I am looking for sources for scion varieties. I would love to try grafting with your favorite giant avocado-

    would you be open to selling/ sharing your bud branches with me for my first grafting experience?
    thank you for your great videos. Your yard is amazing. Truly a garden of Eden.

      @@TropicalGardenGuy I have a neighbor that has a tree that looks very much like an avocado tree with the leaves almost identical of an avocado tree. He acedently broke the top tip of it and it started releasing a white milky liquid. I know some avocado trees release dried white powder when it's a mature tree from broken steams. He's having a hard time identifying it.

    How old is your seedling rootstock? Why did you cut the tip of the scion off? What will happen if you don't cut the tip off?

    • @TropicalGardenGuy
      @TropicalGardenGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Roootstock was 1 year old, seed was planted last fall. In the heat, the soft tip of scions tend to dry out , in spring I leave them on

    • @TropicalGardenGuy
      @TropicalGardenGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi peter, This type of tape is very easy to tear, it fails apart naturally , other types you might have to remove after a couple of new leaves have formed

    Hi Jeff ,thanks for sharing
    I have a problem with my avocado grafts, and it is that they do not stick well, sometimes they have lasted green for even 6 months, but then they have not stuck and have dried up
    What kind of cutting would you get?
    wood of the same age, without lignifying? semi-lingual?? or from the previous year, already lignified?
    I've heard all kinds of versions about this ,And also on which wood of the pattern would you stick better, the lignified, the semi-lignified, or the younger one without lignifying?
    thank you

    My several questions to you as I go along why grafting? and comment is if the Avocado has been grown for hundred of years and nature has taken is course to grow the Avocado of its own taste in their variety to acquire its own quality and flavor is it necessary this to be done and when did this grafting evolution started.😊

    What I still don't understand is the fact that you have to seal and wrap the top of the scion to not dry out. They contain the buts that I want to grow but with the tape it's not possible. How do I know, when to take the tape off so the buts can grow
