    Lol why do people have a problem with the music?? Just lower the volume/mute it.
    I mean, I'd understand if someone was talking and there was loud music... But it's in text though lol

    What about non standard threads? With the spiral tool, and how to make them on conical?

    Tolerance - for desktop 3d printing, you are probably going to have to go in and hand edit the threads afterwards, to get threads that don't bind right up.
    Every printer/slicer combo will need its own tweeks.
    If your printer has built-in test prints, the list probably includes a nut and bolt - print these out and see how much slop was designed in, to get them to mate well.
    Add some slop, in other words. How round can your printer print, anyway?
    One gooched thread and you might have an inoperable piece.
    Good to have taps and dies to run the threads out.

    • @yony120
      @yony120 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can you safely use taps and dies on 3d printed parts without causing layer separation, for example?

    • @boldcautionproductions9203
      @boldcautionproductions9203 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@yony120 There's only trying and seeing. I find too much overthinking has diminishing returns with this type of thing. Not hard to give it a whirl. Probably quite a difference between just clearing cuts and full cuts.

      yup , some tolerances will work with 0.2 layer height and some will not , u must plan accordingly to how u going to print it

    So i have a question im trying to make a m8 bolt fit into a 3d printed m8 thread. But when i go to the bolts in 360 it doesnt fit. I printed anyways and yep doesnt fit. I dont get why? If the threads are for a m8 with every spec coppied from the bolt why is the hole too small in f360?

    • @techsweden3732
      @techsweden3732  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Maybe it's your tolerances. Try scaling it up by a few percent in Cura and print again

  • @underourrock
    @underourrock 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I wish you had shown how to increase the tolerance / gap of the fit. The defaults in fusion 360 do not print very well. Other techniques for making threads that don't use the built-in thread tool at least give you a little more control over the profile that is being cut.
    Maybe a separate video with a more advanced way. 3d Printing often needs more tolerance than milling or cnc lathe for example.

    Hi. I have a question. What the difference if we didn't select "modeled" when we make a thread hole? Thank you in advance. Regards.

    • @jamieewell9203
      @jamieewell9203 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you dont select modeled, it will only apply a texture instead of generating the threads. If you want the threads to stay when you export to an STL for a 3D print for example, modeled must be selected.

    • @kzalesak4
      @kzalesak4 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, the issue with 3D printing is shrinkage of bores and expansion of outer surfaces. The extent of this will depend on the printer, so you need to compensate based on your printer.

  • @codyhanthorn4270
    @codyhanthorn4270 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Try a 1/4-20...you can't common 1/4 -20. on 14 thread pitch.

  • @antoinefarjon5178
    @antoinefarjon5178 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    hello, why when I export my model in stl for 3D printing, the threads
    disappear ?

    • @DavidRamirez-xl9rk
      @DavidRamirez-xl9rk 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You probably forgot to hit modeled.

    • @crossthreadaeroindustries8554
      @crossthreadaeroindustries8554 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What David Ramirez said.
      The reason they have this is that the details of actually modeling the threads take up resources and can be slow.
      For standard threads, they don't have to be shown, just notated, so the CNC machine can cut, etc.

      This prints without supports. But the nut can't be the same size - it will never fit with a typical 3D printer - tolerances are not good enough. You'll need at least 1.5mm of slop.

      Sometimes you'll get dislikes on your video just because of music so I do suggest to keep the video silent, it will help keep the dislikes low and therefore keep your video ratings higher.
