Thank you Jodie, I share your sympathy for 'the Devil'. When the Oceanographer was first reissued seven years ago, Bulova offered a limited edition with the same orange dial. It had the same bright orange dial, a Sellita movement and smaller dimensions. It cost around £1500. I bought one used a couple of years later.
I have owned the 44mm version of this watch for the past three years and I still enjoy wearing it as a part of my regular rotation. It is the watch that has the fastest rotation of the hands when turning the crown that I have ever seen. 😊 The lume on my watch easily lasts throughout the night. Thanks for the review, Jody.
Bulova sell watches going up to almost £1K and nowadays ANY watch could be considered a luxury in the Western 'Civilised' world where the majority of people own a mobile phone.
Yes I know but I was referring to tom ,saying when he was younger Bulova brand was a luxury, and I answered with five hundred quid because the watch of this show the devil diver is that price .But yes I know Bulova go way over a grand ,t.y for your response.
I received a bulova as a graduation present when I graduated from high school, in 1970, and I was so proud to have it. My Dad wore a Bulova, and it made me feel like an adult! Up until then I only rated a timex or a Caravel!
I've had this watch for a while now and still love it. Got it from Jomashop for $370USD in late 2021. I don't have any bezel fading issues (yet). Routinely wear it on a 19mm Forstner BoR which does make it a bit top heavy but love the overall look.
I have the limited edition version that came out a few years ago, I have #177 of 666 pieces. I really love it. The bezel is white and black on mine and it's on a jubilee style bracelet that the model I bought came with. It's very beautiful the bracelet is so smooth and comfortable and the lume is magnificent. I really love it. One of the favorites in my collection. I believe the version I have has a 26 jewel Swiss movement in it. 😊
Ive had this watch for nearly a year, the profile is just beautiful to me, polished surfaces look great, cool watch with a good pop of colour. If you can get it at the right price its definitely worth it but the big problem for me is serious rotor wobble and noise but apart from that its one of my favourite watches, definitely dont pay rrp though because there is deals out there
Ok, I'm sharing my secret strap hack - strapco has a mystery bundle where you get 10 random straps for $70, ten bucks each BUT they have a buy 2 get 1 free, so 30 for $140 or 4.67 each BUT they are running 25% off for the 4th so 30 straps for $105 pl tax etc, but it's under 4 bucks per and it's a good mix of nato, rubber and leather - cheers!
I bought the green ‘Devil Diver’ a few years ago… I’ve always regretted flipping it. So what the heck… I’ll buy this one. It’s almost a ‘blood orange’, and I love the cushion style case…found it for $400 USD… John shop with an additional $25 discount takes it down to 400
Picked up a blue 44mm factory refurbished with warranty and bracelet for $200 a couple of months ago. Orange version was also offered at that price Great watch with great deals possible.
I have had one for about a year now and it is really good. totally unique and full of character. i don't mind the movement since it back hacks and it is somehow the most accurate watch i have. the bezel insert is definetly acrylic.
I do like this one Jody! I'd definitely wear it! 41mm is a decent size too. Looks good on the rubber thankfully, given it being 19mm. The movement is the reason I wouldn't buy it, it may suffer from the Miyota seconds hand stutter. It definitely should have a better movement for the price. It might be devilishly blasphemous but I'd put an NH35 in there if it would fit!
I had a green dial Devil Diver about 2 years ago. There were a couple things that lead me to selling it; I didn’t love the case shape, the internal cyclops on the crystal or the fully polished case. The bracelet(especially the clasp) and the movement felt cheap. I didn’t think the non-hacking movement would bother me, but a month later I picked up a STO King Samurai for around the same price and that watch blew the Bulova out of the water(in my opinion). The new GMT is intriguing and I may give that one a whirl since there have been some solid upgrades.
Of all my many watchcases this one just plops down on my wrist like a kitten nestling in to find a place to rest. It just is so comfortable. It fits your wrist so perfect it’s really quite extraordinary…..
This may have been mentioned already, but you can get Barton Silicone Elite straps in several different odd sizes. Including 19mm, in many different color configurations. I have a 19mm on my Rdunae "Willard", and it's great.
I purchased the black/red, 44mm version when they were first released and, although I love the style, the size was just a touch too big for me. So when the 41mm series was released (the orange one included), I was very happy - and love wearing it as a fun watch with some serious vintage vibes.
