Disapointing not to see adaptive suspension. I feel this should be more standardized, and really an expectation now for cars of this price and caliber.

I'd rather comfort any day of the week compared to the rock hard suspension normally supplied. Our roads are absolutely terrible so absolutely no way would I want to sacrifice the comfort for that 1 in a thousand time you're on the sign wave type road.. So many vehicles are overly firm these days it's a welcome change that a luxury car is actually supplied with comfort oriented luxury style suspension..

    • @TheStigHCE09

You can have softer springs and still retain good body control.
The sine wave test alludes to the standard damping not being totally with it. As Paul mentions the optional adaptive dampers might be different but we won't know until they can actually provide that option.

@@TheStigHCE09 Yes that can be true but the reality is when you sample a lot of modern cars today they're incredibly firm.. And how common is it to read/hear in a car review that the adjustable dampers hardly make any difference at all and often it's just firm and then ridiculous or unusable.. . Nice to see the new Golf gti with its 15 way (or whatever the number is) adjustable dampers that actually make a lot of difference as you go through the settings..

I used to have a 2019 C class (face-lift) and I have recently traded it with one of these and I'm very happy with that - my 2019 had AMG kit (sport suspension) which was very stiff for a daily use but fun when taking corners, this one has selective damping suspension which is a lot more comfortable than my previous car, it is still fun to take corners with it but definitely not as fun as my previous car. All in all, my ptiority is comfort!

For all the so called advances in safety tech, car manufacturers are losing the plot. Especially relating to what I call general settings ; i.e. Heating, cooling, fan speeds, radio controls, GPS etc. ALL car manufacturers need to go back a few steps to tactile buttons & bloody knobs. How the f*** are buyers supposed to actually focus on the task of actually driving safely?

Nice looking car and full of gadgets. The more you pay the more gadgets you get. It's all gadgets and performance. But what choice do we have when comfort is your priority. 19" rims with low profile tyres might work well on this test track but in reality most streets and roads don't comply well with many modern cars and their "Top Gear" influenced sports performance. Now this is all great for the arm chair dreamer, or lead footed racing driver who probably could not handle this car, at anywhere near its full performance, even if they ever had the opportunity to do so. So where is our choice when most car makers are just more of the same.

bit of a local gripe, but where is the spare wheel? repair kits et al are a deal breaker for me, also as Paul stated, a back up control knob would be reassuring rather than all the "eggs" on one screen.

The backseat feels cheap for a $90k+ car. A VW Golf or Skoda Octavia that’s between a third to a half of the price has a third climate zone, USB-C charge ports in the rear and flocked door pockets so your bottles won’t rattle. Knowing Benz it’ll probably be sold as a $2000 “comfort package”.
Not to mention these rear seat amenities are standard on a base Audi A4 or 3 Series, if you want something that competes in the same class.

@@CarExpertAus Crap hybrid system, lack of proper Australian tune, higher cost of ownership compared to rivals. The point is, no car is perfect and it’s hard to find reliable Australian-focused reviews that properly put the vehicles through their paces and tell you what you’re up for owning one (at least without suffering through a John Cadogen rant). And car manufacturers seem to just be raising their prices and taking customers for a ride lately (pun intended).
Sorry for the critical feedback, I’m actually a big fan of the channel. Your mid-size SUV off-road test and a previous video steered me away from the Hybrid Forester and into a petrol model which I purchased a few months back.

@@M8YM8 Critical feedback is never an issue. We called out the ride at the the 16:50 mark over the sine waves. I thought the hybrid system was great - it's designed as a mild hybrid system to aid with efficiency and a seamless stop/start. In terms of ownership costs, it's not something we look at because it'll vary depending on how far you travel - a five year service plan is more expensive than a 3 Series, but equally you get an additional two years of warranty, which BMW doesn't offer.
