Charles, Sadie, etc didn't die but were busy not being scumbags. Arthur didn't want them there to avoid anyone getting killed. John wasn't supposed to be there either, which meant Arthur had to change plans to save him instead of going after Micah and Dutch suicide style.

Red dead redemption 1 is set about 15 years after rdr2 is set, therefore the rest of, or most of, the gang members left in rdr2 are alive. Dutch in rdr1, I assume, goes completely insane or gets something wrong with him like depression and jumps off a cliff killing himself.
I can believe Micah, Dutch, and Bill betraying him, but I really don't understand how everyone else did. Dutch was too stupid and arrogant by the end where I knew that was going to happen, the entire storyline events were sabotaged by micah's help with planning things out, and it always seemed like whenever he was involved or knew about something it went south. I knew he was going to be a main problem once i found myself slaughtering half a town because of him. Bill was always acting completely arrogant, selfish, and out of pure greed and didn't care if anyone got in the way. The way they act in rdr1 makes so much sense playing this game now, and John's descriptions of all of them are spot on in character
Satan: "A 'good' man. I'm afraid his body count would seem to disagree with you. If it is any comfort he'll be serving me in my hunting ground forever."
Fun fact: when Javier points his gun up instead of at John and Arthur, that was actually requested by the voice actor for Javier. The voice actor didn’t think Javier would side with Dutch so that’s why.
I find it cool how helping John involves climbing a mountain, being very high in the sky as though it is symbolic for heaven, where as going back for the money has you go back down to your burning camp, symbolic for hell.
I love how it kinda goes full circle from the first mission: now as John, you must brave the snowy mountains much like Arthur did for him. As John goes up the mountain, the music and cues from the first game come on, evolving him into the John we all know and love.
Arthur is the only character in ANY game that I’ve played that had me crying when they died. Edit-(Bruh everybody telling me games in the comments. I’ve played most of those games. THEY HAVENT MADE ME CRY! So I made this comment based on my experiences)

What a game! The story, the characters, the setting, the details, the action... Rockstar had outdone themselves with this one! Will be replaying this masterpiece for sure!
Tilly: "Hey Arthur, if I were to kill Ms. Grimshaw, would Dutch be mad?" Arthur: "Yeah, probably." Micah: *Kills Ms. Grimshaw* Dutch: *Sides with Micah*

