@@swimwsu76slots earn the best comps as they have the biggest house edge, this keeps people from just placing $100 on red and $100 on black and spamming spin for 4 hours. Keep these "GEMS" coming = very helpful & enjoyable !!! ❤ Keep safe out there & have a wonderful time on your travels !😇💚👍🙏
This is really interesting and has me thinking. The last time I was at NYNY I had the best interaction ever with the cashier when I checked out. I was even thinking how impressive and caring she was! Made my day. So I think she looked at my play without me even knowing she was looking at my play. I love NYNY but my comps are not great as I am a low roller. Like really low. Cannot wait for my next trip!
Excellent information to be sharing! I see so many people take advantage of comps and then get mad at the casino and/or host when their comps/offers decline. My only suggestion is to not think of your host as a "friend". It's a business relationship and it can be helpful to keep that perspective.
Great insight! I haven’t seen any other TH-cam personality do this yet. If you do a Part 2, there’s three questions I’d like to have answered. 1. My wife and I have our cards linked. We make Platinum each year in about three trips. Would it be better if we were both Gold instead on one Platinum? 2. I always use a marketing executive to book our stays. Ironically here name is Tara too and works at Mandalay Bay. We really like her and she does a great job with taking care of our trips. We’ve had hosts reach out to us, but keep booking with the marketing executive. Would booking with a host be better for us? 3. I typically stay Monday through Thursday and used to get a midweek bonus of $500 in freeplay. That midweek freeplay hasn’t been available to me in the past two trips. Is that bonus gone for everyone, or just some people like me? Thanks so much! I think you found a good niche with this !
Those are great questions I will sure ask those in part 2. I will say as far as gold versus platinum. I would look at the perks for each level and see if that is worth it for you, and which one you will get most benefit from like my husband and I play Golden Nugget we each get chairman instead of getting up to the highest tier, because that is a better benefit for us.
This was your best video yet. I mean seriously, I’ve now watched it twice. So informative and gave me some info that will Hopefully Allow me To get over the hump To the next tier level.
Thank you so much for the video. I love MGM and I only have a Player communication specialist that booked my offers for me and she is great. She always comps us the 5th night since our offer is 4 nights! But this year we are starting out as Pearl 🥲 so this is so helpful for us. It’s so hard to make and keep Gold, so this was perfect timing since we will be in Vegas in March. After being platinum a few years ago I miss those perks, but Gold is the goal this year. Love Aria and the Corner suite!
This was so helpful! I’ve seen so many things online about going to the rewards desk at the end of trips to have them rate your play for additional comps but I’ve been so nervous to do that bc the last time I was in Vegas over the summer I was at the rewards desk in Aria redeeming a myvegas reward and a guy next to me was asking the person at the desk about his play and the person he was talking to said they didn’t do that and the way she responded was not very friendly either!
Outstanding video! I have always wondered about many of these things & how to get a host. Live in Oklahoma but prefer to play in Vegas.. Will be there at the end of February & would love to talk to Tara. Keep the Q & As going!
So glad you found this helpful. If you have any other questions, feel free to put them in the comments or send me a message on discord because I’m gathering them for our next interview. We appreciate your support.
Fantastic interview and incredibly informative - thank you for the 'horses mouth' insight into the comp structure which has always been a bit of a mystery to me.
Does it have to be 1 machine you sit on to rack up that time towards the comps /points or can it be multiple machines or tables at any of the MGM properties?
I was just in Vegas last month. I went to the NYNY because of this video. I played a ton of slots. I spoke to a host and was told I don’t qualify to be hosted or for any comps. I’ve dropped over a $100k in four trips to the Bellagio (jan, Apr, jun, jul, and have planned Oct and Dec) if they don’t start seriously comping and hosting my stays I will just go to my local casinos.
Yes the bridge is built and it is great. Nice video Shannon. Though I’m typically Caesar’s everywhere and Wynn, I do remember thinking it was nice doing lunch at Bellagio and charging it to my room at Cosmo, and my Cosmo food and beverage credit worked for it as well!
