B58 gang all day! Loved my 370z but for performance/money, the Supra is still currently king IMO. For $8k difference in cost, you can invest in mods and have a low 10 second Supra.
Great insight into the Nismo. You've also presented and spoke well in this video. Great work. I'm happy with my Z which is 2 months old. In Australia we get only one spec equiv to the Performance in the US and then the Nismo. Tbh I don't feel the Z is dated in the interior... I never experienced the previous gen Z's so I can't and won't comment that it's got old parts etc. The car is awesome to drive... I really wish it didn't redline at 6900rpm... needs a bit more in the auto. Look forward to watching more of your videos.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Some of what people would call as drawbacks are subjective. Yes for the price you can get a bit more modern tech but I personally prefer both the exterior and the mix of modern/vintage interior of the Z Nismo vs the other cars I considered. It was an easier choice to make since I got mine $3540 below MSRP.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed it truly is and I’m still not used to how much of a celebrity the car is on the road. Each day I drive there’s people that give it thumbs up, head nods, etc.
The Nissan looks a lot better visually. I don't care for all crazy curves in the body of the Supra and the nose just looks weird to me. I do like how the Supra goes into a comfort ride mode. If you you plan to tour that could be a big factor. The Z just looks perfect to me. Wish it had some of feature comforts for long drives on the highway.
Yeah the NIsmo does look great! For the money it should have a few features like the Supra. Would be nice to see it have adaptive suspension and more performance adjustments.
I love both but i cant f'ing see out of the Supra. Its so tight inside. The Z just feels better to sit in. Your Supra is beautiful with that Blue and black combo. Well done on the light mods.
I worked for Toyota as a Recon/new car manager and worked for Nissan 10 years. I have driven the Supra plenty of times. I do respect it's power, but I hate that I hit my head getting into it everytimee, haha. BUT, it's a BMW... if I was to go off overall reliability, I don't see the Supra holding up. There's a reason people usually lease their BMW. I totally frown on Toyota's lack of involvement on a car that had such a legacy in their development. They could have put more heart into it. With that said, my wife is a CFO at a Nissan dealerahip here in Atlanta. We have our eyes on the NISMO Z, and obviously aren't going to pay sticker price, BUT, I love that Nissan has put their own work into the Z. It's Nissan's creation...not another manufacturer. The only thing Toyota truly had their hands on, was the suspension. I like the Z's old school touches... they wanted to incorporate the classic touches. Honestly, Nissan makes a great product, as long as they keep the CVT transmissions off their engines (the 2.5L was a joke, though)... but, they have removed CVT from their lineup, and they are making a new name for themselves. I currently have a Rock Creek Pathfinder as my daily with a 9 speed.... I love it. I personally would/will pick the NISMO Z because it's fully engineered by Nissan and not BMW. With that said, my buddy has a track only Supra, and he loves it (and it's impressive)... so at this point, choose what you will. I feel like the extra $8k comes from actually developing a car, rather than throwing a body on a BMW Z4, wiping your hands and walking away. I'll pay for Nissan tech over BMW anyday. 10+ years from now, the Z will hold it's value and life, guaranteed.
I guess we'll see. As of now people are already buying the Nismo Z for $3k under MSRP. The Surpas seem to hold value. My manual Supra is worth more than I paid. Seems like Z's are sitting on lots tho. Nismo Z is a blast, but it will drop in value. Even my old 206 Nismo 370Z. Original owner paid $46k. I bought it from him 8 months later for $35k with 8k miles. Also BMW is actually in the top 10 in reliability the last few years.
Yeah everyone thought the Z would be a solid comparison for less money. But it just lacked everything. Nismo is at least a fantastic car. just too expensive for some reason
I had a 2016 GTR, honestly it was not as great as people think it is. If driven in normal mode it shifts to 6 gear at 35 mph. It was fast but kind of boring, little steering feel. The quality wasn’t the best either the radio broke and froze when I plugged a dash cam into the USB port, under warranty the head unit was replaced, would of cost a ton if warranty was over. Also the front axles or some part forgot which needed to be replaced u dear warranty and the car was a year old.
I was kind of shocked the other day when I saw the previous version Nismo and realized it looks better than this one. Still, has no adaptive suspension, power seats, or leather that the competition has.
I did love how my 2016 Nismo 370Z looked. Great car! But this is a fun to drive car. I don't mind the manual seats. Would much rather have manual bucket seats over standard seats. Supra also has fake leather. But the lack of adaptive suspension and steering would be a nice thing to have for the price
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Dude checkout car and drivers lightning lap - the nismo cooked the rear diff fluid on track.... Nissan just REFUSES to fix cooling issues...everything has to go aftermarket - good if you enjoy working on things / bad if you're looking at that $68k price going WTF?! Z1 to the rescue
The b58 and zf trans alone makes the supra superior. The nismo z is basically a red sport q60. No offense to my Infiniti/nissan owners but that vr30 is no where near the drivetrain of the supra
Yeah these are solid drivetrains in the Supra! Hard to beat! The Z makes great power and is easier to tune. And the 9 speed is tuned way better than before. But Supra has a great setup!
