I’m so sorry about Rufus. Please report this to local law enforcement as there may be others in the area experiencing similar problems and issues. An investigation is needed.

When I lived in Oregon I remember one of my neighbors had a Clydesdale horse that was shot in his pasture during hunting season. People who do such things need to face serious jail time.

R.I.P. Rufus. The scary part of this too, is the fact they say someone who would kill animals like that are a prelude to doing much worse as time goes by. Offer a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of who did that. Someone might just tell on someone, especially if there is a reward plus their conscience is eating at them.

I haven’t watched your channel before but this was difficult to witness, and my heart goes out to your family. Irresponsible hunters are the cause of so many animal deaths, and poachers as well. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was shot for his fleece, but they took off when they realized they couldn’t get into the pen. It happens in Amish country where I live, people poach for all sorts of odd reasons, and some people are just sick. Hunters shot my aunts dog. It’s hard for me to feel safe in the woods anymore with stuff like this. Rest Easy, Rufus. You were obviously loved.

I’m so sorry that you lost Rufus. Perhaps if you know someone with a metal detector, they can scan his body to see if there’s a bullet. If there is one, but then you’ll at least it’s not safe for any animals there. Maybe the sheriff’s office could help because if he was shot, I’m sure he wasn’t the only one shot in the area.

After my 30 years as a police officer there are no coincidences. I would have a strong desire for justice. I would have a necropsy done on Rufus and either put video on the location with 24 hr surveillance and protection for the animals. Keep up the the great videos Daniel. Focus that sorrow and anger into solving this criminal activity and maybe Abe another animal from the same fate.

I agree, and that's why I'm afraid to leave my house. I live in what used to be a small town in Arkansas. That's why we moved here many years ago-because it was a nice, small town, and it was close to our grown children and grandchildren BUT in the last 5 years, our nice, small town has nearly tripled in size and has been elevated to a small city, no longer a town! I no longer feel safe with everything going on in the world, and people are just turning into monsters and like you said "they're multiplying". So, I only leave my house for doctors appointments or vet appointments. I'm 60 years old and have been disabled for many years now, but I used to go go go anywhere, and I loved it! Not anymore...terrifies me!
I, too, am sorry you lost your beautiful family member, Rufus. Being a retired State Trooper, you'll figure it out and bring swift punishment to the person or persons who did this horrendous act of cowardice to a purely innocent animal. I also believe that lsaac being stolen and Rufus being killed were done by the same person/persons!

Yes, we had people doing that in our area too! I now keep my livestock away from the road at night. Sometimes I only let them out for 2-3 hour in front pastures, things are getting crazy! Sorry for your loss.

Sad that there weren't camera along that stretch. I'd love to see the person responsible prosecuted. I wonder if it could be someone you arrested? I hope there's a way to legally deal with this issue. Rufus was "Mr. Personality." I sure wouldn't risk another animal until the mystery is solved.

Doubt if it was someone that Dan arrested in his previous career. More than likely, someone who hates God and knows that the local church runs that youth camp. The persecution and tribulation of the Church includes people who have no love or respect of life, whether it be human or animal, just as Father told us would be the condition of the world at the end of His Church Age.
Or put cams up on the back side to catch whoever did it. They will be back.
Years ago, my brother owned a quarter horse and rehomed her to a pasture closer to our home in Gladewater. After a couple months, the mare and her colt settled in. Then, one day, he noticed she had her limping. She had been shot. This occurred during deer hunting season. When the police were informed, they said someone probably thought "she", the mare, was a deer. WTH!! Conclusion: Everyone on the Earth is not sane. They're a few nuts running around with guns. And, apparently, they don't the differnce between a deer or a quarter horse nor do they care. I understand your pain and anxiety. Rufus, may be gone, but his life shall longer than his tragic end. As the person that hastened his demise?, well, ... God has his reward in Glory, too.
@Lindsay I do agree that bullets go far and there's a good chance it's a stray shot at something other than their animal. However I do believe it's ok to say what you're suspicious of, as long as you remember that you don't know for sure until you have proof, and sometimes knowing for sure isn't gonna happen. There's a lot of times that keeping your words to yourself is best, but sometimes it's ok to say what you think as long as you remember there's a chance you're wrong.

In the area I live in, the farmers were on high alert cause people were shooting their cows at night. My cousins almost got shot at because there was miscommunication as they were hunting for feral 🐖. But they cleared ot all up quickly as farmer also requested before too to hunt some known feral Pigs in the area.
Inconsiderate and cruel that’s why people do it they get a kick out of it it’s like someone shooting your dog that’s in your own yard.

Well, I cried for you Daniel ! It’s so hard for me to think that someone would want to hurt a sweet defenseless animal. But again , there are some pretty mean and hurtful people out there. Someone may have done it just because they are mean and hurtful people. If there are people out there that can go into a grade school and kill small children there is someone that can kill Rufus. Just saw this video first time, I'm sorry for your loss. I know how it feeling to lose a pet, my dog named Nico pass away from old age he was 14-years-old. There are sign that show that a animal was shot but sometime it's not all the case, for example. Blood stain fur/wool but since Rufus didn't have a sign of blood it's probably the wool keeping the blood from getting through the wool (sometime) so there maybe a bullet hole in Rufus that couldn't heal because of the bullet and infection. My prays goes out to you and your big family (human and animal family).

My brother once shot 2 dogs who kept attacking his cutting horses, it was upsetting them so much and their hocks had wounds! I hated to see the dogs shot but what can one do. He had spoken to the owner and warned him, if they came on my brother's land he'd shoot them. The guy tried to get the law involved but they said my brother was right on. Owners....control your animals!

About two weeks ago I was outside it was dark . I’m doing my daily routine of feeding our two goats , pig , chickens , ducks and dogs and also checking for ripped tomatoes. That entire time my two dogs never barked but then they both started looking in the same direction and barking and probably 30 seconds later the loudest single gun shot went off. Now I have to mention that I do live in the country so I hear gun shots here and there but I was how loud this one was . Someone walked up on my property and shot a gun! Not only so I have animals but two kids ages five and one . You handled it way better than I would ! People are sick in the world !

So sorry about Rufus, I can't imagine the pain and frustration of such a senseless loss. I don't know whats wrong with people these days. We are building a house in Tuskahoma on 40 acres and have had theft after theft, cameras, building supplies and recently a skid steer that our builder left over night. We even put up cellular cameras and they shot the cameras out. We live on our property now but rarely do we all leave at the same time for fear of coming back to find we've been robbed again. Not the life we envisioned when we moved to the country and it make us angry.
That is terrible!! Praying the people responsible for stealing from you are exposed and felt with.
Our country is starting to look like third world countries that have high crime rates. We need to take a lesson from New Zealand, who have tougher laws against crime and gun laws

Omg that sounds so horrible. I have always lived in the country and i love it for that very reason. We don’t have to worry much. It’s peaceful for the most part. I can’t imagine having all that going on. I hope all that stops. This world just isn’t what it use to be. God bless u and your family.
My father works in construction and they rented a skid steer and someone stole it within the same week after renting it. Thankfully there were two GPSs on it. The losers ripped one of the GPSs off but the other one they never found or knew about it. Such a good idea to have two on all equipment. So when my dad pulled up to this nice gated community and his job site at 5am in the morning they looked it up and it was already 4 hours away in Houston at some job site. And cops were watching it. So crazy. These losers nowadays just want to steal nobody is honest anymore.
