Ive tought of that, the worse that happens is you donate - however canned goods will last alot longer than one year, no need to donate each year from your prepper pantry anyway.

So good Jennifer! I can't wait to try some of theses recipes. I love "Victory Pantry", which I assume came from "Victory Garden". My grandmothers were young homemakers during WWII. This reminds me of their "can do" attitudes and optimism as they grew their own food, a lot of which they canned to stock their pantries. They were victorious and exemplified the attitude that we should have as we plan and prepare. 💛🤗💛

Hi Jennifer! I belong to an Orthodox Christian group and the lady who runs this group actually referred your page to us. I just call my pantry a pantry. People assume too much and pantry keeps things cordial :-) I am stocking up on canned goods and some meat. My brother, we live together I was mom's caretaker and he's trying to help me get back on my feet) has been out of work since the first of the year. We have been living off of our pantry and freezer. It has been such a HUGE blessing as I am the only one working and not making mush more than minimum wage. When I moved from Iowa to Tennessee I had no money but I huge pantry to help with things until I got a job. Pantry's are very important and if things go good and you do not need the food or won't get to it before it expires, bless someone you know may be having a difficult time.

I’ve been building my food and household supply over the last year. Usually I only worry about it going into late Fall and try to keep stocked for winter. I’m in Canada and I simply don’t want to go to the store when it’s cold and miserable. This year I just kept up with it through covid and have been slowly building. Some other things to include are items that make you happy. I make sure I have LOTS of coffee, comfort items when are sick (Vick’s VapoRub etc), fully charged back up battery packs for phones (Mophies), cash and entertainment items (Kobo with library account logged in, puzzles etc.)

I started to stock up this summer. I have never kept much extra food, so it has been a challenge trying to find an organized place for everything, and also a mental challenge to buy some of these bulk items. We don't have a walk in pantry, so I converted our upstairs linen closet to a pantry. I put the linen items like tablecloths and fitted sheets in a bin for under the bed. A lot of the food was on baker's racks in our hot garage, and I realized that it wasn't a good idea and that I had to find somewhere in the house.

I prefer Victory pantry, to me prepper pantry has a negative connotation.
Growing up my family had a pantry that could sustain us for years, I think that’s the way most people lived. Stock up on a good buy or jar all the produce while it’s in season. My parents would buy, from the butcher, a whole lamb or half cow, prep the meat for different meals and freeze it in a huge freezer. We would come home from school to mounds of meat that my parents and grandmother were hand chopping into different meals. Or tomatoes, apricots, butter, yogurt, orca leaves, whatever needed replenishing. I miss seeing them working together like that.

This makes 4 individual pizza crusts. I make it ahead of time and freeze. My pizza dough recipe: 6 2/3c all-purpose flour, 1 T salt, 2 t sugar, 2 1/2c warm water, and 4 1/2 t instant yeast. Of course, activate the yeast with the warm water and sugar. Allow to sit for 10 minutes. Combine flour and salt with water mixture. Knead well and allow to rise for 1 hour. Punch down. Allow to rise another hour. Divide into 4 portions and use or freeze. I do this recipe in a bread maker, in a kitchen aid and in a food processor. It all works.

Victory pantry for me. This is good information and your meals look delicious. I did learn the lesson that nasty little weevil things will chew through anything; unopened pasta, powdered milk, flour bags, nothing was off limits. I now seal everything up in freezer zip lock bags, glass, or freeze. I also learned my lesson buying too many canned goods because they had expiration dates that weren't as long as I assumed. A large family wouldn't have any problems going through large stock but us singletons might.

I think the key to a good pizza crust is to bake it at a high heat -- 450 to 500 degrees. That way the bottom crisps and it rises quickly.I love split pea soup and lentil soup which are made similarly at my house. Some ideas for toppings for lentil or split pea soup is to add crisp, crumbled bacon, sour cream, and green onions. Oh, and croutons. I guess I haven't heard of victory pantry so mine is a prepper pantry. I did plant an extra large garden this year so perhaps I have a victory garden for my prepper pantry! Great pantry ideas. One thing I think gets overlooked is salt. Gotta have some flavor. Thank you.

I don't have an actual working pantry, I store my pantry items in my kitchen cupboards, so any time we have stuff that won't fit in those cupboards, stuff that overflows, I put it on shelves in the dining area. It's not pretty, but it's functional and it's allowing me to stock up during these interesting times.

