as the job I do i have had Private Health Cover all my life.Funny how people say they never get sick well in the end the joke is on them.People make there own way in life and when they want help they call us or its to late your own Health is in your Hands. Its simple in the end its your own fault like many you can learn from it at least you lived many do not.
Wow. So lucky! Were they not going to treat you because you didn’t have insurance? Why did they want you to go back to your country? Not sure I understand.
@@welshboywebby that’s what it sounded like. That is scary. Definitely don’t want to get any major illness there. Lucky you made it back home. Definitely wasn’t your time. Cheers to you mate.
Did they do an EKG on you. To be honest once they know you do not have insurance. They really cannot help you its the hospital policy. That's why they told you to go back home. Thailand is also like every country now dealing with the myriad of awful health side effects. Since the safe and effective roll out. The heal5h systems in many countries will collapse in the next few years from it. And I can absolutely guarantee you haven't seen nothing yet. With the high price of insurance coverage that is coming. Doctors still stay silent out of fear. But there are many who aren't. Dr Peter McCullough is one. Dr Suneel Dhand,Dr John Campbell, all very brave men speaking the truth.
Why don’t you want to stay in Britain and get sorted out? All kinds of women there why is Thailand so important to you? Good information in your videos
You won't get any cheap travel insurance now, you just need to have a credit card with 30k loaded strictly for medical emergencies, although Thailand is rip off with there medical charged compared to other Asia countries
So, you were misdiagnosed by two different hospitals, maybe you were lucky that you didn’t have insurance, they may have opened your chest up and then realised their mistake! If I were in your situation I would want to know what caused the bleed into your lungs and what the likelihood of it happening again is. Your harrowing story hasn’t convinced me to get insurance - I’m very glad that it all worked out for you.
You could of told that story in 2 mins , it did drone on a bit 😮 Most boring man at the party award prize goes to you 😅 Glad your OK though 😊 It's funny how we always buy it when something has happened, I like you used to travel with out it and keep my fingers crossed Do keep a few quid in the bank though just in case....
I'm the least boring guy you'll ever meet. You don't have to watch my channel mind. There is a button on the remote that can turn it off, yeah I'm much better thanks 😊 I'm going back without medical insurance, it's one big rip off

It's the vaccine not life style choice. He has myocarditis its killing millions especially the young. And rubber like blood clots the funeral homes and embalmed have been sounding the alarm. But the bought and paid for media stays quiet.
You plonker, your health is number 1 the most important thing in life money comes no where near to what it's worth. Next time you know now youve had your warning, look after your self .always insurance it comes at a cost but its worth it . This could of cost you millions of bart if you had stayed in hospital for a while in thailand, its not cheap.
@@welshboywebby I know it won't be cheap . You want to slow down on beers don't drink everyday because living in pattaya it's the easiest thing to do . Your living there ,you have to live like you do in england. Go out 2 times a week , you need to do something with your time more like your u tube. Instead of going out ever night.
It’s about time travel abroad has to be accompanied by the full appropriate insurance , compulsory like your passport . So many idiots out abroad with no insurance and then start ebegging for crowd funding to get home
@@welshboywebby good for you to , unfortunately plenty of the others do and it causes probs for those of us that have to visit due to family commitments with loaded up premiums bit like those who drive uninsured , ultimately someone has to pay . You’d be surprised at how many go who even think they are covered by insurance BUT don’t read the terms and conditions before ticking the boxes , undeclared visits to doctors prior to the policy being taken out or more commonly the 30 day max cover on the policy , yes you can get 60 day cover on some but very few and anything over 60 days you will need to go to a specialist broker of which there are very few of ,, Adrian Flux at Kings Lynn is one of them ,, also a lot of people either forget or choose to forget you need a special insurance policy cover on your home if your away for that length of time again most policies will cover 30 days away mine will cover 60 but again I had to go to a broker to get a special policy when we went for 6 months and these policies ain’t cheap and come with conditions like leaving a neighbour a key and they have to come in and do a check list every month. I also have pre conditions and believe it or not the best prices out there are on the bloody annoying advert Go Compare .com , I’ve just got an annual multi trip off there for £200 less than anywhere else , in fact it was exactly the same Tesco policy offered on other sites , so it’s well worth giving it a look .
Well you won’t be going to the Castle again!?! Lucky guy to make it through & you look a lot better now for it now back home with proper medical care. Glad u got home ok n good info abt travel insurance as u never know what will happen in life!?! 🤔😉🙏🏼👍🏻
Glad you ' re ok now, take it easy out there in Crazy Pattaya. In Pattaya, you can lose money for sure, and now we shall add health, and for some their sanity as well.

