I love your Ingall sweater and your pj shorts are really cute. I used to do a lot of sewing but I was using a spare bedroom for my sewing room and I always felt secluded from my husband.then I learned to knit and really liked how portable it was, but lately I’ve been wanting to do a little more sewing. When Covid first started I made face masks for my family but haven’t sewn since then. I’m inspired by your knitting and love your color choices too.

Thanks so much. I know what you mean about how sewing can isolate you from the rest of the family. It is good if you can have a balance of each. Thanks for taking the time to leave a lovely comment. :)

Yes, I'd love to see a 2022 compilation too. As for your pj shorts, I would adjust your existing pattern if you're happy with the rest of the pattern.
I'd extend from under the pockets so the top of the pockets still sit under the gathered waistband. Measure front and back waist height separately to your perfect waist placement. I wouldn't change the waistband size as it is elastic and it is sized according to the hip measurement (to slide over the hips) not the waist but adjust the length of the elastic to your new waist. You won't notice any extra gathered fabric when you use a lighter weight fabric like cotton lawn but you could try mashing the size 2 bottom and 0 top of the pattern.
Pattern drafting seems daunting but is awesome.

Thank you so much, Leeanne. That is so helpful. I'm going to give that a go. I am so confident changing knitting patterns. Less so with sewing. But having an understanding of where to start is so helpful. I'll be reporting back. :)

I'm just watching this in Feb of '24, but you can always add pockets by making a colonial (American) pocket. Just place a diagonal slit in the fabric and finish the edge by making a welt. Then sew a rectangle pocket on the inside behind the opening.

That's a very clever way to do it. Thank you for sharing. :)

lovely knits, I find the colour blocking of the t-shirt very pretty, sporty yet delicate. the shorts are a lot of fun. actually my first love was sewing, but I do not have the space and I intend to figure out a way to reclaim some space in my tiny city flat, sewing is more of a fuss than knitting, so I started knitting because of that and how easy it is but I also really want to get back to sewing it has been so many years and I was an advanced beginner so I will start back from scratch whenever that is.

Sewing definitely takes more concentration for me and I feel like i need more of a chunk of time to accomplish anything. I, too, would like to get back into it. It may feel like you are starting from scratch but there will be skills that you will recall and be able to pick up again more quickly than if you had never done them. :)

Wow the green Ilha dress looks great almost finished. You have given ideas. The Misurina yoke looks good but blocking as you go is such a good idea. The Musselburgh hat looks good. The cocktail top looks pretty.
The new yarns are really lovely. Take care stay cool, it was 34 degrees C in Cape Town South Africa

Thanks Rosemary. It sounds like we have very similar weather to each other. It is starting to cool down a little now which is nice. I love autumn weather. :)

Thanks for sharing, really love your dresses. I’d be interested in seeing a what you made in 2022 video, I haven’t been watching any other podcasters doing this if I’ve been watching them for a while as I am familiar with their knits, but as you’re new to me (us) I think it would be really interesting, Karen 🥰

Thanks so much Karen. I think i will do one. I didnt knit nearly as much in 2022 as i have done in years past but i think it might be nice to do one and then compare how things are going in 2023. Thanks for watching and commenting. :)

Hello from States. I would love to see your 2022 knits video. Love all your color and pattern choices. Even before you started the podcast, I used to refer to your tutorial for picking up stitches for sleeve and loved that Ingalls sweater. I'm happy that you are making another one! You are a great teacher with a calming voice.

Thanks so much for your comment Roopa. I am so glad you have found one of my tutorials helpful. I hope the mohair that I am waiting on for Ingalls doesnt take too long to arrive as I am really keen to make another Ingalls. It is definitely my most reached-for sweater. I'll definitely do a 2022 knits video in the next week or so. :)

I wonder if it would be any better knit with something else like a silk mohair - just a thought if you can't offload it and cant think what else to do with it...

Love the colours for the Ebb dress! Have you made any 4 ply dresses? Is it too thin a fabric to get the coverage you need over the butt area to feel comfortable in? Wish we could do another retreat soon!!

I made the Still Light Tunic out of Tosh Merino Light and it has held up really well. I did use a 3.25mm needle so that may be partly why. I am knitting Ilha on a 3.75 mm needle. It seems ok but i will be interested to see how it blocks. It is on the bed drying at the moment.... I'll have to keep my ears out for any more retreats that might be happening, now that Covid is less of a barrier. It would be so wonderful to do another one. :)
