When it’s at a big discount, it’s absolutely worth buying. I have that watch and it’s phenomenal. The watch is extremely comfortable to wear. And the lume is great!
I own the original red and black version of this watch and it's one of my favorites. It wears well on my 7.5 inch wrist. Other than the increase in size, Bulova nailed the look of the original. The clasp is stamped, but the bracelet as a whole is a dead wringer for the Champion brand bracelets the originals came with, so it fits in with the vintage vibe. The movement is a baseline offering, but it's accurate, reliable and easily serviced if not outright replaced if needed, so you could consider it well placed for an actual tool watch in that regard. The lume remains visible all night long and is actually superior to some of my more expensive watches. I like the green. If that had been an option when I bought mine, I may have chose it instead of the red and black.
I love this design. Like Tissot, Bulova is often dismissed as a “mall brand” but I think they’re both killing it these days. Pity about the clasp and lack of hacking, though. Another great video, Teddy. Thanks.
My father got me this watch this passed January for my 23rd birthday in a red configuration and I can say it's my favorite watch in my collection. It's so simple, sleek, elegant, classy, I can wear it everyday or at fancy events. When I wear suits they are mostly black or differeent colors. This adds a nice colors and the best part is that they are many different colors of devil divers. I am thinking of getting a green one after watching this video.

I just received this watch today. I didn't get it from Teddy but nevertheless I'll leave a review here. This is a frickin awesome watch! Looks are stunning and it wears great. The only other 44mm watch I have is a Casio Duro but this wears way smaller. I've heard a lot about the Miyota movement and how it doesn't hack and blah blah blah. Honestly. Who really cares about hacking and why? I've never heard a good explanation on why hacking is a big deal. Anyhow if you're on the fence about buying this watch don't be. Get it. Wear it. Enjoy it.

Great review. I snapped up a green dial version a couple of months ago and it has not lost or gained a minute in 2 months. I have a slim wrist but it wears fine and I love the 70s Charm
It would be nice if you showed more watches on your wrist. When I saw the 666 on the model's wrist I thought that it would not fit me, but when I saw it on yours (which is the same size as mine) I realized that it would fit me very well. Now this is a yes yes watch for me.

I love this watch. The cream green dial, the raised lexan hour markers. The integrated cyclops buried into a fully domed sapphire was done really nice. The stamped clasp doesn't bother me. Rolex was still using stamped clasps and hollow end links long after cheaper watches went solid. The one thing I'd rather, would have been a fully green chapter ring. It was a toss up between this and a much cheaper Steeldive green Captain Willard with a Seiko engine.

As far as hacking, it is possible to back hack this movement with a little practice. very accurate, mine runs well within COSC and ISO rated for diving. Great diver at a great price IMO.
The clearance between the case to spring bars makes NATO/ZULU straps near impossible. Unless you attach the spring bars after setting the strap in place or use curved spring bars (I never recommend the use of curved spring bars...)
It looks like your website currently has the watch at $556.50, not $636. The Bulova website has it at $636, but says it's marked down from an MSRP of $795.
The case and the design and colorway are good, but why put such a low-grade movement in a watch marketed as "unique"? Miyota 821A in a watch priced at 550-650$ is obviously a cut corner. Honestly, I have this same movement in a 100$ watch in my collection. 9015 would be at home here

Why do you need hacking on a cheap automatic movement? Think about it. It will only be in sync for two hours or so. Hacking on an automatic is only useful for finding out how bad your automatic watch really is for keeping time.
Beautiful watch, but sadly its just too expensive for its competitors. I would rather get a king turtle. Even a king manta ray can be bought for cheaper.
Great review, I am an old Bulova guy, I'm talking from back in the 60's. I was excited when Bulova brought back the Devil Diver but literally got angry when I looked at it. The movement is cheap, as you brought out, the "Bulova" emblem is inconsistent with the original and looks cheap as hell, plus the finishing isn't nearly as good as an Orient Mako for 1/3rd the price; at over $450? Oh hell no! I appreciate the newer issues coming out for the "Joseph Bulova" line but really ever since Citizen ousted Mr. Thume as the CEO, Bulova has not produced anything I find appealing. I bought the Accu Swiss Murren from 2014 and totally felt that my beloved American Company Watch icon was headed down the right road, after 2016, naw! I have nothing against Citizen, they are a great Environmentally Friendly Corporation, but they stunk up Bulova.
It use is a pity that Citizen /Bulova could not have installed a a higher level Myota movement in this watch! If it was at a realistic. Price,I would buy it in a minute to add to my Archive collection!

I think that Bulova's archive series is the only good thing going on for Boluva today. They should also revive the Caravelles. The rest of their current product line lacks character.

Put this baby on a rubber or even thick leather strap and it would look incredible.
Bulova and Tissot make fantastic pieces with tons of quality.
Tissot powermatic 80 contains plastic parts. For me a no go

I really wish Bulova would offer these unique pieces in smaller sizes. I'd love a lunar pilot too but a 44/45mm case just won't look good on my wrist.

I have the coke reissue and it wears more like a 41mm or 42mm and not like a 44 mm.
Have you tried it on or are you just going if of others reviews? The lunar pilot wears great on the provided nato strap on small wrists

It's a quandary for me. A Bulova quandary...I love this color. But I think I prefer the case shape of the one with the football on the dial.

The seconds hand looks a bit too short to me. The indices are very unique, at first I thought they were built into the crystal.
Honestly, I'd take a beautiful and nicely done bracelet over a milled clasp.
Just got this for $223 after taxes at a gray market dealer, the blue and yellow variant. New with all the plastic still on the watch too.

Although a very nice design, they really dropped the ball with the movement and price. I would have considered this model if not for those 2 issues.
