Hi friends! I noticed that with headphones the talking Parts seem to be only heard on one of the sides, my microphone should record in stereo, so I don't know what happened there, but it's not your device that's the issue!
My video going up today I had the same problem with. If you are using DaVinci you probably have one side muted. My son found the probably. Let me know and when I get home I can look at my computer and tell you what to check.
Thanks for making this comment, I was fiddling with my cords and attachments and finally realized I should probably check my headphones with another video. Guess I'll save this to watch tomorrow morning on speakers once my husband's left for work!

Yeah, I'm not entirely sure if I'm going to the right one with the blue texel. I keep thinking about that orange one too... But there will be more yarn and more opportunities to make both!
Have been watching your videos silently for a little while. I really enjoy them! Good thing recommending the name of the wind to your friend, it is my all time favorite book, and personally I think everyone that enjoys fantasy should read it.

(Although that might also be a mental health thing, I currently prefer hobbies that let me curl up on the sofa while I do them...) Very interesting that the "weird" people often became shepherds in the Middel Ages. I guess it makes sense: 'this person is kinda awkward and different, lets just send them away for most of the year so we don't have to deal with them', which is kinda sad, but as a self-proclaimed weird person I don't think I would have minded. Just the sheep, some equally weird co-shepherds, your sheepdogs, and a lot of spinning. Definitely not the worst you could do in the Middle Ages I think. Could you be any more awesome? I went down the sewing to crochet as well as knitting and weaving to spinning pipeline over the years, I guess that is pretty common... I discovered spinning just this year and have participated in TdF with my drop spindle. Only waiting for my flock of sheep by now! I’m still unsure what kind of job I want that is neurodivergent-friendly in the long run but herding sheep sounds like heaven. Terry Pratchett’s discworld is amazing and the Guard series is written from a pretty anti-capitalist point of view :D Big recommendation if you can get your hands on it. In Germany we can request books in our local libraries!
Another great video, thank you. I will be sad when TDF ends! Some people in the states continue with tour de females and the Olympics. Are you able to work in your field of study? Do you do any archeological work. Jillian Eve has interesting videos on viking spindle work.
I do work in my field of study, but only when you take into account that I studied journalism after I studied history and now I work as the spokesperson/communications specialist for my company...
@MijnWolden I forgot to mention yesterday I enjoy audio books. They make housework less painful and keep me company while I craft when I have run out of youtube videos.
Libraries here in Sweden have a service where you can borrow books through them from other libraries, it does cost a little bit (less than a euro I believe) and the time you have them on loan is generally shorter, but maybe something like that exists where you live too? Otherwise I would recommend looking at second hand stores online for books, they generally go for next to nothing and in good condition. I can only think of Swedish sites for this, and Vinted if you have it (not clear on which countries it is launched in). You will still purchase a book but I think it helps keep them out of landfills (and as someone who has worked in second hand for over 3 years, so many books go to the landfill)
Interlibrary Loans are possible, but could you imagine me getting a library card here (I still have the one from my hometown as a kid) and then proceed to ask for ILLs for the next 60 books I read?
@@MijnWolden I feel like that's exactly what libraries are meant for! It might feel a bit weird, but they wouldn't offer the service if they didn't want people to use it
I didn't get into history until I realized that I could learn more about how people actually lived, rather than the political movements of people in power. I'm going to be bringing my drop spindle to a local geek con demo this weekend where I'll be dressed up in my fool garb. 💚
Just a thought for you. Rather than getting a dedicated kindle there are reader apps for phones and other tablets that read kindle format books. So you might be able to skip the expense of an actual kindle device.
As for the library not having books, will they do ILL? Inter-Library Loan is a program in the US where libraries that are not in the same system will share books. Maybe your library has something similar? And I too read fast and was glad to learn that audiobooks have a way to speed them up without making the voice squeaky. I often listen at 1.40x speed. I listen while I sew quilts.
