Gladiator In The Big Hot Tub

- Lilli and I got a call for a jeep that had broken its steering knuckle up on Hells Revenge Trail in one of the Hot Tubs. We grabbed some parts and tools and headed out. It was a Saturday and Mike and Justin were out with friends and family doing a trail ride. They came across the broken jeep right before we got there. So they jumped in to help with the repairs and film. We got the jeep picked up and stabilized so we could do the repairs. Luckily it didn't break the knuckle it just pulled out the balljoints, so we pressed them back in and had it back together pretty quick. Then we pulled the jeep up and out. Since the abs sensor and the brake line had been damaged the lockers wouldn't work and he didn't have grwat brakes. So we hooked up to him and lowered him down the steep hills and pulled him up the other ones. We got them down to the trailhead and they brought a trailer back to haul it home. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

Mike does good work.
So does Rory.
You too Matt
The most sincere form of flattery is imitation...
Matt out here headhuntin!
I stopped watching when he brought on tom. Can`t stand that guy. jmo@@hines862009
Searching for pointers eh?
Just came back to finish watching this. 1.5 million views!
That is so awesome!
Often-Rory’s cool and calm demeanor makes these videos great.- stress does not seem to matter. Watching him pull out the adult voice and tell someone they are an idiot without using those words- priceless.
Ya, I'm usually pretty calm myself, but I would have had a hard time not losing my temper when somebody is shaking the truck I'm currently laying under.
I will openly admit, I would not have been near as kind! This is the part none of us really see when it comes to the Trail Mater team's recoveries / repairs. They are amazing at what they do, even when surrounded by an idiot or two.
In those situations sometimes you need to read the riot act. Being diplomatic doesn't always work but mass embarrassment will.
I didn't see your comment but just asked how he stays so calm.
@@Psyco913 absolutely. I would have turned the hot tub blue with every curse word I've ever learned.
Awesome rock crawling recovery. I think Rory's uniquely qualified to know when to say "stay off the big obstacles."
Think he was asking what he should upgrade to b able to do it
You are both correct. Rory is qualified to say when to stay off but also the guy was actually just asking what he could upgrade to be able to actually do them so it was sort of short and gatekeeper-y on Rory’s part by saying just stay off of them because people don’t know until they know- and if no one had upgraded anything until they knew what they were attempting wasn’t possible without modifying things then there would be no aftermarket or modifications anywhere - but also for as experienced as Rory is, maybe he got the feeling from a handful of things like making a vehicle shake around while someone’s under it for instance that even with the pocket to upgrade it some people still may not make the best situations out of some obstacles out there regardless of a rig that’s capable or not - but that also comes back to a guy can’t know until he learns so it’s sort of a stalemate there where I understand why he probably seems to have came off short and gatekeeper-y by saying it that way but also sort of understood why he did.
(He could have just followed up the guys question with something like - in this form or like it is currently stay off the big obstacles and X Y Z is what is done to most of the rigs you see around able to handle them so it was a learning opportunity for the guy asking what he needed and maybe would give some idea of everything that was changed, all the work that went into them, or was typically required other than factory)

"Just don't do the big obstacles"- kind of a dick response. Bummer.
Mad Max rescue..Give that man a mohawk and hand for job well done
"Stay off the big obstacles." I love it.
Translation is just go to the supermarket and mall only with this thing.
Tons and 40s then you can play in this Tub.
@@Iceman_777 that’s overkill, he could get by with BallJoint deletes and cv axles, doesn’t even have to be RCVs.
Crushed the owners ego!!!!😂
@jordantrujillo293 Hell Ya send it !
There's just something so strangely enjoyable about watching people work who know what they are doing and do it well.
👍 💯
are u moist?
I don’t even have an off-road vehicle but have become obsessed with these recovery videos! Love it!!
Yep, he just gets in their confidently and gets it done. Comes up with ideas, isn't sure they're going to work but just keeps pressing forward. That's the life of a mechanic. Constantly figure and s*** out. That's a good life skill
"Watching a master at his craft"
Hard to find a good mechanic in town, this guy found a excellent one middle of nowhere
The absolute power of TM pulling that Gladiator while barely ticking over, is a testament to a tried and tested recovery rig that yet has to be surpassed by anyone! Experience and mechanical symphony and sympathy all come together!
Beautiful thing indeed. We love our Big Block Chevy's!
That gladiator is a diesel. If the roles were reversed it could do the same
That look when they were shaking the truck.
