Best block video ever. Only the essentials. At this point we know how to sew, I'm so glad you don't always waste time making us watch you sew. I'll watch many more of your videos! Thank you!
Wanting to sew something I decided to go thru my stash to see what I had. To my surprise I found a card trick baby quilt that I started 16 years ago for my grand-daughter when she was born (2007) but never finished. I thought I had thrown it out. I was so discouraged with it using the tradition method with triangles. I gave it another try now, but was still not having much success. I'm so happy to have found your tutorial. Needless to say, after watching your video Paulette, I started over using your method. I am so pleased to say that I have completed my granddaughter's baby quilt! Took me about 2 weeks off & on. I had enough of the original material to do so. I am so happy! I can't wait to give it to her (she will probably think I'm silly for giving her a baby quilt now!) Thank you so much for re-inspiring me! I learned how to sew when I was in grade 7 (I just turned 70). I sewed alot of clothing for myself, my mom and my children over time but never tackled a quilt until I tried this baby quilt years ago. Looking forward to trying another. Thank you Paulette. Diana K from Hampton, Ontario, Canada.
Thank you for sharing this card trick block. It’s on the todo list at our guild . But people said it was difficult. I’m going to surprise them with this variation.
I’m not a quilter, but I enjoy watching shows and videos of quilting. I’m always amazed at the way quilters manipulate the fabric to produce something that looks extremely complicated to do. This was fascinating.
I’ve always wanted to do a card trick quilt but thought it was too difficult….so didn’t try it. I think I will be able to do it now!!! Thank You, I appreciate the time you’ve taken to bring this video to us so we can try it.💙🏵💚
I've watched many videos claiming their way was easier. You have designed this block so it is easy to understand! I'm excited to get started on my card trick 💚
I love love love your methods of doing blocks. They make sense to me, much easier to obtain “precised” blocks and at the end, a beautiful quilt. Thank you much for sharing your talent and expertise. 🥰
Wow...awesome tutorial!! Yours is the best video that I've seen for making this block! I love your color choices. I can't wait to try to make this! Thank you!!
When you first showed the blocks at the beginning of your video, I thought it looks very complicated, so I was pleasantly surprised how easy the pattern actually is, thank you for sharing it with us subscribers.
Thank you for this video. I like your method better than using triangles. I was wanting to make the "Card Trick" block in an 8.5" unfinished size, so this worked perfectly for me. Exactly what I was looking for.
@@TulipSquare I did make a block just as you showed, and it turned out pretty good. I only started learning to use a sewing machine a year ago and I'm now working on my second quilt I've ever made. It's been quite an experience and I've learned that the seam ripper is my friend. haha I'm a 68 year old guy and this is all new to me, but it's been nice to learn how to make something I've admired my whole life. I had a Great Aunt who made quilts when I was a kid. She mostly sewed them by hand. But I remember some of the quilts she gave my family and many of them used pieces of clothing that we kids had out grown. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge. It's much appreciated.
@@jetmakr That's wonderful, so glad you've discovered the wonders of quilting! You might be happy to know that the seam ripper is a friend to ALL quilters, no matter how long we've been doing it. Many of us in the quilting community call him Jack (the ripper), so when we find our screw ups we say things like "Oops, guess I'll go hang out with Jack for a while!" Makes it sound a little less tedious. 😄
@@TulipSquare I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who has become cozy with the seam ripper. That's funny...Jack. I'll remember that. It's fun to pick up on little bits like that.

Thank you. Your presentation is so enjoyable and I like learning facts like making the 1 1/2" difference in the size of the block for cutting the triangles.

Thanks to all the commenters who add their valuable advice.
What a great way to make this block. I like the very simple way of cutting and sewing and I also like the corner colored squares. Thanks so much! Way back in the “olden days” when piecing was dine by hand, I did make this block and used partial seams which I had to figure out myself. Block turned out great - but piecing with just squares and rectangles is sooo much easier! I took screen shots on my iPad along with your sewing so I could actually remember the sizes to cut and how to put them all together!!!
Thank you! So glad you liked this method. Also, all the sizes are listed in the description box below the video, just click where it says "...more". 🌷💕