I have the green dial version and its honestly my favorite watch. They are also coming out with a gmt version in august that i will be grabbing right away!
i got an open box blue dial 44mm devil diver last spring for $249 u.s. I got it from the bulova authorized repair place in texas so it came with a 3 year warranty also! way cool. that orange is hardcore! thanks jody!
I got this watch a few days back was wearing it so revisited your video of 44mm to see what you said just yesterday and wow you made this watch today I can't believe the confidence I got the watch for 3 reasons color, color, color.
I was bitten by the deep green one a few years ago. Had always liked the Bulova because my father had one of the original devil divers that he bought in 1968 in Vietnam during the war. But I came by a shop in Florida a few years ago, and there was a large sign with the modern version of that watch, with that deep green face. I had to have it. I found out it would have been a bit cheaper if I had waited a while and bought it online, but I am happy with it, a very nice watch!🙂
I have one of these in my collection and absolutely love it for its quirkiness. You're 100% right on price though. You'd be mad to pay full RRP for one of them but deals can be had pretty easily and they're great fun.
i have the orange devil diver and while i may have better watches, people notice the Bulova and comment in a very positive way. it's a great every day and travel watch. thanks for the review.
I had occasion to see this model in person this afternoon and wow! The camera does no justice in showing just how intense/fluorescent the prance of this dial is. If it were 20mm I'd have bought it and put it on the regular oceanographer's bracelet
I have the 44mm green dial Oceanographer on a bracelet, and absolutely love it. Now you have me wanting to find an orange dial version. That orange is amazingly vibrant, and looks like it will make my orange Seiko Monster pale in comparison.
I was going to buy the Orange Devil, but I went to buy a King Samurai from a watch forum I belong to and had a look at the Green Devil he was selling and I liked it more than the Orange so I bought it too 😃
Bought one of these on Jomashop a couple months ago and the newer Miyota 8 series now actually do hack. Nevertheless, I agree that at this MSRP a 9 series movement would be nicer.
You answered my biggest question about this one, which was about the lume. Those little plastic cylinders are cool but I didn’t know if it “blocked” the luminescence. Love this little chonker!
Hi Jody, had mine for a while now and no fading, my go to holiday watch and regular daily. I do live in the UK though so not enough sun to fade the bezel! Have not worn the black and red 44mm variant since this arrived on the scene, much better dimensions even with a 7.5" wrist.
This is the best looking watch in Bulova's current lineup. Perfect size. The only reason I never had one yet is ... they were just a bit too big. I also like the "MilShips" model but the 16mm strap is... weird. I really have a 42mm absolute top limit - the top of my wrist is very flat and if the lugs overhang it's not only visible but a hassle of knocking the edges on things all the time. I can't think of a single reason why this on will not eventually end up in my collection.
Happened to tried on the MilShip today at the mall. Same reaction about the width of the strap until I tried it on my 6.75 wrist. It wasn’t bad at all. It’s a gorgeous watch with and nice heft to it. Love the bidirectional bezel action. Almost/wish I left the store with one. Good thing for good WIS self restraint in action.
@@AliasHSW - I really liked the MilShip when I tried it on. Fit and finish was great- but a bit pricey even for the lower tier model. In Canada that's a $1000+ watch. If I'm laying out that kind of cash a watch has to be pretty much ticking every box. I've made too many mistakes buying watches that sit unworn for way too long. That's how I learned my "sweet spot" for size is between 38 and 42mm. though. The one watch that is the exception to that rule is a Samurai that I happen to be wearing right now. It gets a lot of wrist time, month to month.
Huh, coincidence... I just picked this one up myself. I'm really on an orange diver kick. And owning a Doxa 300T, Seiko Monster and a Delma Blue Shark III already... well... I figured I might as well give Bulova a try. It does not disappoint; it really is a lovely bright orange. It's smaller than my usual watches, but I just like the color that much. i got one of these for a joma price, possibly from joma (i forget now). luckily mine had the version of this 8000 series movement that had BOTH hacking and winding. still not a fan of the movement because of the seconds hand stalling briefly when your wrist is bumped (second hand on these has indirect drive) but as you point out, the color is so superb, and the veracity to the original, that this is a must purchase for any dive watch fans. nice review.
