Even though I find the "View to a Kill" namedrop to be kinda awkward and cringey, I really admire the sheer audacity of it. Like the filmmakers are saying, "Yeah, we're doing it this way. Ya got a problem with it?"
I loved it when James Bond said "This is a Casino Royale (2006), so I will have to Quantum of Solace (2008), or they are going to put me in a Skyfall (2012), and when the Spectre (2015) comes after me, There is No Time to Die (2021)." Truly the Jamest of all the Bonds

Personally I wouldn't count titles based on names of characters (Dr No, Goldfinger, Octopussy) as title drops - if it's the character's name, it's got to me mentioned at some point. More interesting are the phrases such as YOLT, OHMSS, TMWTGG, FYEO, AVTAK, TLD, L2K, TWINE, etc - they don't have to be mentioned at all, but the writer has included them to give some reason why the title was chosen and it takes some imagination to work them in. Of those, whilst AVTAK is perhaps the most contrived, I think TWINE is the worst-delivered, and would have been better without the long pause before it.
@@grumpyoldman3458 Now that's an idea for another video - Bond film titles that are mentioned in *other* Bond films! If you want to count the 007 video games, Tomorrow Never Dies on PlayStation has a really strange title drop, coming as Elliot Carver's last line after his boss battle. It might seem awkwardly shoved in at first, but given his character (who was, unfortunately, not voiced by Johnathan Pryce this time around), it does showcase his to-the-end defiance a bit. It even makes me wonder what'll happen to the Tomorrow newspaper and his other legitimate ventures after he's gone.

While I agree The Living Daylights one was good - i also agree it was camp. To the point where you half expect Dalton to glance at the camera and wink.
The most interesting title drop during Daniel Craig's era was the name of the organization pulled up on the screen "Spectre" as well as the name of the satellite in Goldeneye during Peirce's run.
I love The Living Daylights! As for YOLT, Bond would have been less bored if the movies had followed the book arrangement: On Her Majesty's Secret Service precedes You Onlly Live Twice in the books because in OHMSS, Blofeld kills Bond's wife....Bond starts failing on missions right and left from grief so he's sent to Japan as a pity mission (even M couldn;t bring himself to remove Bond's status as a 00 agent so he shuffled him off to investigate what should have been a lesser mission but instead he comes up against Blofeld, his personal as well as professional nemesis!)
Interesting point, but I was actually referring to Sean Connery phoning in his performance in that film because he was so tired of playing James Bond by that point.
If you're interested in ideas for further videos, I think it would be cool if you did a ranking of all the movies' intro sequences (or maybe just a top 10). The intros have always been very appealing to me, and I sort of associate each film in my mind with the aesthetics of its intro. The Moonraker was too obviously . Something that burdens me in that scene were the woman got shot in Doctor No they have put the colors way too violently to master it . They added too much blood on the floor/carpet which is ridiculous as the flowers in the vase are too pronounced and not even natural .
@@TheJamesBondCountdown No it was added for the bluray and prolly the 4K release + their masterings . The VHS from Universal Artists later on MGM wasn't that pronounced as colors it showed just the normal kinda not noticeable as the flowers in the vase showed more white than pink palette same as the color from the white skin was more normal human not to the red pronounced . Same goes for the first DVD releases that were slighty remastered here and there from MGM but violently vibrant colors which somehow ruins it for me . This somehow why i not like Sony TV's in the late 80's , 90's and early 2000's their colors was way too vibrant and violent to the eye . Why Philips and Panasonic TV's were much better used softer colors . Nothing besides your video and your quality work into offering us your opinions and enlightment which i respect everyone's ideas !! But the way that old movies got remastered today by adding this and that or a silly "couple seconds" of forgotten scenes which offers nothing to the movie "plot" at all is cringe . Thats why we have these bonus discs on DVD/Bluray to watch it . Also not to forget that many DVD/Bluray release falls today in the same joke like records becoming way too expensive for what it was used for . I'm not gonna pay 35 Euros for a DVD or Bluray which has been remastered but many of the times not offering a booklet which has been forgotten alot in many DVD's . ( somehow thats why i keep my MGM DVD's from James Bond which offered a booklet with many deleted scenes, easter eggs and such . Somehow later on releases has left the booklets completely to become a loosy 1 disc DVD/Bluray for less than 5 Euros as the disc itself is from bad quality . )
Ah, yes: all of the best name-drops are Brosnan's. "So, you only live twice . . . Blofeld." "So, you live and let die . . . Kananga." "So, you view to a kill . . . Zorin." Happy to ablige!
I distinctly remember the audience laughing out of you to kill when the title was dropped
the russian girl used to be Miss Italy before (Daniela Bianchi)
Do top 10 list for james bond, bad guys lairs
All in good time...
My favourite Bond Film is .... the one I'm watching!
Now i must become superman IV, the quest for peace
When will you post next video?
Soon...Very soon.
The Moonraker was too obviously .
Something that burdens me in that scene were the woman got shot in Doctor No they have put the colors way too violently to master it . They added too much blood on the floor/carpet which is ridiculous as the flowers in the vase are too pronounced and not even natural .
I think what you're referring to is simply a side-effect of the rich, vibrant, saturated colors inherent in technicolor film stock of the 1960's.
@@TheJamesBondCountdown
No it was added for the bluray and prolly the 4K release + their masterings .
Somehow later on releases has left the booklets completely to become a loosy 1 disc DVD/Bluray for less than 5 Euros as the disc itself is from bad quality . )
It's funny to think that The Property of a Lady could have been a title drop in Octopussy. It sure as hell makes for a better title.
If anyone has read Moonraker, doesn't Die Another Day feel so much like that book than the movie?
It certainly adapts quite a few elements of it - More than the movie Moonraker does.
Now you mention it, yes
I am shocked... SHOCKED!.... that Octopussy did not make the cut.
Do the actors next!
All in good time, my friend.
I was expecting, licence to kill to be at number 1 position
It almost made the list!
Elektra: "I could have given you the world"
Bond: "On Her Majesty's Secret Service."
Elektra: "What...?"
Bond: "Damn, wrong title drop!"
Early James bond novels, was only 4, 00 agents
I believe one of the books mentions a 0011.
What are your top ten James Bond Movies and the top 6 actors that played James Bond?
There's another video on my channel ranking all of the movies, but haven't gotten around to ranking the actors yet...Stay tuned.
Bond's family motto is 'The world is insufficient', not 'The world is not enough'. Would have been a worse title though.
3:17 Don't hide what your doing from the neighbors, jeez.
Ok so how many 007 films did not drop titles?
Only a small handful I think
@@Bisbeatle true. The spy who loved me and OHMSS maybe. Diamonds are forever and live and let die? Tomorrow never dies and quantum of solace?
Before having seen the whole thing, my guess for the top spot is from russia with love.
10:04 a pun intended?
Let's not forget for your eyes only darling
What?!?!? Octopussy should been on this list lol
I can't agree with A view to kill, seems really forced. Especially when Dr NO is number 10.
My opinion is better. Prove me wrong!
😁
Ah, yes: all of the best name-drops are Brosnan's.
"So, you only live twice . . . Blofeld."
"So, you live and let die . . . Kananga."
"So, you view to a kill . . . Zorin."
"So, you've scared the living daylights out of them . . . General."
"So, you licence to kill . . . Sanchez."
"So, you have no time to die . . . Safin."
Classic Brosnan.