My guy the vr30 can achieve 750whp on stock internals and stock trans. The b58 can achieve 800whp but you’ll need a 10k trans upgrade to do that, 720whp is the max on stock trans for any b58 platform. And by the way on stock turbo the vr30 has done 60-130 in 6.7 seconds literally just as capable on stock internals and stock turbo, only losses due to weight. And built for built the vr30 wins all day, it revs higher letting it achieve more horsepower. The vr30 is just gaining support and this is the year it breaks records.
@@2seep No a B58 can't do 800whp on a stock motor. I think the most is like 650whp and that's pushing it. You gonna need to build the motor if you want 800whp plus. Also the B58 and VR30 both have a 7k redline. So no the VR30 doesn't rev higher. Both make peak hp around 6k rpm and drop off power closing on redline. B58 makes more low end torque though.
Agreed. The vr30 has a lot of potentialbsince it shares design elements with the vr38 which is making over 4000 hp. No b58 can come close. In addition, the v6 configuration allows the blockbto be bored and sleeved and stroked to a potential 3.8 liter configuration, giving the vr30 a higher hp overhead. The nismo z would be my choice since the transmission in it can holdmore power than a stock zf transmission. Furthermore, I also like the steering feeling the nismo more than the supra. The supra steering felt more artificial than the nismo. My take after driving both will be the nismo auto for me because ofvthe better steering feel and making and putting big hp to the ground. @2seep
The M2 is waaaaay more than the Nismo in Australia... about $30kAUD. The M240i XDrive which was my other choice went up in price about $14kAUD when I wanted to order it so I went for the Performance Z. Better choice, I didn't need another refined German car.
I saw the new Z (wasnt the Nismo) in person for the first time the other day, and it looks a lot better in person than it does in videos. I underrated it, but I still like the Supra in the looks dept. Hoping to get a manual Supra at some point here in the next few years, all around I think its the better car.
100% agree that the Z is dated... One of the reasons you buy a new car is for the new features. The price doesn't match what you are getting as far as "new" features. Lol.
@@JAnx01 yeah, that description was super vague. Sorry. One of the main reasons you buy a new car is for new features. The issue with the new Z is that it has the engine from an Infiniti, the same seats, doors, and trunk from the 370z, so it doesn't seem like it should cost twice the price of a brand new 370z since they are reusing a lot of parts...
@@zresurrectedwon The trunk door looks different. As of for the other stuff, who cares? I didn't even know the doors are from the 370Z. Only about 20% of the parts are carried over iirc. That's good enough for me and a smart way of engineering a car. For example, the suspension was already double-wishbone. There's not much to improve there. By reusing it, it's less of a headache to get spare parts. The only reason this car is expensive is because it's a Nismo product. But the base Z is good enough, reasonably priced and all it needs is stiffer springs.
Loved the video. I just wish there was a drag race, that would've been icing on the cake!! Regardless, I must ask; if Z Nismo and Supra did a race (rolling) which car do you think will take it?
Supra is faster in a line. Not able to race two cars at once since it's just me filming lol. However Nissan owns this Z. I don't think it would fly if I raced their car
If you’ve ever driven them or been inside them; there’s no comparison, hence the price difference. The Nismo Z doesn’t count, it’s the worst buy on the market, the regular Z Performance is like 40k. The Supra is 60k. When you look at it like the Z is 20 grand cheaper it can be considered a good value and a neat little platform. Ignoring the price, there’s no comparison, the Supra is a better vehicle in general, at everything, it’s a better chassis, it’s a better engine, it’s a better interior and exterior, it’s better quality components. It’s not even close and I love the Z. The nismo makes no sense whatsoever, you’re talking about 5 grand more than an M2 and encroaching on M3 territory for that kind of money that’s literally the stupidest car buy you could possibly make considering you can get 99.9% of the car for 40k.
I purchased a 2024 Nismo Z a couple of months ago, and yes, it is definitely more expensive compared to the Supra. But what's $8 grand when it comes to having what you absolutely want, right? Even though the Z isn't as refined as the Supra (interior), I truly loved the sports car feel and classic look of the Nismo Z. Yes, some of the interior bits are cheaper quality, but the retro look of the Nismo, along with the Recaro buckets seats adds to the flavor of the Z and truly defines the essence of what a sports car should be. Thanks for the great content.
