New owner (Hybrid 2023) and dumping a load ($) into the truck thanks to your suggestions! Best vid I've seen - clear, linked, and to the point. Loved it!
I got a new one in 1983. I was 14 at the time. Absolutely loved it. I lived in a smaller city and it got me all over town for a dollars worth of gas. Wished I still had it.
I think you should start the adventure build. I purchased my 21’ V8 for the sole purpose of daily use and now I’m graduating to mild off-roading and overlanding. I’m around 30 mods to your 45 mainly from watching your videos, and my own as close to factory looking mod style. I have my Ryker 3 wheeler, Jet ski, and E-bikes that I use for adventure and next up is overlanding as I mentioned before. Thanks for all the insight and content. I’m ready to start the next adventure. Let’s go!
I really appreciate all the practical upgrades. Very well thought out build. I’m looking into a Powerboost model in the next few months and your build has given me lots of ideas!
I was stumbling across your video on my journey of understanding why pickup trucks are such a big thing in the US. Here in Germany we have mostly closed vehicles (no open bed) or much bigger trucks e.g 40t. Additionally, I think we have very few people here that would use their 'working vehicle' as their daily, thus there is very little extra comfort in commercial/construction vehicles. Interesting to see how many mods you put on there. You have a great sense for the right level of modification (not going completely over the top) and style/harmony I'd say.
Love this video. I'm currently looking into buying a Powerboost truck. Excellent job with the accessories and good choices. I don't normally find people that do the same accessories that I would choose, but you are right there with me.
Love this! Planning on grabbing a King Ranch Powerboost soon and need some extra toys on it. Appreciate you! PS.. am hoping to lease it and would love a video on accessories/ mods that are easily removable when I trade it back in.
Dan, great video, I really enjoyed watching. I’ve been following you for a couple of years now and remember all the issues you had to work through with this truck. I’ve owned my ‘22 PB, Lariat 502A now for 16 months and 40,000 kms. Absolutely love it and it’s been flawless. All the best and keep enjoying that beauty. Your positive video was very uplifting. Thanks!
Love that you didn’t do a light bar for additional flood lights. BUT, I’d love to see something bigger in the same location on the bumper, I think 3 yellow/amber RIGID lights (1 in each gap) would look awesome! Thinking about doing the same on my ‘22 Powerboost.
Good to know brother! I am still looking at a calender to see when that July Overlanding event can happen.... as I told you before a lot depends on when I can get my butt back from Montana lol.
Very nice mods man. Everyone has their own style and taste. Ty for the video. Gives me a good idea on what to expect on a few mods for my future ecoboost purchase.
Absolutely Amazing video Brother!!! I just ordered the OCD Screen Protector, while watching this, lol. I really love every mod that you have done and shared on here. Especially with the suspension, rims and tires. I hunt, fish, rough camp and my #1 Passion is the Outdoors & Nature. I am going to research your exact setup for Tires, rims and suspension to see if it is practical for me as well. I added the ditch lighting to my '19 f150 KR , adds a little extra light in the gap areas , also got the articulation mod so that when my mirrors fold the lights maintain the original aim point , it's sweet. Sounds like you should have bought the KR , cause a lot of your interior and exterior mods come as stock on the KR.
Hey brotha question for you! What are your thoughts on the AFE Momentum GT, I have a 23 Platinum PB BAP and absolutely love it, except a few build quality issues
I did the amp and speakers in my 2015. it will absolutely blow you out of the truck. recommend getting the wiring kit from Pac audio. It'll helps keep the factory chimes in place. you can get the line plug adapters from pac as well so you can send the audio signal to the aftermarket amp. but I think there is a way to do it through Forscan, at least in the older models, not sure about these new ones. I did the install myself not too bad. should be super easy for you since you already did the speakers.
Just a heads up on the potential stereo upgrade…. If you decide to add an amp/amps do not ground it back to the main battery. I know conventional thinking is always ground it to the battery but this did not work out well in my case. I made sure to route it extremely clean with no other wiring surrounding it using the kit from soundsgood stereo through the tub and down the frame rail being sure to avoid any of the high voltage lines in the truck. All was good until the truck went from electric to gas when I would get this awful electronic screech sound. Messed around for hours isolating it as best I could with no improvement. In the end I ended up grounding to the rear battery under back seat and all was well after that. Which was obviously much easier as well. I’m no electronics expert by any means but I’ve got to assume it picked it up from that high voltage control module or whatever it is that’s next to the battery. Also do yourself a huge favor and sound deaden the cab. Was a bit of a nightmare to do but in the end well worth it. I did the entire cab with the exception of the roof and it was night and day as far as cab noise, truck is so tight and not the slightest rattle anywhere. Yet another heads up I wouldn’t recommend changing the wiring because you have to do some serious digging to run new speaker wire for the front doors. Lotta stuff in the way in order to get to the door boots. Also not fun. Soundsgood stereo sells a nice amp rack for the truck that worked out slick for amps and crossovers. Seemed like a great company to work with. Good luck if you get after it.
