Do not feel guilty because your host is telling you that you are not playing enough for the level of "gifts" that you are receiving. The host is not your friend. The value of the stuff the casino "gives" you is nowhere near what you are losing.

Years ago at Wynn LV, my husband got a free night and tickets to the show Le Reve from our host. We didn't gamble much that visit (we lived in LV) and they brought our comp balance to a negative. My husband managed to get the comps back but it was a lesson learned!
@@CAOskate1Not out of pocket but with our comp dollars. They debited our account for the comparable amount, which was a little more than we had. We did get all our comps back.
Unless you are a big player my experience is that for the general player a host can and will do mouthing extra for you. They look at your amount of play and give you what you get, nothing extra. No more or less than any other employee in charge of reservations. Back in the good ole days of Vegas 1970- 1985+- the host at check out would assist in comping food, beverages and some other items based on play no problem. Today you’re lucky if anything is comped, as a customer we are treated more as a bother than a paying customer. And this is just one reason I don’t go anymore.
I do not think of myself as a big player, $1 rated, i play a little $5 2 credit with of daily budget of $500 , i have gotten a host 2 times, when a few good wins have happened. A host is not the end all be all , but they can make things happen, like tickets to a sold out show the like. I do agree when it was up to the pit bosses it was a alot better.
The whole comp free play thing is really confusing and I just play and enjoy what comps I receive. I try to win free play at casino promotions, bingo, is a good one. Thank you
I have a host at my local casino. He doesn’t do sh** for me. He’s asked that I book all visits through him. Before I was assigned a host I was getting parlor suites comped. Now? The trashiest rooms on the seventh floor. Hosts are overrated.
Thank you. A host called emailed me after my last trip in June. She booked my stay in September. Told her I wanted a room with a strip view, close to the elevator. We shall see. I have not been able to get it booking on my own.
Over on gamble the globe channel that was my thing, so that people could find the particular machine in the casino. More on if you wanted to play the exact machine you are able to find it.
I had a casino host walk up to me and introduce himself. I was in the middle of a bonus of huff and puff. I question him like. . am i in trouble? He said no. He said if i need anything of booking a trip cruise n etc just give a call or email. I got confused because thats the first time a host walk up to me.
Wow great topic a real eye-opener is it really worth it to spend that much money and have a "host" tell you you have a free buffet and a free room or free tickets to a show?? Maybe we should really think about this. Basically we're going to assign a host to you so you feel important while you spend thousands of dollars.
For people considering getting to that level of getting one I would say don't. It's like 3% cash back on a credit card the more you spend them 'more you get back' I'm talking to average players. High roller might as well get them perks it's like a low roller playing with a players club get that $5 or $10 free play 😂.