Best game I ever played. I beat this game for the first time last night and I was finding myself tearing up at work today a couple of time thinking about the game. The action, adventure, friends that I made, people I’d saved and people who saved me, how flawed the characters were but they were trying to survive and be better people. I really tried to be a good person in this game and I made decisions based off of what I think I’d actually do in real life. I became like Arthur in my mind and how people treated Arthur in the game felt like a true of my own personality in real life. I have never felt like that playing a video game. Never. Maybe I’m just being too dramatic but I really love this game. I love it like it’s a valuable family heirloom. If I have kids, im going to tell them about it. Hopefully they’ll play it too and appreciate it as much as I do. I hope the people responsible for this game never lose that spark that inspired the creativity required for this work of art and I hope they make another and another. God bless, brothers and sisters. This is a great time to be alive.
I’m not really an emotional guy especially when it comes to games, but that little “thank you” to the horse at the end made me cry. Particularly because I went through the game using the first horse I bought in valentine. Damn this game was a rollercoaster.
Same bro I purposely didn’t buy a different horse and stayed with this one. So sad when it died. Just glad I got the honourable ending after helping John
no. in a movie there would be no honor system, no multiple endings, no immersion with shaving, bathing, eating, changing clothes based on temperature, etc...
Just finished it for a 2nd time and still hurts, as soon as he started telling Abigail Sadie and Jack goodbye I started crying cos I knew what was coming 🤧 One of my favourite games of all time!!! A true masterpiece, just like The Last Of Us, this needs to be made into a series! But ONLY if the cast is absolutely perfect, no changes needed, just so more people can witness the great storyline
And he didn't fully won, because on his last moments, Arthur planted the seeds of distrust in Dutch's head. It was only a matter of time before Dutch puts a bullet through Micah's chest.
@Karkat Vantas I love the ending because at face value it seems almost like the bad ending, but once you know the context it really is one of the best ending you can get
The fun thing about tuberculosis is that you can die of it and still not be infectious to others. Arthur's TB has progressed fast and he had several episodes of coughing up blood. This means that that his lungs could have still been in a decent shape, unlike his lungs' blood vessels. It's shown that he's pale (anemic) and can't eat (because this triggers his cough reflex).
I’ve played both endings, but saving John only seems right, like John says before *American Venom* “None of this would’ve happened without Arthur,”. That’s why I prefer helping John then going for the money, and being greedy.
I got the good ending with the sunset. And never thought id say this cause i loved john in the first, but i definitely grew to love arthur way more. Easily one of my favourite protagonists of all time in any game or movie.
Exactly how i felt, still love john ofc, but Arthur is honestly one of the most respectful and selfless characters in rockstar ever. With no Arthur we have no John. Also I thought killing Arthur made sense, especially as we got to see johns backstory in the epilogue aswell as in the chapters
@@leonardobrambilla9760 it depends on whether you have good honour or bad honour by the end of the game. And if you go back for the money or not. If you go for the money you get stabbed by micah. Good honour, good ending
@@Max-fu3hp absolutely. But it services the story. John ran and ran, but he eventually couldn't outrun his past and settle down at the same time. Arthur stopped running when he realised he was dying and could save others instead of just dying.
This is by far the best game , ever. It had everything, the emotions at the end of the game is something else . Your horse dying , Arthur saying goodbye, and then arther himself dying . The story , the characters, the graphics, its seamless. Its a must .
The simplicity of Arthur's death in the bad ending mirrors EXACTLY what Angelo Bronte meant. *"...you will die like nothing..."* Arthur dies like any crook with low honour. High honour and he earns a peaceful death as the sun rises.
The extra secret ending is Micah kills both Aurthor and John and the character you play after is Uncle the main objective is to cure his lumbago. I got the Uncle ending
the worst part was Arthur was loyal to Dutch since he was a teenager and Dutch basically spit on his face after all of it. Micah had only joined the gang a month before black water
This game is the GOAT!! I was lucky enough to have ended the game where he dies peacefully in the mountains as the Sun comes up. Arthur Morgan deserved it!! First thing I did as the Epilogue started was visit his grave and pay my respect!!
I didn’t even get the best horse, I got a horse that had low stats but could reach high, I wanted to work with him my entire play though and longer as I didn’t know he’d die, that horse got me through everything and I’d get annoyed when he’d jump for some reason, but my god when Arthur kneeled down and thanked his horse I cried so much, I pushed him so much and he gave it his all, just like Arthur did for his gang
I’m glad I was able to give Arthur a peaceful death with the stag and sunrise. I let him go as a good man who redeemed himself fully. So he can rest knowing he did good
The only fight Micah ever won was against a diying, beaten man with tuberculosis who somehow survived a ten meter fall and kept fighting for his life until TB got him on the ground.
As soon as he got diagnosed with TB by the doctor in saint denis the whole way through after that I kept doing the rest of the missions thinking shut the fuck up oh my god oh I’m hurtin Arthur yeah well I have fucking tuberculosis
I just finished this game for the 6th time! 10 out of 10! A masterpiece! I really liked how John had his happy ending with Abigail, their home, barn and family just like the first RDR but without him being killed! I hope there will be a next chapter in South America with Mrs. Sadie Adler as the main character! that would be awesome! Sadie was and will be the best female character ever that Rockstar games made!
Dakari Madison yes. The last ride. (Especially if your honor is high) it makes me cry like a baby. I’m about to replay the game and really take in the time with Arthur
Crazy how this game makes people actually feel attached to Arthur and his companions probably the only game/movie that made me feel that way. This game should be a movie
Nah, there's a reason it's so emotional. You spent 40-80 hours living in Arthur's shoes. Deciding what kind of man you think he should be. Experiencing his experiences. His failures and victories are yours as much as his. That kind of immursion can't be done in a 2 hour movie, and it won't appeal to everyone because it wouldn't be tailored to each person.
Halo 3 had me in tears knowing master Chief finished his mission and would float through space forever. until a rancid monster named 343 would parade his corpse for games to come :(
I’ve never been one to cry over video games, but this one, this game right here had me crying over my computer. Never while I was downloading it did I think I’d become so emotionally attached to video game characters. Good job Rockstar, definitely the best game I’ve played in a while!