I think the New York Public Library allows anyone to setup a digital library card. So if you're planning to get an e-reader, make sure you get one that has Libby or Overdrive, so you can rent ebooks from the library. There are brands other than Kindle, which I have been eyeing for this exact purpose. I'd love to hear what your local librarians are recommending, if you decide to read something different after Lord of the Rings. I only hear about American books here in America and I'm interested what's popular in Belgium.
Hahah we are the same in all the aspects! I am also an artist who never arts anymore, lol. I barely read anymore either, since spinning has come into my life. However, I am reading shadowmarch and love it! It’s kind of medieval (although it is make believe, and there are fairies and goblins and adventure!) Have you read? It’s a series, but available online and maybe at the library?
@@MijnWolden: Oh, wow! I've imagined a two flyer wheel, or at least a vague outline of the concept but I didn't know they were a thing. I was thinking more in terms of how would you design a wheel so that it spins two threads at once and then plies them simultaneously. That definitely sounds awesome, though.
I'm definitely blue,of every hue from summer sky to deepest navy depending on mood. Does your library not do interlibrary loans? They even went outside of this region to get the last book in a series as well as the university library for a rather obscure book. Loved kindle as besides Amazon could borrow books from library in bed on holiday... ultimate in hobbitness. When eye pain and blurred vision were so bad I couldn't read used Audible on my phone, loved books read by author, but some others did run at 1.5speed. You have inspired me to call around for fleece to work up. Found guy 1.5hr away with 400lbs of 2-3 inch Suffolk fleece I could have have free before goes to dump tomorrow...gas is $3.39/gal... don't think it is worth it.
I also find audio books far too slow. I am a speed reader and get through so many books. After debating the fuel needed to go back and forth to the library, I succumbed to a kindle. Many months on I lost it on a train😱so I have taken control of my husband’s one. Win!
I am a very fast reader and I will only ever listen to audiobooks at 2x speed or more. I could not deal with listening to normal speed, which usually isn't even normal speaking speed since they're told to specifically talk slower. i think for most fast readers 2x speed is the min speed 😅
@@MijnWolden Most are often pitch corrected so it just sounds like fast reading. But that's usually hard to follow for me as well actually! Especially when you get distracted by a thing for half a minute and then miss half a chapter.
Help, the "what color would your life be" question is so hard... The thing is, "rainbow" ist not actually a color... But it would fit perfectly. Being queer, neurodivergent, loving colors and having soo many different interests, it just fits. But the colors definitely have to be the right order, thats for sure 😅 Thanks so much for this delightful video!
Hope is why we exist. Without hope for a good life and friends who are kind. I have 5 good friends and a lot of people I love. Hope that people will be kind. Hope that pain will go. Hope for a good result. Hope that I won't get lost. I studied Medieval History to understand how we got to this place in the world. As a Jew I wanted to understand how antisemitism began and how it has morphed into this intense hatred and jealousy of a religious philosophy. I also have a passion for Medieval architecture and Craftsmanship. I think I was a Medieval Merchant or very fancy clothes maker or quiltmaker. My colour is BLACK. Black has EVERY colour and I look OK in black. I make Quilts and BLACK makes every colour POP. I sometimes worry about my reference and what will happen to them. I love my book collection. Love your content.
Medieval architecture and craftsmanship really are of another level and I will never understand why we stopped building and crafting like that, even with modern techniques.
I don’t know if you’ve tried speeding up audiobooks, they may still be too slow at 2x speed, it I have a friend who has the same problem and will do no less than 2x speed. It’s quite funny because if I hear it I can’t keep up 😂
Is your hesitation in buying 40 Discworld books due to not wanting 40 more physical books in your house, or not wanting to spend whatever it is new books cost where you live x 40? My mom has several websites she's always checking that specialize in thrifted books, so if it's just not wanting to buy too many new things, you could definitely see if there's anything like that in your general area. I have no idea what the thrift book situation is in Europe. I really do recommend getting into Discworld though, they're just so good! I also understand the fantasy book paralysis, because I've recently been re-reading Seanan McGuire's October Daye and Incryptid serieses (she is probably my favorite author, but much more modern fantasy rather than high fantasy) due to not knowing what author to try next, and have been also stymied by my library! Mine is just that I was wait-listed for the e-books, but still. If you do end up getting an e-reader, check what kinds work best with your library's e-books because there are a few different directions they go!
