some modern smartphones have a ToF-sensor (time of flight) build in which does exactly this, building a depth map. It is only used for the bokeh effect but it would be awesome if it were possible to use this sensor for this 3d Foto effect.
I'm pretty sure it's possible to extract such a depth map from it. But most programs I found are all with a command prompt (from GItHub). I can follow some guides, but I don't know my way around such programs myself.
it would be great if you could make dolly (on z axis) shots with depth map, not just side movements in ae. if someone knows a way to do that hit me up! 😂

What was the paid plug-in? I’ve been trying so hard to find a way to make depth map for video or a sequence of photos

Very sorry for your loss :( This has been a very difficult time for a lot of people, myself included. Don't want to take away from your situation but I'm personally have issues installing the Google AI you talked about at the end of your video. Don't have much experience with Python or CMD prompts ... and the bi-lingual guide was also kind of confusing too. Can anyone possibly help?

Is there any way to combine this with camera movement in after effects? To change the "perspective" with the camera position instead of the displacement controls? Great video btw. Thank you so much!
Can you find out how to combind this 3d technique, with taking few different angles (to not make the movement give the blurry lines) or using green screen to take background with out subject and how to help the 3D algoritm to content aware fill with that.
What would be the best way to combine these?

I'm sorry, I didn't thought about that. I don't know much myself of that whole Google AI. I just followed that guide and it worked for me.

So, 4 months after, I tried to follow this video.
1) Google does NOT support AMD-based GPU's, even though they outperform nVidia's cards on OpenCL. Google requires CUDA.
2) PyTorch uses CUDA and has NO SUPPORT for anything made by AMD.
3) Adobe likewise refuses to support AMD in any meaningful way.
I can find absolutely no reason that this is the case! Can you perhaps offer some insight on this, Jordy? Why do all of these agree that AMD is somehow bad?

I liked it. But this is actually not the best way. I mean displacement map. Also depthy.me no longer exist. Compared to what Facebook can do with a photo and a depth map, the displacement map works just awful.

Heads up. Python no longer supports the Stereophoto Maker app on a Windows 10. It seems you need Windows Server to support this app. Too bad because it looked very promising.
Thank you mate. Just a recent update: you can now use the neural filters in photoshop to make a depth map. There is a filter there called depth blur. It isn’t brilliant, but you have the option to export the depth map only, so here you go.
