This game is basically the result of mixing Resident Evil 4 with the fear most people have of insects. In Japan, it was released as a launch title under the name of Necro-Nesia. The plot is about a group of travelers in their mid-20s apparently, who ended up stranded and so they landed on some island that is populated by mutant insects and creatures, and now they have to find a way to escape from that place safely. The whole plot is told in two parts, one with a fake ending and another which has TWO real endings depending on whether you are playing in NG or NG+ mode. And for those who are asking about the gameplay, yes, it is literally RE4 in terms of absolutely everything: close combat, ranged weapons, shaking off of an enemy attack, though without the inventory system limitation from RE4 where you have to properly arrange what you have in order to place more items. Plus that it has a lot of quality-of-life improvements over the original Japanese version, such as the ability to use your Nunchuk stick to aim as long as A+B are pressed and also the ability to equip more than one close combat or ranged weapon with C button in the weapon selection screen, these weapons can be cycled through on the fly by pressing the Z button. Another addition to the localized version are the bonus challenges aka sub-missions, e.g. getting X items or killing X enemies, defeating a boss within a certain amount of time, getting a special weapon or item, etc. There are 57 in total though you only need at least 30 to be completed for a S rank here, btw ranks are also an addition compared to the JP original, because you are awarded with a Samurai Sword and a Death Scythe to use right at the beginning of NG+ if an A or S rank overall is gotten. Oh and forgot to mention you also get a few special items after collecting a certain amount of Purple Fragments which enemies often leave except for maggots. These items are easily spotted by a purple star marker on the map and are often inside a box, equipping any of them improves the player's defense (blue), attack (red), balancing (white), evasion (black) and even 'infinite' ammo (purple). Three of them require either lots of grinding near the mantis nests which is a painful task, or by playing NG+ over and over again until you max them out. So I decided to use a full save to show those off right after credits, and also to extract the alternate ending that is also shown here as well. I was surprised no one had documented about this alternate ending before this video went live, but here it is and the condition is simple, just beat the game on NG+ mode no matter which difficulty you picked up.

The game company's name reminds me of the Scott Pilgrim Line. "All our shows are secret shows". Ad right off the bat she picks up a giant bug, along with a guy with some of the worse gun safety I have ever seen. This will go well.
The whole "Bug Island" name came from the western version, apparently. In Japan, the island is called "Beelzebub Island", and the game itself is called "Necro-Nesia" (I guess like an "island of the dead" or something). They probably gave it that title in the west to sell it as more of a B-movie sorta thing.
I still have this game from back in 2014!!!!! It's honestly a great spooky graphical game very underrated wouldn't mind getting another wii just for this game!!!!!!! Emulation can be too difficult half the time never beat it!!!!!
Thank you for uploading this! No commentary, no broken down into parts just a longplay of the game that scared me as a kid! So what are your thoughts of it Mr. Longplay?

They're owned by Eidos Interactive, and has also published other titles using that name including Touch the Dead for the DS.
This game was so wild. It's called Escape from Bug Island when it should be called Escape from Mutant Island given all the different creatures.

Why is this rated M when it's Pegi 12 in Europe?
Probably because of the many similarities with RE4. Considering it was a launch title in Japan and the Wii version of RE4 came out months later.
@@TheKageDFX While Cursed Mountain is Pegi 16 in Europe, it's rated M
Echo Night Beyond on the PS2 is rated T in the US while in Europe is PEGI 7+. These age ratings are not always 100% accurate.

Is it as bad as critics made it out to be at its release?
I'll judge after experiencing it. I don't care about critics.

Great video but it would be so much better if the sound effect could be turned off lol