Me : Rory do anything fun today
Rory : Ya I spent the afternoon in a Hot Tub with a Gladiator. 😮

Customer: Tears wheel off on an obstacle well off road... Rory: I can fix that and you'll drive out of here. A story repeated over and over, that never gets old. Amazing every time. I saw the intro - figured yep, taking TM to pick him up and take him out. Nope. Another great recovery in the record books.
There is only one Trail Mater, and the relationship between Rory and Mater is almost symbiotic. Great work as usual Gents, and of course, Lilly, the Boss.
The fact he drove out on 4 wheels is amazing, I thought for sure he'd be hauled out.
Rory you did a great service to those in need. I'm glad the Jeep didn't fall on you when someone moved it. Thanks for sharing and thank you Mike for making the call on your day off.
Rory is no doubt gifted ... what a great recovery !! Trailmater crew is the best in the business...
Mike, stepping in when needed, respect .
To be able to put that back together, from where it was, and basically drive it out of the bowl, Wow! Rory's ability to seem to know the problem because of what it is, before he really saw it, with some Mike input, and know that he can slap it back together and get it out, never ceases to amaze me.
👍👍
Easy peasy.
I really like how Mickey's Hot Tub is basically a perfect natural amphitheater for a large crowd to watch the Trail Mater crew repair and rescue yet another broken Jeep from the bottom.
I would say that those tubs are perfect natural amphitheatre for watching something else, but Rory is good guy and I don't want to spoil channel with being mean
Live audience for this one!
Amphitheater of destruction. 🤣
I like to have the money spent on destroyed rigs in 1 year in those tubs.
That's all jeeps do is break, even on the road.
@@frankcastle9691. I guess you’ve missed all the Toyotas they pull out of the desert too. There’s been lots. Stupid comment
Interesting to hear Rory get serious in a heartbeat when he was under that Jeep and someone started rocking it. It's all fun and games until s#it gets real. 👍
It is the absolute worst feeling when you're under a car and it starts moving, even just a little bit.
I would have quit working and left the idiots there.
I'm always amazed at how many dudes put big assed tires on their rigs without beefing up everything else in the drivetrain. You can't ignore the laws of physics.
That’s stock for many jeep packages
i saw a jeep wrangler in town with broken axle on the side of the road... Just a regular asphalt road but it had big ass tires. Prolly more than 35s.
@@urbanturbine 35s are "big ass" for any part of a wrangler
Good job Rory, and even on a day off!! Your awsumness never ceases to amaze me and all your true fans. Thanks Mike for giving Rory a hand on this repair and on your own play time
Another impossible looking repair and recovery from you guys! Kind of cool that you bumped into Mike and co right when they could help.
How can I keep this from happening? “ Stay off the big obstacles “. Mint!
This is exactly why I love older trucks n cars, a 4x4 badge does not mean you can go on every trail.
It… doesn’t? 😂
Wow, Rory and the team are definitely a Golden asset for keeping wheelers going after all kinds of breakage. Your videos are both entertaining and instructive. Please keep them coming.
Man oh man not fair Rory get all the fun easy jobs so he can keep showing how good he is when Lilly is around
She got a rocking dad
I love these trail fixes, Rory! What a fantastic channel!
Rory you seems to always find a way to get the job done even in sketchy places like the hot tub.
Lowering the jeep down the hills and pulling up was smart to make sure everyone is safe.
Gosh I love the sound of rubber barking on Moab rock.
No click bait in the Trail Mater video titles. Incredible work on this one. Not only does Rory do mechanic work in Mickey's to get the customer back on four wheels, he then turns Trail Mater into both a safety anchor and a tow rig to get the customer safely out.
Mike made sure that no thumbs were in harms way when he was swinging the hammer. Way for Mike to step in on his day off and help Rory with the repair work and video.
The latest two videos are among the best. Keep up the great work.
Yup Matt & His Click Baits Get OLD Real Quick And Make Em Look Stupid
I've turned wrenches and owned wreckers for 30yrs. I will say you are a badass and have my respect. Great work !!
great repair Rory. Nice to see Lilli again. What a darling! Nice having Mike around.
I just saw a clip of this thing breaking yesterday and thought that this would be a good job for Rory.
Me too😂
Someone posted it on one of the jeep facebook pages and I commented for them to call Trailmater. Lol
FINALLY! Thanks to Trailmater we get some ACTUAL offroad recovery on a TH-cam Sunday.