Oh it's a great car for sure! Supra is a better value. But at this price point, yeah the price different really doesn't make a difference. Especially if you don't care about the refinement level and features in the Supra. Nismo is a great choice overall and I really enjoyed having it for the week
Yeah both are a ton of fun! Just when it comes to price. Hard to spend nearly $70k on the Z when the Supra actually has more features for low $60k range. If they were the same price, It'd be a dead tie
Growing up in the era of the old Supra versus 300Z. That was a lot different than comparing these two. The Supra is nice for someone who's new to the game and just wants to have a cool car that goes fast. Its no evolution of the 2JZ. There's something about the Z car staying true to its roots and being built in house. Everything about that super screams BMW so why not buy any M2 instead. Respect to Nissan and the Z car. Not to mention the GTR, which for slightly more you can pick up a used one that would destroy both. Toyota was smart w/ the gt86 & supra. But to me they have a little bit of * from factory
Yeah both cars have a lot going for them. Nismo was some fun. But still hard to justify the price when the Supra has more to offer. We'll see how the used market treats the Nismo. Supra's hold value pretty well
That 65k supra is all cosmetic and doesn't add anything performance, the supra also has better tech like hud, adaptive suspension and power seats at a cheaper price
I literally mentioned that in the beginning of the video. The 2024 special addition costs $66k. The 45th Anniversary edition is just a sticker on the side and a spoiler. It’s not mechanically different from the 3.0 Premium. The Nismo is significantly different mechanically then the Z Performance. So like I mentioned in the video, while there is a more expensive Supra, it’s the exact same car as the normal 3.0 cars for under $60
Actually the Nissan Z has about 50% manual sales. Same for the 2023 Supra. So Nissan has sold just as many manual Z's as automatics. Not sure why they actually did the Nismo only auto. Doesn't make sense.
My plan: Z1 supercharge the 370z / park it... and try to find a daily for $10k that can do occasional gravel roads... I just cannot see blowing $65k on any newer car, and if I was going to - it would be M240i xdrive... Now can I get me some of those Nismo seats in my 370z!?
I love the new Nismo Z, but for those $65k+ price tags new/used, I’d much rather get a slightly used Performance Z for $48-50k, and use that extra money to mod it better.
Yeah I just don't see the price point. I spec'd a BMW M2 for less money then the Nismo. Just wish the whole Z line was $10k cheaper. Then it'd make sense!
@@Soul_Flow_my man Nissan has produced engines far superior than anything bmw has, they just have a tend to overprice things now since their ceo has changed. The z base z modified correctly can do 60-130 in 6.7 seconds on stock turbos. Z nismo is overpriced tho.
Offtopic but I had placed a deposit down for a Supra back in November and then asked for a refund and got me a barely used 3lt 2021 corvette with z51 package, and i have 0 regrets
Where df can i get the nismo without the shitty ass mark up on god im stuck with a 2.0 supra paying 1100 cuz they wanna charge 60k for a normal ass z and now 100k for a nismo? Do i gotta stalk carmax and their shitty non-negotiable prices for this car?
@overv434 I expect more from the nismo because it costs more than the supra, and it was released way after the supra. I had a 370z for years, and I liked it, but The new z is actually a disappointment.
Two great cars, I would have a blast with either one of them. I just don’t see paying 8k more for the Nissan because these cars are so similar. I think I would lean towards the Supra. Good video! 👍
As a former Supra owner that’s regretting having sold it. I am considering buying another one, but there are not a lot of new ones for sale and the news ones for sale mostly have markups which I refuse to pay. I have been starting to look at the Z NIsmo and see that pricing is all over, from $1k under MSRP to well over MSRP. That being said, it’s hard to pay close to $70k for a NIssan that is not a pre-owned GT-R.
Oh wow. I got my manual Supra for MSRP. There's good dealers out there! But I've heard people paying over for the NIsmo and also a few grand under. I sold my GTR for $75 last year. Hard to not want that lol. Or a brand new M2. I wish Nissan priced the Nismo closer to the Supra. Its a fun car tho regardless
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I did find a black on black MT selling very close to MSRP (they added like a $300 “protection coating”), however it also has those $900 CF mirrors I can do without. I feel like the actual price difference isn’t as much as it should be between these two cars. Since I’m not in a hurry, I might wait a couple months and then see if the Nissan dealers can take an extra $1k-$2k off their listed price for the Nismo. Interest rates aren’t going down anytime soon.
You can get a 3.0 Supra for under $60k. The 'base' trim pretty much has the same things as a Premium and if you add drivers assistance it has Nav and everything for under $60k. My Supra was $59k
Not sure why car reviewers constantly bring up the “370z dated interior” sure there’s some parts carryover but I’ve sat in MANY a Nissan 370z and to me this looks totally different especially in the dash which comprises of a huge portion of the interior (at least what matter) the 370z had analogue gauges and the whole center area is completely different, as is the whole center console. 🤷♂️
Have you sat in the new Z? The gauge cluster, steering wheel and infotainment screen is the only difference from the 370Z. Same door panel, climate controls, center tunnel, roof panel, trunk. For a near $70k car, you'd think it would have a new interior and nicer materials then what the 370 had back in 2009. NIsmo is some fun, but it's totally a 370Z with a new dash and engine for more money then a BMW M2 which is an amazing car all around
Better value, but it's a bmw (which matters, not everyone wants a BMW when buying a Toyota). The "Supra" is just cringe...in alot of ways. Not saying it isn't fun to drive, or fast. But there are alot of cars that are
Yeah not everyone will come on board for the Supra with the BMW aspects. But to me, it's why the Supra is so good. I don't think Toyota would have pulled off a car as good as this without the BMW engine and refinements.