Very informative info, thank you! Also so funny, I think my friend and I played next to you on a trip about 2 years ago. We had some laughs and you made fun of my Boston accent lol. It was at a bank of dragon links. I was watching this video thinking I knew you from somewhere, and I think thats it. Good luck on your trip!
I’m Gold at MGM was previously platinum and have never been offered a host in Las Vegas. This is good to know, but wow feel like I’ve left a lot of comps behind
Hey Shannon! Question. When they say "hours spent" on a machine. Does that mean they rate higher if you spend more hours on a single machine or your total hours for all the machines you play?
ok thanks for clarifying. I was thinking she mean't 1 machine for multiple hours. In my mind that's tough to do especially if it isn't hitting.@@DestinationJackpot
Shannon, in the tier credits section. You mention earning 3,000 TC a day is good and the host confirms. Then the host says for room comps they are looking for a THEO of 1,500 a day. Did she mean 1,500 TC a day? Because she mentions THEO is TC earned times 12%. That would be 12,500 TC a day to hit 1,500 THEO. Appreciate the clarification.
I looked to see if my question was already asked but I don't see it anywhere. Regarding MGM Online Gambling, is that included in tier and comp offers as well?
I had a host at Luxor and when I tried to book a room or promotion at another MGM property, he told me I had to contact a host at that casino. He was no help. I gambled alot during the pandemic and received great comps. How far do you go back to factor in your coin-in & coin-out? BTW I used to be Gold and I’m now Pearl.
Great video. Going to Vegas in July and haven’t been there in more than 15 yrs. I do play at Beau Rivage so booked MGM property. Question is if husband and wife are Pearl and Gold if we link our accounts would we combine those to a higher level??
If you wait 60 seconds between each spin, is that better than if you wait 30 seconds? When does the length of a session get counter balanced against volume of spins? Any guesses on the range that is most optimal.
All the play over the years never once got approached for any comps let alone a drink!! I usually do not drink if playing anyway…. Went on a cruise and was rather impressed with the comp Steak House, Japanese Restaurant and Free Cruises after only burning up about 1000 dollars of my own money into the machines but consistent less than Hand Pay 600 to 900 payouts kept us playing slots about every hour the Casino was open!!! So Free Balcony 7 days with free drink package for a 7 day Alaska Cruise is booked. All we pay is taxes gratuities and parking so total 7 day trip costs 1100 for 2 of us includes Food …. Less than driving vacation buying gas and 6 nights in hotels kind of tripping!!!!!
You know what? I did not realize it’s the time spent on the machine and not the amount…..no wonder I get comped so well at the Virgin…..I stay there a couple times a year…..and just love that place! ❤❤ ❤
And always remember to see if your card is being read. I have noticed, (a bit late) that when you hit a bonus and you are getting more free spins, the machine will stop reading your card if that "spin" button is idle, by not being hit by the player.
I was in Vegas staying at the Venetian playing slots for 3 days, I was killing it. My host comes up to me while I’m playing and offers me a couple more nights for free. I said, what do you think I’m stupid!? I know you are comping me rooms food etc so I will lose my money back. Not a chance!! I got on the plane with pockets bulging with cash 😂😂
@@SAsh-zg6ln you don’t need to be a high roller to get a host, I’m not. I have been to the Venetian multiple times and they know I play slots which is a big money maker for them. Don’t be jealous.
Is Tara still a host @ New York New York? When I look, her name doesn't pop up. I am currently a gold MGM member, who normally stays at Mandalay Bay with full comps. However we are looking to switch over to staying at New York New York. We already have a reservation in a couple weeks. Thanks for a great video!!!
@@andrewhime7701 I did have an account with M card years ago, it’s almost a decade now. Do you know if M life will still match my current Tier with Caesars Reward?
@@DestinationJackpotthank you Dave. Even though I already had an account with M life but has stopped visit the M properties almost a decade now, will they still match my current Platinum Plus Tier with Caesar or they will only match if I would never have an account with M life?
