    Wow…your avocado tree is full of fruits despite the heat wave. Very nice! Great video! Thanks for sharing tips on watering and fertilizing in the summer 👍❤️

    Good video Jeff. I have a Has that was small and neglected when I moved into my home in late April 2018. I began weeding, watering and fertilizing and it took off. The following spring it flowered well but all fruit fell off before setting. The following year 2020 we had about 200-250 fruit set out 1,000’s that made it to a pea size. Last spring we had about 250-300 set. I completely agree with you that doing a deep watering before or at time of onset of heatwave help keeps the fruit from dropping. I have no irrigation in this tree. I just put a hose out every 2-4 weeks (depending on weather) in Spring and Summer and deep water for about an hour. I know you can overwater but this schedule seems to work for my soil and tree.

    Which variety drops the most? I have a Carmen and Sharwil. They seem to be doing okay in the heat, but no fruit yet. I want them to get larger before I let them set fruit.

      The Big black side was loaded wayyy more than the tree could hold, i had planned on thinning it, but nature took care of it. It dropped the most.
      I think only one or 2 mex grandes fell and none of the queens dropped.

    I noticed you have a few palms in front yard. One looks like a bizmarkia nobilis. Are you going to plant that in the ground? Can you tell us what other palms you have there?

    Hi Jeff, I have a little cado in a pot i bought last year, i want to change containers, what type of soil will work, i believe i've asked you before but i couldn't find that video. i want to make my own soil.

    • @TropicalGardenGuy
      @TropicalGardenGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For short term repotting I use miracle grow moisture control potting soil.
      when I keep a tree in a container for a long time, I use 1 part sand, 1 part peat moss, 1 part perlite.

      Thanks, I think I might have to prop a few branches up, looks like the drop is slowing down.

    I'm wondering if small birds may be responsible for tiny set-fruit falling off. It might be that birds are foraging about for insects, and maybe they are stepping on the fruit stems. I'm going to put some netting around some set fruit bunches to see what happens. New Zealand.

    Hi Jeff I Live In RiverBank and i Have a beautiful Avocado tree From Seed It's about 6 Years Old First Year Producing fruit big big large avocados post which are starting to drop and the very beginning small ones were dropping now some of the bigger ones are dropping My branches are bending I was wondering if that might cause the drop edge I just purchased a tree from home depot last year and I think that's why my tree got fruit this year this year just a thought any inputhought any input will be appreciated thanks again

    • @TropicalGardenGuy
      @TropicalGardenGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hard to say but if the fruit were set last year they may be dropping because they are mature.
      Small fruit drop is a way a healthy tree thins itself…
      I might be able to offer you more accurate info if I saw a picture of the tree.

    I guess a 10% fruit drop is pretty acceptable when you have so many still on the tree 👍. I'd be happy to have 10% of the fruit HOLD on any of my subtropicals or tropicals lol

    Cool down tree by spraying with water every 2 hours when temps go over 100 if the city wont fine you for watering.

      @TropicalGardenGuy  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No need, our summer temps don’t bother my trees. It’s the direct sun that scorches bare branches.
      Btw… my monster avocado is in full bloom!

    My poor tree is losing its leaves, and those that are not dropping are completely wilting-sad. To hot here in Stockton, got mine on the porch-just not working.

      that sux!
      My tree lost a few fruit, but lets face it, 12 days above 100f this year is a little out of the ordinary . This said, it looks like ill still get a lot of fruit.
