I was one of those who had asked...thank you for following through!!! I LOVE your voiceover--it brings an even more personal and poetic element to the video, not to mention, makes it easier to watch and listen while going about my own homemaking. And your candid potato laughing breakdown was so authentic and delightful. Thanks!
I also loved the voiceover. It gave a more natural and approachable feel to the video, and made it very enjoyable. And the potato incident...looool I laughed so hard I wanted to die! As always, thank you for sharing such beautiful and fun videos!
I'm chuckling. You have made a memory that your children will tell your grandchildren someday...remember the day Mom washed the potatoes in the washing machine???? And all will laugh.
Your potato story reminded me of my friend, who, last year, noticed a dark smelly substance on her floor. She could not determine where it was coming from, she cleaned it day after day and every morning there was this terribly smelly liquid on the same spot on her floor. She finally decided her pipes were corroded and started looking for a reliable plumber. Before the plumbers came she went into her kitchen and instead of looking down at the floor, she looked up and saw her fruit basket hanging above the spot. In the basket were several rotten potatoes that were dripping onto her floor.
Oh Dear, You aren't the only one... "My potatoesss... " Thank you for keeping this soo real AND relatable... I loved your "Hi Baby" followed by your baby's voice. Couple of weeks back I took my dirty clothes to the dishwasher ... ;) and my son caught me at the dishwasher's door!!! So yes, this is real home making in progress .. Cheers to you Jennifer From one tired n committed mom to another.
Thank you for giving this 81 year old "Super Fan" a wonderful laugh today!!! I appreciate so much all you do that helps me stay motivated to be involved in living fully each day. After a certain age I think sometimes older single ladies can just sort of give up caring about how we look, how we eat, how we maintain our home environment - wondering what difference does it make. But, I feel I am serving as a role model for my six granddaughters so I use you as my inspiration to do this "elderly" thing. There is no manual for how to grow old gracefully. I've bought your books and shared them with the girls ages 13 to 22 and recently had to ask them to let me borrow back At Home with Madame Chic. Just to get a refresher nudge. Again, thank you Jennifer L. Scott.
One time when I was canning pickles, I read a quick tip that said to wash the cubes in your washing machine. So I put 20 pounds of cucumbers into my washer and set it for a short cycle. Well can I just say, I felt like a murderer when I saw the chopped up and squashed cakes lying in the bottom of my washer? It was a mess and I literally found pieces of cucumber in my washing for almost a week after! I don’t know what kind of machine the person who wrote that quick tip had but it must be very gentle. So cheer up, although you seemed not to be down, it could have been worse!
Oh my goodness I cried laughing watching! Your poor potatoes! I’m glad you have crazy days too- and all you can do is laugh! Thank you for brightening my day as ever! I’ll be chuckling all evening about that I think 💕😀
We are in an extended and ever increasing quarantine. My church is closed for the first time since the Civil War. The silence and stillness makes me uncomfortable. One day I noticed that the only consistent sound has been the church bells which ring on the hour. The bells are my refuge. They remind me to turn inward and think of what matters most to me. We all get too busy. I’m grateful for the sound of the bells which are my refuge. 🔔
Love the way you do your videos. There is a calm and joyful way that make me want to do my best at home. I laugh with you 😃 watching the potatoes in in the washing machine. Sometimes after cleaning the whole house I am so tired that I can’t think, and I keep saying what am I doing 🙃. Love what you read 💕Thank you for sharing. You are a wonderful inspiration 🥰
I love both the voice over and the typing videos and I really enjoy your homemaking series. I quit working in the corporate world 13 years ago when I had my first child. I was like a fish out of water for the first year or two, but gradually grew to love being home with my children. I’ve never returned to working outside of the home because I love being a mother and homemaking so much! I feel very fortunate to be in a financial position that allows me to stay home, although my husband jokes with me frequently that he’d love to trade places with me (now that the kids are older and more independent)!😜
My mom washed her garden carrots in the washing machine before canning them; you’re not alone. 😉 Your avocados look perfect (how rare for us!) and the meal looks delicious. Yes, we forgot the rice a few nights ago, too. Love this real look at the life of a happy homemaker; the joyful children laughing with you cannot be purchased or enjoyed more than any earthly treasure. Julie 🌷
Try getting your avocados at Costco. They have the best always. I buy a bag of hard ones and leave one or two out to ripen at a time. The rest keep very well in the fridge.