Hey, Thanks for the vid. Super interesting to learn. Im coming to Vegas with some friends next year for our 40th. Quick Question, for groups that come maybe once every few years, is there any point me thinking about reward cards and comps? Im sure we will sign up once over and play a lot of slots and table games but not sure 5 nights will be enough to see any benefit for us? So it would be great to get your take. Im the planner so I'm just trying to make sure I understand all the little things Vegas does, that us brits don't do, Thanks a lot :)
Shannon, great video and good information. Very enlightening. I have a question for you. Do I get a host at Aria/Bellagio where we like to stay. I have a host at Mandalay Bay, but we do not like to stay there. What is your opinion on this? I hate to ask MB host for other property. Thank you.
My host is at NYNY and we don’t stay there every time but she is more than happy to help us at other properties as it still helps her. Hope this helps. So glad you enjoyed the video.
I can rationalize comps and free play as a rebate on losses. I get massage, golf, buffets, concert tix, rooms. Smart players can come out close to even every year with a great relationship with a host.. They will trade your cash for services all day long. Soft comps are company owned services and easier to get, Hard comp is anything other like Taylor Swift concert, raiders game not in owned suite etc...you gotta lose a ton to get a hard comp.
Wow,my last trip to nyny I fell over a ramp and tubing on casino floor late a used , cost me thousands in rotator cuff surgery when I got home . Told numerous workers offered no help. Plus lost alot!
So time played at a slot is how to earn comps but is it times played at one particular machine or can i play several different slot machines at the same hotel same day?
Hi I was watching Jacob’s life in Vegas, and he mentioned in a video that MGM is issued rewards credit card on approval at the front desk, but when I asked Aria about this the gal said they had to be done online. To be honest she was rude, and sounded like she didn’t know anything at all. Would you happen to know if that is true or not?
Trying to play the game so the value my "free" room, comps, match play etc arent too much less than my losses. I enjoy gambling and casino living, but I'm not going to lose too much more than the retail cost of those things trying to get them for "free." So I'm never going to be a high roller and that's fine with me, but oddly enough if you hit the tier credit multiplier days and take advantage of offers it's really not that hard to get decent rewards without losing too much. Well on my way to Diamond Elite at Caesars and almost 60% of my tier points have come from matching points or the multipliers.
I'm thinking about taking my wife and daughter to Vegas for my daughter's graduation. To see some shows and sites whats the best way or place to make reservations. We do gamble and have never been to Vegas.
If you have a casino brand that you have a card or status with I would start with them and see what your rates are, that is where you will get your best rates. This is a great question, I can elaborate more if you tune in to our Live tomorrow and ask the question it will be easier for me to elaborate on verbally. Hope to see you tomorrow on the live.
Gold status is to hard to reach now without making many trips out over the course of a year and losing a lot of money. It used to be more obtainable but unless you come often, pearl is about only status that most people will reach. A video on what extras you can get and how to get them with one status below gold (or its equivalent at other chains) might be interesting. In other words, can you push to get some additional credits at check out with pearl status even without an assigned host? A guide on how to do that would be interesting as it will be applicable to way more people than those with gold status (or higher) and a personal host.
@@DestinationJackpot Thanks that would be great. Also to clarify I meant a player who is pearl status (or its equivalent) but maybe on given trip(s) is playing at a good level. I have heard you still can maybe get some additional amounts off your bill. But guidance on how to do this? What to ask for? Who to approach to get the most off? How much can you possibly get off depending on play on that given trip even though you are not gold tier? This is going to include the majority of players since they have now made gold and above so hard to achieve. I actually don't think it reasonable to get to this level anymore unless you are regularly using a tie in credit card and/or are coming out to Vegas many times over the course of the year.
My comps went way down for 2024 because my 8+ night stay in September took place during the 2023 cyberattack and I couldn’t do my usual slot play. It really hurt players who can only travel to Las Vegas 1-2 times a year.
We were there right at the end of that. Our host helped us with that and I think we did get our points. But yes that was a bad deal, have you talked to them about it?
This was very interesting. Can you talk to a host before you book even if you never had a host? I think we lost our comps because it’s been a few years as I dislocated my knee cap and broke it in 3 places a month before we were coming last year😕
Shannon, you found your sweet spot! No one on TH-cam focuses on hosts, comps, tiers, rewards etc.. Run with it. Own it! This was your best video by far. Embrace your strength.