People like yourself can't grasp how refined, and well engineered the Supra is all thanks to BMW! B58 is an incredible engine matched with that ZF8 tranny! If you drove the new Supra, you'd understand lol
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I disagree. I think the Z is better as a road car. Better-looking, better manual transmission, and it's cheaper. The difference in performance is insignificant on the street. Plus there's the scarcity factor. Nissan is only building about 100 Zs per month. There have only been about 2500 built so far. That should keep the value up. Obviously the looks discussion is subjective, but I think the Z is much better-looking than the Supra. The Z is a beautiful car. The Supra certainly looks sporty, but it's not beautiful. It's the mongrel creation of 2 huge companies looking to cash in. The Z is clearly a labor of love, and celebration of 50+ years of internal combustion Z cars. Judging cars strictly by the numbers really only makes sense if we're looking at them for track use.
@@hartsickdisciple Have you driven them back to back? The manual Supra is significantly better than the manual in the Z. Also most buyers, the $5k increase in price to the Supra isn’t enough to make a difference. I was planning to buy the Z Performance. Canceled my order for the manual Supra. Much better. More refined car. More comfortable too. Supra handles better too and has smoother power delivery
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Yes, I've driven them. I also used to own an m240i with the ZF 6-speed manual, which is the same basic transmission (and engine) in the Supra. The changed the shift linkage in the Supra version so it has a different feel. You say that the manual in the Supra is "better." What are you basing that on? Feel? Personal preference? I'm talking about the mechanicals and durability of the transmissions. The 6-speed manual in the Z is a revised version of the one from the 350 and 370z. That transmission has become pretty legendary in the JDM world. It's basically the Japanese T56. There are cars running 9 second 1/4 miles on that stock transmission. If you're doing a manual transmission swap on a JDM car, that's the one you use. It's a beast. I'm not denying that the Supra is more refined, but the gap isn't that wide. It's a BMW, after all. It should be refined. Refinement isn't high on my list of priorities for a 2-seater sports car. The price difference is variable. $5k is a big difference. That's almost 10% of the price of the car. Not to mention that the manual version of the Supra is often more than $5k more expensive than the manual Z. If you like the power delivery of the Supra better, that's your preference. The B58 and VR30 are both very solid engines with smooth power delivery. I have a lot of experience with both. They're both great. I think when we look back on this comparison in 5-10 years, nobody is going to care about the Supra being a few tenths of a second quicker 0-60, or a couple seconds faster around a track. They're going to see a BMW with a Toyota badge versus a real JDM car that was built in lower numbers.
Was going to buy a Supra and then looked at a nismo Z. Supra was a better car for less money. Than I drove a CPO 2LT Z51 C8 and decided the C8 was SUPERIOR to either one of these! Bought the C8 and boy was it worth it! Stock vs stock, Supra and the Z get smashed in every aspect vs the C8.
I would agree if you could get the C8 for the same price, but aren't they like 70k starting out and with decent options pushing 80? A bit out of my and most average person's price range. I wanted to like the new Z too, but just too boring and outdated. The Nismo is better, but again not at that price. The Supra is really a no-brainer imo as it has an awesome engine and is easy to mod, but not sure I want to drive something that looks like a race car all the time and it has some quirks like no ventilated seats and limited colors and options. I like my 21 Challenger 1320, but if I were to ever trade it in, I think I would go with something like the BMW m240i xdrive since it has the added benefit of awd for the winter months.
@@Mrbobcat7 here in So Cal, dealers are asking up to $30k mark up on a Nissmo Z! They want $90 - $95K!!! wouldn't even pay $65k IMO. The Supra is awesome but an A90 Supra or a CPO C8 2lt and up is just a much better car in every aspect. IMO. I was REALLY close to buying the Supra, but what you get in the C8 was too much to pass up! Stock vs stock you will not get more bang for the buck than a Corvette.
Totally numb steering on the Z, slow turn in for a 'sports car'. Drove one. Looks nice. Might as well just buy a BMW 3 or even a Mazda 3, more practical.
NISMO all the way! Supra has a BMW engine and parts. I’m not too fond of the NISMO interior. NISMO does make manual because I saw one at one of the dealerships. A sports car isn’t a sports car without manual in my opinion. It would be cool if the NISMO made a moonroof or convertible model. I wish someday to have a NISMO but would rather have a GTR.
There is no Nismo Z in a manual. The 370Z Nismo had a manual. But not the new 2024 Nismo. It's a fun car, but the Supra is a lot less $$ and is just as fun with more features.
Yeah it's got a more spacious feeling cabin for sure. But the Supra has more leg room actually. In the normal Z, my legs feel very cramp. The Recaro seats are awesome and help support your legs and makes it more comfortable
This was informative and a good review. I find it hard to understand if there is a non-bias review, as the reviewer stated he has owned the Supra for a number of years and moved to the new one. He keeps saying my car. I like the reviews when neither car owned and the reviewer is a pure reviewer. Good job thou.