I love you Jennifer! The laughter that you bring. It's contagious! I' m growing my potatoes on my balcony too - you inspired me to do it. I've heard that they are ready to collect when the potatoe flowers start to bloom. I'm still waiting for mine.. Btw This kind of films are so lovely!! Hugs from Poland!
That made me laugh so hard I snorted, lol that turned on my tickle box. Potatoes in the laundry lol😂🤣😂🤣 like my mom who was notorious for putting the cordless house phone in the fridge. Laughter is good medicine
Time to wash the potatoes . . . LOL! So funny and so relatable. Your children are so fortunate to have these videos. I wish I had videos of my mother going about her homemaking days when she was young. How wonderful it would be to see. Thank you Jennifer for this humorous and lovely video.
I'm sure I'm not the only mother (I'll be a new grandma in a few months!) who heard your children laughing with you at the potatoes and knew what beautiful memories you are creating. They will laugh at that forever, with love. Bless you.
Fun fact! Fresh onions don't make you cry/cry as much because they have more moisture in them from the ground, as they dry out the oils that make you cry are more concentrated, so the older the onion, the more likely you are to cry. I learned this from working in a kitchen w a food science nerd. She recommended holding a big chunk of French bread in your teeth while chopping if you've got a very weepy old onion on your hands. Thanks for this video! Very inspiring!
I had such a big laugh with you. I usually cut up all my vegetables or fruits and put them in a towel, to take out to the garden. I kept losing my scraps bowl. My husband threw the entire towel into the washer and I had the cleanest compost you have ever seen! And now, you really have seen! Laughing to hard at this!
Jennifer, I really love that you keep "it real", I was in tears from laughter at your "potato misadventure", and yes you are tired because you do so much! Thanks for the giggle! Best of luck on the next crop!
Can you publish a cook book with all the recipes featured in your videos? Slow cook, afternoon tea, banana bread, frozen meals and these delicious enchiladas!!!
Jennifer, I think you've hit on something! But my suggestion is that next time you put your potatoes in a mesh bag and run it through the delicate cycle. Thank you for my morning laugh!
Beautiful garden produce. Lovely to hear you and your children giggling about it. You'll be laughing and joking about that for years. These are the things that bring families together. The funny stories and experiences.
Beautiful images. Loved your poem. Your leftovers looked delicious - our house rule is that most comfort foods are yummier the next day, such as lasagne, curries, pasta sauces, casseroles. Australian supermarkets usually sell ‘washed potatoes’ (unsure if same elsewhere) - after this video I have a whole new image in my head 🤣
This was one of my favorite videos you have done. Ahh- more laughter please. And your poem at the end was simply wonderful and perfectly fit with washed potatoes.
😂😂😂 So funny!!! I love hearing your and your children’s laughter!!! I’m glad that crazy things happen to others too!! Thank you, Jennifer for everything that you do!!❤️
I love love love your videos on the art of homemaking, it is so inspiring. When I was in high school in the early 90's heavy emphasis was put on what college we were going on to and the SAT's (which isn't bad either). I really thought homemaking was a thing of the past. Now that I have my own home, I love your videos. Again, there is nothing wrong with education but sometimes it is emphasized at the expense of homemaking. Like you can have one but not the other. I believe if people had happier homes the world may be very different.
Omgosh..love your garden...(sigh..)....I once had a big garden with almost everything... . I used to spend all day in it..until dark....till the mosquitoes started their shift...