The 40 more physical books yes. My husband and I cleaned our bookcase a couple of weeks ago and there were quite a bit of books neither of us recall buying and also have not read...
I feel the same with audio books! They are too slow and I get frustrated. Also, if my life could be described as a color, I think it would be HEX #450701 (weirdly specific, I know). lol

Liked the video, but something has gone wrong with the audio, whenever you talk I only have audio in 1 ear of my headphones but when there is music it is in both ears.
I know, I posted a pinned comment about it. I'm in the search of what has gone wrong. But as these videos have less than 24 hours between end of filming and publishing... not something I could fix in time.
What colour would my life be? Mmmmm… I’d say it would be a multicoloured mess, mostly bright jewel tones interspersed with mellow ones and the occasional pastel just to jar things up. Because my life is a collection of uncontrolled and uncontrollable twists and turns. It’s changed so often that when having to hunt for a yet another new job at the beginning of the pandemic and the age of 50, the perpetual and oh-so-hated question “where do you see yourself in five years?” flatly got answered with “I haven’t got the foggiest idea, but hopefully here.” This always elicited a “Oh… erm… why’d?” Me: “Well, almost every previous employer went bankrupt but a financial analysis of your company revealed it doesn’t seem likely you are traveling down that road.” Them: “You… you ran our numbers?” Me: “Well, as you can see from my CV, I do have a background in insurance and banking. I know how to.” - Said background has also imbued me with a healthy dislike for consumerism and the patriarchy, but that’s an entirely different matter. The colour of my life right now? Mostly greens (hope) and blues (momentart calm… with lots of currents running beneath the surface) and the odd streak of crisis-red. One thing I’ve managed to steer away from is pitch black. Thankfully. There have been dreary, dismal greys, but thankfully never complete black, even when I thought there would be. There was always some colour or other to throw in some chaos. Audiobooks: only in the car. Every once in a while I do have to drive and that often means being stuck in traffic. When it’s not metal screaming through the speakers, it’ll be a free audiobook to assist in keeping me as sane as this basket-case can be. I do confess to setting the speed a bit higher. Not so high that it feels as if I’m listening to Alvin and the Chipmunks reading Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to me, but faster than the default speed. Your longdraw is really getting good! I’m already looking forward to seeing those gorgeous cabled sweaters. Thank you, by the way, for mentioning the Tour De Fleece Facebook group. I’m having an absolute blast. 💖
@@MijnWolden - Exactly! It took me a while to let go of society’s need for people to plan and box everything and everyone. “I’m going to have X degree and spend my life working as a Y” - Erm… no “I’m getting my degree and moving to Y country to live there!” - Nope. “By age X I’ll be married and have kids.” - Hah. Got the kid, singular. No husband. Worked in many different fields. Swapped travel for work with travel during time off. Don’t have a massive bank account. “I’m going to have a CAREER!” - pray tell me, what is a career? How do you define that career? Materialism? A big paycheque? Or being pretty darn good at what you do and enjoying it whilst being respected for your skills and knowledge? Boy oh boy, did I have illusions. LOL

Oh yes, personal stories are the greatest thing about studying history :D
Just a thought for you. Rather than getting a dedicated kindle there are reader apps for phones and other tablets that read kindle format books. So you might be able to skip the expense of an actual kindle device.
