    I own this cam for almost 3 years now. I still love the look of the footage and the skin tones (mostly 4k J-Log). The original mic is useless, the flipscreen is so so. I wouldn`t rely on it while shooting 4k and using fast lenses wide open. I recommend to take a bright monitor with you outdoors. Be careful with the ND-filter, when changing it. Sometimes it doesn`t lock right in. At first I thought my sensor`s crashed, so first check your ND. I don`t like the very long build of this cam. With a frontheavy lens there`s no chance to put it on a gimbal like Ronin-s. The body is plastic. It`s not weather sealed and If it falls on hard ground, this cam is history. The angels of the flip screen broke half a year ago, JVC repaired it for 100 bucks. All in all now in the year 2019, cause there are lots of alternative cams out there, I would think over it to buy it again. SSD drives became much smaller and cheaper now (1TB for 180 $). But if you want a super 35 cam this is an afordable one, or take a used Sony FS-5 and of course there is still BlackMagic...

    great walkthrough of the LS-300 -- sure not the first one I've seen, but one of the best! Also like your list of links and accessories you put in the description. Very nice!

    Just picked up a LS300 to pair with my GH5 and learning all the ins and outs. So far I'm really impressed with the features and looking forward to some testing before taking it out on a shoot. My first minor complaint is the mounting holes on the bottom, only 1 threaded hole which does not work well with Kessler quick release plates because they require 2 threaded holes to keep the plate from twisting and I use Kessler plates on all my cams. Other than that I wish it came with a stand alone charger instead of having to mount the battery on the cam to charge.

      You can get a IDX LC-2J which is dual charger and charges batteries simulataneously. - www.idxtek.com/products/lc-2j/ I will sell you mine for $100 if you are interested.

      As far mounting goes I never really had the same problem as you, but you can use the one threaded hole and use the locator hole. On page 27 of the manual you can see the style tripod head it was designed for. - pro.jvc.com/pro/attributes/4k/manual/GY-LS300EN.pdf

      I found a really right stuff arca-swiss plate with a anti-twist pin that should be compatible with the Kessler receiver, I'll probably give that a try.@@VidHeadz

      My model # is PCUSBW1150 but it's really old...as a matter of fact I think it was one of the first models when they first came out. I just did a quick check and I see an upgraded versions patriotmemory.com/product/wireless-lan-usb-adapter-300mbps/ I was able to get good consistent streaming from both the HM200 and the LS300. It might be your settings cause I remember it taking us weeks of testing and tweaking before we were comfortable using it in live production...also I wouldn't try to stream anything more than 720p quality, If I remember correctly I think that's where the sweet spot was

    My daughter needs a camcorder for weddings.
    She shoot micro four thirds
    How are the menus on the jvc???

    • @VidHeadz
      @VidHeadz  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, there is a few different M4/3 cams that will make a good wedding cam. Off the top of my head I would look at JVC GYLS-300, GH5 Series Cameras, Z Cam E2C. They all have their pros and cons. It matters what you need out of a cam to work to your strength. When I used the JVC GYLA-300 for weddings I was very satisfied with the imagery I got out of the camera. I used the J-log profile exclusively with it and love it. Menus are decent (See Michael Turners Video on the menus in the JVC - ( th-cam.com/video/Rpb4lU_nsHE/w-d-xo.html ) to use but the LCD screen is not the greatest. May need an external monitor at some point. The GH5 would probably be a better starting point (assuming your daughter is a beginner). The stabilization in the GH5 is unmatched and it has great imagery and simple to get up and going. The GH5 probably has the most information out of the 3 here on youtube where you can find out anything you need to know about the cam. The Z Cam E2C is also a good choice but lack auto focus and it mainly a cinema camera. Like I said they all have their pros and cons. I'm not sure what the budget is but the JVC GYLS-300 is around $1600, GH5 is around $1300, the Z Cam E2C is $800. Let me know if you have any more questions.

    ¿Have you ever shoot an action scene with the JVC GY-LS300? ¿How does it look?

    • @VidHeadz
      @VidHeadz  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      meyproducciones not as of yet. I just jumped into this cam a little while ago and preparing for my tv show projects. I have a no ie that I will be shooting starting this spring and there is a few action scenes in it. Hopefully in our rehearsal I can get a good idea as to how it will look. I have shot a few dance routines at weddings and they look good. You will need.to have the shutter speed up a bit I would imagine so that means making sure there is adequate light.

      Thank you @Peter Turner, I have been using the sony mic for quite some time. When I went to the JVC mic it was so so for me. I use the shotgun mics for weddings to capture voice overs. It is just my opinion.

    Hi very nice Review :) i have two questions! 1.i see you have many lenses, what would you recommend between these two brands veydra over rokinon or rokinon over veydra lenses? 2. Why you think the LS300 is better than a LUMIX GH5? i have seen some footage from the JVC and damn the quality is really good i don't know if i should buy a JVC or a GH5 OR GH5s..

    • @VidHeadz
      @VidHeadz  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      YB FILMS I would not say the LS300 is better, because I believe they all habe their strength and limitations. When I bought the LS300 I got it used for $2k at B&H. Then I got a second one used for $1850 off eBay. So the affordability got me looking at the LS300 and I liked what I seen. I wanted more cinema and for those that know cinema is usually shot in full manual. So when I saw the LS300 and the quality it produce I was sold. It gives very nice imagery in 4K. That is another thing as well, 4k is not for everyone either. I like 4k because I have a lot more control over framing. I can zoom and pan in post because of the 4k imagery. So really for me it is about frame control. You need a beefier computer to process 4k as well.

    • @VidHeadz
      @VidHeadz  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      YB FILMS when it comes to lenses. I habe the Rokies because of the affordability. I'm am currently looking at the Veydra Mini Primes but just have not pulled the trigger as of yet. I do think the veydra is a better lens but I do not know if it is worth spending for the upgrade. If there is not much visible difference for my clients then I would rather wait and save for PL mount lenses.

    Very good camera, it is unfortunate it was discontinued, I hope they will come out a successor.
    Will you pick a GH5 over this today?

    • @VidHeadz
      @VidHeadz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Today with the choices that I have, I think I would go with a Sony A7III looking at the price range. But the GH5 is a good camera as well. The in body stabilization is unmatched, but the auto focus leaves more to be desired. If it was just a choice between the two cams (LS300 & GH5) with the work that I do on a normal basis I would most likely go with the GH5. Main reason is gimbal use.

    • @wckoek
      @wckoek 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @VidHeadz
      @VidHeadz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@wckoek that looks nice as well. But for the same money I would probably go for the Z-Cam E2. It has 10bit 422 color as well and does 4k at 120fps.

It always blows out the highlights with strange halos of yellow, it’s built like garbage, image sucks, menu’s suck. And I just don’t like it.
