The real benefit is the lack of heat soak on a rotated set up getting the iat intake temp and maf tube out of the intake block radiator hose area that heat soaks, you can run more accurate iat timing compensation.

Ended up going stock location as the car already had all the stock location parts completely upgraded and for my build I went with the dominator 5.0 which says it’s max rating is 650hp. I went with a new ultra v3 closed deck block with 1/2 studs and all of the strongest parts along with race ported heads and Kelford 282 high lift cams so I’m excited to see how much power it puts down. My tuner recommended going with a rotated setup but since I already had all the stock location stuff it was much much cheaper and I really don’t want a turbo bigger than the dom 5.0 unless it’s a twin-scroll setup.

    • @Smeedia

@@rcstackz7333 on low boost 25 psi it made 510whp on a hub dyno, spooled up at around 4000 rpm. I was scheduled back for a high boost tune 36 psi or so but before I could the new engine spun a rod bearing from oil consumption during cold starts where I let it warm up a long time in 10 degree weather. Thought the smoke was just exhaust because it was cold but turned out it was oil.
My tuner was actually impressed by the turbo and said it had a lot more in it since they suggested I spend another $6k to go rotated but I feel it’s the best balance between high power and fast spool-for a big turbo.

Uhhhhh what size turbo is best for my car I’m it needs to sound cool umm no other suggestions haha jkjk my suggestion many turbos for many different applications and don’t be afraid to change your turbo to better suit an event I change turbos as needed but mainly run a td06 20g 8cm, but if I’m doing right auto cross, I use the stock ported vf39, and if I was to road race or do a half mile rolling race I’d probably look at a gt 3582 fully rotated set up, or bigger whatever my engine landed on, supposedly the tdo5 8 cm 20 g or the tdo6 20g is the sweet spot for the ej25 with the tdo5 spooling lightly quicker but not holding power as long as the tdo6 so those two turbos is the battle of which one of those to get for 380-400 hp and 400 on ethanol for sure

Instead of spooling around 3k-3.5k rpms, the car spools at 4k. But I find myself not ever really needing boost and low end power for the car is still great for dailying (~210whp below 4k rpm).

Just curious if anyone has seen the Blouch Dom 5 hold up to those numbers? It's a pretty difficult turbo to find real world examples of. A lot of the sites that sell it just say 650HP, but do not specify any WHP. I did find from an unverified source that the impeller exducer does measure a bit bigger than the FP Black 82hta so that at least tracks. My STi did 580whp with the Dom 5, (but that was at 31psi and a LOT of ignition advance) using the Dynojet setting on Virtual dyno software. (The soft spot on cyl 4 EJ257 didn't hold and split the cylinder). Hope to find more examples and provide my own when I get things sorted out.

I've got oodles of videos on longevity, depending on what the car is you might be safe. On my 17 STi I hit 401WHP with no engine issues. But to play it safe anything above 375 would be ideal to get a built block

    • @imistimed6901

As smeedia just said. Depends on the car. I've got a 18 STI pushing 420whp/370wtq on e70. Speaking to the tuner, he said it's perfectly fine as long as you don't bang through gears all the time although a built block would for sure ease your mind. Grabbing the right tuner really helps and they will know what the car should and shouldn't do.