Haha.. small world.. and a close knit community. Glad you were on to if Webby lad 👍🏻🙏🏻
I have been thru something similar but luckily I was still in my home country. I collapsed, blacked out for a few mins, and then come out of it all gasping for air. Ambulance to the hospital with the medics pumping me full of Ventolin and oxygen trying to get my oxygen levels back up. Nothing was working :( I then spent 7 days in hospital in isolation on oxygen with a long list of tests and medications. Turned out being caused by a pre-existing case of Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and a massive hit on top of some form of Bird Flu. My Lung capacity now is only 33%. YES I do have medical insurance when I travel 100% essential. P.S. it is not going to stop me traveling tho. Enjoy whatever life you have left!!!
I have a better idea; Don't drink alcohol, drinking after maybe 20 years is a risky business, I know these alcoholics in Pattaya, they deny that they are alcoholics but nevertheless drink every day, so they are alcoholics. If this Welsh guy had taken care of his own health instead of drinking every day, this would not have happened. Go for a check-up every 6 months, do not eat junk food, do not drink alcohol, work out 30 minutes a day at least, and of course, take care of a health insurance policy.
Well done Webby, glad you're fixed anyway, one of the most genuine people on TH-cam here. Just a blip mate this was, want to see you back on the lash and living it up again soon 🍻👍

I watched this moments after looking up travel insurance for my upcoming trip out there pal. So that was my first sign. You and your sister are a world wise pair I tell you! I’m in Jontiem as of 10 November after a week or so in BKK so I’ll be keeping my eyes out for you in and around Pattaya pal. Hope to have a beer with you at some point. Stay safe and keep up the good work fella! Liam 🙏🏻👍🏻👊🏻
Thanks for going into detail about what happened Webby! Do you think you would have had more or better treatment in Thailand if you had insurance? Did anyone tell you there were more tests they could have run but didn't because of payment?
That's all they did in the UK was check my bloods, they took blood in Thailand, why they didn't pick it up I'll never know, I was paying myself in Thailand not once did they say anything just said go back to your country
In the UK you can put in a claim for vaccine damage. The pay out now is 115,000 pounds. The Govt knows what is about to happen, and is trying right now to get the compensation award lowered to 35,000 pounds. Document everything. If you have your vaccination card,it will give you your vaccine batch number. You can go to how safe is my vaccine or batch and see the statistics of injuries.

It is mate, they just don't want to pay
You now have a pre existing condition. And heart problems and clotting it will be near impossible or very expensive to get travel insurance, from now on. You will most likely be prescribed Eliquis thats what they prescribe here in the USA. It is very expensive. They cause the problem and make you dependent on there pills to live.
My heart is ok, well I think so anyway, they are checking it next month
I can guarantee you the insurance companies know what's going on with the vaccine injured. And will protect themselves accordingly by denying coverage.
Wat causes the problem
@@Fazak38I can see them asking if you took the jab upon application, and charging more if you did.
I use pharmacies, next is the government hospital and finally for serious cases I will use my health and accident insurance in a private hospital. If I end up paying tax as a tax resident I will be showing my tax ID number at a government in the off chance. Tax is for government services not a money grab.
Thanks for sharing
Good info on this video about what happens if you don't have insurance. I am headed to Thailand end of September to middle of October. Heading south to Krabi. Btw if you did have insurance do you still have to pay at the hospital for the treatment and then claim the money back yourself or does the hospital go to the insurance company for payment (if you show them your insurance docs) ?
I honestly don't know what I do know is they wanted money before given any treatment 😕
It's the price, it's crazy money.
Lucky Will was around to look after you mate - I think you owe him a few mango shakes 😮
I owe him my life
I don't understand why they didn't diagnose and deal with the issue in Thailand.
God knows
Because they knew he would be out of pocket by 10s of thousands of pounds. So were trying to get him home.
Damn, man, I remember joking that you survived the castle because you didn't post a video for a long time...
I didn't know the castle was that bad (joke)
But I am glad you are back on your feet now (this 5 months after video was posted)

Glad you’re okay! Did you since find out what caused the clot in the lungs? Are you a smoker?
It's in the family
The 2021 safe a d effective caused it.

I wonder how long its going to be until insurance companies ask for your 2021 safe & effective jab status upon application? And how much extra its going to cost to be covered?

Caerphilly cheese
Travel insurance probably wouldn't have helped in this instance as even annual policies have a fixed number of days from 30, 60 or 90. What you need is a Thai health insurance policy
That's what I'm on about, I live there, so travel insurance is pointless, I'm trying to get proper medical cover, but it's crazy what they are asking for me now and I'm only 51
“Trying to be clever” but never ever going to succeed 555 555 🙏🏻

IF you cannot get insurance or its coverage is severely restricted then only choice is to self-insure and for Thailand this now requires substantial financial reserves put aside -minimum B5 million imho
I know mate 👍 I am going to try and get insurance this year
Glad you are ok 😊
I am!
I had the vaccine a while back
Thanks for the reply,.. I had a hear5 attack when I was 43 …. Not gonna mess around next time I head over to Thailand,.. will be grabbing some insurance @@welshboywebby
This was something they could easily have treated in bumrungrad
Well, 2 hospitals said it was a heart attack and told me to get home to the UK
sorry-might have missed abit as a new sub but was there and primary cause for the clot?
They ain't got a clue what caused it, it was a nightmare, I'm just glad I'm OK again, thank for being a sub to my channel
Yeah I do know that
You are lucky man. Horror story. Take care 👌
Thanks, you too!
Why not just go home
@@welshboywebby He couldn't go home because they seized his passport. He was being treated for lung cancer in the Thailand hospital and he was paying for it but then he ran out of money and he still had charges that he had to pay so he had no place to go.
Never give your passport to anyone other than police or immigration. the hospital can't do that, it's illegal, just make a payment plan and walk out, If they threaten to call cops laugh at them......

Good video i think people dont get insurance coz they thing its a big scam. It can be a minefield but better than nothing.

Bet you’re a good laugh 🥴
