I think Peaches is in love with you. I know diddly squat about bison but it looks as if your animals are excellent examples of Plains Bison. They're beautiful, with wonderful conformation, and I think they''ll stand up to any bison at the sale. I love how Elenor is kind of like your pet bison. She's special and lucky to have y'all as owners.
So proud of you Dusty, Marissa and Brookes and all the family and friends for all the work you have put into this journey and the sale of the Bison !! You’ve come a long way and I thank you dearly for letting us be on this journey with you !! The Bison all look beautiful and healthy ! Big Joe is so handsome with his big fluffy coat on !! And seeing them come up to you on the truck is sweet .. I know you are very cautious! It’s amazing the way they know what the truck is for and the cubes !! Good choices on the sale animals.. they all look beautiful !! Keep on Ranching and can’t wait to see what 2025 brings !!
I fully agree with the above text..Mohave thoroughly enjoyed watching you & your family raise bison. Have followed the buffalo history a long time in my 90 years. They once saved many Native Americans, pioneer, and city folks with their hides, meat, horns, and whole body parts. I’ve loved movies that filmed the buffalo. I appreciate the film Keven Costner made including the buffalo. I have a western decorated house that has prints of the bison. My talented granddaughter in her younger age drew me a picture in pastels of an active buffalo. May God keep the bison healthy, and your ranch with more Red Dogs. Have a good sale, Dusty. ..from East Texas..
It is very interesting to listen to all you do for your bison herd. And I love watching you interact with Big Joe and Peaches. And Elanore. They are wild animals and dangerous but you have spent so much time with them that theyt know they are safe with you. I hope the sale og your bison goes well for you. God Bless.
Would you go a little bit into the difference in Plains Bison and Woods Bison and why you don’t want Woods Bison please? I am clueless and love it when you educate us.
Beautiful yearlings. This is very exciting, I wish you all the best. I love following you around on chores and just having a peaceful time watching the bison. I can't see genetics, but I have to say Dunbar is sporting the woods hairdo right now. 😂
Dusty what would happen if you enlarged the horse correl. Then moved Elenore up with the horses. Then she wouldn’t be alone and hopefully not picked on.
Yes, I thought I did see a Bison around :28 that was with the horses. I was thinking it was Eleanor and was hoping to see if anything was said about that, but didn’t hear anything. Maybe they weren’t in the same coral.
There is a lot more to do than people know about what goes on getting ready for the GTSS. We were there in 18,19 and 20, do I miss all the people that go there. Good luck with the sale, and don't worry about the animals while your there, Bob and his Buffaleros will take good care of them.
If you are interested in more details about genetics, Allen Williams, PhD is a geneticist and regenerative grazier and regen speaker. Lots of youtube talks with him on genetics and regen principles...
Dusty, she's really checking you out while sitten on the flatbed!!! If I haven't said it over time of my watching your journey with these majestic creatures, "You have a great hell of a herd of bison!!!!" Your very lucky to have 2 beautiful girls to go along that journey with you as well!!! And the range they roam is just breath taking!!!!!
I wonder if she was thinking "Wow! Look how close I am to a human! Cool!!" I started watching this some 20 minute after you posted it, and the thumbs up have climbed by the hundreds is less than 10 minutes! Just in case you ever wonder if we wait for your videos. LOL Always enjoy them.
Enjoy watching videos you make! I'm so glad you treat the bison like animals. They can change into hurtful animals in a moment! They're nice and I'm glad you are raising them BUT you remember they are still animals. Love you all stay safe!
I am impressed with the high standard of responsibility the Bison industry is aiming for. Would that other areas of animal husbandry shot for the same standards👍
Most farmers do the best that they can and know how to do. Unfortunately, since ww2 ended, the big ag, big pharm $$$ influence has pushed farms to get big, use lots of chemicals (fertilizers, pesticides, insecticides, ...) and the ag educators push these ideas at training meetings. Regenerative groups like Understanding Ag and individual farmers who offer internship opportunities (Joel Salatin, Greg Judy, Gabe Brown,...). Getting the regenerative ways to those whose families have done high input takes a lot to switch off the inputs and into regenerative methods. Allen Williams, PhD, a geneticist and regen rancher, and regen speaker is one of a few who talk about transitioning glfrom high input to regen.
Dusty thanks so much for the info on tracking the lineage of the bison. I'm always learning new things. Bison are fascinating animals. I love how they respond to you and your family. Keep on ranching and sharing your herd. 😊
Hi Dusty, Marissa and Brooke. Great video. Horses are looking good. Big Joe is magnificent. The herd is growing fast. Love the way yall take great care of your bison. God bless and love yall ❤❤
I understand your intention for the turkey long term and it's very commendable. However, as long as they have been fed by humans and penned up, I wonder if they stand a chance of being re-united to the wild after you get sufficient eggs to incubate. My very uneducated guess is they would stay close to their barn/pen even if released looking for provided food each day. Close to my home, there is an eagle nesting pen that the state wildlife agency maintains. They feed the young or injured eagles from the back of the pen and never come in direct contact with the eagles. They are also fed their natural diet from birth. They open the river facing side of the pen on the high bluff to allow the eagles to naturally fly away into the wild. Thanks, and an update on the turkey flock would be appreciated.
How often are eartags lost at Cross Timbers? Have you ever spotted lost tags? On our family's dairy farm, we used an RFID button on the top curve and a preprinted large tag in each ear's center. We kept blank tags and tag pen handy to retag, as needed. I probably retagged at least 30 tags each year. We had 1600 head, including all ages. Some got pulled out and some ears were ripped. The tags were found in stalls, woven fencing, the flush alley... If this is easier to speak on than type, it could be an idea for a video topic... Have a blessed day!
So interesting. My vote is for Plains Bison. This information explains a lot about our past history. I remember all the way through school, hearing Kansas and Oklahoma history, Plains Bison. Being from Kansas, I am very proud of flyover country heritage.
DUSTY and Marissa great video. Best of luck with the bisons and the upcoming event in Colorado. Hope your turkeys are doing well. Have a wonderful New year with many blessing your way.🐎🐎💞👍❤❤❤.
I think that first cow who came and was smelling your boots Dusty must have thought that she knew who's hide went into the making of them. She certainly had a good smell of them as if she knew the young bull whilst he was alive!
