Hi Brian, just to share my experience of f16. Bought kit by mistake. Ordered motor from bangood and got esc, servos and cables from an old plane. First flight on 3s...no power crashed. Glued together and boiled nose to straighten. Second flight harder thow, no power crashed. More glue and boiling water. Bought some 4s 1500 batteries and cut out foam to fit. Third flight no power on 4s and worse crash. More glue and boiling water. Then noticed that the long wires I had used were dangling down and blocking the air intake. Cut hole in bottom and taped wires to top of fuselage. Glued back the piece I had cut out to make hole. Looks like crap. Fourth flight still on 4s. Massive power now and terrifying flight with too much aerolon throw.....but landed OK with no further damage. Cut down throws. Fifth flight perfect......I love it. Perseverance is all. Andy in uk.

Funny thing, If you like the F-16 - you would FREAK at how much better the F-18 is!!! I know, I'm an F-16 guy, but the F-18 was just BETTER...P.S. I promise, not trying to "rub it in" or anything, given the circumstances you faced with your F-16, sounds like you really like it. Also, I think you had the better pick for size of pack. I bet you had the CG SPOT ON with those 1500mAh 4S packs.

Awesome! Reminds me of excessive the oscillation I had with the Freewing F35. I used a salvaged AR631 from a crashed Viper 70mm. Replaced it with a new AR630, going to try it this weekend.
Yep, you CAN resolve it with AS3X programming, or you can make mechanical adjustments.

I love the dual stabilizers on the F-18. Would be nice if they actually functioned as rudders though lol.

Awesome Video! Other than your receivers do these planes have the same electronics config (blades, kv, esc)? did you fly them both with stock electronics?
Everything but the Rx and Battery YES. They are PNP, but you can find them as ARF's too, I believe. Follow my link, and read to be 100% sure. I got mine as PNP.

Alternative to drilling hole closer to aileron servo arm pivot point, moving control rod to hole all the way out on aileron control horn would de-sensitize to the same degree with less effort.

Please help me Brian..I bought one f18 pnp and i put to test one 1550 4s 100c...But when i move the stick throtlle max is cutting off power and beeps..How i have to do because make this in 3s and 4s!!

(Long story, BUT), that YOU know of, is there any dual rate/expo adjust on the nx8 fir channel 6 for an AR631 reciever?
(Buddies aeroscout, elevator channel is inop. I put elevator on ch6 & it works fine. Mixed elevator/master, ch6/slave. BUT its 100% everything, 100% of the time. Rx is out of warranty.)

no changing out anything except for minor control horn adjustments, and only since I used a beat up AR636 form another plane, and didn't bother re-programming it.

I've been flying rc helicopters since 2001 this is going to be my first EDF jet which is on the way from Bangood should be here on the 22nd. I'm then going to get the A-8 Crusader from Motion Pro hopefully this F-18 50mm jet will be a great starter Jet so I should go with 4S over 3S because it looks better in control with the 4S! Is this a great starter jet!?

Dude some of those maneuvers! If it had been me at the controls I would have put a hole into the side of your garage! Oh no 🙈 the ossilation! My ranger 400 was suffering from the 737 max push the nose down auto correction but luckily making it super tale heavy kind of fixed the problem. Love what you did to the f 18 especially!

I always get SUPER nervous when I fly my rc plane, is there some way to stop that or is it just to fly and get better so I don’t have to worry?
Fly like 100,000 more times, and you'll get a lot better. I'm not nervous now, but get nervous at some maidens. Mostly on landing, or if something goes wrong. FIGHT OR FLIGHT - hard to break this, you just have to work through it.

Oh yeah! We do it all the time. If you want to see HOW, we have many PNP planes and put SAFE equipped Rx'es all the time.

If you used the AR630 rx in the F-16 would it be a good beginner EDF?
Still a handful...but for a second or third, AND in the right flying site, sure ;) Get a good battery and make sure you have the CG right. The F-16 was correct in the paperwork, if I recall...the F-18 was WAY off, but someone JUST told me Eachine updated the notes to read 55mm back from the leading edge of the wing.

I think you might be right. The Arrows are a better value, no doubt, but if you want BOTH...these are pretty sweet too, with the OBVIOUS choice being the F-18

I have sooo many flights on the Arrows Viper and i can tell you, it is by far and large the best 50mm out of the bunch.
Almost want to try the F-18, but ... i have to ask...what in your opinion makes the Arrows T-33 so much better when it has less power?

Hi Brian does the 4s 2200 make the plane nose heavy as the recommended battery is 1300-1800? Did this change the center of gravity?
Yeah, COG is much further forward but it clearly handles it ok. He discusses it indoors after the 1st F18 flight.

@@colinggold Yep 4s 2200 lol... barely fits but he managed somehow. I think the reason is he only had 2200's in 4s.
Will land a bit faster and harder but the upsides are 5 min flight time and a bit more weight to handle the wind and penetrate better.
Fair play to him, I would not have predicted much success with that much extra weight!
This was discussed in the video, but yes. I'd rather use a 1300mAh 4S, but I don't have one. If that size were popular, I could get the CG better, but the nose heavy-ness has proven to be a non-issue

I have an FPV proposal. There is nothing more cool than landing FPV. It heightens the experience because things are happening, and the ground is coming up, and it is total immersive experience. Here is the proposal: FPV landing with PAPI lights that shoots the landing decent approach. PAPI lights would give you the proper glide descent angle. I have not yet seen any youtubers make a PAPI light FPV landing approach video. I just think that would be so neat.

I personally have not flown rc in 20 years, but I am looking at the turbo timber with its flaps and slats and I want to do FPV touch and go.By the way, PAPI lights are not hard to make. It doesn’t even have to be a ‘light’ It can just be visible white and red paint that is half covered (ie the red is covered up at a certain visual angle and the white at another angle). PAPI lights.

I can't say MAX, since the size I used would be pretty much the max (2200mAh 4S) 1300 - 1500 mAh 4S would be better