There is no denying it Rory and team are Kings of extreme off road recovery!!!👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Trailmater & Death-Star for the win. Great job guys and thank you for keeping everyone safe out there on the rugged trails of MOAB. peace ✌️ over and out!!!
So customer says"how keep that from happening". Dr. Rory says "don't do that."🙂
Exactly… like come on man 😂
You can't always spot the people that have never worked on a car, and especially under one in less than ideal conditions. But not with this video! It was easy to spot them! 😅
Love your straightforward response to how can I avoid this in the future? Stay off the difficult obstacles! Well done. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
It’s said that someone had to be told to not shake a truck on a jack. That’s something you learn the first time you jack something up.
Or lean on a vehicle that is jacked
JEEP, just empty every pocket taken to a whole nother level.
Stop shaking the truck I’m underneath it. Words you would think you would never have to actually tell people 🤦🏻♂️ awesome repair like always. Thanks for another great video
It was awesome that mike and his friend were there to lend Rory a hand. Thanks Mike.
These skills as a trail Mechanic is what makes you the BEST!
I love how Mike happened to be in the area and helped out. Its good to see a boss and employee relation so strong.
Rory you could have such a negative attitude dealing with folks being stupid. But you just keep on smiling and help folks get fixed in their worst situations.
No one does it better than Rory!
What a great recovery.. and fix the truck in the job..
We’ll done Rory.. your work is unmatched.. 👏🏼💯
I was just thinking you are braver than I am under that truck when you yelled stop shaking the truck!
Can be dangerous doing trail repair with too many people close to a rig....Almost need to settle that before even beginning the repair! Great job getting this fella out of a mess!!
Don't need to settle it. It's common sense. It's those idiot that are showing off on a stock mall crawler just because they installed big tires. Now they want to rock the jeep while Rory is under it. I would have told the sob. Get the fck off the jeep.
That 454 is the star of the show, damn what nice sounding engine.
That opening was just too funny!😆 good job, too bad there were so many ….. uh….”helpers” there to wiggle the truck and such!👍👍
Dont shake the truck! Rory's look made me sitting here watching, feel guilty.
Another good trail fix & recovery. People do like to keep you busy. Nice to see Lillie along again. Thanks for sharing.
I was glad to hear Rory tell who ever was shaking the Jeep too stop. That's scary being under a car with just a winch holding it.
I admire the tow truck driver / mechanic what a great attitude and a great guy.. you just showed your child how to be an awesome person❤❤❤😊
Great to have Mike & Justin "just show up:)"; I marvel at the miracles you an do even in the "tub". Fantastic video & recovery!!
I agree with the advice at 3:25 that staying off the big obstacles in stock form (esp with a truck full of gear and 4? people) will prevent that damage but I think the customer was asking for advice on upgrades. If that's the case RCVs/Chromos+Joints and maybe BJIs should significantly reduce the risk of breakage at the weakest links.
Excellent video and a very impressive repair in a complex recovery :)
This exactly! Another question is what is then needed to be capable of getting through that pit? I ask b/c I’ve seen a seemingly stock, prior body style RR, go down and up that same pit and do it flawlessly….
Many people in the trades can’t pass up an opportunity to dunk on their customers. Seen it hundreds of times. Whatever. Now I just smile and call their competitor next time.
Rory is the kind of friend you want when you play in Moab. He is a top tier bush mechanic with the tools and knowledge to get you out. Great job!
I have trouble in my garage working on cars. This guys knowledge of the terrain, angle…etc. He’s a BEAST.
I love trail Mator, that is one epic machine! The Owner is pretty cool 2!
I had a step daughter and 3 granddaughters who all loved off roading, they all own Jeeps today. Dad is doing a great job raising his little lady
That big block really makes easy work on pulling that Jeep out!
And that is why Rory is King of recovery in Moab
If you're gonna buy a 4x4, watch Rorys back catalogue of recoveries 👍
Then build yourself a Trail Mater. 😂
Superior catch of the moment that thing came apart. Good job Mike.
He probably thought there was a good chance that would happen.
I saw the reel of that jeep breaking in the hot tub and wondered if Rory would get the call to get them out. Awesome job and so glad Mike happened to be close by to help
Interestingly Mike goes to the one place TrailMater is bound to be sited.
Well that and the rockpeckers😅
Great recovery Rory, by the book called King of Moab.😂
Hi Lilly, you make me smile when your with Dad.😊
Amazing recovery Rory....pushin and pullin
Not to put a too fine a point on it, but Rory is simply the best at this kind of thing. Full stop.