U & Mike R so much fun & really love your shares/videos of trips !!! 👍😍
(I only like sweet wines - Mike U R the conosuier) .
Keep these "GEMS" coming = very helpful & enjoyable !!! ❤
Keep safe out there & have a wonderful time on your travels !😇💚👍🙏
This is really interesting and has me thinking. The last time I was at NYNY I had the best interaction ever with the cashier when I checked out. I was even thinking how impressive and caring she was! Made my day. So I think she looked at my play without me even knowing she was looking at my play. I love NYNY but my comps are not great as I am a low roller. Like really low. Cannot wait for my next trip!
Thanks for sharing!!
Excellent information to be sharing! I see so many people take advantage of comps and then get mad at the casino and/or host when their comps/offers decline. My only suggestion is to not think of your host as a "friend". It's a business relationship and it can be helpful to keep that perspective.
Absolutely!!
Great interview. great questions! Very informative🎉. Thank you❤
Our pleasure! Glad it was helpful!
Great show! Great info! Thx!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for this informative video!
My pleasure!
This was your best video yet. I mean seriously, I’ve now watched it twice. So informative and gave me some info that will
Hopefully
Allow me
To get over the hump
To the next tier level.
That makes me so happy💚💚💚
I cannot wait to visit New York New York on my visit to Las Vegas this year!!
It is a great place for sure!
Glad it was helpful! Yes, we love aria too but often can get better comps at NYNY.
You're so welcome! I will say all casinos aren’t friendly, but if you don’t ask you won’t know. So be brave you can do it. 😉
This was so informative. Thank you so much for doing this video, I had no idea how they really did this.
You are so welcome!
This is a very informative video. I have dealt with Tara in the past and she’s great to work with. Thanks for sharing!
Glad it was helpful! Yes she is amazing!
is it better to show your card at an mgm restaraunt or charge it to your room?
We always charge to our room.
I love hearing this info!!! Learning lots.
So glad! More to come!
Fantastic interview and incredibly informative - thank you for the 'horses mouth' insight into the comp structure which has always been a bit of a mystery to me.
So glad you enjoyed it! More to come💚💚💚
That was a great interview! Thanks so much!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Does it have to be 1 machine you sit on to rack up that time towards the comps /points or can it be multiple machines or tables at any of the MGM properties?
It can be multiple machines.
That seems crazy. What level are you with mgm and how many tier credits do you have?
Thank you For your information very helpful and interesting ❤
You are so welcome
I subscribed to this channel because of this video.
Thank you for the sub. We will continue to bring more tips and d value😉
We are excited to be able to stay at Cosmo. Glad you enjoyed the video.
It’s a small world. Maybe we will meet up again.
Great info! Thanks so much!
You bet!
I’m Gold at MGM was previously platinum and have never been offered a host in Las Vegas. This is good to know, but wow feel like I’ve left a lot of comps behind
Next time you’re there for sure ask for one😉
Very informative, I will be traveling to vegas next month, last time i visited was 2010😬
Wow, it will be a little different! Good Luck🍀🍀🍀
Hey Shannon! Question. When they say "hours spent" on a machine. Does that mean they rate higher if you spend more hours on a single machine or your total hours for all the machines you play?
It's the total hours played on any machine or machines during a one day period.
ok thanks for clarifying. I was thinking she mean't 1 machine for multiple hours. In my mind that's tough to do especially if it isn't hitting.@@DestinationJackpot
I just subbed off this random video. Very informative!
Oh great. Thank you.
I am not certain how tier credits compare to Theo. I just know we shoot for that and always get our rooms comped.
I looked to see if my question was already asked but I don't see it anywhere. Regarding MGM Online Gambling, is that included in tier and comp offers as well?
Yes you do.
Depends on the brand. Most will look at your last couple of trips.
Great stuff im actually starting to cover such topics more often most people need to know this stuff
Thank you.
Great staff there. Anitra is fabulous too.
Yes she is❤️❤️❤️
I really appreciate this video. Great info.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video. Going to Vegas in July and haven’t been there in more than 15 yrs. I do play at Beau Rivage so booked MGM property. Question is if husband and wife are Pearl and Gold if we link our accounts would we combine those to a higher level??
