Can't help but think that this interview would have been a breath of fresh air for Sam Lake. Not just generic questions from someone feeding the hype, Ash is genuinely excited for Alan Wake 2 and about Remedy's games in general, makes for some interesting questions/conversation points. Just two intellectuals talking horror, love to see it. Nice work Ash, really looking forward to the coverage to come 😈
Sam Lake is one of those creators, who similarly to Ed Boon, Hideo Kojima and Shigeru Miyamoto continues to rise the bar for the industry without losing the charm and talent. There have been so many charismatic developers who just lost the plot, but not them. Always happy to see Sam, ever since original Max Payne.
09:05 Ash: "Ashtray Maze moment maybe, mayyybe?" Sam Lake: "It is hard to top that though" 🥰 Translates into Gamers: "No way Remedy will be able to top Ashtray Maze" Sam Lake: "Hold my rubber duck"
Man is it always nice to hear people in the industry talk who are in for the love of the craft. It's always a nice reminder that there's also other guys around who don't only care about pleasing shareholders. Sam Lake's been in this so long and he still has an creators ambition. Hat's off to you sir. Also very good interview Ash, thank you very much.^^
To be fair, I am not found of survival horrors, but I loved Max Payne, Quantum Break and Control, so I bought the game because I trusted the studio, wanted to reward their work and so get more games from them, and so far I've played 4 hours and I LOVE it !
im happy that he was able to write the story in a way that you could play almost wholey as alans campain. he made sure that those who played alan wake (original) dont feel abandoned by fully being forced into the the shoes of another character... sagas campain sounds like a wonderful expansion of alan wakes journey and it having player choice on playing it makes me less bitter.... so excited for this game. and exploring both campains
So far Remedy Entertainment have consistently created games with the best narrative, story, gameplay and graphics. Loved every moment of their games. I haven't played Quantum Break yet, because its exclusive.
Ashtray Maze was indeed hard to top. But man, giving both Alan and Saga their big musical moments is just too good. And both songs are absolute BANGERS!
I want more interviews like this. Ones where Sam is allowed to kind of talk on and on because this man has such a way with words when it comes to his work. The interviewer did a fantastic job. I could listen to this man talk for hours about what he does and why he does it.
This game looks and sounds terrific - gonna be playing Alan Wake remastered for the first time to get prepared for some Remedy goodness after Control was such a great experience! Ash was also perfect for this interview - professionally behaved but her passion for horror and Alan Wake in particular still came through. Sam Lake seems like a cool, chill dude!
Brilliant interview Ash, really insightful and some great little tidbits of new info there! I'm very much looking forward to AW2, Control is a tough act to follow but Remedy are masters of their craft and it certainly looks like their ambition and vision for the game is being realised.
@@leonjan326 he's my favorite game director tbh and a huge inspiration... DS3, Bloodborne, Sekiro and Elden Ring are at the very top of my favorite games ever
That was nice. Been waiting for this one, a long time 😊 I'm also so happy, that Poets are in the game. What a band... Now, when did that coffee thermos became available... 😝
Really need to try _Alan Wake_ now. I quite enjoyed this interview, and Mr. Lake's responses play into my preferred writing style for horror. (Also loved _Max Payne_ and _Control_ beyond words...)
Dude if Remedy ever lose Sam Lake, all hope would be lost. Remedy is such an underrated developer not talked about enough. I hope Alan Wake 2 puts Remedy back on the map 10 fold!
Please say we get a Alex Casey DLC. Been having fun playing the Sam Lake Mod for MP3 and i always thought he looked cool in MP1 and should have carried the look across.
I csnt wait to peel back the layers of dualism in the game, especially with Sam and McCaffery becoming one once more As a fan since Max Payne when I was far too young to be playing it, this is the game I've always wanted from remedy
No lie I tried this when it came to PlayStation but didn't like it cause of clunky movements but then later that year tried it again and loved the story atmosphere Solid 8.0 I'm looking forward to this one. But Remedy hopefully you guys make a new Control 2 please but with a Male protagonist in it as well.
I hope it’s actually a horror game not just an action game pretending to be a horror game like resident evil. There’s no reason to be scared of resident evil because you can just shoot everything that’s scary. And there are rarely situations where you feel helpless.
I wish I could understand the thinking behind making the monsters shadow figures, which is scary but then as soon as you shoot them they turn into working class white men. Is that something from the first game or was it brought in for "modern audience"?
The shadowy monsters are people that have been effected by the Dark Place and turned into puppets. They also do this with two old women. Was this rage bait, or did you actually just not play AW1?

2023 is a great year for us survival horror fans. I can't wait to play this! Hopefully we get cameos from Control. So far we have the Janitor :)
I have been playing the game for 4hours, at this point, these are not cameos anymore, control is a part of this game
I love Remedy! You definitely feel the dedication and love they put into the games they make. Can’t wait for AW2!!
That's a great interview Ash and what a cool guy Sam Lake is.👍
That’s not Sam Lake. That is and will always be Max Payne!
He did leave the interview with a slow motion dive...
@@PlayStationAccess😂

He’s both, respect the name, all of em.
Bro He's like 53 and he looks the SAME as when he was Max ! What tf ! crazy ! lmao
Always a pleasure listening to Sam discuss his enthusiasm for this game. I can't wait for Alan Wake 2! Job well done on this interview Ash.