Another example of having the right parts, the right tools, the right people all in the wrong place at the same time! Rory to the rescue.
Your ease at making seeming impossible situations look easy make watching your videos a true pleasure. You ALWAYS leave me with a smile. Thanks.
Great job Rory and Mike, It always amazes me when I see you fix jobs like this on the trail, The knowledge you guys have is awesome to me, Yes I could fix it in my garage but knowing what you can fix or not on a trail is a very underated skill. Kudos to Mike for dirting his going out clothes 👍😎.
That truck is a BEAST🤯🤯🤯
Was just thinking to myself how hectic it must be to lay under the truck, when Rory shouts shaking the truck with a very avoid look on his face
The very first funeral I ever attended as a child, was an uncle that got crushed by car when it fell off the Jack!
The winch line is holding that JT up but people should just stay away from rigs being worked on.
@@Bigdaddyslasherbecause winches can't fail and bottle Jack's can't slip off a round axle tube 🙄
Way to go, Rory and Mike
They could end his life or career if that jeep fell on him cause they are reaching and getting stuff in or out the jeep. Rories job is very hazardous. Stay safe Rory. Miss lilly needs you. 👍
Rory makes it look too easy! Just calmly solves complex problems and gets it done every time! I love watching him work!
"As usual, it's always a renewed pleasure to watch Rory work."
👍👍👍
Never take a break,
Never leave the boss hangin!
Nice job Mike and Justin!!!
Always impressed with the skill of both Rory and Mater! Mike, glad you happened by to lend a hand!
Trail Mater's "new" engine sounds real healthy.....👌
Rory and that truck are like the Swiss Army Knife of Moab!
At about 13:28 on a serious hill, stalled trailmater... restarted it, and as a standard transmission driver myself, I know that was one impressive move ! Rory, your skills are absolutely amazing ! Thank you for taking us along !

@@nocrackhere If you're gonna come on here and correct someone the least you can do is get it right. ... 13:07 is where it stalls
Good thing Lilly was keeping an eye on you boys. Nice trail fix. Each vehicle has its own weaknesses and Rory seems to know them all... and how to fix them.
Rory is the Zen Master of trail fixes.
I enjoy seeing people off road with the biggest tires they can fit, while running factory axles. I liked my 33s. Went most everywhere with little repairs.
I'm kicking myself I didn't get some gear when I saw you guys this weekend.
I also wish I would have gotten to talk to Rory and Shawn.
My uncle wanted to keep walking around and when I got back you all were gone.
I'll get it done next time though!
I love watching trail mater in action pure beast mode.
The info you shared with your customer is valuable to me. Thanks, Rory!
You saved his bacon! Thank you for sharing 👌 😊
I have been missing Lilli! So good to see her
👍 🇺🇸😉Mike U were
In the right place at
right time !
😂
I love how Rody and Mike stay with the customer until the job is completely done..
The best, best, best rescue/recovery I have ever seen. Rory to back up perfectly to lift the Jeep, Rory to masterfully pull the broken part into place, to have brought the parts for the Jeep repair, Rory to have all the tools to make the repair, and when I had to laugh was when Rory asked for the air line which Mike sent down to Rory, and when Mike pulled that air line back up and let the line retract into place.
Amazing and Rory then pulling the Jeep out of the hole; then pulling the Jeep wherever needed going out of the trails.
Just perfect the way each step went.
Impressive repair and recovery!! Nicely done.
I saw the damage video on instagram this week. Super cool to see you in there saving the day. I don’t think there’s anyone else who would have been willing to fix that thing down in the bowl like that. ❤
Nice of Mike to help out!
Trailmater! My favorite of the bunch!
Another great video of Rory and crew doing what they do so well . Several things alway stand out , Trailmater has been put together near perfect for the recoveries they do . I am super impressed with how Rory keeps the RPM down in most situations , relying on torque and gearing . I like how Mike was out trail riding and stepped right up to help . JR boss Lilly is awesome , not to mention just too cute . Keep the videos coming , they are always entertaining and often educational .
What would the Moab area do without Rory, Mike and Shawn? Another great recovery.
Man What A Bad Ass....That Tow Truck And Its Driver That One Ridge In Utah Mind Blowin....

I know these guys have faith in their equipment, but sliding under a vehicle on a flat even surface is one thing. Laying under a vehicle that slid into a rock bowl hanging by a tow line while wrenching on it...that's something else. Kudos to these guys, that's incredible work!