I said my car because the supra is "my car"...I own the blue supra... but that doesn't mean it's a biased review...I've been able to drive multiple Z's as we have had 4 or 5 as press vehicles, so i have a lot of experience with both. Just because a vehicle is owned, doesn't mean it's not a "pure" review... most people really like the fact of actual experience rather than just guessing or stating information that might be incorrect.
@ all I was trying to do is help by explaining that referring the product you are reviewing should come across as non bias and when you refer to one of the products as my or mine it can come across as adding a level of bias. It was an observation and you seem to take offense by wanting to dig deeper. It is a simple response. I thought I state it was a good review. I love both cars if that helps. And I think you were fair.
One point that no one is talking about is that the supra is like being in a coffin. There is not much room, it just seems dark and feels cramped. Im a supra guy with an athletic build, its tight and visibility is not great. The Nissan has more air space if that makes sense. You feel like there is more room in the Nissan. So if your claustrophobic you might want to take that into consideration.
That'll definitely be personal preference. I fit very well in the Supra and feel so comfortable. The normal Z I feel like I'm on top of the seat. I'm very uncomfortable in that car. The buckets make the Nismo feel very comfortable too tho. But the larger windows in the Z does help to give it a more open feeling
The Z has maybe the worst suspension setup of any 2 door sports car on the market. “Stiff” on a perfectly paved road does not somehow equate to “better”. It feels stiff on your perfectly maintained newly paved road, that’s a bad thing,
Honestly it road nice to me on all our roads. I like how it felt. Still should be adaptive for the price point tho since every other car close to this has that available
What os crazy is the supra is collapsing in sales and the z is out performing it i know it has mlre hp but the supra is nicer mlre mlds stick shift. Z has 400 hp twin turbo v6 that part is cool upgrade th turbow but th3 supra is lile 12.8 on quarter mile z is 13.5
Really tho? I hardly ever see the Nissan Z. I don't think they are selling all too well. Supra still sells pretty good and is much more popular it seems
My 370Z is good enough for me I don’t need a super car at my age I just needed a car to replace my e46 bmw that just was staying in garage more than the road and seems all I did was work on her she was 24 years old gave it to younger son told him to sell it or trade it for him another build he builds cars not me anymore plus I have a Toyota Tacoma four door truck 4x4 I just bought not long ago.
Our dealers don't have markups. Filmed one at a Nissan dealer a few months ago for MSRP. These cars aren't selling and have such little demand, you can buy one at MSRP all day long. People are even getting discounts now on the Nismo
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I guess it depends which state you're in. Here in Bellevue, WA. the markup is just too much for a Supra or a Z. The dealers very often turn down offers at list or even slightly more than list.
Nissan has failed with the new Z. Lazy design and mechanical bits. It looks like the old Nismo on the inside. Too heavy and way, way too pricey. I love the Z car. I had a 240Z, 350 Z, and a 09 Nismo but this one I couldn’t get it for the price and the performance. The Supra beats it all categories. I just don’t understand why the Z is that expensive. Toyota rates wheel HP not crank HP.
Not a bad way to think about it. But a BMW is still one of the best sportscar. And the Supra has just as much Toyota in it as it does BMW. Amazing car for a lower price
No it isn't. Supra 3.0 costs around $57-$61k. The 45th Anniversary trim is that much. But thats a sticker and a spoiler. It's not mechanically different in anyway than the Premium 3.0. It's literally a decal on the door and a spoiler. The NIsmo is mechanically different than the Z Performance. I even said in the video that the 45th Anniversary doesn't count since its no different than the normal 3.0. Nismo is a big chunk more then the Supra for no reason
@@SkyHighTy-z8l The $66k Supra is just an appearance package tho. Just like how the Proto Spec Z had an MSRP of like $80k. The Proto Spec is yellow based off a Z performance. And the 45th Anniversary is based on a 3.0 premium. Either cars offers anything aside from a slight change in appearance. Plus these types of appearance package trims are limited production. Not worth using them as a cost comparison since they offer zero driving upgrades.
Ok dude, you keep saying that the Nismo Z is based on a dated 370Z, but what about the 'bmw' Supra it's based on the bmw Z4 which has been in production since model year 2003. The Nissan 370Z was introduced to USA market in 2009. I think you need to go back to basic math school.
Actually the current Z4 is a new platform form 2019. SO the Supra is a much newer car. The Z shoes so many things from the 370 that you can't even hid. The trunk is identical. The door panels and overall interior are nearly the same. The chases itself dates to the 350Z. The Z4/Supra is a much newer car. The Current Z4 is not the same as the generation before it. The Nissan Z is a much more unchanged platform. Regardless the new Supra is a much better car then any Z no matter how you look at it
I don't like neither one of them I would not buy a car with turbo does super with a BMW motor and BMW don't make good motors I'm going to stick with my 2020 370Z NISMO tech
Since when? Other than the VR38 nissan has, the VR30s a whole 180 and has issues all on its own even stock. My friend even had one and got rid of it for how much the turbos went out along with the trans issues it had also.