I have had that happen a few times at Caesars property, but never at a MGM one. I actually had my host come to me at a Rio stay, suggesting I take a break. She gave me show tickets and a steak house comp...(I had been playing non-stop for about 14 hours on a solo trip once, and was only down a small amount)
@@44Mag That sounds like a good experience. Mine strongly urges when and where I should go to do more play. She's nice enough and doing her job but I don't want to chit chat when playing. And it was at a Caesar property, how did you know lol .
I used to play enough to get a host. The problem is life changes ended up changing that lol. 1 other tip I can bring up. There are some things that you absolutely don’t need a host for. Let’s say you play outside of Vegas, but you want to stay at a hotel during a Vegas trip. Cesar’s is a good example. You can actually go online and see deals on where you want to stay. I did that and got a full week of stay for only resort fee. (I didn’t have status to qualify for free yet.) Also, slots look at coin in, and coin out, plus hand pays. You could “cheat” with slot play, while tables need to be hot and heavy. Sometimes a pit boss could rate you higher than you actually play if you’re on a slow table or tip the dealers well.
I used his video on comp grinding. Used the ballys machine plus two days of no. Stop play. Granted I did well so had some luck but bankroll of 2600 for two days and coined in 18819. Two weeks later I got an email from a junior host asking me to contact them when I come back.
@@GambleSmart I can’t not thank you both enough for all the help . It’s amazing to go to Vegas and come home excited about the trip and not kicking myself for going
Is there an advantage to link my players card with my wife’s. We both have 30000 point. Will they add the points together so we have 60000 points and can advance to the next tier. We’re at Boyd properties and next tier is 50000 points an lot More perks. Thanks love the channel ❤❤❤
Hi Dave. Always love you and Marc’s “Gamble Smart”channel. I have questions regarding host. Speaking of host, my host is rude, reasons why I am saying that is every time when I tried to book my reservations, she always wanted to get off the phone while I am asking her questions in terms of Free plays, etc. she one time rushing me to get off the phone before I finished talking. One time she even hung up on me and when I texted her back and told her how rude she was. Her response was, she got a call. Now this is with Caesar entertainment. How do I ask and request to change my host? I spoke with other host and seems like other hosts didn’t want to step her toes and nor didn’t want to give me guidance. I feel like it shouldn’t be this way, I spent $$ and my wife/I loss money every trip which ever Caesar properties we stayed although I played old slot. Just didn’t have any better luck yet but hopefully, one day. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated it.
Thank you for going over the topic today with my rude host situation. Greatly appreciate you! The information you guys provided are very helpful and gamble smarts as always. ❤️
These idiots don’t realize that they are being fish hooked. Let’s say you spend two weeks and got free rooms and free food for a total of 10k but you blew 250k or in some cases millions. The reality is you paid millions for those two weeks while they pretend to love you lmao 😂 who do you think is paying for those fresh flowers and cleaning ladies? That’s all you for depositing money to them. Who pays for the 100 million dollar maintenance? All the naïve visitors lmao 😂 do these people think these places were built on payouts? Please come again and deposit more money…..
I walked into Sahara for the first time and the host came looking for me, I wonder how they searched for me since it was my 1st time there. I play at other casinos not affiliated so it was crazy to me that she came searching for me. I had just walked in also.
I have a question that’s off topic. Free play is what I most want and then free food and possibly a free room. I saw anther channel talking about how to earn points/free play. That channel explained it like if you $500 bank roll and you do $20 spins and lose it all and then compared if you have a $500 bank roll and did say $5 spins and still lost your $500 what matters is how long you played!! Yet you lost your bankroll in both scenarios. So it seems that low rolling and making staying longer is what matters. So doesn’t this discourage higher betting? If so, they want you there longer and not give you a chance for a big win and lose than to bet bigger and give you a better chance at winning something big! That seems a little sneaky to me. lol I wish it were based on your bankroll period. Also, I have a team not a host. I was told because I bet bigger. lol but in the end I’m not staying that long. It’s confusing.
COMPED MANY TIMES AT SENECA NIAGARA CASINO & HOTELS. YA GET COMPS FROM CARDS OR SLOTS. NOT GETTING COMPS FOR JUST DINNER AND LEAVING. ITS A BUSINESS AND YOUR THERE TO GAMBLE NO BRAINER.
So what if myself or my adult children are gambling at an off-strip casino (i.e., Durango, Red Rock, Rio, etc.) and we do manage to meet their minimum host requirements with either our winnings or overall play amounts, would they be able to get us rooms or freebies at either the MGM or the Caesar's properties, or only within their hotel chain?
Think about it. Seriously. Why would a host from Company A want to help you do business with Company B instead? Company A wants to keep you as a customer, not lose you to Company B. Duh.
I can say that a significant slot win doesn’t get you a host. I stopped in an Oklahoma casino two years ago and won a $100,000+ Super Grand Progressive. Unlike the “buddies in Vegas win big” Hollywood movies, three months after the Oklahoma win I received a card with an offer of 5$ in free play. I also discovered at Tax Time Oklahoma taxes include your federally adjusted gross income plus the big win for tax purposes. I live in Ohio. Ouch. Ask your favorite accountant on the effect at tax time.
it’s not about whether you or lose or how much. they want TIME. even you play $1000/hand bj for one hour a day is not as valuable to them as someone who plays $50/hand but goes for 5-6 hours a day and plays multiple days/yr.
One question that isn't exactly clear. Let's pretend you were going to gamble $10,000 in a day. Does it makes more sense to gamble at one MGM property versus, say, gambling $2000 at five different MGM properties (Luxor, Excalibur, MGM Grand, Park MGM, etc)? I assumed MGM wouldn't care as long as you're at their properties, but it sounds like you might get more attention if you were at a single property?
If you visit you lost money from the plane ticket to the taxi or bus or Uber ~ then food and drinks are way overpriced ~ if you gamble and just deposit money ~ what is the gain? People don’t realize that if they visit they are now working for the casino. Let us tell you how to spend our money in our town lmao ~ continue giving your hard earned money to these casinos lmao 😂
@@anthonymartinez4307 Are you replying to the wrong comment? What you're posting doesn't anything to do with the question I asked. If you don't like gambling, that's fine. Like with many things it can be done in excess and be done dangerously. No debate there.
it does help that it is all the same company (mgm) but it is better to play at your fav or the group and do the most play and get the host at that location
If you did all at one property like ParkMGM or Excalibur over MGMgrand or Aria, the 10K is looked at as higher. MGMgrand, Aria, Bellagio are the higher tier properties, However, keeping it within the same umbrella MGM is much better than playing at an MGM then caesars then venitian then wynn. As all the money is in the same company. Personally this is how i play, i am not casino loyal, but i do like to stay within the brand.

