This video taught me how to skateboard, and I find it really funny that this channel is called BRAILLE Skateboarding! So thank you for helping teach me how to skateboard!! :D Update in 2024: I no longer hate Braille. Credit for that to my awesome teachers :D

@@kitwarrior4life124 this is kinda a weird question, but i have an 8 inch board and i wear size 6 shoes, do i need to have my heels off the side of the board when i ride?
It's really just practice. I kept my board in my living room for months before I even started actually trying to learn. I would just stand on it and hold on to the back of my couch. I'd just play around and eventually, I didn't have to hold onto the couch, then I was able to actually push a little bit and move a super short distance lol. I brought it outside the second the snow melted and I still suck, but I can actually push and ride a little bit. I just get scared of going fast though, so I bail lol.

I’m starting to learn to skateboard! I’ll update you on my progress Day 1: I practiced normal riding, can now ride sideways and make leaning turns going moderately fast. Downhill still scares me though Day 2: I learned a kick turn going at slow speeds Day 3: I’m starting to skate faster and went to a parking lot to practice skating better Day 4: got kick turns both ways Day 5: wanted to look cool while riding so I learned a running start and picking up the board cool Day 6: practicing riding around my neighborhood, really bad though Day 7: really really bad Month 1: Haven’t died yet Month 2: I’m still pretty bad, but can go down hills/tiny ramps and do a lot of things with kick turns. I learned the 180 both ways and can tic tack and walk the dog. I’m working on my manual and ollies currently Month 3: The weather is getting warmer so I’m hoping to skateboard more often. I went to a skatepark the other day and got cussed at by a little kid because I fell where they were skating 😂 1 year: This summer I learned to some easy tricks on ramps. I can go down some larger ramps now and I can also Ollie up a curb and I am working on kick flips!

Same here bro I'm trying to learn how to skate cuz its 1.5 miles to my high school ,and it seems easyer to ride then to walk . But im reallllyyy deathly afraid of being called a poser or a noobie even tho I'm trying my best bruh.
I just got my first skateboard for my bday. Didn't use it for a month because I was also moving to a new country. So I had to disassemble my board to get it on the plane. Didnt pay too much attention to how it was set up. So once I settled to my new place first thing I assembled the board. But I'm such a newbie that I just tightened everything to the max. Went for my first ride and I COULD NOT TURN AT ALL! Very stiff. That lean turning was nearly impossible. So had to look up videos and thanks for explaining that the trucks have to be a little loose for lean turning. As simple as that sounds...it might help a lot of us. Gracias!!!

Braille Team, You might wanna pin this one. Tips for people with no balance like me. For those looking to learn that have never stepped foot on a skateboard before, like myself a year ago, I have some things I did that helped me a ton even before getting the board really rolling. For me it was all about balance. Once I gained some balance it really became much easier. Any of these you can hold on to something to start with to assist you. 1). Simply step on and off the board, you can start on carpet if you're worried about the board slipping out from under you. Work on just getting on the board, and also getting in "riding" position like you just pushed. 2). Get in a small area like a 3 foot section in between a couch and a foot stool or your bed the wall and a pillow againat it or something and rock back in forth, weight on your toes, weight on your heels. Also shift your weight side to side. Again the idea is comfort if you're worried about slipping out. 3). in that small 3foot area, stand one footed and try to balance yourself. You don't have to be able to hold it long but it will help you with balance. A lot. The key here is to gain balance, and some early muscle memory. It doesn't take much time before you adjust to the feel of the board under you and then off you go with more confidence when you start pushing and riding! Lastly, a very personal opinion of mine. Learn switch up front. I truly believe doing this early will only benefit you later in your progression and add a lot more fun instead of suffering trying to learn it later in the game. I learnt to push ride and stop using both sides right out of the gate last fall and I'm at the point now that I don't care what side I ride on. (tricks are a different matter however. lol) Even if it's within the first month or 2 I would recommend going for it. Hope this helps the balanced challenged!

Thank you soo much! I started skateboarding 2 weeks ago and wanted to learn on my own, but then I decided to watch a tutorial to make sure I was doing it right. I never realized you put your front foot facing forward when pushing, and my back foot would get sore after a few minutes of riding. Skateboarding has become a lot more fun and a little easier. Thank you!