I have the green/blue one of these and love it. For those considering that variant, it comes on a bracelet which is high polished and very comfortable, but it has an all-pressed clasp which, at rrp is a bit of a p*** take. At a deep discount it's ok.
I think that this watch is really cool. I myself own 5 Bulova watches but not this one. I have been trying to save some money. But everytime I go out and end up walking by a watch shop or jewelry store I end up some how being pulled in and then leaving with a new watch. I think that I might start up a group like AA but for watch collecting and buying addiction. I could probably own my own home by now if I didn't fall down the watch collecting rabbit hole. But hey it's all in good fun and I also love watching your videos. So thanks again
I purchased that watch on Jomashop for $399 last year. Thinking it would be a Summer watch it made the cut and is still in the collection, a year and a half latter
TGV has just introduced the new Oceanographer GMT, a miyota high beat true GMT! There is even a rose gold root beer option though i would hope it has a yellow gold root beer instead.
Very nice looking orange, my couple tea ,I have at the moment, the Milships and love it, not for everyone, because of the lugs, I hear, but I have enjoy very much.,this could be my second Summer watch of 2023 ,I'm wearing today the Marathon GSAR Artic Military Dive 300 mm 41mm in white dial, so thanks again for reviewing this 666 Bulova my next purchase coming soon..loving orange 🍊 all way from St George, until next time ✌️
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the look of this watch. I have the 44mm green version and find it’s s too big for me. I want the orange one so bad but no hacking is a dealbreaker 😢
The hacking point is interesting. A common knock on the 8215 movements was lack of hacking, but rumors started in 2019 that some watches were turning up with hacking. Miyota seems to have confirmed that they started adding hacking to the 82XX series "sometime in 2018" and the first 821As that hacked popped up in 2019. Now Miyota's own website lists the 8215 as having a "stop second device." Yet the first release of this watch in 2021 didn't hack. However, I waited until late 2022 to pick one up and mine does indeed hack. So who knows when the switchover happened to the 821D, but apparently the newest production does hack now. I love mine as a casual beach or summer vacation watch.
I am so happy they've released this smaller version. I really liked the previous reissue but said no because of the size. Jody, if you see a man in a trenchcoat lurking near your car with a baseball bat, that's my accountant who would like a word with you.
Nice, but a shame they've kept the 8000 movt in it. I've got the blue version like Mr P's, love it (and guess who did a great reveiw that sealed the deal for me😅) one my fave retro duve watches
Yeah I have a couple of Bulova's already and really liked that blue oceanographer at the start of the video. However I cant bring myself to wear the number of the beast, it's not gonna happen. Sure I've got loads of divers with 200 meters on the dial but having it as 666 feet nope, I'm out.
Thank you Jodie,
I share your sympathy for 'the Devil'.

I remember when I was a kid the Bulova brand was considered Luxury. But, I was very poor, so.....yeah. 😂
Well five hundred quid his still pretty expensive
Bulova sell watches going up to almost £1K and nowadays ANY watch could be considered a luxury in the Western 'Civilised' world where the majority of people own a mobile phone.

I totally agree, Tom. I remember when I came to Canada 25 years ago and realised I could afford a Bulova!
I received a bulova as a graduation present when I graduated from high school, in 1970, and I was so proud to have it. My Dad wore a Bulova, and it made me feel like an adult! Up until then I only rated a timex or a Caravel!

Not going to miss that one! Love the Devil Diver, doesnt really get the recognition it should on the market. Certainly one of Bulova's best
Absolutely! I have the blue/orange and the black/red, and they're some of my favorites in my collection.

You should do a movement swap - replacing it with the hacking and hand-winding miyota variant.

I really like the retro feel of this one and the unique lume pips are interesting.
AUD 400 for this sounds like a great deal. I’m a sucker for an orange or yellow dial too, great for the summer. Enjoy.👍

I love this. I picked one up from Jomashop. I agree it would be nice to have the 9000 series movement rather than the 8000 series. But what a beauty!
I love an orange watch - I have a G Shock in black and orange which is still one of my favourites, so I'm very tempted by this one!
I have the green dial version and its honestly my favorite watch. They are also coming out with a gmt version in august that i will be grabbing right away!