Years ago at Wynn LV, my husband got a free night and tickets to the show Le Reve from our host. We didn't gamble much that visit (we lived in LV) and they brought our comp balance to a negative. My husband managed to get the comps back but it was a lesson learned!
So the casino gave you a comp hotel stay and tickets to a show and then said you had to pay for them?
@@CAOskate1Not out of pocket but with our comp dollars. They debited our account for the comparable amount, which was a little more than we had. We did get all our comps back.
@vickifeeback168 thanks for the info, never heard of that before

Always use your players card!
@@davidmendes1361make your player's card as important as the money you put in!!!!!
I love my host at Bellagio
The whole comp free play thing is really confusing and I just play and enjoy what comps I receive. I try to win free play at casino promotions, bingo, is a good one. Thank you
that is the best way to do it!
Only thing I ask my host for is to clear out the room charges. I’m definitely not one who asks for all the crazy things Ive heard people do.
i want the same, and once in a while to get me a room on a booked out night so i dont have to change my plans.
I’m happy if I get free rooms & free food lol, no need for a host but to each their own & I enjoyed your video

I have not been able to get it booking on my own.
they want to come through for you to keep you happy. But don;t think you owe them more play.
Dave, in the past when you started a video you would show the serial number of the slot you were about to play. I've always wondered why.

Basically we're going to assign a host to you so you feel important while you spend thousands of dollars.
you got that right, its nice to have but also over rated and can be pressuring.
For people considering getting to that level of getting one I would say don't. It's like 3% cash back on a credit card the more you spend them 'more you get back' I'm talking to average players. High roller might as well get them perks it's like a low roller playing with a players club get that $5 or $10 free play 😂.
good analogy on the credit card cash back! thanks for watching and commenting!

You can’t have casino host unless meet tier point to qualify
My host at the local comes to find me on the floor when I am playing uninvited, I hate that. She just appears out of nowhere.
Good topic Dave.
And it was at a Caesar property, how did you know lol .
let them know that and say you prefer email or text to schedule a meet.
My wife got a host! ME!!!!!! 😂
hopefully you get the benefits as well.
Host chase for me i don't look for them. I don't even have time to have dinner with them. So thanks for your video
(I didn’t have status to qualify for free yet.)
Also, slots look at coin in, and coin out, plus hand pays. You could “cheat” with slot play, while tables need to be hot and heavy. Sometimes a pit boss could rate you higher than you actually play if you’re on a slow table or tip the dealers well.
some great tips there! that’s for watching !
I used his video on comp grinding. Used the ballys machine plus two days of no. Stop play. Granted I did well so had some luck but bankroll of 2600 for two days and coined in 18819. Two weeks later I got an email from a junior host asking me to contact them when I come back.
thats awesome! sounds alot like my video over on Gamble the Globe :)

I hit a big jackpot and a lady came up and said she was my host. Never saw or heard from her again.
Usually they give you their card and ask you to contact them if you need anything. They don't typically reach out to you directly.

That background is scrambling my brain
in our 18 yrs never had a host interfere with activities we do get heart comps our budget is $3k for the stay boozo
Their job is to groom you into playing bigger and more often.
Please come again and deposit more money…..
very true, through positive affirmation and the idea you don’t want to disappoint.

Is the host on the campus or online?
they would usually be on property.
Are hosts getting tips from the player as well?
No, and you shouldn't feel the need to tip them.
@@GambleSmart thank you
Crap shooter here: Just go to the table and ask to be rated.
Are you able to "fire" a host as Mr. Hand Pay did with one of his hosts?
You don't have to stay with a host. You can easily ask for another one and they will transfer your account over.
@@GambleSmart 👍👍
COMPED MANY TIMES AT SENECA NIAGARA CASINO & HOTELS. YA GET COMPS FROM CARDS OR SLOTS. NOT GETTING COMPS FOR JUST DINNER AND LEAVING. ITS A BUSINESS AND YOUR THERE TO GAMBLE NO BRAINER.
true true, need to have play, but spend adds in just not as good as play.
Do you tip a host ?
So what if myself or my adult children are gambling at an off-strip casino (i.e., Durango, Red Rock, Rio, etc.) and we do manage to meet their minimum host requirements with either our winnings or overall play amounts, would they be able to get us rooms or freebies at either the MGM or the Caesar's properties, or only within their hotel chain?
it would only be within the brand they host. So in durango example it would be the station casinos. Hosts are almost always brand specific.
Ouch. Ask your favorite accountant on the effect at tax time.
it’s not about whether you or lose or how much. they want TIME. even you play $1000/hand bj for one hour a day is not as valuable to them as someone who plays $50/hand but goes for 5-6 hours a day and plays multiple days/yr.
you are not alone in the OK host issues.
If you have a host nine out of 10 times that means you're losing a lot..lol
pretty much right.
you get one when you gamble thousands
depends on the property and the level. Not always tied to X dollars.

A VIP Suite (apartment) and extra rooms for our guests we sometimes bring. We get $150. retail credits each, plus $450. extra each. We get amazing services. We eat as much as we want anytime and anywhere we want and includes our guests! All comped! We do spend roughly $5k-$6k every time we go. We do reward our host. Usually $200. per trip. Not because we have to but because we want to. She's a sweetheart and a friend! It's what keeps us going back every month or two. And, we get 2 concert tickets each for big-name entertainment!