Dan, great video here. Very helpful and spurs on a lot of ideas for me as I am buying a 2021 F150 Lariat in a couple of weeks. I liked the ideas you had on bolting down the heavier work items in the bed of the truck and I wanted to pick your brain on that thread. I use kettlebells a lot and transport them daily to workout. What ideas do you have on securing them in the bed of the truck? Would you be open to connecting outside of the TH-cam’s? Thanks in advance.
Appreciate it. That is a good question on kettlebells. Seems like something hard to secure but I would probably head in the direction of some kind of smaller (low sides) toolbox / container?
Two things, would you say you still need lineX even with the bedrug? And you prefer the rolling style X4S over the sliding or flip style? Any particular reason? Thanks!!!
How did you manage the air dam system failure warning after removing the air dam? Did you bypass it somehow? I’m definitely considering removing the one on my ‘22, but don’t want to deal with the recurring warning every time I drive it…
I actually didn’t get any air dam errors on the dash. It did throw a code but it was only visible if you used a code reader, never tripped any lights or messages on the dash
Great Vid! I just bought a 23 Tremor & I couldn’t agree more on the B.O system not nearly putting out its potential… how did the replacement speakers change it? Have you changed or added an amp? I don’t want to do very much but for an 18 speaker system it is not much different than my previous 16 platinums stock upgraded System. Any info would be helpful. 👍🏻
How difficult and technical was it changing the intercooler and valve? Is there any improvement to be expected with turbo lag? I have a ‘17 Lariat and the lag drives me crazy.
It's not horrible, however you have to remove the baffles around the active shutters. As well as you will have to relocate the speaker, or remove it completely. It was a little bit of a struggle getting the intercooler into position because it's a little bit tight, more so just laying on your back is a bit heavy and precarious to lift into position lift into position.
Do you still have the swing cases on your truck? If so could you do me a huge favor and measure between them when they are in the locked position? I have a 2023 f150 and I haul a large atv in the bed but I want to keep the boxes on while I haul it but I need 48 inches between them and no one can tell me that measurement so I’m not sure if I want to buy them without that info.
Thanks a bunch for the video. Just picked up a 2023 down here in Tucson. It's a platinum, a little snazzy for me, but super nice truck. Taking it to get Line-X next Thursday. Not sure if it's worth it, but I sure love it in my Jeep Gladiator. Although it is pretty grippy in the Gladiator. I saw a truck come in to the dealership in Tucson that had just been Line X'd for the dealer, and it was very slick. I wonder if Rhino is any more grippy?
Great video. One question. Is there anyway you could go through the process of removing the pedestrian sounder speaker? I see A LOT of f150 owners complaining about this sound, me being one of them. I have a Limited powerboost and for the amount of money it cost, I would hope that it would be Completely silent, but alas, it is not.... because of this speaker. I see the one sliver colored crossmember is moved out of the way on one end. Is that the only thing that has to be moved? Also, did you get any codes come up after removing the sounder speaker?
Wow, I’m inspired by the amount of attention you’ve put into your rig. When you’re ready to sell it let me know!! Also, could you comment on MPG with your mods?
Great video on upgrades !!!! i have same hybrid powerboost in a Platinum. The suspension upgrade I used the Falcon Sport / Tow Haul shock leveling system. Then I came back behind them with Ready Air Load Leveling Air Bag Kit for a 24' boat i have the combination is great. I was curious on your Backup ding / spaceship removal . How hard was it just unplug? And did it give you some kind of error in truck on startup. Thanks keep it up David
how did you mount the HXB LEDs to the bumper, did you just drill into the bottom of bumper and use the bracket to install? Or did you mount them to the plastic grill portion?
@@GearsGadgets Im going to install theses as well, but have the 5.0, so that bottom plastic is different. did you drill to the bottom of the grill? if so how did you attach there, can you share an image of that close up?
You should do an exterior chrome delete with white vinyl. The truck would look 100x better. Thanks for the vid! Will definitely be picking up a lot of these mods!
Not sure where you see that but I cross verified with the Bilstein website and it says they fit, I also did it lol. I think some website just say fitment with things aren’t verified with the PowerBoost because of all the high voltage wiring that runs through the vehicle. Seems more like a liability thing than fitment thing to me. There is a bit of a weight difference but only sprung weight and it’s minimal IMHO. I will say the 6112’s up front definitely have more weight on them because I had to up them 1 level to get the same lift as non PowerBoost trucks and it was a PITA to get the passenger side done around the high voltage. Nothing a little stubborn blood sweat blood can’t figure out though.
