ACC | Do I Belong in a Low Fuel Motorsport Top Split? LFM GT3 @ Misano

- It’s been a long time coming, but I’m back in Assetto Corsa Competizione on Low Fuel Motorsport for this Coach Dave GT3 Sprint race at Misano.
This is likely to be one INCREDIBLY tough challenge. I’ve not driven in ACC for more than 5 weeks, it’s a track I’ve never raced before, and I’ve been placed in the top split - what could possibly go wrong?!
My qualifying time of 1.35.3 is the fastest I can possibly manage around here, yet still it’s only good enough for P22 on the grid. Even reaching the top 20 is going to be a struggle…

Love watching your content, Chris! We are comparatively close in lap times in every track I've watched you do, and I enjoy seeing your reactions to yellow flag incidents to see if I would have responded the same. You seem to edge me out on the correct reactions and because of that - I try to learn from you!
Ahh thank you mate, maybe we’ll end up in the same split on a grid sometime. As for the big yellow flag incidents in front of me in this one, I think it was more down to VERY good luck rather than judgement, that I avoided them!

Good effort Chris buddy - curious decisions being made by various drivers in this one! Seemingly pushing too hard? In the context of a top split race a really good finish!
By curious decisions, I take it you mean… “there’s someone right in front of me, but there’s a chance ghosting might be switched on in this server so I’ll just try driving right through them” 🤦🏻♂️ Crazy how many times it happened. I think every incident around was caused by it!

Cheers Tony, yeah that was exactly the approach to this one. Not many entries, so as soon as I saw I’d be on the main grid with the fastest guys, I knew not to set any targets with where I might finish!

5:38 the smart thing to do would be not to defend, and let Lenz pass then do your best to keep up w/ & follow his lines for as long as you could. You would have lost less time to the cars in front of you & less likely to be challenged by more drivers. You might have even learned something from Lenz & improved your pace.
I think if the driver # diff is 15+, just let them past. I know it's one thing for me to say that and another to have the thought & discipline at the time. There is a good chance I would have made the same move to defend 🙃
That's one thing I think that separates those are occationally fast vs great, and the importance of fitness for racers. Those two things could make the difference in being able to calmly make a quick enough decision when put under stress in the moment.

Thank you Andy. Yeah, ACC is always the hardest to get back into after time away, and the new track certainly didn’t help! As soon as I knew I was in with the fast lads, I ditched any targets of where I wanted to finish, and just went out to enjoy it 😃
That was an awesome drive against a much strong field Chris. I find that these races where you're up against it tend to be more rewarding 👍🏻
Yeah I agree. It also means you’re less worried about setting a finishing position target and just taking whatever you can. Not very often I’ve finished outside the top 15 and still increased my rating!

Thank you Pete, yeah ideally I’d have raced later in the day when there were more splits, so I could have found a grid of more similar abilities. But glad I went in for this one, still good fun despite being blitzed on pace!
They BOP'd the crap out of the BMW at Misano.
I did wonder that when I saw so few people choose to drive it! Seemed to be all McLarens and Ferraris

Thank you mate. Nope, no paid setups used. Occasionally, I’ll use a free one if I can find it on TH-cam somewhere. But generally I’ll make the best of the default setups and just change tyre pressures and TC 👍
Good watch. Tough to stay competitive if you don't race in the sim with regularity. I am way off the pace in ACC, I just don't play it enough. You did well considering not being familiar with the track and not having a lot of time in the sim recently. Better than I would have done :)
Yup, always the issue with ACC. The only time I ever get halfway competitive in it is when I race it for multiple consecutive weeks at a time. It really is the hardest sim just to dip in and out of. Made a change to go into a race with no target or expectation though, and was enjoyable. Cheers
I've just signed up for lfm but I have to get my safety rating up b4 I can take my test ive had acc for about 4 days not far off the required level now

this race is one of the reasons I've moved on to Lemans Ultimate , too many idiots taking too many chances and the ACC physics and in-game penalty system doesn't make them pay for reckless driving , the idiot in the red Ferrari wouldn't have been able to dive bomb repeatedly in LMU , he wouldv'e locked his wheels and burned a flat spot into his tryes , he would've received some sort of in-game penalty and the LMU physics would've trigged him off the track for aggressive contact , you want clean racing? mixed class endurance racing on LMU is where it's at , the LMU sprint races can get a little touchy but not near as bad as ACC
Yeah, I definitely saw enough promise in my second LMU race to give it another shot. I’ll definitely be back on it. For this week, I thought I’d try ACC again as it was such a long time since I last raced it. But you’re right, a lot of the contacts in this race were pretty poor. People not being able to race closely and safely to the car in front.

That was decent under the circumstances. Misano is not a track I particularly like.
No, it seems like it would take a LOT of learning to master. Very technical, wrong lines seem to cost loads of time, and you need to really push those track limits. Definitely not a track that suits my style!
@chrisrogerssimracing Unfortunately I'm out of action. Suspected motherboard failure last week. The experience on the laptop isn't brilliant, so not bothered this week.
@@daviddavies3637 Oh no, what a nightmare. How long will that take to be fixed/replaced? Its been a run of tracks on ACC that I don’t know… Kyalami last week was the same, I’ve never driven it and I’m reluctant to spend my limited free time trying to learn a new circuit. Next week is Donington, which I’m more familiar with.
@@chrisrogerssimracing I did buy a cheap motherboard, only to find out after I fitted it that it didn't support Ryzens older than the 3000 series. Couldn't believe it. 😂 So saving up for a new Ryzen 5 5000 series. It was a shame as I picked up a couple of podiums around Paul Ricard at the start of the week. Tried it on my laptop but had to drop resolution to get a half decent frame rate (GTX1650 Max Q inside it). Did manage a decent race after I did that but span out. But it's not as much fun.
You've never driven Kyalami? That's always been a weak track for me. I remember Misano being the license track for LFM when I first joined and couldn't get the time on it. Did eventually manage it when they changed the track to Hungaroring.
@@daviddavies3637Yeah… Kyalami, Paul Ricard, Misano and COTA are the four ACC tracks I’ve never driven anywhere. Just bad luck that three of them came in successive weeks on the schedule! At least I’ve learned Misano a bit this week (but still way more time to be found if I figure out where to use the track limits more). I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you can get a new motherboard soon mate 🤞

How could you keep up with those tire pressures. Sort that shit out.
I’ve had to give up bothering too much about tyre pressures. I don’t have the time to do lots of practice laps and fine-tune them, so I just make an educated guess based on my qualifying session data. But in this race, I thought they were pretty much ok… 26-27psi is the sweet spot, no?
@@chrisrogerssimracing Those tire icon are deflated in the middle. That cant be a good thing. Imo.
@@djuro14 Ahh I see what you mean. I wouldn’t even know how to sort that. Maybe I was just sliding too much in the early laps, or taking too much kerb. I’m sure a decent setup would help it, but I’m not really a serious enough ACC player to worry about those 👍

They show deflated in a wide range of pressure. Weird!
Drivers like Santos, are one of the reasons I gave up on ACC. They always think they are better than they actually are. They always seem to run out of talent and awareness.....
Very much so. He finished down in 27th. His lap times were identical to mine, but his rating is a lot lower, so I’m guessing he runs into that sort of trouble quite often 🤣
Appalling racing. What a shame lfm has become.
Yeah, the racecraft wasn’t great. It seemed EVERY crash was caused by the drivers behind getting too close and hitting the cars in front. Mostly while cornering. Very careless.
Try the GT4 racing, and leave all the casuals to divebomb each other in the GT3's
