- Michael Stevens the persona behind the TH-cam sensation Vsauce, is an online personality with an entertaining approach to explaining the science behind seemingly ordinary, everyday phenomena. Michael's videos have been watched over 400 million times and Vsauce's 4.5 million subscribers continues to add an astonishing 15 thousand subscribers each day. Michael lives in London where he works for Google as an in-house consultant for other creators on the platform.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Marshall Merritt It is from old sci-fi book. :)
dont worry bout it
People don’t hate learning, in fact your brain loves learning, it’s just school is a place that kills the love to learn, the teachers and the curriculum are/is can be very boring and or frustrating.
There need to be more people like the people at Vsause that teach the next generation.
True
Depends. I quite frequently find school as interesting depending on the subject. Maybe it's because I've met interesting teachers or because I grew up being inquisitive but some topics discussed in school actually piques my interest.
People asked what my favorite subject was each year of highschool. It depended on the teacher teaching it. My sophomore year I had a great teacher. Entertaining, understandable, reasonable, kind and respectful. Just a down to earth lady. Then the next year my least favorite subject was math because the teacher was stubborn, boring and didn’t really care about her students
Currently facing a school degree. This is absolute anxiety

How does this guy remember all this information. He’s so damn comfortable it’s insane
@vjacobwong because in his surname - v"SAUCE" you see? he likes sauce
Good preparation
Because he understands it, when you understand it you don't need a script to remember, the script is your brain.
Some speaking stage have another screen in front of the speaker that audience can't see. And usually the camera doesn't show it either
@@Hilman_Faizthis video shows those screens multiple times but he doesn't have a script up. Just a timer telling him how much time he has left and another to show what he has on the screen behind him.
I’m so happy he said, “And as always, thanks for watching.”
I hate studying,
studying is boring
I love learning,
learning is beautiful
Too true
How can you learn in the Long run without studying?
By going to school. I have all A's and always get 95 or above in tests without studying. And I can remember everything I've been taught, or almost everything.
+Jerry Xue If you are the average citizen, then the majority of the topics you learn in school will be forgotten; cast aside and left unused, as they are not required in your day to day activities. Consequently, mulling over that chart of words or that history textbook with the sole purpose of passing the test and then forgetting the information is what I consider studying. Learning however, is a completely different subject. Learning is discovering things you thought were impossible, actually enjoying the information you are receiving. Just like Michael said, I believe that despite what topic you hate the most, if you learn more about it, you will find things about it you enjoy, while simultaneously gathering information about the topic.
When you relate information gained to something you already know, that is when you have truly learned it.
That moment when you realize that Vsauce is the most intelligent clickbaiter in youtube.
Haha me too but I still love his videos :D
Luis Lopez Not really clickbaiter. He actually talks about the stuff in the thumbnail.
+Walnut it's an oxymoron. The title is as like any other click bait titles, that makes you interested. But he actually talks about what it says in the title. It's so smart. Good point Luis Lopez
globalfreaking So his titles are exactly what a title of a video should be. It makes the video interesting and he talks about this topic in his video. 👌
globalfreaking Do you even know what clickbait is? A title that has nothing to do with the video to call your attention, really just search on Wikipedia what it is. I agree the title is interesting but he talks about the stuff in the video so it's not considered clickbait.
He spent 17 minutes about "Why we asks questions" only to answer it with because it's fun.

I know its late, but that last hand raise and his signature "And as always, thanks for watching" and the cheer that followed him gave me goosebumps. He is simply so great.
Really wanted him to start his speech with "hey, Ted talks Michael here."
If Michael was a teacher I would've loved school
Brandon Barhydt no you wouldn't have. The thing about VSauce is that Michael has freedom in what he discusses. If he was a teacher he would have to follow the curriculum which means he would go over the exact same things you already go through so you'd have the same feelings towards school.
+Fserke teachers teach the same curriculum differently. Michael has freedom over how exactly he would get the lessons across to the student.
It's not about the result, it's about the fact that they have to stick with the subject they are teaching. Michael teaches all sorts of things.
but he has freedom in how he teaches it, how he relates it to the students, and what analogies to make, did you watch the video? one of his major points was about making the subject appeal to the viewer. "the trick to education is to teach in such a way that people only find out they're learning when its too late." Micheal should be the head of the US department of education.

The crowds are usually pretty responsive; if not, then they're not completely dead.

I swear, Michael's train of thought is like a Wikipedia binge trapped inside a human brain. The guy goes on such fascinating tangents that always veer off course but never feel like they're even slightly random. There's always a connecting thread, a path that his discussion follows, that holds everything together. It's kind of beautiful in its own way.
He's a polymath I think. He also is clearly gifted in abstract and paradoxical thinking. People who are gifted in abstract and paradoxical thinking have high levels of what you might call super imagination. Ability to blend existing concepts and objects into something new, this can also be useful for problem solving. Like taking an object and connecting it to a unrelated idea based on a train of thought, just based on details of the object.Creating a new idea. They're not looking at the object, but what makes the object up and how it exists within space and time, how it will exist in the past and future. How it relates to seemingly unrelated objects and the bigger picture. what it's like on the smallest of details. Those details will take you to a new insight almost completely void of relationship to the starting point. what is inside the object and how it could be interacting with invisible forces. ect. Think of micheal Feraday or even Einstein. Research suggests people with these abilities have more connections between both sides of their right and left brain, but also a higher volume of grey matter. Not sure about his IQ, maybe 118 ? IQs aren't all that important imo. I was visited by a man who seeks out gifted children when I was a wee spriggin and he said I was gifted in abstract and paradoxical thinking. I'm not saying this to brag or anything. I do exactly what micheal does in the video. so I know he's at least semi gifted at this thought process. People who think like this make great scientists or writers, or science educators ;) .So you could say Micheal was destined for what he does.
One of my life goals is to meet this person in my life at least once
He made explanations into an art form...
