Great talks TEDx, but maybe coordinate your cameras and Directors with the show notes of the speakers, for major effects. He was probably showing something an interesting note on the screen and the public laughed, but we didn't, cause we couldn't see the video wall. Really, coordination and planning. It's simple
@@boogii10092005 So? it's all edited in post. You just pick a camera that shows the slide, when the presenter changes the slide. They should also have a direct feed from the presentation itself, so either way there's no excuse.
+Adrian Poli Push multiculturalism at the expense of Scandinavian tradition? I think you're trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill. The original source material is unchanged, don't be such a drama queen.
Him talking about Rousseau actually made me remember when I learned about Rousseau in kindergarden. They showed the same painting and basically explained part of the reason this painting is historically relevant is because it's so arguably about having fun. That lesson was great.

I have no words to convey how much I adore this man and how much he inspire me in everyway. I hope he keeps creating and keeps inspiring people. Mr. Taika Waititi I raise my glass to you. Thank you for being here
its always a relief hearing from other creatives that didnt choose like the ONE thing to output ideas. Since im clearly all over the place from writing to painting or video creating
Inspiration comes from an appreciation and understanding of art. Creativity comes from an internal uncontrollable need to create. You can’t necessarily “be” more creative but you can think more creatively. Just watch movies, shows, animes, animations, and short films. Look at comics, paintings drawings, and sculptures. Listen to music. Go on walks, watch people, listen to people.. really actually listen to people. Just observe the world that’s been there the whole time, you’ve just forgotten about it because you were too busy thinking about your own life. The world is an incredibly rich and beautiful place. You just gotta look at it... really actually just look at it. And the appreciation and everything else comes easily.
This talk makes me feel so much better about the way my brain works. I've been trying to, you know, make it more ~normal~, but this feels very in line with how my thought processes work.
Coming here after watching Thor: Ragnarok. I had already seen Hunt for the Wilder People beforehand, and after listening to this TED talk, I really like Waititi's perspective on the creative process. Great director!
That was an incredibly well-constructed mess. It feels like he has not written a word of it and just turned up and winged it but I bet he rehearsed every word for weeks. That is a true skill to perform like that.
Just watched his new film What We Do in the Shadows. He has co-directed and co-written it and also plays one of the leads and it is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. I think the guy is incredible. From watching this talk however it is clear he suffers from a compulsive disorder or did as a child. I'm sure he must know this, but I wonder why he did not mention it specifically, just all the symptoms.
Robert J. Williamson Whoa, agreed. He definitely has obsessive compulsive disorder. I have it too and when he mentioned thinking about cancer and having those rituals, it was all too familiar. I have it as well and construct these ridiculous meaningless rituals to stave off things that can't be controlled (to a degree). Interesting guy though.
TheMartine haha I rented it and watched it 2 times. I miss it! Might rent it again. Its really great film. They should release an extended version with another 2 hours.

I can listen to Taika for days. This talk is one of the best I've heard and, from all the talks I've seen, it's the one I've learned from the most. It's funny, because he didn't take it that seriously and yet he expressed an idea better than most Ted talkers I've seen. He spoke honestly, I guess that's where the difference lies.
Totally agree with the bit on failure. It was always characterised by too many people I came across as something to fear and avoid, especially during my early school years. Sadly, I only realised much later in my life that it is definitely something to embraced as a means to improve myself.

