@@ImJustLayZ The Max Payne games, at least Max Payne 1 & 2 were originally created by Remedy and i think published by Rockstar. Max Payne 3 i think was then made without Remedy.
@@ImJustLayZ Remedy's games to date are Death Rally (which I don't think is part of anything, but we'll see), Max Payne 1 and 2, Alan Wake, Alan Wake: American Nightmare, Quantum Break, Control and Alan Wake 2 (plus some online action game for the money, but that's definitely not part of anything else). Rockstar published Max Payne 1, then bought the full IP and franchise rights from Remedy and commissioned them to make Max Payne 2 (Rockstar later made Max Payne 3 solo, with Remedy only consulting). Alan Wake and Quantum Break were both published by Microsoft. With Alan Wake there was some contract reversal clause so after a few years the rights reverted fully to Remedy, allowing them to make Alan Wake 2. Control and Alan Wake 2 were published by other companies but Remedy got a much better deal so they retain full control of the IP and franchise rights, so they can do what they like with them, merge them, make references and sequels etc. Because they don't own the rights to Max Payne and Quantum Break, they have to make circumspect references to them (i.e. Alex Casey instead of Max Payne, Warlin Door instead of Martin Hatch etc). I think they said a few years ago that the rights to Quantum Break might also revert to them at some point in the future as well, but not Max Payne. Rockstar own that forever, unless Remedy can raise the money to buy the IP back. But Rockstar and Remedy are now working together on full remakes of Max Payne 1 and 2 in Remedy's own engine.
I think people at MS would be happy to help Remedy with QB and the Remedy Universe. Would be the ultimate yerk play if they deny Remedy using QB, imo. I'm not sure about Rockstar, but since they didn't use Max and now is Remedy the studio that is bringing him back I can imagine they being open about incluiding Max to this universe.

As a huge Max Payne 1 and 2 fan I'm loving this! I want a new Max Payne, a proper sequel to 2 from Remedy after they are done with the remake!
Remedy will always remain that group of devs that ALWAYS can do something, that other groups with bigger budgets CANT do.
I was playing Alan Wake 2 at my friend's place less than 2 hours ago and he was complaining about being lost in the game, not knowing where to go. He almost gave up about trying to figure the way out so he allowed me to play instead. I was like "don't worry, I trust Remedy, they know what they are doing"
My words convinced him to keep trying. He had such bad experiences with the horrible game releases in the last two years, he thought Alan Wake 2 was one of them lol
Signature: True Max Payne fan.
RIP James McCaffrey 🙏
I barely find out he passed away. My childhood Max Payne 2001 I will forever miss the voice actor James McCaffrey. 😢
now lets see if Alan Wake 3 will be in Brazil
😂😂😂
And if Alan Wake shaves his head, he already has the beard.
Hahaha oh you
No lol
Eu quero ver isso.
Abraços, amigo!🇧🇷
rest in peace James McCaffrey... you will be missed !
Max Payne is a fucking legend, no man can stop him when he’s got a gun in his hand. Not after everything he went through, rip James M.
Its clear the voice actor has become older and more grizzled in his voice
I think its even better
he still sounds badass
I miss his younger voice tbh
You can see him having trouble to uphold the "Max sound" at certain spots, but somehow it still works in his favor. Like all Max's drinking messed him up even more.
Man's still got it and it's great to hear our old friend again, esp. with good, spiteful writing. Jackhammer & cement your name into the history for good, James.
Also, I'd guess they'd leave his original voicelines in remasters \ remakes.
@@JonPL yea I just felt his delivery in the anniversary special video they uplaoded was a bit better.
Makes me more sad that he's gone. Rest in peace, James McCaffrey 😢
they can still improve his model between now and the release of the remake, Remedy absolutely must manage to make him young like in the original with the real haircut of Max
wdym he looks really great, he just acts more or less like a normal cop in this game.
Don't know if they'll use Sam Lake's face for the remakes since they might want to make it consistent to MP3.
This was probably their fan service for everyone who wanted to see Sam Lake as Max again.
@@thebadwolf3088 I’m pretty certain they’ll use Sam. It’s Remedy that’s remaking them so they’re 100% capable of doing it.