Not sure how many of you did the side missions but I finished a string of stranger missions with a war veteran called Hamish Sinclair. Arthur and him became good friends - Arthur even wrote in his journal that he admires the man for his outlook on life. Now in the last mission Hamish is killed during a hunt, leaving Arthur his horse - Buell. Beautiful horse with great stats as well. Since Hamish gave him to me I rode him in his honor, and when Buell died at the very end, a token of the true friendship between Hamish and Arthur died with him. This game is the best.
Do you all know what is sad? The fact that Arthurs horse died an arthur just tried to give him some love or the fact that no matter what Arthur dies. This game really touched my heart I don't want to see Arthur suffering
when arthur stepped on his horse and rode down this empty road with this great music in the background, I just started crying, because I knew this beautiul game would come to an end soon
I still don't understand why people like this game, the story mode was so bad it made no sense, micah just came out of nowhere and became the villain there was literally no buildup to it, 70% of the game you're doing missions that don't add nothing to the story, dutch just keep making the same mistake over and over again, it's just a shitty storyline, the graphics were the only good thing about this game, so overrated.

One of my favorite games ever, immersive, beatiful and great dialouge. But never has I been so frustraded. The turning and missing interactive objects, the extremely small ignored gameplay details. Seriously, why can't i throw or store worn guns? Why did the camera target my friends in combat like I wanted to start the dialouge, had to turn the camera 180 degrees opposite way to bring aim up. The Horse doing random 360s. Horrible following and auto trail roads. Again, most minor stuff but I often found myself just freaking out like a second every now and then. Some stuff were just annoying, but plenty of that stuff. Controls and key mapping was abyssmal aswel. Still one of my favorite games ever. But it feels like an ex after I finished it, not a lost love.
Am I the only one who started playing differently when he got diagnosed? Like I kept my good honor but I made it higher, I cut his hair which I had been growing since the beginning of the game, I started doing more stranger missions and random events, and I started using cinematic camera any time I was riding because it fit the tone of the remainder of the game much better
Thats how i was playing the whole game but after he was diagnosed it really felt like it all meant it. And when I hit a point where my honor hit it's higheat it fely real good
Looking back, I did it without noticing. Brings up a good point though, you are viewing the game in a whole different light. Just as Arthur was taking on a whole different perspective of his life.

-Rxspxct My EWO ll- Arthur is by far the best man in the gang . He was the most skillful and before the sickness he was almost near immortal. He said old Arthur because before the tuberculosis the man could take on a whole gang by himself and could win every fist fight.
It pisses me off, all the good characters, who would've sided with Arthur, Hosea, Sean, Kieren, Lenny, and maybe Tralawny, all died, if Charles would've stayed just a bit more they could've won. I was annoyed with Javier too. I thought he was a good character, even though they saw that Dutch left him to die. It pisses me off, yet somehow I loved the ending, where Arthur passed his most prized things, his hat, his notebook, and his guns, we tied up loose ends with Arthur's horse, and if you had good honor like me, you got to see Arthur watch the sunset, in his last moments, with the eagle flying by. Such a bittersweet ending to one of the greatest characters in gaming history.
Dioming Javier only sides with Ditch cuz it to him is his only option once they break up Arthur is dead and John is moving with his family. He would be alone and helpless.
Lance Davies Javier has always been loyal to Dutch and Dutch alone since they both ran into each other stealing chickens at a farm. They became good friends and Dutch became a role model to young Javier who at the time didn’t know any English. Makes sense that he would side against Arthur. Not to mention the entire other game where he acts as a secondary antagonist. That information might also help a bit.