The BMW B58 is one of the best and most reliable engines on the market. Can reliably make over 700 HP. 370z engine is pretty solid too but the new Z engine isn't as good. I had a 2016 Nismo and loved it! But the new Supra is definitley a huge step up, especially with a manual
Nothing to get wrong...Both are great one is a bit faster and handles a bit better than the other. I like the looks of the Z far better but that is subjective as some prefer the look of the Supra
I've only seen reviews of people saying the opposite. However I'd say they are equally as fun. I do like the seats better in the Z. But the Supra still has better transmissions. Toss up
I genuinely still think Nissan is better than Toyota even though the b58 in the supra might pack a punch its still a BMW in a Toyota body which is honestly just a turnoff, also with other Toyota models they are just falling off with reliability and good prices and i just cant forgive them for making the tundra V6, Tacoma a i-4 and a gr corolla 40k, also they did literally no changes with the 86 except make it a economy car.
The Supra tho, has always been a very reliable car tho and holds good value. The BMW integration is why it's so good in performance and features and does have rock solid quality compared to genuine Toyotas these days. Z depreciates very bad right now. So the market is showing the Supra is far superior
@@BrosFOURRSpeed and still has been the GTR taillight inspector since the 90s you would think they wouldn't take this long to make a MK5 but when they finally did its just a Z4? Ironically the Z4 is cheaper, even with Lexus and the steering wheels/interiors they could've changed that and not use the same engines since 2006 their even struggling to sell the LC500 because its overpriced and heavy and really a ripoff when a C8 is cheaper and faster. Its just said with all the bags Toyota fumbled and having "Reliability" and "MPG" their entire career, having all this hype especially its crazy that there's really people that still think Lexus is on the same boat as Mercedes, Cadillac and other things that are worth money but hey the Toyota fanbase go crazy.
@@koranadams9992 keep in mind the R35 GTR costs $115,000. Supra costs $60,000. GTR has 545 HP vs 380 HP in the Supra. Not sure why people think it makes sense to compare these as direct competitors. They are not direct competitor cars at all. Supra is a blast of a car and is way better than the Nissan Z and not that much below the R35 to be honest. Here’s my video comparing my GTR to the Supra.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed because the GTR represents Japan's name well not a BMW/ economy car and i would get a older gtr because alot of them are under 80k and its not even the fact the supra is a bmw its also the fact the interior is cramped and small😂😂😂 .
I would take the Nissan over the bmw. Nismo will be offered in ta manual next year. To be honest, I’d take the hydraulic steering on the 370z over either these two. You refer to the 370z as “dated”.. there’s dated and there’s just plan better.
Hopefully they do a manual Nismo. Supra and NIsmo steer about the same from my feeling. Both are great, just wish the Nismo was better priced. And a lot of the interior is 370z which is from 2009. Supra is much more refined and newer
@@BrosFOURRSpeedit’s not even a Toyota bro chill out, I have one and it’s nice but remember it’s a bmw at the end of the day, Nissan really just smacked Toyota in their face cause they just put them on blast like “ hey look at us we made our own z with nobody’s help😂🫵🏼” it’s not even a Toyota quality interior, compare it to their only legit Toyota GR car which is a Corolla 4cylinder or a Yaris, that’s freakin sad, I like the Supra but Z is more better.
@@Geor_546 Yes it’s cool Nissan made their own car. But it’s using a multi decade year old platform and fundamentally isn’t much different then a 370Z. Supra is a BMW, and is a lot nicer overall. Why do you think the Supra has sold pretty good overall and the Z sits on dealer lots with discounts to sell? Both are fun cars but the Supra takes the win. Everyone who’s driven both pretty much agrees. Z needs to be much cheaper to it to feel worth the price
@@BrosFOURRSpeed honestly your right, yes Supra has a nice “bmw” interior and not a Toyota interior , but honestly if I can go back, I rather have the nismo z for reliability instead of having plastic caps all over the place in the engine.
If you would pay 68 grand for a Nissan Z.. you need to reevaluate your life. The cars you can get for 68k or less make that purchase literally insane to make. Save 8 grand and buy a car that’s better at virtually everything with the Supra. It’s a better car, it’s better looking, it’s faster, it’s better equipped, more premium components, a better engine, it handles better, it looks better inside and out, it feels better, there nothing the Z does better. So to spend 8 grand more on it is fucking insane. The non Nismo is 99% of the Nismo, and it’s 40 grand, at 40 grand there’s actual merit in purchasing it, it’s a bargain vehicle that’s better than the FRS/BRZ/GR86 at everything for around the same money. It doesn’t compete with the Supra because it’s not meant to, it’s 20 grand cheaper.
The supra is a BMW so 3 to 5 years from purchase you'll either need a new engine or the components. The supra will have major electrical issues while the Z will just be carrying on it's daily duties as a normal well reliable car. You'll end up spending a lot more in the end. Take it from me, I've owned both BMW and Nissan. The reliability is no comparison.
