Becca, you are excellent teacher, very clearly explained and demonstrated. Thank you so much for sharing it. I will almost always chose a quilt with black background, that’s just what I like. I am sure your mom’s quilt will also be very pretty. Happy quilting to you both.
Love this pattern, & both quilts look fantastic! I almost always go with black fabric, so I think your Mom’s quilt would be a nice change for me. And, sorry Becca, but I am a pin error the boarder strips!! Thanks for doing this tutorial!
Borders done by measuring center side to side and top to bottom….otherwise my borders would wave and wave terribly. I am a sucker for lime green but I love your mom’s too…reminds me of cotton candy! Thank you for sharing!
I love your quilt! Most of my adult quilts have some black. I use it a lot for background fabric. We are a messy bunch, and if something runs, it’s not a big deal on black.
I have been patiently waiting for this, thank you!! Just ordered Tula Pink dots and striped neon and am totally going to make this quilt using her fabric!
I love the black because it pops those other colors. I love your mom’s because it reminds me of Spring, one of my favorite seasons here in Florida! It’s a toss-up for me! lol
Both quilts are gorgeous and I honestly cannot choose one. I just make long strips and put borders on without stretching them and then cut it off. I make sure I have the corner cut squared. As a longer armer I know that is the best way to have a corner that doesn’t go downhill when being long armed. Well, in my opinion. 😂
I tend to do what you do as long as I don’t pull the fabric it’s fine. I only measure if it’s a pieced border that has to be a specific length because of the pattern pieces in the border. You should do more tutorials you are really good at them.
Love this quilt and tutorial. I love both of your colorways. I have not actually done a lot of borders because I did them the "right" way and don't like it. So I am definitely trying it your way on the continuum, which I'm still working on. Thank you for the video!
Awesome pattern and tutorial Becca! I also do my borders like you do. I even do my squares like that. As long as I square up each block each step, just as you did, it saves me cutting all those pieces and then keeping track of them. At almost 70 years old, I try to save every step I can. Times a tickin' and I have a lot of quilts I want to do before I cannot any more. Great Job! Have a super blessed week.
I try to spend more time making sure I'm super accurate when I'm piecing the blocks together - but tend to throw caution to the wind when the borders come in LOL
It's so interesting that you have such straight lines, but the contrast makes it look all wonky! I think my presser foot (or my feed dogs?) are not set properly, because every time I try borders your way I get wavy borders! So I measure 3 places, average them together and then cut the borders that way. It takes longer, but I have no issues with my borders this way (unless I measure incorrectly!)
Thank you for showing how to fold the material and cut. I always hoped I was doing it right😂 squaring up after every round is important, I can see that but what a pain in the butt!
I do my borders like you! I also don’t pre wash! And on the rare occasion I use pins…..sometimes I sew over them! Quilt police come and get me 🤪
bahahahahaha!!!!
Great tutorial! I think the to quite-black is the perfect choice once again. Mamma Nancy’ quilt will be beautiful. ❤️

Thank you! 😊

Love your videos and tutorials Becca❤❤❤
Glad you like them!
Thank you so much for this video! Couldn’t get it live, but have all I need. Thanks again Becca! So glad I joined your channel and VIP! ❤
No worries - it wasn't a livestream, just a pre-recorded video!

I'm with you, I grab and sew. Works for me and I've never had a problem.
Maybe I’m not the odd one out here!
@@sewbeccanope-I’m right there with ya 😂😂
Thanks for taking the extra time showing how to square up a block. Big help for us beginners 😊 to understand it more.
You are so welcome!

If it's a special quilt, I measure. If it's a throw around quilt, I put borders on like you do. Your quilt is beautiful
Thank you!
Love both colour ways, the black one would be great for a picnic 🧺 or in the car. Mum’s colour way would be great for the bed or couch ❤❤❤❤
Great tips!
Your quilt is beautiful! Thank you for the tutorial.
You are so welcome!
I have been patiently waiting for this, thank you!! Just ordered Tula Pink dots and striped neon and am totally going to make this quilt using her fabric!
You're very welcome! Enjoy!
I add borders your way. I like your colors a bit better but ask again when they are both complete side by side. Great video Becca, thank you.
Love Mom's colors but I love the way the black gives depth! I put my borders on both ways it depends on how I'm feeling that day/s.
I love the black because it pops those other colors. I love your mom’s because it reminds me of Spring, one of my favorite seasons here in Florida! It’s a toss-up for me! lol
I do think hers will be super pretty when it's done!
I love both the colorways 😊 and also just grab and sew on the borders. Congrats on the new pattern!
Thanks! I love how drastically different both quilts look from just changing the colors!

I like the black
What a fun surprise!!

Thanks for watching!!
I like the black quilt. I never measure borders.Tiffaney mentioned the Robert Kaufman app I’m going to try that next time
Love the blue and pink but the citron color not so much. It's very jarring. Your tutorial is great. I really want to make this quilt now!
I love that quilt pattern ❤❤❤❤
Thank you!

I put my borders on the same way you do.I see no problem with it.
I used to sew and then trim, but lately have cut borders to size, pin from center before I sew.
I love your black background better..
That black background works nicely with the colors I picked!
Hi girls from Norfolk England xxxx
Hello! 👋🏻

All of us long armers appreciate the way you do it. It truly helps prevents waviness.
Fantastic instructions Becca ❤it both are beautiful. I do borders the way Tiffany does them lol
Thank you!
Looks like licorice all sort candies, Xmas candles, going to make all the different ones.sheshell
Really like the colors used, were you working on this when Sewing with Donnell ?
Yes!
Love them both ❤ what is the size of that ruler you used to cut your strips? I put on my borders exactly the same way 🤣
Quilters select 8.5 x 12
Lol I avoid borders. Beautiful quilts
LOL You know...that might be one technique!
With Black
Hi Becca
Hello! 👋🏻
I do the same thing with borders. I don’t measure either. It’s just an extra step
Sounds like I'm not in the minority!
Girl I love them both but the black makes the colors pop
Hello everyone 🌺🌺
Hello! 👋🏻
there both pretty but I like your moms
Are you the only daughter?
Nope! I have 2 sisters and a brother!
Well she called you her favorite 😂😂❤
Thank you for showing how to fold the material and cut. I always hoped I was doing it right😂 squaring up after every round is important, I can see that but what a pain in the butt!