I've always loved this watch. If I ever ad an orange watch to my collection, it will definitely be this one!
Doxa's orange is also quite good
I knew it, Orange is the Tiffany! I love it! Thanks for that, Jody, 👍👍👍
i got an open box blue dial 44mm devil diver last spring for $249 u.s. I got it from the bulova authorized repair place in texas so it came with a 3 year warranty also! way cool. that orange is hardcore! thanks jody!
Twitter may be dead, but Jody is up and going with a early post! Thanks!
Yes I bought a signum cuda full lume in Orange because I liked the magnificent neon orange too
My favourite Bulova - Jody, I do have a 19mm FKM strap that I was able to source to make this a bit more wearable.
Good choice Jody, I have the more restrained green version, it's a lovely watch to wear and look at. Keep up the good work!
Sooooo orange 🍊, soooooo summer looking! 🧡
Sooooo overpriced for my pockets! 😅
It looks great btw, lume apart, really a stunner!
That orange is incredible
Nice! The orange is especially appealing as my local professional American football team's colors are orange and black like this watch.
I got this watch a few days back was wearing it so revisited your video of 44mm to see what you said just yesterday and wow you made this watch today I can't believe the confidence I got the watch for 3 reasons color, color, color.

K-Billy's Super Sounds of the '70s just keeps on... truckin'.
i have the orange devil diver and while i may have better watches, people notice the Bulova and comment in a very positive way. it's a great every day and travel watch. thanks for the review.
I commend you consistency in posting content. Wake up on the weekend and there is my favourite channel ready to watch with my coffee.
Thanks for watching Rob! 💪
I'm doing exactly that now!😄
I love this one and it's a 'must have' for my collection one day.
I had occasion to see this model in person this afternoon and wow! The camera does no justice in showing just how intense/fluorescent the prance of this dial is. If it were 20mm I'd have bought it and put it on the regular oceanographer's bracelet
If you invert the g (in 99g) it looks like the third 6
I really like that 44mm blue version as I have an 8 inch wrist. What's the lug width on the larger version, 20mm? I do like that ORANGE dial Jody...
I love that watch and I love orange dials. Slightly used is a great way to save. One of your best reviews. Time to add a Bulova I think!! Merci!
You answered my biggest question about this one, which was about the lume. Those little plastic cylinders are cool but I didn’t know if it “blocked” the luminescence. Love this little chonker!
I bought this several months ago and love it. It gets a lot of attention because the orange is so bright. You gotta love the 666 marking as well.
Hi Jody, had mine for a while now and no fading, my go to holiday watch and regular daily. I do live in the UK though so not enough sun to fade the bezel! Have not worn the black and red 44mm variant since this arrived on the scene, much better dimensions even with a 7.5" wrist.
This is a watch I've admired for a long time, but wouldn't buy in the 44mm size, but at 41 with that vibrant orange? Fantastic! Thanls for the review.
I love the way the sides match the strap profile / thickness perfectly.
Looks a nice watch, if a bit overpriced.
Orange is the new black! Upgrade that movement and this would be a major winner. The size is perfect.
The strap is fine once you get it on wrist. The watch is one of few that really look better in person than in photos.
It's not the most exciting movement or anything like that, but it's a fun, affordable orange dial nonetheless. Newer models do in fact hack; mine does!
Like a lot of folk on here I have the Oceanographer that you previously reviewed, it is lovely the downside for me is the depth they are a door handle magnet. Interestingly but not surprising Bulova are realising a GMT version of this the dims to be confirmed but I think they are the same. I would flip mine for the GMT.
Wonderful review, Jodie! Your review convinced me to take the plunge and buy the orange Devil Diver. I absolutely love it! I'm a bit late to the party on this watch, and I don't know why I didn't get it earlier. I'm happy to report that current models now hack! Keep up the great reviews!
Picked one up a couple of months ago on sale for around $460 from Macys. The new versions do have hacking.
I see! This one is a year old.
A Puerto Rico May is lo vende a 750 dollares
Love my green Oceanographer! Thinking about getting the blue and yellow version now!
