Matt Fryer, you fixed my driver problem with hooking the ball on a different video. I thank you sir. Your videos are the best for me.

I played a round of nine today using your tips to break 100 and shot near 44. I had a couple of breakdowns on the last two holes that too me to a 54, but your lesson on what to do to shoot lower scores worked great for me thanks very much. looking forward to more.

This video has helped me a lot with ball position for the 3 wood on a tee peg. I have been placing it the same as off the deck, which is in the middle of the stance. I'll definitely try out this suggestion with a slight tilt of the shoulders.

Thanks, Matt! This is a lesson I definitely needed. I have been chunking or topping my 3w the last few times out. It was my go-to when I needed to hit a fairway but I totally forgot how to hit my 3w it seems. I needed this refresher!

Matt, excellent golf lesson + the person on the camera did a good job. The fairway wood off of a tee is not covered by many instructors on TH-cam, you've really come into your own as a TH-cam instructor.

advise using a 5 wood to help getting the ball up in the air?

I’ve tested a lot of 3wood releases this year and they’re becoming harder to hit off the deck and better suited to teeing up. 5wood off the deck is fun 🤩

  • @mikewalker7366

Thanks Matt, excellent stuff. I use a 4-wood so assume the same applies? Another problem can be teeing the ball too high (on a tee shot), I’d recommend a red castle maximum height.

Great lesson Matt - I struggle with my 5 wood of tee and fairway but I can nail my 2 hybrid every time. Just wondering if it’s worth persevering or just go with the slightly shorter club? Practice makes perfect I guess 👍

Hi Matt. I hit my 3-wood off the tee as you discussed, just without the (driver-like) spine tilt. How will that change in spine tilt affect ball flight and distance? Will it fly higher? Longer? Great vid! Thx!

Great video Matt. I used to be able to hit my 3W really nicely off tee and deck. But this past month or so I’ve been hideously topping them when trying to hit off the fairway or just in the light rough. Any ideas why I’ve suddenly gone from confidently striking them off the deck to the bone shuddering top?

I think I am in the market for a 3 wood, have TS2 Driver, jpx 919 hot metal irons/combo. I have been only playing for about a year. HC is probably just over 30. (High handicap capper) my 5 hybrid goes about 200 yards driver about 240ish. Is a 3 wood something I should be looking at? Or just stick with what I have? Love this vid, I’ve tried hitting a 3 wood a few times and it hasn’t ended well lol

I see loads of instructors who contradict this and basically say you should barely tee it up at all and still aim to take the ball then turf afterwards.
I always thought if something was on a tee then you're hoping for an upwards angle of attack.

I find it really easy to hit the 3 wood off the deck, especially off a range mat when it’s almost automatic. Compared to my driver there’s very little dispersion too. Sometimes I think I should chuck the driver in the bin 🗑

  • @anthonybennett4274
    @anthonybennett4274 4 ปีที่แล้ว

instead of hitting off a hard range mat which the ball's going forward anyway even hitting the mat or a top shot , hit it off a grass fairway which is soft ,little long maybe and yes you can place and clean but maybe your feet might slip wouldn't that give a good picture of a 3 wood of grass would look like also hitting down on the ball

  • @scottstewart3954

How come I hit 3 wood off the deck sweet but can’t hit up on my driver? I need to have it back in my stance a bit. I’m a “digger” with my irons 😂

My solution to how to hit the 3 wood off the deck is not to carry one, Instead I have a 5 wood head on a 3 wood shaft I call it the 4 and a bit wood!