As for the library not having books, will they do ILL? Inter-Library Loan is a program in the US where libraries that are not in the same system will share books. Maybe your library has something similar? And I too read fast and was glad to learn that audiobooks have a way to speed them up without making the voice squeaky. I often listen at 1.40x speed. I listen while I sew quilts.
I think they might, but I'm not even sure they'd have the books in English somewhere, and reading them in Dutch is just not the same
I'm purple at the moment but would like to become pink or green one day.
Purple is a nice colour too?
I think the New York Public Library allows anyone to setup a digital library card. So if you're planning to get an e-reader, make sure you get one that has Libby or Overdrive, so you can rent ebooks from the library. There are brands other than Kindle, which I have been eyeing for this exact purpose. I'd love to hear what your local librarians are recommending, if you decide to read something different after Lord of the Rings. I only hear about American books here in America and I'm interested what's popular in Belgium.
Yeah I said 'Kindle' kind of like we say 'Pampers' but mean diapers and 'Kodak' but we just mean any kind of camera...
Hahah we are the same in all the aspects! I am also an artist who never arts anymore, lol.
I barely read anymore either, since spinning has come into my life. However, I am reading shadowmarch and love it! It’s kind of medieval (although it is make believe, and there are fairies and goblins and adventure!)
Have you read? It’s a series, but available online and maybe at the library?
I am intrigued. medieval and goblins? can it be better?
my life's color would be black for the emo kid in me! hahahaha joking aside, I think it would be green as well :)
Edgy
My library orders books on interlibrary loan for me.
fourth comment! xD with your unsupported longdraw spinning skills getting better, soon you'll be able to spin on 2 wheels at once! :O
Well, Jente is already able to treadle with both feet, so who knows?
Or with one of those fancy parlour/gossip wheels with two flyers!
Have you read Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik? It's a retelling of Rumplestilskin.
I haven't (yet) :D
@@MijnWolden It’s such a good book that I recommend it to everyone.
I think I can, but chances are the books would be in Dutch anyway, and I'd rather read them in English...
Aaah, being in essentially monolingual country I didn't think about that. Es tum mir leid
I also find audio books far too slow. I am a speed reader and get through so many books. After debating the fuel needed to go back and forth to the library, I succumbed to a kindle. Many months on I lost it on a train😱so I have taken control of my husband’s one. Win!
We have bought an e-reader now too, seeing as the cost for inter-library loans would be as much as actually buying an e-book...
I am a very fast reader and I will only ever listen to audiobooks at 2x speed or more. I could not deal with listening to normal speed, which usually isn't even normal speaking speed since they're told to specifically talk slower. i think for most fast readers 2x speed is the min speed 😅
Yeah, I just imagine chipmunk speed to be where I'm at haha
@@MijnWolden Most are often pitch corrected so it just sounds like fast reading. But that's usually hard to follow for me as well actually! Especially when you get distracted by a thing for half a minute and then miss half a chapter.
Help, the "what color would your life be" question is so hard...
The thing is, "rainbow" ist not actually a color... But it would fit perfectly. Being queer, neurodivergent, loving colors and having soo many different interests, it just fits. But the colors definitely have to be the right order, thats for sure 😅
Thanks so much for this delightful video!
If it fits, it fits!
What kind of spinning wheel is that? I'm growing wild flax .
The one I'm spinning on is a Louet S71
I feel the same with audio books! They are too slow and I get frustrated. Also, if my life could be described as a color, I think it would be HEX #450701 (weirdly specific, I know). lol
I absolutely love weirdly specific answers!
Audio books are not my jam for a similar reason! They do not read it the way I would in my head, so I cannot stand it.
Exactly.
Oh I hate that question. I also have absolutely no clue where I'll be in 5 years. I'm living today right?
@@MijnWolden - Exactly!
It took me a while to let go of society’s need for people to plan and box everything and everyone.
“I’m going to have X degree and spend my life working as a Y” - Erm… no
“I’m getting my degree and moving to Y country to live there!” - Nope.
LOL