“Don’t you put that evil on me Ricky Bobby” lol
Too scary for me.
i got one of these for a joma price, possibly from joma (i forget now). luckily mine had the version of this 8000 series movement that had BOTH hacking and winding. still not a fan of the movement because of the seconds hand stalling briefly when your wrist is bumped (second hand on these has indirect drive) but as you point out, the color is so superb, and the veracity to the original, that this is a must purchase for any dive watch fans. nice review.
Just got mine in 44mil (black dial) and I love it. Great vids, great creator!
I have this watch. My ONLY Bulova. I enjoy it. I snagged in new for 300.
Ola donde lo compraste por 300 d?
I have the green/blue one of these and love it. For those considering that variant, it comes on a bracelet which is high polished and very comfortable, but it has an all-pressed clasp which, at rrp is a bit of a p*** take. At a deep discount it's ok.
I do love the Devil Diver, I remember the print ads in the 70's.......
I think that this watch is really cool. I myself own 5 Bulova watches but not this one. I have been trying to save some money. But everytime I go out and end up walking by a watch shop or jewelry store I end up some how being pulled in and then leaving with a new watch. But hey it's all in good fun and I also love watching your videos. So thanks again
Cushion case, orange dial……what’s not to like😎. I’ll keep an eye out for one of these.
I purchased that watch on Jomashop for $399 last year. Thinking it would be a Summer watch it made the cut and is still in the collection, a year and a half latter
That is a great Bulova to add to your collection! Congrats!
Not my cup of tea, but it shows Seiko how to do it properly. Like the internal cyclops which also appears to be properly aligned.
I like the color, but the bezel isn’t my favorite. I love my Lunar Pilot, it’s big, but so am I.
Hi Jody. Thanks for the great video!
TGV has just introduced the new Oceanographer GMT, a miyota high beat true GMT! There is even a rose gold root beer option though i would hope it has a yellow gold root beer instead.
Last year I got the 666 hulk on the bracelet
Get a lot of compliments for it
Orange was just too common in the UK
So 666 hulk was the one for me
Have you seen the new GMT version of this watch using the Miyota 9075? Pretty cool. A higher but appropriate price may seem more in line.
I've always wanted one of these Bulova's,,,,, gonna have check into em
Very nice looking orange, my couple tea ,I have at the moment, the Milships and love it, not for everyone, because of the lugs, I hear, but I have enjoy very much.,this could be my second Summer watch of 2023 ,I'm wearing today the Marathon GSAR Artic Military Dive 300 mm 41mm in white dial, so thanks again for reviewing this 666 Bulova my next purchase coming soon..loving orange 🍊 all way from St George, until next time ✌️
I’d like to see this one with there special quartz movement
I love the hands and the indices
Wow, now my watch can count towards my blaze orange coverage when rifle season comes back in.
Compared to Doxa sub 300, which is more orange?
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the look of this watch. I have the 44mm green version and find it’s s too big for me. I want the orange one so bad but no hacking is a dealbreaker 😢
I own this watch and love it. Put it on a white rubber strap and it's a fantastic summer watch.
I actually prefer the orange on my 5kx seiko. This devil diver is still on my list though. i need all the orange dials lol
love it mate..the greenun looks half about as well!
Hi Jody, great review. I have two orange watches already but once again you bring temptation into my life.
This watch is perfect if you’re ever in San Francisco on a Friday night and the Giants are playing 👍. Go Giants. 😁
I love Bulova watches. This is an orange summer watch
You have convinced me... ya, I'm getting that tee shirt.
I am fond of my boluva 96b229 with the rare screw down crown. Not a diver more of a military style.
The color is chemical red-orange, known as vermillon read as vermiyo.
The only reason I didn't bought yet, is the movement.... Sadly, because the watch is beautiful in this colourway 🔥
Seems to going for less than £400 in UK, could be worth a pop if discount codes can be found
As you probably know, they launched with a LE incl a SW200 movement. That's the jam!
Wow! When does that come out? I'm keen!
Launched with it ... 666 pieces. Quite a bit different. Send you a pic.
That's an amazing color!
I like that. If you’re going to do orange, do orange properly! 🍊🍊
Jody, I have the same watch, but I wear my blue version more. Mainly because of the 19mm lugs dimensions. I don't have any straps that size. 😢
Great video Jody! Lost me when you revealed the movement! It’d be a no brainer if it had a 9000 series! Cheers!
