    I had a customer told that we could do a 5 channel in their 19 f-150. I laughed when I saw an AP4 with that B&O speaker harness. My company doesn't carry NavTV. I would love if the sales people would watch these in their free time but, at least while they're at work

    Excellent video loved watching it even though I found out pretty early on this will not work for me as I want to keep my factory amp and just add a clean pre DSP factory amp RCA for a sub out. The factory sub is DSP and voltage limited as you increase volume very annoying.

    Man .. this video is awesome!! It also explains how & why these manufactures try to make things more difficult for you to put in aftermarket products, to force you to take your car to the dealership and charge you more money. You figured if you paid for a B&O upgraded radio you would not have problems with the APIM, DSP, GPS antenna, Speaker crackling, "No Audio" due to wires coming off speakers or a bad speaker signal". this is because everything is controlled by the amp digitally. In addition, they added the tweeter signal wire segregation to make you run more wires. -uggggggg

    I had one of the Gen1 ZEN units on my F150. Sounded great but unfortunately about half the time I would turn on the truck, I would have to unplug the ZEN unit and plug it back in in order for it to work. Also the chime was SUPER loud. I think the next rev of software made that adjustable, though.

    So all this is just to integrate into the Factory Radio? Is that what I'm understanding here? Why not just replace the radio that support iDatalink Port, and then install the amps?

    Can someone explain to me, like I'm a 2 year old, why the need for the pac aph-fd02 harness?
    Is it so you can just plug the factory speaker harness back into it and utilise the cars existing speaker wiring to connect the speaker outputs to the pac harness from the audiocontrol amps. And this would mean you do not have to run more speaker cable to each of the door speakers an splice in to the factory speaker wiring with the speaker wiring from the amps down near the front and rear door speakers to get signal to them?

    What are the differences between the audio control lc/d amps

    • @justinmurphy2227
      @justinmurphy2227 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The "D" series amps like the D-6.1200 (which I own) have a "D"SP, or Digital Sound Processor built in to them. The DSP section is very similar to the DM-608 standalone DSP.
      The "LC" amplifiers are just amplifiers....but with very nice features.

    • @justinmurphy2227
      @justinmurphy2227 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Real quick....
      The advantages of the DSP/Amp combos are....
      1.You save on interconnect aka RCA cables.
      Since the two boards are directly connected, you only need a source cable sending the audio signal from the audio's source to the AC unit. If you get the their BT-24 BlueTooth receiver that plugs directly in to the amp/DSP, you can use you phone or tablet to send audio directly to the AC piece. This allows you simply bypass the vehicles stock audio system entirely! I did a test and 8 people could not tell the difference between an RCA connection vs the BT connection! This also allows you to use the Android based tuning software for the DSP's section with the same phone or tablet but I really stress using the tablet because of the size of the adjustments. Average cable savings alone can be from several $100 to over $1k depending on the RCA's preferred.
      2.The direct connection of the signal processor board to amp board decrease chances of noise from entering the audio system.
      By removing ALL those RCA connections, a possible 6 pair of inputs and 8 pair of outputs, you are eliminating 28 possible point of failure and noise catchers (LOL)! That's a big deal....especially if you are not a DIY person and do not want to take it back to the shop....they can charge for troubleshooting after a certain time.
      3. Footprint and space savings
      By having two pieces of equipment that are close to the same size put into one unit, you can more easily find mounting areas. This also reduces labor costs if a shop is installing the system. You do not have to have a separate power, ground, and remote turn on ran for 2 units....just the one.
      4. Overall SQ (Sound Quality)
      It's very apparent that once all the above 3 items occur, that the overall quality of the audio played is increased vs 2 individual units, an amp(s) and DSP, when compared and evaluated. I had 5 people listen to before and after the two setups and they could hear a change. I did not have testing equipment at the time buy I'm looking forward to revisiting this part of the reason why. Hopefully soon.
      I hope this helps you make a better decision. There are several companies out there making 5 and 6 channel amp/DSP combos. Most, including the AC versions, have a set of full range DSP controlled outputs to hook to another outboard amp say for a more powerfull subwoofer setup or center/rear channel application. OMG! I almost forgot! The combined price of the 2 units are usually less than purchasing them separately!
      I just love helping out from my experiences.

      Is a d series amp type amp or a seperate dsp with an amp needed for installs using the nat tv unit or can you just go with a standard amp with no dsp?

    • @justinmurphy2227
      @justinmurphy2227 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rb25detMitch07 you can use it like a high to low lever device without a DSP is my understanding. It's just grabbing the signal from the factory systems head unit and giving the user an interface to use aftermarket equipment with.

    I have a 2019 f150 using zen a2b with a d-4.800. I'm getting very quiet constant static and engine / turbo noise. I have power and ground from the battery. Any idea on what could be causing it or possible trouble shooting I could do? I checked I get static with all rca unplugged so I don't think it's the zen a2b.

      Ford has terrible ground, cut the red and black wires on the zen harness and run them to your distribution blocks for the amps from the battery.
