That scene from For Your Eyes Only where Bond is about to go skiing and the baddies follow him into the elevator resembles the scene from Spectre when Q is sitting in the aerial tram while the bad guys are sitting there with him

I loved spectre, but I think it would have been brilliant with a "view to a kill" like ending. If Bond had grabbed on to a rope from the helicopter and had a finale showdown with blofeld on top of tower bridge or the shard. Like the duel between him and Zorin. Great film though.
It would be interesting if the actual Tomorrow Never Dies reference from Spectre is where Daniel Craig is waiting for Money Penny, because in TND itself, the scene (where Pierce Brosnan's Bond is waiting for Paris Carver) was actually considered at the time to be reference to a scene in Dr No where Connery is sitting down playing cards and waiting for a bad guy to arrive before gunning him down. Interesting then, because wouldn't that make this a reference within a reference !?

You forgot when Bond is on the plane and locks eyes with the henchman in the car, it's a mirror reference to when in "The Spy Who Loved Me", Bond looks at the woman piloting the helicopter while driving the Lotus
These are more similarities than references but still great video and it was very interesting to learn about all of these which a lot I didn’t know about. I think License to Kill has the biggest reference with both villains not wearing socks.

That's a possibility for a future video! I did put this video off for 4 months though due to the work involved in trawling through all of the films. With DAD being the main subject, I can see it taking me even longer!
Bond trying to gain control of the helicopter actually comes from You Only Live twice, so the GoldenEye scene itself is a reference, and when he leaves through the window at the beginning Is a reference to Diamonds are Forever, when James is in the Hotel.

I wonder if this will happen again in the next film, especially as it will be Bond 25 which some may consider a milestone. Unless of course they somehow manage to get Bond 26 underway sooner and release it 2 years after Bond 25 like they used to. As opposed to waiting 3-5 years for the next film, which has usually been due to financial issues or whatever.

In "Spectre" the meteor Crater lair is much like the villains lair described in the James Bond continuation novel "Role of Honor" which came out in the early 80's and was written by John Gardner. The villains lair from the novel was run by SPECTRE which makes a return in 3 of John Gardner's continuation novels. Also, this is unrelated to the SPECTRE movie but, the climax from A View to A Kill takes place on an airship like the climax of "Role of Honor."
I've read several of the continuation novels, but I really need to get around to re-reading them to spot further inspiration in the films. Same goes for the video games.
If they spent as much time writing a good film as they did trying to shoe-horn endless references and "hommages" in to every new Bond movie they might not be so f*cking souless and dismal.

He is attached to a rope with a line of barrels, which is exactly what happens in....Jaws. Robert Shaw, (Red Grant in FRWL) shoots the attached rope of barrels into the shark. This was to drown it....it didn't work...and I don't think it worked with Hinx..
There are also references to non-EON Bondfilms: As in the 67' "Casino Royale" Moneypenny suports Bond very activly in his field works, and as in "Never Say Never Again" the main villain is played by an austrian actor.

Obviously I'm a fan of the Bond film franchise and books, and even though I thought Spectre was one of the weaker Daniel Craig outings, there were a few things that resonated in my mind recalling previous movies. I recall thinking when Bond falls only to be cushioned by a couch that it was a nice call back to the Bond movie that began my interest.
Never thought I'd see another Bond feature so many references to the prior movies after DAD. Seems strange considering this wasn't accompanied by an anniversary like Skyfall was.

Yes, that line in Octopussy is a reference to the Fleming story of that name, effectively making the film a sequel to Fleming's story.
Very well done. Spectre is an underrated film. I see comments all the time of how people didn't like it. One of my favorite bond films.

They were so busy working in all these references that they forgot to write a good script.