I would go to the rewards desk and ask your card level should be the same if your cards are linked. I hope you win big in Vegas🍀💚🍀💚🍀💚
If you wait 60 seconds between each spin, is that better than if you wait 30 seconds? When does the length of a session get counter balanced against volume of spins? Any guesses on the range that is most optimal.
The amount of spins matters so it doesn’t help to wait. I tried that😉
Thank you. That was very interesting!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very nice! That is for sure a win! Enjoy the cruise!
You know what? I did not realize it’s the time spent on the machine and not the amount…..no wonder I get comped so well at the Virgin…..I stay there a couple times a year…..and just love that place! ❤❤ ❤
Awesome. Thank you for watching and supporting us.
Very helpful information. Thank you
You're so welcome
Thank you. Good info.
You're so welcome!l
And always remember to see if your card is being read. I have noticed, (a bit late) that when you hit a bonus and you are getting more free spins, the machine will stop reading your card if that "spin" button is idle, by not being hit by the player.
Yes so many times I thought my card was being read but it wasn’t.
Awesome! Great job❤️❤️❤️
I’m gonna go ahead and call bs on that. Not a single high roller with a host would watch this video and comment something so obvious
I’m gonna go ahead and call bs on that. Not a single high roller with a host would watch this video and comment something so obvious
Awesome. What slots do you play?
@@SAsh-zg6ln you don’t need to be a high roller to get a host, I’m not. I have been to the Venetian multiple times and they know I play slots which is a big money maker for them. Don’t be jealous.
Oh such great content!!!
Thank you so much!
Never thought about charging my Wicked Spoon (Cosmo) meal to Bellagio to help with tier credits! I have just been paying! Great video!
Glad it helped.
can you earn comps when you are on a comped stay?
Yes you can earn additional comps for things that you charge to your room.
She isn’t there anymore. Have a great stay at NYNY.
No she probably works at an auto dealership now since most hosts are parasite sleezy salespeople.
My wife and I are Diamond Plus with Caesar Entertainment, will MGM wiling to match my tier level? Please advise
They do have a tier match. Not sure how long it will be there but they do have it now.
If you've never had an MGM account before.
Tara is the best! ❤❤❤🎉
She sure is!
You’re absolutely welcome, glad you enjoyed it.
GREAT Information! I have been doing this for years and it took me forever to get this. I still don’t get some of the stuff.
Glad it was helpful! I am always learning new things too. Things are so different across brands too.
Thanks!
Thanks you so much for your support; glad it was helpful!
Great info!
Thank you❤️
I can rationalize comps and free play as a rebate on losses.
Your absolutely correct🍀🍀🍀
Wow,my last trip to nyny I fell over a ramp and tubing on casino floor late a used , cost me thousands in rotator cuff surgery when I got home . Told numerous workers offered no help. Plus lost alot!
Well that is not fun. So sorry that happened to you. They are usually so accommodating I am surprised by that.
U must be lying. Why in the world would u not go to a personal injury attorney?
So time played at a slot is how to earn comps but is it times played at one particular machine or can i play several different slot machines at the same hotel same day?
You can play several it’s time total.
I have seen applications at the rewards desks at most MGM casino’s. Maybe she had no idea.
I agree💚💚💚
Nyny does have the best high limit bar tenders. Love them
They sure do!!
Whooooooooooooaaaa i live here in vegas!!!!❤❤❤
Nice❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for sharing 🙂
Thanks for watching!
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
I'm thinking about taking my wife and daughter to Vegas for my daughter's graduation.
I rarely go to Vegas, and we don’t have local casinos, so comps don’t do me much good. They’re always for your next visit.
Yes that can be true if you don’t go often.
We will sure keep that in mind.
What would be a good gift to bring to a host?
We like to bring a gift card or something from your hometown or state.
Interesting info ... good video. : )
Thank you!
I think we lost our comps because it’s been a few years as I dislocated my knee cap and broke it in 3 places a month before we were coming last year😕
That is a little hard unless you have a contact.