Difficult day, mostly for my attitude😉 but watching this inspired me to give myself grace and enjoy this lovely and peaceful slice of the mundane. I will step out of my self imposed time out and begin again. Thank you this lovely video❤
That potatoes montage made me smile so hard, and I laughed along with your little one’s darling giggle! I love that simple demonstration of how you reacted with laughing, and bringing joy to a hilarious situation, rather than fume and groan about it! What a subtle lesson 😉
“A merry heart doeth good like a medicine! Proverbs 17:22 You have no idea what your laughter has done for me in this day. The “washed potatoes”’ happened just to lift my spirits. I’m still laughing and so grateful that God knew I needed to see your video today. Thank you! P.s. ....still laughing 🤣
A wonderful video as always, dear Jennifer, along with a most poignant reminder for homemakers everywhere - don't forget to laugh :) thank you for sharing your meditations with us. Hearing your children giggling along with you as you scooped all the potatoes out of the washing machine made my night. God love you all!
The hysterical laughter was so contagious. I needed that laugh today! I had really shady knife skills for the longest time. My husband is the executive chef at a large hotel and watching me cook had him going between a silent 😬😬😬 and “Baby, NOOOO! What are you doing?! I can’t even watch this!”
There is no place else I’d rather be than at home with my little family. It is a refuge from the world. The small mishaps of things like potato washing bring unexpected fun to daily tasks. Thanks for your channel. It is an encouragement and inspiration.
I always get such satisfaction when I watch your videos. Jennifer you are a gem....cleaning, cooking, shopping, picking fruit...all the while looking composed and so stunning. I needed a laugh today and you provided it with the potatoes in the washing machine. Your children were so cute giggling along with you, You reminded me of my Mom...she used to make enchiladas....I’ll have to try making them...they looked yummy. Your food is always so appealing to me. Stay well and cool. I live in New England and its very hot here too.❤️🌺🌺🌺
I personally love these videos without sound. They are very calming to watch that way. I don't mind the voiceovers but I have gotten used to the other way you do them, and they're lovely.
Jennifer, Thank you for keeping it real! It is so refreshing!! I loved the laundered potatoes. Your laughter was a delight. You are a blessing and inspiration! Thank you! Robin
Loved your poem! I was cracking up at your freshly washed potatoes ! Your kids loved that and will be talking about it forever. Have a great week Jennifer😊

Some of my most vivid memories are of events that didn’t turn out perfectly. You and your family will remember the laughter that erupted over the potatoes in the wash!
Some of you have asked for this series to return to voiceover, so this one is for you... And also, the potatoes. WHY?? 😫
I was one of those who had asked...thank you for following through!!! I LOVE your voiceover--it brings an even more personal and poetic element to the video, not to mention, makes it easier to watch and listen while going about my own homemaking. I also loved the voiceover. It gave a more natural and approachable feel to the video, and made it very enjoyable. And the potato incident...looool I laughed so hard I wanted to die!
As always, thank you for sharing such beautiful and fun videos!
At least they're clean now! Probably cooked too :D
Now that’s just adorable that you washed your little potatoes in the wash machine. 😄 I loved the My Secret Garden Poem. 🌿💕
I'm chuckling. You have made a memory that your children will tell your grandchildren someday...remember the day Mom washed the potatoes in the washing machine???? And all will laugh.
The laugh you got is sooo worth the time you spent growing the potatoes

Hysterical!
Those are the cleanest potatoes ever!!!!!🤣🤣🤣I am crying. 😭🥔🧼
I always leave these videos with a fresh zeal for my own homemaking. 😊 Thank you, Jennifer, for the “iron sharpening” effect you have on me!
That was such a beautiful poem. I don't have children but I enjoy spending time at home cooking, cleaning and just doing things around the house 😊

And those potatoes...we were all laughing over here! So good to see you having fun :)
"They have never been cleaner!" Haaaaa....love it.
Yes, as your child chirped THEY'VE NEVER BEEN SO CLEAN. You are starting a new cleaning trend.

The potato incident reminds me of the Amelia Bedelia children’s book
Haha I remember those
You’re right! That’s exactly what Amelia Bedelia would do.
That potato story is one that will be told for generations by your children.
