    Great job Tanner. I wouldn't worry honestly there are plenty of us running far higher than you are on stock block. I'm at 470whp/407wtq (mustang) on stock block and stock clutch on a Xona 6564 rotated on E30 (2019 STI) and I've seen a few guys running over 500whp on stock block so I am sure you'll be fine. The ethanol fuel massively helps to keep cylinder temperatures down and knock to pretty much zero and is another key to keeping the stock block alive.
    It's mostly how you treat the car and how you maintain the car from now on which I know you are killer at and will make the difference to the stock block lasting or not.
    You have seen exactly what I did with the FP Blue on pump gas - the gains over stock turbo were disappointing to me hence why it wasn't on my car for very long. Most of your gains have came from the flex fuel element of the setup which is great but I don't think your FP Blue has left anything on the table. It has great spool and daily drivability though which makes the FP Blue a perfect daily driver turbo.
    Enjoy your new setup Tanner and welcome to the exclusive +400whp stock block club! Real figures too not inflated dynojet figures :))))

      Lol thank you! And I want to push for more. We ran out of injector and fuel pump at the tail end. We turned fuel pressure up a little to simulate a 1200ish injector. In a few months I want to go back with 1300s and a bigger fuel pump and see what I can get again 😅 but the car feels so different than before jts crazy! Gling to incrementally keep pushing the OE block. Only issue I have is I don't have the Type RA short block like you do so my internals are a little more fragile so not quite sure where the beaking point for the rods and pistons is going to be 😅

    Its generally the torque #s that can dictate block lifespan. My tuner won't go over 350 torque as a daily driver, but will go higher if u want. That ETS exhaust is sick!

    • @Smeedia
      @Smeedia  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats what Chris told me as well, they will generally stop at 350 WHP unless you tell them to keep going but most don't have a real working knowledge of that their asking the tuner to do, so taking liability and not trying to place blame on the tuner at that point needs to be understood 😅

With all the craziness that is going on I have not really been out driving anywhere. But I am guessing it will be similar to yours with the 350 whp on pump. I did not have the e85 set up.

    You are a good chef your parts recipe worked as hoped for. 400WHP 💪 is dam impressive on a stock block, hopefully the engine stays together for you. If you have the $$$ look into a Fluidampr crankshaft dampener, makes modified higher HP blocks last longer. Your tuner is compassionate and saved the day, which is nice to see. Devil 👺is always in the details is it not!

    How much to they put down stock my friend ? Whp on a stock sti. I'm so close to getting one. I'm getting a better deal then before . So hopefully a few more weeks. The dealer got in contact with me and it's like $50 less than what I'm paying now and I don't have to put anything down but my car and its the base 2020 STI and I want black :-) I mean part of me doesn't want to trade in my car because I only like 13 Grand on it, but the STI is what I've been wanting for a long time and I just couldn't get it at first so now that I paid more my car off and my credit score is higher and they're obviously not selling cars like they were I'm still being pulled to the STI. I think I would be perfectly fine with it on a stage 1 map and just a catback going to axle back I just love the way they sound and I really want that transmission. Let me know what you think please I'm just thank you and good luck with the car be safe

    You're tempting fate pushing past 350whp on stock bottom end - even with all of the right supporting mods. There's only so much those hypereutectic pistons can handle before one of your ringlands decides to take a nap - please, dont beat on this until you get enough for a forged bottom end upgrade. If the engine blows, it will take out pretty much everything that has oil running through - with it.
    Great results - but terrifying knowing thats running a stock block at those figures.

    • @Smeedia
      @Smeedia  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm fully aware, if it blows the heads will be pulled and re machined if they're salvageable, if it also blows swapping the car to a rotated set up and shooting for more power. Worse comes to worse I have to buy a new long block but I intally set out to see how much power I can pull from the block. Realalistically I drive the car on spot mode and a E40 blend so hanging out around 350WHP on a normal day, don't ever have a reason to set it to full send mode. But aplreciate the added tips! 😁

  • @octurbojoe
    @octurbojoe 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow, what an exhausting experience! But well worth the blood and sweat put into the car.
    My mentality with modded stock blocks (even built blocks) is that just because the dyno says it makes that much power, it doesn't mean you should always use it. Unless you've got assloads of sponsorhips and unlimited resources then by all means, rip away.

    • @Smeedia
      @Smeedia  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally agreed, I drive the car on sport mode on an E40ish blend so normal driving is around 350-360 WHP at WOT, dont ever really have. Need to go full send at 400. But super happy with the tune and how the car responds 🔥

      @@Smeedia Same. Always on S with 331/350. I'm still on the stock clutch as well. My highest torque figure the wheels on S# is 400 on 92 pump but I'm rarely ever, if not, never on it. I've had the Cobb 20G for a year so as long as you're forgiving with your driving, the clutch should last you for a good amount of time.

    Since I'll be hitting up the tuner next week (hence trying to get all this done).. You mentioned the fittings/hoses on the wastegate (TIAL).
    One thing I do notice is the size difference between the EWG fittings, and the EBC. (I have the COBB EBC I'm hooking to).
    What did they have to do to pass for tuning? I have the same EWG/Up-pipe, and pretty much same EBC configuration, so am curious to know before I go into it!
