The Curv is our #1 Robot Vacuum right now! We have finished our tests are working on the video review, but we just announced the update here: vacuumwars.com/vacuum-wars-updates-top-20-robot-vacuums/
I do have all hard floors and I think this robot is great. Hopefully you can review the Narwal Freo Z Ultra, it addresses some of the issues you mentioned but I do think the Freo X is still really good.
The design of the brushroll on this unit more than makes up for its average carpet performance IMO. If someone or a pet in your home has long hair, this is the robot vacuum for you. I was very disappointed that there was no mention of this breakthrough feature at all.
I guess you could get this for hard floors, but the Eufy S1 is also a better mop, has auto empty, and has exceptional obstacle avoidance and navigation for nearly the same price.
I have that robot vacuum cleaner too. And you're absolutely right in your review. But I don't regret buying it. I bought it, as you said, for the mopping feature. Since I'm still used to my old Roomba, I always pick up things from the floor before using the Narwal because both tend to eat up my socks, and that forces me to pick up and not have clutter. :P
I have the Freo X Plus because I don't need the mopping functions. I like the fact it has no external dustbin, it has an internal bag that uses suction to compact and it lasts weeks, unlike the internal bin which needs manual emptying every second run. But this review is accurate - it's small obstacle avoidance is below average/poor. I'm hoping software updates can improve this but perhaps its a hardware issue.
It actually does have carpet boost you just have to edit it in the map, personally I have one and I really like it, but I do agree with the rest of your thoughts

This review of the Narwhal Freo X really blew me away! I can't believe how well it performed in mopping, ranking so high, yet it struggles with basic obstacle avoidance and carpet cleaning! It's amazing how advanced the technology has gotten, but is it worth sacrificing basic features like an auto-empty dustbin? I'm torn! Is this truly the best choice for people with hard floors, or is it just a glimpse of what future robot vacuums can do? Can't wait to see Narwhal’s next move!
Can’t say I care much about obstacle avoidance. I’d rather it try to clean everything before avoiding areas. It’s not hard to clean up after pets/children, but I can understand if others feel differently. I have no use for an app, either. Performance and privacy should matter most for anyone with any sense. Unfortunately it appears to struggle a bit in the performance and convenience(no dust auto empty) departments. While I don’t mind emptying by hand, the price should reflect that. Great review.
Hey, when you do your carpet deep clean tests do you set suction to max? I'd hope the extra suction over a roomba would make up the difference or is the tangle free brush roll that bad for carpeting?
The Curv is our #1 Robot Vacuum right now! We have finished our tests are working on the video review, but we just announced the update here: vacuumwars.com/vacuum-wars-updates-top-20-robot-vacuums/
Woof - for $1400 MSRP, it seems overpriced considering some of the competition has better/more features at either the same or mostly lower price. Solid review video, as always! I'm also interested in Narwal's future lineup, which I wouldn't have even heard of if it wasn't for your channel!
I'm still waiting for a robot vacuum that rates better when it comes to security features. The Freo X is the only vacuum that can do what I need (I have mostly hard floors) without cameras. Even the newest Narwal offering, the Freo Z, has dual cameras. It is great for obstacle avoidance and will probably rank well at the top of your list (based on other reviews I've seen). Sadly, it's now introducing a lot of security concerns (for me). For now, the cons of the Freo X are something I'll have to live with. But I'll wait until the price drops once the Freo Z is off pre-sale 😅
Thank you i have a dog that sheds allot to so their promises of tangle free means alot but not if i have to empty the dust bin all the time. Could you review the roborock curve next?

The biggest problem with any robot vacuum is long hair tangling around the rollers. The Freo X and Z are supposed to be one of the first robot vacuums to have a design that completely prevents this. Please start doing hair tests, as this is the main selling feature of this robot.
I love your reviews but please be more specific about the hair problem. This brand is the only one without any hair stucked in the brush why not mention it?

Love my little freo we got here for the price and it has done a great job with the mapping here and adjusting as needed.

Not sure I understand why you chose the Narwal Freo X instead on the Freo Z to test? The Z seems to address the complaints you had

cant wait to see your review of the Roborock Qrevo curve. the suspension lift for tall thresholds is what im particularly interested in on that one
It's bad, the suspension system creates a gap between the robot and the floor and the vacuum power is much worse than previous versions
