One tip I will give, to anyone, driving anything. That blind spot can be eliminated--by moving your own body, that is, just look at the sideview mirror--either side, then while looking at the mirror, rock forward and back--many times you then pick up a car you did not see while YOU stayed in a stationary position. Do NOT "look over your shoulder", taking your eyes off the road. Just move forward and back and cover that blind spot. All the while you are facing forward.
Exactly there is no blindspot in the miata. The car is so tiny u will either see the car in ur side mirror or just turn ur head slightly to see the rest of the view.
As a teenager, I had a beat up old “1974 beetle . I couldn’t see nothing backing up. I used to open the door and stretch my neck, because of that, these back up cameras are useless to me 😂
I'm talking to Mazda right about lining up a refreshed MX-5 for this year and was telling them they ruined me lol because all I want now is a MX-5. My BRZ is great for now because I can fit my son and wife still;)
Before I got my NC I asked someone who had one. Should I get one? He answered “do you enjoy driving? Simple YES. It’s been my everyday car for the past 8 years and never looked back
True Roasters are never practical. They were built for driving pleasure only, so forget storage space, glovebox space and location, it's a sportscar and a true Roadster the very last of its kind under $100K that I can think of, adding, it's also the best one I've ever driven since my 1964 and 1066 MGB's back in those years. Hell, I was happy with an AM radio back then.
I bought 2017 used GT RF with only 7400km for $24k in Wayne Gretzky’s town last month. Practically brand new. I have 5 cars including VW GTI. Both GTI and MX5 build for driving. Amazing cars.
Good review, covering the main points. Not many people are aware that there is a small storage area behind the seat and there is a light in the trunk with an on/off switch. Since this is a fun car for me, the retiree, I find it as close to perfect for my use, which is running errands and some weekend and day trips with my wife. No car is perfect, so you have to find one that checks all the important boxes. Gas mileage is very impressive along with the big fun factor of driving the thing.
Great comments! Interesting! Thanks for the kind words. I think that’s what blew me away the most. My BRZ gets 20mpg realistically and I felt like the MX-5 was pretty much double. I use mine because I can put my child but once I don’t need that extra seat I would switch in a heartbeat. What a fun car!
With the soft top version there is a little space behind both seats, and the glove box is bigger. I have Android Auto/Apple Carplay in mine and it makes all the difference with the infotainment system. Works great. Never had an issue with the cupholder. I daily drive mine, since 2019.
Because it’s a drop top it’s alone… the BRZ and GR86, are hard top only. Next option is more money-Boxster or Z4. Mustang is heavyweight much bigger and less nimble
Thank you!! Side note, very jealous lol. What a car and I think I'm going to ask Mazda if I can borrow a soft top in the spring. I'm curious myself, especially since it's significantly cheaper. Enjoy!!
Thanks for not saying Miata. This car does exactly what it advertises to do. Nothing more nothing less. I have ordered the 2024 ND3 and have paid the deposit however every country around the world will get slightly different specs depending on how they negotiate with Mazda Japan I haven’t received any confirmation paperwork yet because Mazda Australia doesn’t know yet not even the price. We’ll just have to wait and see. Can’t wait though 😂
Congratulations! Thanks for the comments. I’m not just saying that when I say I get it now that the Miata is always the answer. I love my BRZ but after a week with the ND2 I have to sell myself on why I love my car lol. Yours is just that little bit more engaging (plus the amazing open air experience), but that little bit makes all the difference in the world. I think once I don’t need my rear seats I’ll try and switch. Enjoy
I just bought a Soul Red crystal metallic Club RF. They hard to find as most folks rather the GT Grand Tourer. Should have it delivered in a week or two. I live in the Mtn. Twisties so I get to enjoy it for that easily
The little wheel for the info display it's not about reach. I actually really like it because I find it hard to use the touch screen while driving over uneven roads and bumps. You have to take your eyes off the road two long, trying to hit the touch screen in the correct place. Once you get used to the little wheel, it is way better.
Definitely a car that people should test drive. Its been years since their initial launch of new "?miata" design and its been on top of my list for smiles per gallon. From what ive read, next year model is coming with bigger infotainment system. If that doesnt push me to trade in my car, im most likely going for used just for the joy of driving this car
Got myself a 2022 soft top after commenting this 4 months ago. I think there's speculation of either hybrid or electric miata next, but I think that will come in 2+ years. I've been daily driving mine since purchase in December.
The automatic transmission is only available on the GT (expensive) trim. The Sport trim (base) and the enthusiast Club trim (Brembo brakes, Recaro seats, BBS Wheels and such) only offer the manual transmission. If you want the performance package, manual only.
Great comments! Thanks:) And I agree. I asked for the RF because I always wanted one but after a week I realize I’d be happy with the soft top. I’m just not sure if it would be warm in the winter? Do you know?
@@Neutralreviews I have had mine for 4 years and change now, I find the heater to be very enthusiastic, enough I could drive interstate in early November down from Michigan with the heater blasting and top DOWN! Top up, I wouild be far more concerned about changing the tires to all seasons, and not at all concerned about it being warm enough. That is a pretty thick multiply top.
Sound dampening-at highway speeds? Can you converse (top up of course) or must you shout to be heard. Must you turn the radio up loud to hear it--wind noise around the edges?
I was extremely impressed with the sound quality of the cabin with the roof up! I was out in hard rain and my BRZ sounds like you are in a tent but the ND2 RF was close to a normal modern cabin. I really liked the seat mounted speakers and feel the aid in this quality experience
I can say first hand that the infotainment system sucks! I own a 2023 MX-5. I purchased an aftermarket usb dongle to help with the wireless connection for CarPlay and android auto.
I'm a sucker for flat bottom steering wheels, but I have to say, like with my BRZ, it grew on me and it seams to fit the classic sports car vibe. Maybe a club sports trim or something...
They rebranded it the MX-5 a while back because the Miata was seen as too feminine. Even though marketers do this they aren’t fooling anyone because those that know the car know it as the Miata lol. Which isn’t a bad thing as it’s a great car and a great grassroots racer. Good question:)
@@Neutralreviews Mazda only rebranded the Miata in the USA because too many insecure dimwitted Americans thought "Miata" sounded too feminine. It's still called the Miata everywhere else in the world.
@Neutralreviews I get it. At didn't have a choice when I got mine in Platinum quartz metallic. At first wasn't sure about color, now I love it. Goes from silver to champagne color depending on the light.
Let’s keep the comments to cars and be more positive. “Run my mouth”?? I’m a reviewer lol. And that’s not a way to address someone. I’m a real person trying my best. Treat people on the internet how you would in real life. The world is a mess and negative rude behaviour like this won’t make it better. Be kind and you’ll get further😊
