When I lived in Oregon I remember one of my neighbors had a Clydesdale horse that was shot in his pasture during hunting season. People who do such things need to face serious jail time.

I’m so sorry that you lost Rufus. Perhaps if you know someone with a metal detector, they can scan his body to see if there’s a bullet. If there is one, but then you’ll at least it’s not safe for any animals there. Maybe the sheriff’s office could help because if he was shot, I’m sure he wasn’t the only one shot in the area.

Many years ago I was invited to go deer hunting with a small group. We spent the morning in the bush but were unsuccessful. While walking back to the home of one of the group, two beautiful blue herons bit the dust. An Ospreys nest was filled with lead and two stop signs and one other road sign gave their lives for the pleasure of one dufus who just had to pull the trigger and kill something. Sadly, they walk among us. There is no explanation for their heartlessness, poor sportsmanship and need to kill something, anything. Needless to say, I never went near the group again. Sorry about the loss.

My sister had a 17 hand high palomino horse- he was pretty old, and she had him in a pasture with some other horses in Houston- and someone shot him dead- horrible- she was devastated- so horrible. My friends brother shot a horse with a purple blanket on it thinking it was a deer…..it was on the news. Told him don’t ever let your brother hunt again….thing about it is his brother is very intelligent in school but those kinds of people (especially ones with certain political beliefs) are illiterate when it comes to anything else.
I haven’t watched your channel before but this was difficult to witness, and my heart goes out to your family. Irresponsible hunters are the cause of so many animal deaths, and poachers as well. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was shot for his fleece, but they took off when they realized they couldn’t get into the pen. It happens in Amish country where I live, people poach for all sorts of odd reasons, and some people are just sick. Hunters shot my aunts dog. It’s hard for me to feel safe in the woods anymore with stuff like this. Rest Easy, Rufus. You were obviously loved.
Yes, we had people doing that in our area too! I now keep my livestock away from the road at night. Sometimes I only let them out for 2-3 hour in front pastures, things are getting crazy! Sorry for your loss.

Sad that there weren't camera along that stretch. I'd love to see the person responsible prosecuted. I wonder if it could be someone you arrested? I hope there's a way to legally deal with this issue. Rufus was "Mr. Personality." I sure wouldn't risk another animal until the mystery is solved.
Doubt if it was someone that Dan arrested in his previous career. More than likely, someone who hates God and knows that the local church runs that youth camp. The persecution and tribulation of the Church includes people who have no love or respect of life, whether it be human or animal, just as Father told us would be the condition of the world at the end of His Church Age.
Years ago, my brother owned a quarter horse and rehomed her to a pasture closer to our home in Gladewater. After a couple months, the mare and her colt settled in. Then, one day, he noticed she had her limping. She had been shot. This occurred during deer hunting season. When the police were informed, they said someone probably thought "she", the mare, was a deer. WTH!! Conclusion: Everyone on the Earth is not sane. They're a few nuts running around with guns. And, apparently, they don't the differnce between a deer or a quarter horse nor do they care. I understand your pain and anxiety. Rufus, may be gone, but his life shall longer than his tragic end. As the person that hastened his demise?, well, ... God has his reward in Glory, too.
@Lindsay I do agree that bullets go far and there's a good chance it's a stray shot at something other than their animal. However I do believe it's ok to say what you're suspicious of, as long as you remember that you don't know for sure until you have proof, and sometimes knowing for sure isn't gonna happen. There's a lot of times that keeping your words to yourself is best, but sometimes it's ok to say what you think as long as you remember there's a chance you're wrong. I'm so sorry for everyone's losses here, I've been reading all of these comments and it's really terrible to see how often these things happen, intentional or otherwise. I’m really, really sorry. Don’t blame yourself for not bringing Rufus home sooner. It’s natural with loss no matter what the circumstances to want to do that but you guys give all of your animals a wonderful home. After my 30 years as a police officer there are no coincidences. I would have a strong desire for justice. I would have a necropsy done on Rufus and either put video on the location with 24 hr surveillance and protection for the animals. Keep up the the great videos Daniel. In the area I live in, the farmers were on high alert cause people were shooting their cows at night. My cousins almost got shot at because there was miscommunication as they were hunting for feral 🐖. But they cleared ot all up quickly as farmer also requested before too to hunt some known feral Pigs in the area.