Can't wait to flop around on it on my street and make a fool of myself! Nice, easy to follow video.
I'm 41. Broke my elbow while trying a skateboard in a sport store. My boyfriend doesn't want me to jump on a skateboard never again. I want to learn it. I ve always wanted to be able to ride to somewhere only with skateboard. 😊
I just bought one for short transportation, I got a smaller one so it can fit in my locker. It is really good for cruising, the ride to my school is five minutes and it works great!
I’m now 22 and just now learning how to ride, got a board at the end of last season. Thank you Aaron for inspiring me to finally learn even as an adult. Never too late!
I did something worse I have adhd and I got a skateboard and was excited and without thinking hopped on it and went flying down a set of concrete stairs and broke my arm I was 10 when I did that but I didn’t care and still carried on once my arm was better 😭😂
LITERALLY ME TODAY AND BEES WERE CHASING ME AND MY BROTHER OUTSIDE AND I LEFT MY BOARD AND HELMET DOWN THE BLOCK. MY DAD HAD TO GO GET EVERYTHING FOR US WE WERE SO SCARED😭.
When I go to skateparks to practice and don't land a trick, I always hear other skaters talk about how bad I am and I fell so stupid because I try so hard but they say mean things about me😞😞😞.
Dont think thats true cause skaters have a family and rules one of them is to not make fun of beginners. So its either your lying or the people that are calling you names are not part of the family
Fuck em, they already know their shit so to make fun of someone whose just beginning or starting out means they only seen pro skaters on TH-cam and aren't confident in their own abilities or it could also just be part of the "Newbie Hazing Ritual" It happens regardless what you do or start to do. People talk shit because they know their shit, shut them out and show them what's it's about! Plus I believe the way you ride regardless what board it is, it's an extension of you, learn on your own time the most important part is feeling confident on your board and learning with it, you build a bond with something that is carrying an essence of you, a tool for a very personal and descriptive form of expression. Aggressive riders will be more extreme with their talk and how they ride Peaceful riders tend to go with the flow and is traditionally the more cali skater hippie style But there are subcultures with in the skater community and you will run into all of them eventually. Let the aggressive skaters continue to be them and just be you.

I’ll update you on my progress
Day 1: I practiced normal riding, can now ride sideways and make leaning turns going moderately fast. Downhill still scares me though
Day 2: I learned a kick turn going at slow speeds
Day 3: I’m starting to skate faster and went to a parking lot to practice skating better
Day 4: got kick turns both ways
Day 5: wanted to look cool while riding so I learned a running start and picking up the board cool
Day 6: practicing riding around my neighborhood, really bad though
Day 7: really really bad
Month 1: Haven’t died yet
Month 2: I’m still pretty bad, but can go down hills/tiny ramps and do a lot of things with kick turns. I learned the 180 both ways and can tic tack and walk the dog. I’m working on my manual and ollies currently
Month 3: The weather is getting warmer so I’m hoping to skateboard more often. I went to a skatepark the other day and got cussed at by a little kid because I fell where they were skating 😂
1 year: This summer I learned to some easy tricks on ramps. I can go down some larger ramps now and I can also Ollie up a curb and I am working on kick flips!

Gracias!!!

Just wanna say that when I was learning how to ride again as an adult 5 or 6 years ago this video was very helpful and I still hear some lines from this video in my head while I'm pushing around so thanks alot!
Amazing! What tricks are you learning now?
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you!
Thank you for this. I'm thinking to myself I can't worry about choosing a foot, when I can't even balance on one at my old age 😂

Thank you soo much! I started skateboarding 2 weeks ago and wanted to learn on my own, but then I decided to watch a tutorial to make sure I was doing it right. Dont think thats true cause skaters have a family and rules one of them is to not make fun of beginners. So its either your lying or the people that are calling you names are not part of the family
@@suavenoway is right, skaters are chill with beginners
Fuck em, they already know their shit so to make fun of someone whose just beginning or starting out means they only seen pro skaters on TH-cam and aren't confident in their own abilities or it could also just be part of the "Newbie Hazing Ritual"
It happens regardless what you do or start to do.
Aggressive riders will be more extreme with their talk and how they ride
Peaceful riders tend to go with the flow and is traditionally the more cali skater hippie style
But there are subcultures with in the skater community and you will run into all of them eventually.
Let the aggressive skaters continue to be them and just be you.
