Very interesting video. Thanks for pointing out that Amazon is a place where you need to have a strong sense of ownership regarding the things you do, rather than sitting around just waiting for someone to give you approval. It can be very frustrating in an organization where people are not given that freedom to try something new.

Hi Holly, Thank you for your videos. I used them to get an offer from Amazon in the finance team ( not a tech role). In fact after my interview I was offered a role higher than what I was interviewing for (L6 against L5). It would not have been possible without your videos and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart especially when the odds were against me as I was interviewing for a role in a country (UK) I had no experience in and in department where I haven't really worked for (corporate banking to commercial finance) Keep up the great work, Thanks SV

I like that you brought up the culture because it tells a person what they're stepping into. I've pretty much had to sink or swim in most of my roles and I wasn't able to "wing it". I think it's a better way to learn sometimes. It works for me. Now I have confirmation that working at Amazon would suit me. I don't wait for answers. I have to figure them out on my own but again, it works better for me. I always say "I learn better that way". Not only do I have a better answer to why Amazon, I have a better reason to work there. I’m prepping for an interview, but I am really skeptical about that leadership principles. In my current job, a fast growing startup, they overly emphasize the culture index (with a weird name “ethos”). Outside my team, I just found those values ironic, totally different from what I’ve witnessed. Now I got really bitter taste about anyone bragging about their “cultures” and “values”… Thanks for the great contents!

I am a network engineer applying for a Solution Architect role. This represents a huge break with my comfort zone. I’ve made it through 2 phone screens so far! I was an employee referral so I think I got an extra phone screen. Next & final step is the loop interview and I’m waiting to hear confirmation date/time. This and a lot of your other videos have been super helpful in prepping- thank yooouuuuu! ♥️