I agree it really is the true ending.
Arthur was a good man, he saved everyone when he couldn’t save himself. Can’t believe Dutch and a few others betrayed him. He was loyal til the end.

This game made me laugh and made me cry, because i really started to feel a bond with the characters. Besides i found the missions really fun something always went down in the missions that had impact on the crew or character. Thats why i cant aggree with you. But i respect your opinion man.
@@churumburum1838 For me, I agree the story is not that amazing, I see it keeps repeating. But I love the character development, when Arthur is trying to keep the gang safe, how he is trying to fix his mistakes from the past, sticking to his code to keep loyal.
@@churumburum1838 if you rushed through the missions I would agree with you 100% but I didn't though. I played the game within two years off and on and did a lot of roaming/messing around. The ending was sad
@@churumburum1838 because you didnt play rdr1 💀
They really made this game feel like a movie
Especially if you go back for the money with high honor.
A movie with good gameplay

I’m glad I got the ending where arthur dies staring into the horizon and John gets to kill Micah
That is the best ending by far
Toon Gohan I cried at that part because Arthur got his wish when he died
We all got to kill micah
Jayden Villanueva but did Micah kill Arthur in your ending?
How do you get that ending???
In the last Arthur Say "Thank You" to his horse that hit me on another level ❤
@@12378dnn get the fuck out my face cutting them fucking onions
I played the exact same way as u and it made the game a 10/10 for me because this is when I started my ‘redemption’ as did Arthur in the story. The game felt more real to me like that
Ingenious Genius I didn’t notice either until I started the epilogue but your right you definitely start to see the game differently
I love how Sadie was always there for all the members, just like Arthur. I was so happy seeing her survive.
I shipped them so hard HAHA
She is just female Arthur

If you had max honor the "true" ending is different than the one shown here. Micah doesn't shoot Arthur, and instead of a wolf on a rainy night you see a buck in the sunset/dawn.
That's the one I got. Best payoff EVER. For a few days after, I hated Rockstar for taking Arthur.
Thats the one i had that one is the most beautiful one hands down
OH So That's The One I Got...
🤔
I had that ending. It was so great to hear what Charles did with that small detail but it made all the difference for me
I was wondering why it wasn't included, definitely happy I got that honor bar full...
If your honor level is high, micah doesn’t shoot Arthur.
Micah wouldn't be standing on his legs if it was the old Arthur. Would've broke his face in 5 minutes.
Ajax Blair what do you mean old authur if he wasn’t sick pretty sure he would have went with John and live a happy life for the rest of his days instead he stayed because he knew he was gonna die soon might as well help one person escape
-Rxspxct My EWO ll- Arthur is by far the best man in the gang . He was the most skillful and before the sickness he was almost near immortal. He said old Arthur because before the tuberculosis the man could take on a whole gang by himself and could win every fist fight.
@@omarsilva1077 yeah I was about to say that. Thanks for the back up
Omar Silva he was the fastest gun, and the best man overall, but charles would man handle him in a fight.
@@onda_dr_quinn3942 how could Charles do that. Arthur beats up a man that looked tougher than both of them during a bar fight
I got the sunrise ending in arthur and im just happy that he could die peacefully
I think thats the best ending for arthur in my opinion
Same
So did i
That is the cast members favorite ending. If it is Roger Clark's favorite ending, it must be the canonical ending.
I died as the black wolf but i tried to be a better person towards the end of the game
I think it was sumset
Javier didn't know who to side with, that's why he never pointed his gun at Arthur and John.
Trelawny didn't die?
trelawny didn’t die he left the gang a few missions before the ending
Dioming
Javier only sides with Ditch cuz it to him is his only option once they break up Arthur is dead and John is moving with his family.
I love how in the 1st One Sadie comforts Abigail just as Abigail had in the beginning of the game