I agree, and that's why I'm afraid to leave my house. I live in what used to be a small town in Arkansas. That's why we moved here many years ago-because it was a nice, small town, and it was close to our grown children and grandchildren BUT in the last 5 years, our nice, small town has nearly tripled in size and has been elevated to a small city, no longer a town! I no longer feel safe with everything going on in the world, and people are just turning into monsters and like you said "they're multiplying". So, I only leave my house for doctors appointments or vet appointments. I'm 60 years old and have been disabled for many years now, but I used to go go go anywhere, and I loved it! Not anymore...terrifies me! I, too, am sorry you lost your beautiful family member, Rufus. Being a retired State Trooper, you'll figure it out and bring swift punishment to the person or persons who did this horrendous act of cowardice to a purely innocent animal. I also believe that lsaac being stolen and Rufus being killed were done by the same person/persons!

My sister had a 17 hand high palomino horse- he was pretty old, and she had him in a pasture with some other horses in Houston- and someone shot him dead- horrible- she was devastated- so horrible. Sorry for your loss- evil is really out there in human form. Prayers. Hope they catch whoever did this.
My friends brother shot a horse with a purple blanket on it thinking it was a deer…..it was on the news. Told him don’t ever let your brother hunt again….thing about it is his brother is very intelligent in school but those kinds of people (especially ones with certain political beliefs) are illiterate when it comes to anything else.

I haven’t watched your channel before but this was difficult to witness, and my heart goes out to your family. Irresponsible hunters are the cause of so many animal deaths, and poachers as well. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was shot for his fleece, but they took off when they realized they couldn’t get into the pen. It happens in Amish country where I live, people poach for all sorts of odd reasons, and some people are just sick. Hunters shot my aunts dog. It’s hard for me to feel safe in the woods anymore with stuff like this. Rest Easy, Rufus. You were obviously loved.
Yes, we had people doing that in our area too! I now keep my livestock away from the road at night. Sometimes I only let them out for 2-3 hour in front pastures, things are getting crazy! Sorry for your loss.

Sad that there weren't camera along that stretch. I'd love to see the person responsible prosecuted. I wonder if it could be someone you arrested? I hope there's a way to legally deal with this issue. Rufus was "Mr. Personality." I sure wouldn't risk another animal until the mystery is solved.

Doubt if it was someone that Dan arrested in his previous career. More than likely, someone who hates God and knows that the local church runs that youth camp. The persecution and tribulation of the Church includes people who have no love or respect of life, whether it be human or animal, just as Father told us would be the condition of the world at the end of His Church Age.
Or put cams up on the back side to catch whoever did it. They will be back.
Years ago, my brother owned a quarter horse and rehomed her to a pasture closer to our home in Gladewater. After a couple months, the mare and her colt settled in. Then, one day, he noticed she had her limping. She had been shot. This occurred during deer hunting season. When the police were informed, they said someone probably thought "she", the mare, was a deer. WTH!! Conclusion: Everyone on the Earth is not sane. They're a few nuts running around with guns. And, apparently, they don't the differnce between a deer or a quarter horse nor do they care. I understand your pain and anxiety. Rufus, may be gone, but his life shall longer than his tragic end. As the person that hastened his demise?, well, ... God has his reward in Glory, too.
@Lindsay I do agree that bullets go far and there's a good chance it's a stray shot at something other than their animal. However I do believe it's ok to say what you're suspicious of, as long as you remember that you don't know for sure until you have proof, and sometimes knowing for sure isn't gonna happen. There's a lot of times that keeping your words to yourself is best, but sometimes it's ok to say what you think as long as you remember there's a chance you're wrong.

I’m really, really sorry. Don’t blame yourself for not bringing Rufus home sooner. It’s natural with loss no matter what the circumstances to want to do that but you guys give all of your animals a wonderful home. I’ve had a lot of recent personal loss and I can’t imagine what a sock in the gut this was. RIP Rufus. We all love you Buddy!!

I would have a necropsy done on Rufus and either put video on the location with 24 hr surveillance and protection for the animals. Keep up the the great videos Daniel. Focus that sorrow and anger into solving this criminal activity and maybe Abe another animal from the same fate.

In the area I live in, the farmers were on high alert cause people were shooting their cows at night. My cousins almost got shot at because there was miscommunication as they were hunting for feral 🐖. But they cleared ot all up quickly as farmer also requested before too to hunt some known feral Pigs in the area.
Inconsiderate and cruel that’s why people do it they get a kick out of it it’s like someone shooting your dog that’s in your own yard.

I agree, and that's why I'm afraid to leave my house. I live in what used to be a small town in Arkansas. That's why we moved here many years ago-because it was a nice, small town, and it was close to our grown children and grandchildren BUT in the last 5 years, our nice, small town has nearly tripled in size and has been elevated to a small city, no longer a town! I no longer feel safe with everything going on in the world, and people are just turning into monsters and like you said "they're multiplying". So, I only leave my house for doctors appointments or vet appointments. I'm 60 years old and have been disabled for many years now, but I used to go go go anywhere, and I loved it! Not anymore...terrifies me!