If you played Control, you'll see Remedy doesn't know how to do good models, most the characters's faces looked weird
@@Tigerhearty This model in Alan Wake 2 is the head and haircut that Sam currently has (53 years old)
and Max Payne is not set in 2023 like Alan Wake 2
There's no other who can do a better voice of payne then mccaffrey himself, rip james
2:49 CHILLS 🥹🥹🥹 The theme gives this scene a special feel when you know James McCaffrey has passed away. 💔
3:38 Felt like max payne 1 ending :
The were all dead, the final gunshot was an exclamation mark to everything that had let to this point, i released my finger from the trigger.
Absolutely adore the Control - Wake - Payne universe they're trying to form here. I'm all for it. Hopefully they get the rights back to Quantum Break someday, since Control implies events tied to that franchise as well. QB also made references to the FBC.
Isn't Max payne made by rockstar? It's connected to control and quantum?
@@ImJustLayZ I suspect they’re going to use Alex Casey to replace Max Payne of Rockstar doesn’t give them rights back.
This has me very excited for max Payne 1 and 2 remake
Late Goodbye at the end hits VERY differently now.😔
James McCaffrey (1958-2023) A Bit Closer to Heaven after A Cold Day in Hell.
💀
We was just talking about him and now he passed today 😢
Rip James mcCaffrey 🙏🙏, our eternal Max Payne 🙏😢
I'm super stoked about the remake but without James's voice there's an eternal void to fill but I trust Remedy will do their best.
RIP James 😞
4:35 This can't be more relatable.. unfortunately
It can't be... RIP James McCaffrey 😢
Poor James mccaffrey in max Payne fan 😢😢😢😢😢 rest in piece mate 😭😭😭😭😭 1958-2023 and do ty the Tasmanian tiger
I hope McCaffrey had got his lines done for the remakes. That's probably too hopeful, but a man can dream.
At least celebrity voice AI has become a lot better in recent years.
@@KvltKommandono...
Max Payne voice is probably the best voice in history of voices .the way he talks his lines is just sensational
Duke nukem is a second best
The pain was always there!!!... DAMN! This never started with Alan Wake, it was from the very beginning with Max Payne! Remedy ia awesome. it´s like Christopher Nolan from games
It won’t be the same without our max anymore🥲
Listening to his voice after decades without a new Max Payne game is a surreal treat. Beautiful video and beautiful artwork from the dev team and James.
Ayy that's Payne, whack 'em!
th-cam.com/video/uoONjberGCo/w-d-xo.html
This is so cool. The lighting gives him such a ghoulish appearance, I love it.
Rest in peace, James McCaffrey
Rip James McCaffrey 💔
3:20 He could've used his painkillers when he had the chance.
0:49 Those graphics 🔥🔥🔥🔥
RIP James McCaffrey. 🥺
If you saw his model without playing alan wake 2 you would 100% think it's max payne
If you take a close look when "Max" goes into his inner monologue you can see Sam Lakes Original Max Payne Smirk in breif flashes
The voice of Max ❤
0:10 Hey! It`s Payne. Wreck him!
Whack*
Dude it’s not fair that he died right before he was about to deliver the most fire remake performance ever 😢 RIP James gone but never forgotten
RIP James McCaffrey :'(
same voice actor lessgoo
THIS MAKES ME WANNA PLAY THIS GAME SO BAD RN......... MAN I WANT A PS5 OR SMTH THAT CAN RUN IT. THIS IS JUST SAD AT THIS POINT
There was theories about Max actually a schizophrenic, the things happen in both games max payne 1&2 was actually inside Max's head,Sam trying tell us that Max trapped in this dark dream too and its funny how his name is Alex like his friend who died in the first game.I felt the same way as you while I played this chapter..
That doesn’t make any sense. Life wasn’t fair for Max, he’s a badass vigilante with his sarcastic poems and he isn’t a mentally ill douche like Alan.
@@worlds_greatest_detective6667 are u sure? He calls himself schizophrenic multiple times in the original games lol he’s def got mental issues, I mean mentally healthy ppl don’t pop percs and drink everyday
@@pistachiodisguisey911 He was definitely anti social, I mean his parents died when he was young. Then his wife and kid died and that's when he became unhinged
We'll see him again in the remakes.
Fuck I miss james mccaffrey already