Why? The B58 is BMW's most popular and reliable engine, you won't need a new one in 3-5 years, that's bizarre to say.. My brother owns an X5 with the B58 and zero problems...it's a reliable vehicle..
Man the Z nismo looks so good
It does!
B58 gang all day! Loved my 370z but for performance/money, the Supra is still currently king IMO. For $8k difference in cost, you can invest in mods and have a low 10 second Supra.
Yeah very true! Hard to argue with all of the good performance features in the Supra!
Stock for stock you've got to admit that v6 sounds better @BrosFOURRSpeed

Great insight into the Nismo. You've also presented and spoke well in this video. Great work. I'm happy with my Z which is 2 months old. In Australia we get only one spec equiv to the Performance in the US and then the Nismo.
Tbh I don't feel the Z is dated in the interior... I never experienced the previous gen Z's so I can't and won't comment that it's got old parts etc.
The car is awesome to drive... I really wish it didn't redline at 6900rpm... needs a bit more in the auto.
Look forward to watching more of your videos.

Damn, terrible choice.
Sweet! It's a blast of a car!
@@hpickettz34 It's a fun car to drive tho! Pricey for its lack of options. But still fun!
Yeah the Z has bigger windows for sure which is nice! It was fun wrapping the Supra and came out pretty sweat for sure!
Can you get me a Z under msrp?… 🥺
Before the Z came out: “Z is a Supra killer”
After the Z came out and gets gapped in every way: “At least it’s pure jdm”

Yeah the GTR is a whole new level of performance!
@2seep
@@Joey-xw5rddoes the 240 z performance have the same transmission as the nismo
The nismo automatically loses with a curb weight of 3700lbs, and its even worst when you consider a m2 is cheaper with better tech and more hp also.

You said exactly what I was thinking
The m2 is 25,000 more than the nismo here in Australia 😂
@@madrx2 Crazy! I specd and M2 and mine was $1k less then this Nismo
Yeah the Z is nicer in person for sure. Nismo looks 10X better. Supra is so clean with all the curves!
100% agree that the Z is dated... One of the reasons you buy a new car is for the new features. The price doesn't match what you are getting as far as "new" features. Lol.
Yeah true! It's basically a 370Z with a twin turbo engine from existing Infiniti cars and a new screen. But the Nismo is a blast to drive! Just pricey
What kind of "features"?
A new Nissan Z Nismo, Because it's a fun car.

All the Nissan guys got real quiet after they started really testing these against each other.
Yeah unfortunately the Z Performance just doesn't stack up. Especially against a Supra. Nismo is sweet tho! Just pricey!

@@thebeerhunter817 Nismo certainly is some fun!
Just depends on what the buyer wants, but the Supra is definitely the better buy.
As for looks... both are great looking cars. I think I like the Z just a bit more, though.
Yeah not are sweet! I do like the Nismo kit for sure!
Stunning 🔥 Nismo Z
Yeah the Nismo is pretty cool!
How is the wind buffering with the windows down in the Z? Is it better than the Supra?
Nissan Z doesn’t have any wind buffeting. Supra does. So you’ll be good in the Z, but Supra needs wind deflectors
There's a $10 fix for the Supra wind buffeting issue.
None existent!
Great video...the Supra is my pick.
Yeh Supra has a lot going for it!
I really like the Z nismo.
Fun car!
Honestly either one is great. Only haters gonna say otherwise. Drive what u love...
Yeah both are a ton of fun! Just when it comes to price. Hard to spend nearly $70k on the Z when the Supra actually has more features for low $60k range. If they were the same price, It'd be a dead tie
I love the 400z so much but dealerships are killing this car with markups
You can buy them for MSRP, just have to find a reputable dealer to work with.
Supra's hold value pretty well
thats baby grt (z) looks amazing can’t lie
Yeah in some ways! Fun car!
Both look amazing 👍
They are!
Doesn't it have a CFE Supra for around $66k before Destination and options? If you're comparing top of the line models, then both are equally priced.
That 65k supra is all cosmetic and doesn't add anything performance, the supra also has better tech like hud, adaptive suspension and power seats at a cheaper price
@hpickettz34 not saying it doesn't have more stuff, I'm just saying there’s a Supra priced at $66k
So like I mentioned in the video, while there is a more expensive Supra, it’s the exact same car as the normal 3.0 cars for under $60
Both of these are no pushover! I too am surprised that the Nizzie doesn't include the manual. I know that bugs a lot of people out.
Yeah they really should off a manual for a car like this. Still fun tho!
Blame the cusumers, not enough of them buying manual for company make a profit.
Actually the Nissan Z has about 50% manual sales. Same for the 2023 Supra. So Nissan has sold just as many manual Z's as automatics. Not sure why they actually did the Nismo only auto. Doesn't make sense.
@BrosFOURRSpeed same thing I thought
Is that supra stock? (Don’t count the body/exterior modifications)
mine just has the catted downpipe and exhaust. Stock tuning
A supercharged 370 would be some fun!
And yeah the Nismo seats are amazing!

