    The preset white balance (@ 2:50) is for quick select, meaning, when the switch is on preset, pressing the front white-balance button will toggle between 3200k and 5600k.

    Very nice review! Very informative, everything I wanted to know! I never knew that those lenses are pronounced Ron-Kinon! Looks like Roke-inon to me. ;) I will say that I've never worried about lenses on the Micro 4/3 mount on my Panasonic cameras, it seems more than robust enough, but I've also never put really big lenses on it.

    One pleasant surprise to me for JVC LS300 was that all of my mFT lenses could cover 100% of the larger Super 35 sensor without using any cropping via JVC's Variable Scan Mapping (VSM), the only exception was my 12-100 F4.0, with which I have to apply about 84% cropping factor to avoid vignette on four corners. In other words, most of mFT lenses (my 17 F1.8, 25F1.2, 45F1.2, 60F2.8 Macro, 40-150 F2.8 were tested) covers more area than that of an mFT lens was designed for. I am glad that my mFT could be used for the Super35 sensor of JVC LS300 which has much bigger sensor area (24.89mm x 18.66mm = 464.4mm2 on Super 35 sensor vs. 17.8mm x 10mm = 178mm2 on mFT sensor at 16:9 ratio). Very smart design from JVC for choosing mFT mount on its LS300 Super 35 sensor camcorder!

    Hi Anthony, thank you for the helpful review! I recently purchased this camera and can not figure out how to cascade the cards so that 1 card records on HD and the other 4K. I also can not find this info in the manual... how do I go about doing this?

    What lenses would allow me to have a smooth long (like 20x or more) zoom not like DSLR that you have to zoom by hand and it's not smooth and slow?

    Hi Anthony, thanks for the great review. I'm seeking a camera that can take an ENG lens suitable for sports filming. The LS300 is right in the right range and would surely work work with an expensive long range ENG lens. I have a Canon XF705 and the intention was to have a great run and gun camera that could also be adaptable for sport but unfortunately the Advanced Zoom feature that takes the camera to X30 when in 1080 is a total let down. Really poor quality pics. Thanks in advance

    Hi Anthony. You mentioned that it has a fan and can get quite hot. Is there any audible fan noise? If so, does it pick up on the recording?

      No, it doesn't get hot except in direct sunlight and you won't hear any fan noise in the field.

    Hi, can someone help me with the following question...
    I'm looking for a zoom lens (preferably with a min. range of 28-200mm full-frame eq.) that works together with the zoom rocker of the JVC GY-LS300. I've already tried quite a few lenses, but either the zoom range is too limited, or the zoom rocker doesn't cooperate...
    Even with mount adapters, it is usually the case that the electronic commands (from the zoom rocker, among others) are not passed on to the lens...
    Thanks in advance for your response.

    Hello Anthony,
    I don't know if you've used some native m4/3 lens (especially manual ones) on the ls300 but in case you had... i would like to know which m4/3 lens vignette less on a aps-c sensor. I know they all will vignette somehow...
    Thanks.

    • @gsherlock
      @gsherlock 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Samuel Cabral m4/3 lenses will not vignette at all if you remember to adjust LS300 sensor to work with MFT system which uses about 80% of the cameras super 35 sensor, this is at 13.00 minutes on this video.

    • @samucabral
      @samucabral 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was thinking on using m4/3 lenses on the new Sony a6300.
      I just wanted a reference, since the ls300 is the only camera with a m4/3 mount and a s35 sensor. But that's fine.
      Thanks for the help!

      Each lens has a different sized circle of light. Zoom lenses can vary across the zoom. I don't have the resources to test every lens. Sorry.