...and now it's JoJo raBbit time and we are waiting for it ... and are laughing whenever we grasp a spark of a spark in the dusty dark it's light you share with us - thank you Taika ✨🧚♂️✨
Is Taika Waititi the new Zealand Richard Ayoade, or is Richard Ayoade the British Taika Waititi? The world may never know, but one things certain. If those two ever meet there will be an explosion of awkwardly hilarious brilliance the world has never known.
Boom Shakalaka let this collab happen!
I shall now spend the rest of the evening trying to find the familial link between these two awesome individuals.
Maybe Richard is the British Richard Ayoade and Taika is the New Zealand Taika?
This comment made me stop breathing for like a full 4 seconds
Wow I love both of them so much i wish they would collab sometime, I think they would create a masterpiece
One of the greatest human beings to ever exist.
oh my god who is switching these goddamn cameras. we need context dude!
hey i'm subbed to u
TheDankHaloRing yay!
Right?! Who ever is running the production on this was terrible. haha
just hanging on shots of people laughing at a visual gag on the screen, awesome....
More like consistency is key. But I agree nonetheless. Lol. how unfair that I just got recommended this vid. Ugh. -.-
coming back after our flag means death and OH MY GOD
Gosh he's wonderful in so many ways
Taika Waititi is such a mood. Omg. Love his TEDx Talk. Love it. AAAAAA. So chaotic and so beautiful and so true and so relatable at the same time.
agree!
Great talks TEDx, but maybe coordinate your cameras and Directors with the show notes of the speakers, for major effects. He was probably showing something an interesting note on the screen and the public laughed, but we didn't, cause we couldn't see the video wall. Really, coordination and planning. It's simple
Agreed. I was frustrated when the whole audience burst out laughing and I couldn't see the slide.. derp!
he has the remote in his hands. he's controlling the slides lol look closer, all the ted talkers do that
@@boogii10092005 So? it's all edited in post. You just pick a camera that shows the slide, when the presenter changes the slide. They should also have a direct feed from the presentation itself, so either way there's no excuse.
I really enjoy "There you are" as a greeting.
Who knew he’d be a *very* famous director almost a decade after this video?
this NZ dryness had me pissing myself laughing
Gotta watch Thor Ragnarok, he absolutely steals the show. Everyone in the cinema was laughing just from hearing his accent alone.
Confirmed for never even stepped foot in New Zealand. Its wet as all get out there.
@dan smith Ummmm... no it's not LOL
Same.
If you like his sense of humour, watch Hunt for the Wilderpeople and What we do in the Shadows! NOW! GO!
I instantly fell in love with Taikis works starting with Eagle Vs Shark. I'm so happy he's starting to get more recognition.
he's like the Maori Tony stark
IKR
I though the same!!! LOL
Well he's directing the next Thor now.
I think he's maori bruce banner
+Adrian Poli Push multiculturalism at the expense of Scandinavian tradition? I think you're trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill. It's one movie, from a comic that's loosely based on Norse mythology. I think anyone with half a brain can make the distinction between traditional Norse mythology and the Marvel version.
Melissa Frank wow, you learned Rousseau when you were in Kindergarten!? Best Kindie ever!
hes come soooooo far now, just box officed 150 mill and made such an awesome marvel movie. I saw him years ago and some of his short movies and also what we do in the shadows which was such a great watch. Respect sir Respect
How did this man repeatedly said he has no idea what he is talking about, and yet I surprisingly found this talk enormously informative?!
Anyone else on a Taika Waititi marathon? 😁
Waititi binge :D
me!
Wankathon*
try following his instagram.. it's GOLD!!!
KingKhanAbz yes omg since this morning!😂
What a great guy. He's got a lot of heart.
I fr could listen to this man ramble on for like forever
From then to What we do in the shadows, Hunt for the wilderpeople and Thor ragnarok now. Taika has grown so much. Still humble. Such a nice and talented human being.
He’s so genuine and funny! I love taika waititi. Watched jojo rabbit with my kids. They laughed hard and cried hard and then watched it again the next day. It was amazing
Since im clearly all over the place from writing to painting or video creating
this guy directing a Marvel movie is such great news!
all I can say is, he did NOT disappoint.
good to know he's directing Thor 4 too
How am I just seeing this?? LOVE him!!!
Taika Waititi is absolutely my favorite director and comedian these days! What we do in the shadows is legendary!
He has come so far in the last 12 years
I love him as Viago from What We Do In the Shadows😍😍
Man I could listen to this guy talk all day
Inspiration comes from an appreciation and understanding of art.
I have no idea what I was supposed to get from this but nevertheless I enjoyed this so fucking much. This guy is the best!
The entire point of this TEDx talk was wrapped up in the last 15 seconds - this is why he's so genius. We are important because we are here.
Agreed, I love Taika. I think he's genius. Also, What We Do in the Shadows... let's just say I've seen it four times :b
Robert J. Williamson Yeah he mentioned some Obsessive Compulsive symptoms.
***** - Yes, he seems at ease with it, I just noticed all the symptoms and wondered if he even knows these were part of OCD.
What a frigging gift this guy is.
Taika actually means PEACE in Lithuanian. I wonder if he knows it, but that's really nice name. :)
Lina Kazlauskaite Taika in maori means tiger, so im guessing hes named after his father
Lina Kazlauskaite It's such a beautiful name. I love the way it sounds. Gorgeous meaning in Lithuanian :)
Taika also means magic in Finnish (:
This is the first time i've seen this guys talk and he really radiates fun and free spirited creativity, so inspirational!
Omg ,my name is Salman it means peace in Arabic , I have exactly the same style as him same hair same clothing ...😵We might be twins 😂
also taika in maori = tank
Cool to hear someone so accurately describe and portray OCD
My own OCD was triggered watching this and then I read your comment and it clicked why 😂
I don’t think you understand I’m in love with this man
I REALLY LOVED THIS. NEWSFLASH-NO ONE CAN TEACH YOU ART-START WITH A SEA OF SELF DEVELOPMENT, AND DONT TRY TO MAKE IT ALL MAKE PERFECT LOGIC!!!!!!!
Taiko and Jeff Goldblum interviewing for Thor was hilarious. Those two were gold together, so weird
Congratulations to him for his FIRST oscar win !!
He's one of my favorite NZ's, so proud to hail from the same land as this legend!
He seems like a lovely, very talented young man. I hope he achieves great success in life
If you love what you do, no one can take that away from you.
Totally agree with the bit on failure. It was always characterised by too many people I came across as something to fear and avoid, especially during my early school years. Sadly, I only realised much later in my life that it is definitely something to embraced as a means to improve myself.
I LOVE HIM SO MUCH OMG "you're wasting my time by clapping" i was dying the whole time aha
Summary: Taika has absolutely no idea what he's doing, but he's doing an InCrediBLe job at it, making millions, and winning Oscars.
Can we talk about how Taika invented the smart watch before it was ever popular