@@BrosFOURRSpeed I did find a black on black MT selling very close to MSRP (they added like a $300 “protection coating”), however it also has those $900 CF mirrors I can do without. Have you sat in the new Z? The gauge cluster, steering wheel and infotainment screen is the only difference from the 370Z. Same door panel, climate controls, center tunnel, roof panel, trunk.
I prefer the Nissan Z performance. Manual transmission and best looks FTW.
Yeah thats a cool option too. but the Z performance isn't nearly as good as the Supra tho. Falls short in every way unfortunately
Oh cool. Yeah the C8 is starting to look more appealing since you can buy them under MSRP or for good deals used! Amazing car for the money!
Nismo actually looks good in white . All other colours don’t look good
Can't go wrong in white for sure!
Totally numb steering on the Z, slow turn in for a 'sports car'. Drove one. Looks nice. Might as well just buy a BMW 3 or even a Mazda 3, more practical.
Did you drive the Nismo Z or a normal one? Feels very direct in the Nismo. Similar to the Supra
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Just Performance trim, '24. Maybe you're right.
@@austinkleyn1816 Nismo is a completely different car. Z Performance is way too soft in every aspect. Nismo is the true sportscar 👌🏻
Supra sounds great
Sure does!
One thing is for certain you can breath and see better out of the Z if your a taller person.
@ sorry you took offense to this reply. No need to get defensive. Just stating an observation.
@@robertweber4377 Not offended..can you explain why it's a "biased" review? Just because I own one, doesn't make it that..
Awesome! Glad you are enjoying your car!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed my street racing days over I did that when I was kids had a mustang back then .
I’m a Z fan but not gonna get one cause it just over my budget
Yeah the Nismo is way over priced. Go for a used Supra. Much better car
$8,000 more? Uh, I think it is a lot more based on the dealer markup. The dealer markup is insane.
@@shinrips oh wow that’s crazy. I’ve bought both of my Supras for MSRp and have had the chance to buy 2 Z’s now at sticker
Nissan - listen, get the 6M back or this model will die
Yeah that would be great!
Nism⭕ 😍
Its a fun car!
Nissan Z updated version from 2009
Vs
Supra todays modern car
lol yeah the Z isn't much different from the original 370
They really failed with the Z. Supra is superior on every level .
Yeah I wish they priced it better
Meh, I'm feeling M2.
Yeah the M2 is amazing!
But then you have to look at it
I just can't come to like the Supra's looks. Sorry would not buy.
the fake vent brigade has added you to their watch list.
Not everyones taste ;)
Perfer the Z its a pure breed if i wanna chase real numbers id get a GTR or viper
Not a bad way to think about it. But a BMW is still one of the best sportscar. And the Supra has just as much Toyota in it as it does BMW. Amazing car for a lower price
the 24 GR supra is 66k....
@@BrosFOURRSpeed top of the line vs. Top of the line offered was my reasoning
Regardless the new Supra is a much better car then any Z no matter how you look at it
the Supra looks far better imo.
Great looking car for sure!
My 2010 base z never have problems. It got 200k miles now. 100%stock.
The BMW B58 is one of the best and most reliable engines on the market. Can reliably make over 700 HP. 370z engine is pretty solid too but the new Z engine isn't as good. I had a 2016 Nismo and loved it! But the new Supra is definitley a huge step up, especially with a manual
B58>>>>>VR30
Yeah the B58 is solid!
Nothing to get wrong...Both are great one is a bit faster and handles a bit better than the other. I like the looks of the Z far better but that is subjective as some prefer the look of the Supra
Yeah both looks great inter own way. love how each drives. Just wish the price was more competitive with the Nismo
Pretty much all reviewers have said the Nismo is the better driver's car than the Supra.
I've only seen reviews of people saying the opposite. However I'd say they are equally as fun. I do like the seats better in the Z. But the Supra still has better transmissions. Toss up
Nissan has some catching up to BMW.
Yeah it needs some work to get completely on par with the Supra

Yeah it's a bit much for it
Nissan is real daddy!
Just depends on what the buyer wants..
Nissan has always been more "Plastic" than Toyota...plus the Supra is a lot BMW...it's refinement vrs refinement not so important
The Supra refinement is really nice since it's BMW. Really makes it feel like a big step up. Wish the Z was cheaper
Supra is much more refined and newer
nismo too expensive
Yeah I wish it was Supra price
Z better materials
Not at all. Z has the same interior from the 2009 370Z. Basic Nissan vs the nicer BMW interior in the Supra
@@BrosFOURRSpeedit’s not even a Toyota bro chill out, I have one and it’s nice but remember it’s a bmw at the end of the day, Nissan really just smacked Toyota in their face cause they just put them on blast like
“ hey look at us we made our own z with nobody’s help😂🫵🏼”

Yeah, It's an expensive car compared to the competitors for sure!
Why? The B58 is BMW's most popular and reliable engine, you won't need a new one in 3-5 years, that's bizarre to say.. My brother owns an X5 with the B58 and zero problems...it's a reliable vehicle..
Supra is ugly
Not everyones taste for sure