Your videos are so comforting on a cold, rainy day. I love these meal ideas! I love Shrimp scampi 🍤 linguine, and I have one son who ADORES shrimp, and one son who hates it, so I usual throw some cooked chicken in mine. We make homemade pizzas, too! The fact that you make it about 1x a week encourages me to put it into our weekly meal plan. I recently made it using the Stonefire Naan flatbread from Costco, with everyone picking their toppings, and my husband who was skeptical said it turned out really well! Normally I make my own dough. But the Naan flatbread was a quick fix, one rainy Sunday afternoon!
I love your concept of a “Victory Pantry”. This is what we do, too, and we did not need to even go to the grocery store during all the panic buying of 2020! (Except for fresh fruit & vegetables) Buying extra of what you eat, plus having a little 25 year shelf life food, is such a blessing to have on hand. It’s cool to see so many of my pantry staples in your pantry!

I call mine “pantry like my mamaw’s!” Lol. I’m 62 and I can remember my grandmothers having a lot of food stocked up in their basement. Most of it was food they had canned from their garden. But they also had other grocery canned foods and a stocked freezer. They grew up during the depression, so they knew what it was like to do without. I learned a lot from them. One of my grandmothers would wash and rinse her aluminum foil she had used and would reuse it later. I do this with freezer storage bags. My son and husband call me cheep, but I say I’m just frugal and don’t see why we can’t reuse some things. Enjoyed your video!

I love you’re daily meal videos. I made the fries this last weekend. I soaked them for 15 min, but they needed to cook for a lot longer than the given time. Could have been my air fryer or maybe I should soak them longer. I love the idea so I will continue making them until I get them to work for me.

I just found your vlog and love it! We too are working on our pantry. Since we make so much from scratch we bought 5 gallon food grade buckets to buy flour, sugar, rice, popcorn kernals (Friday night popcorn!), Almond Cow ingredients to make our milks, and so forth. Our goal is to keep 3 months worth of food and rotate forward as we purchase to replace what we use. Peace of mind going into this fall & winter.

I enjoyed your last video on the prepped/victory pantry. I too try to have an emergency food supply. I am in the process of identifying 14 meals that could be made, in large part, off the shelf, then trying to store items for those meals. My goal is to make one or two one or two of those meals a week to be sure to rotate my supply. If I use fresh ingredients like vegetables, I try to store dried veggies that could be used in emergency situations, that have a very long shelf life and are basically an insurance policy. For example, I keep ingredients on hand to make taco soup, but have beef tvp stored for an emergency.

Victory Pantry or Liberty Pantry. In alignment with the Victory Gardens of the earlier part of the century. It conveys a sense of personal empowerment connecting with the collective of humanity, and humble roots. Love this video, Jennifer! And all of your videos, really. Love the meal prep, capsule wardrobe, monthly Chic Assignments...Thanks for all you do. It's a pleasure.

I always use Peter Reinhart's overnight pizza dough recipe from "The Bread Baker's Apprentice". I usually make a double batch because I have a large Kitchen Aid and then freeze what I don't immediately use. We built a very primitive pizza oven in our back yard and this dough is absolutely perfect for wood fired brick oven pizza. It works well on a pizza stone in my oven also.

We love split pea soup-frugal and so nutritious! I come from farm folk, we’ve always put up and stored food. 🍁🍁🍁 You never know what the next harvest will be like...Last year we had a banner year of apples, I nearly killed myself canning and dehydrating apples. This year, a terrible storm broke many branches and blew off our baby apples. So grateful that I’ve still got plenty of apples put up.

My favorite recipe I’ve tried was from Family Fun, and sharp cheddar stirred into sour cream over a double boiler. Sounds weird, but it’s good! Otherwise, recipes with several types of cheese seem to produce the best result.

I'm in Canada and while the shelves weren't as empty as I saw in the US it was still a weird feeling. When I go to the store I now pick up 1-2 things to put away, but will definitely be doing a Costco trip soon.

I made it to the end! 👍 It takes me a few days to watch after you post, but I’m here and enjoy them.
I’m not sure which term I’d use for my pantry. Neither prepper or victory to exactly describe me, I guess victory is closer.
I’ve gone to once a month shopping with some limited weekly shopping to replenish fresh items, and if I spy a good sale on something, like roast or hamburger, I’ll buy as much as I can and freeze. I have more than a month’s worth of food and household items at all times.
A question I have is management of everything. I mean organizing and keeping track of items so food doesn’t go bad. Even canned food has an expiration date, I know it can be years, but still need to be aware and rotate items so that nothing is waisted.

Best pizza dough: 2.5 c warm water, 1/4с sugar, 3 tsp active dry yeast, 1/4 с oil, 6 c flour, 2 tsp salt. Let mixer do the work. Let it raise, about 2 hrs. Spread it into greased 20x15 big pan or divide dough into 2 portions. Let it raise in the pan, another hour.

I prefer victory pantry. To go along with victory garden! But really shopping for weeks at a time was just normal rural life for me as a kid, and as a busy mom, it still helps to keep a stockpile of things we use regularly. I like that you keep two different stocks, so to speak - the true emergency food plus the backup food that you will use up. Smart.