It's not, you can play it on PC and XBox
I want a Sam Lake written Netflix series adaptation of both Alan Wake and CONTROL.
AMC is making a Alan wake tv Series

Sam Lake, Swen Vincke and Hideo Kojima are true visionaries of our time ❤
Kojima, that reminds me. We didn’t hear anything about the Konami remakes out of TGS this year
@@jasonsmith530 unfortunately:(
Hidetaka Miyazaki...

Sam Lake is proof the games industry is in great hands. Games like Alan Wake 2 are the reason I became a gamer 20 years ago
The last 13 years of waiting feel like months and the last months feel like 13 years
As someone who doesn’t care for RPG’s or fantasy games this is probably gonna my second most anticipated game of the year! Can’t wait to play this
What’s first?
Most games nowadays are Rpg's and fantasy.
@@danilthorstensson8902 it was RE4 remake that’s my GOTY but I’m also not big on rpgs like I said
oh wow you guys met with the great Sam Lake! Awesome interview Ash
Sam lake is truly underrated celebrity he deserves more he has written such masterpieces and still only a few know him
Remedy always hits, I can't wait.
Old Gods of Asgard is my favorite fictional band
Poets of the Fall is a great band as well......strongly recommend
Great interview Ash!!! I have no doubt Alan Wake 2 is gonna be great. Cant wait to play it
I'm glad Max Payne finally found peace in the world and is making some good horror games.
Always be our Max Payne!

Such a great game also the stories good can’t wait for Alan Wake 2 to come out soon
Good interview! Solid. Game is on some other level with live action. Got well explained.
He really does seem like he has fully embraced the Max Payne thing and isn't a dick about it. Seems like a lovely guy.
Sam Lake what a guy!
Can’t wait. Super hyped for this ! Just hope we get a clear cut ending that isn’t left open for interpretation
lol Remedy is heavily influenced by Lynch so don’t hope for that 😂

The Finnish beer advert…😂
Sam, Cory and Josef are my fav people in the gaming world.
Just got the physical deluxe edition 🔥
It would be super cool to have an Alex Casey game cause it has Max Payne written all over it

Holy moly it's Max Payne himself
Game of the year
Sam is soooo cool!!!
Cannot wait for AW2
Great interview! ❤
So by the name of the video I guess Sam Lake is huge fan of A24 films.
Instructions unclear; instead had nostalgic memories of my childhood playing Max Payne
Please say we get a Alex Casey DLC. Been having fun playing the Sam Lake Mod for MP3 and i always thought he looked cool in MP1 and should have carried the look across.
Its not a lake, its an ocean.
I am sad that i couldn’t get a ticket to see him at dice in Iceland
I honestly cant wait to play max Payne 1 and 2 remakes and now alan wake 2 is finished they can focus on payne to the max !!!!
Focus on Control 2 and two multi projects. Max Payne remake is the last project of Remedy
That's not Sam Lake...... that's Sam Ocean (not my original comment)
Hmm 🤔 06:17 John Wick? 😳
Let’s hope for control 2 after this………😊
They already announced control 2
The Max Payne remakes are after this😊
Wish I didn't have to hope and wait for a physical version. Otherwise it's gonna be wait for big sale.
Looks great though.
I do love a24 films

I can’t be the only one that thinks Alan Wake looks like Aaron Rodgers right?
Not really

Control with male protagonist?: thats just quantum break.
the best game ever!!!!!!
I'm hyped
I LOVED EVERY INFLUENCE THAT INSPIRED ALAN WAKE 2
Alan Wake 2 should have been called John Wick vs Max Payne
I mean look at Alan Wake he looks just like John Wick
Don't you agree.
I hope it’s actually a horror game not just an action game pretending to be a horror game like resident evil. There’s no reason to be scared of resident evil because you can just shoot everything that’s scary. And there are rarely situations where you feel helpless.
We need max payne remake!! it crashes running on modern pc
You can tell sam lake is trying so hard not to tell about herald of darkness
вау, круто
this guy looks like MAX PAYNE
Prediction: towards the end of the game, DCI Saga Anderson will find/receive Jesse Faden's service weapon! You saw here first!
No
I wish I could understand the thinking behind making the monsters shadow figures, which is scary but then as soon as you shoot them they turn into working class white men. Is that something from the first game or was it brought in for "modern audience"?
I think you're projecting a bit here. Same as the first game.
Nowadays, according to many people, working class white men are actually scarier than shadow figures.
Everything okay at home, buddy?
How......how do you live with these weird thoughts?
The shadowy monsters are people that have been effected by the Dark Place and turned into puppets. They also do this with two old women. Was this rage bait, or did you actually just not play AW1?
Did a24 help with this game ?
Sam lake makes me want to listen to The Hives
