@@dopestm3rk my problem is that facial animations seem inconsistent thru out the experience. Alot of the supporting cast is done very well. Like for example the sheriff when u meet him at the end and he gives u that page. That scene was well done. Some other charecters didn't impress as much. Even saga at times didn't convince but oh well. Impressive nonetheless
Eh. It's even footing actually. It's a 50/50 in reality. They are the only two that hit a 10/10 for innovation. Also, do NOT underestimate the power of Initiation 4. I'm telling ya. That chapter is the sole reason it's on equal footing. That single level blows the socks off of every other game this year.
Baldur’s Gate winning over Alan Wake II goes to show how large the general gaming audience has grown. It’s mainstream now more than ever. if dev effort/originality was compared, we know which wins.
I am really on the fence with this game considering i didn't enjoy Alan Wake 1 and although Control had cool combat the story was very confusing + enemy variety was extremely poor. With Alan Wake 2 you have great visuals, great characters, it seems to have a great story that tie in with Control as well, but gameplay.............. is there anything more than flashing your light and shooting your enemy? Also from the little i've seen the maps are very linear as well.
My GOTY is Dead Space remake, but Alan Wake 2 is the runner up. Beat it in 26 hours and was ready for it to be over around the 20 hour mark. Small nit picks for me were the case boards, excessive amount of puzzles and the dark place enemies just didn't do it for me. I heard "I'm drowning and Alan Wake" to much. Once you identify which was are going to attack or mess with you, the tension starts to drop off. Again, small nit picks but i thought everything else was Remedy at their peak and I'm glad they had success with this franchise. Game hits even better if you've played through all of Remedy's work.
@@dopestm3rk oh man if it's your first playthrough you're in for such a treat! I've been playing the OG Dead Space annually since it's release and it holds up so well.
@@mitchjames9350 With so man games coming out this past fall I just wasnt able to get to the Remaster. Control was a game that I LOVED back in 2019 and felt like I was the only one talking about it.
A good game overall but not without major issues. To call it a "masterpiece" is ridiculous but the proof will be in the pudding. The longevity of the game. We'll take a look at the coverage and player base in six months.
That statement seems a little weird because its a single player game and numbers are bound to drop off in the case of launch vs post launch. Yes they have a new game + mode and 2 DLC's coming so if the quality of the base game is any indication I think it'll be just fine.
@@dopestm3rkyeah, looking at the player base of a single player game months after it's released is beyond pointless. I imagine the community around it will be pretty healthy though, given the level of theory crafting we're already seeing.
Honestly this game does not hold up after playing the previous one and i damnear 100% AW2. The story and gameplay just aren't there. after playing Control it is clear that remedy wanted another Oldest House vibe but couldn't seem to get the story or its characters right. the only part of this game i actually enjoyed was Wake's because it kind of simulates the first . Unfortunately when switching back to saga it was very clear how bland/ basic she was. it gets a 4/10 for me and probably would get a better rating if the gameplay didn't feel like a RE2 Remake rip off. in Control the story and writing didnt matter (it wasnt that good) but its world and playing the game was immensely entertaining, i cannot say the same for Alan Wake 2. i just hope they do better with the DLC
Hold on, I'll go get a blank cardboard cut out for you to put up in front of the screen so you can pretend you're playing as Fayden. Honestly, there was a lot to praise about control, but the character writing was not among them. Fayden was a soulless reflection of whatever the plot demanded (usually staring vacantly at whoever was speakingright up until she suddenly knew everything about everything because she had to.)

They really took in all the negative feedback about the animations in Alan Wake 1
I love Alan Wake 2 so much so happy it got nominated for game of the Year I personally voted for it to win game of the year so
Same actually, honestly I have no doubt that bg3 will win goty but I'm rooting so hard for aw2

I’d love to see Remedy win GOTY, easily my favorite game they have made.
This is a masterpiece of a game. Absolutely love it.
Since I don't own a switch to play Zelda this is the GOTY for me
I’m going back and forth between AW2, Spider-Man 2 and Starfield. Don’t have a switch myself and haven’t checked out Baldurs Gate 3 yet.
Wait for a switch 2 if you want to play Zelda. The current switch can hardly run the game.
I’ve played both and zelda isn’t game of the year, baulders gate 3 will win but Alan wake 2 is my goty
